I'd try my best to research the maid orders over the hypernet before issuing any. Failing to find something, I'd probably try a command like "orders list" or "orders help." Some commands to try would be order 42, order 48, and order 98. Maybe the orders don't even need to be numeric and I could just say "order intercourse."

When I first came to /cyoag/ there were soo many cyoas to play and make builds of, and I did that alot, I couldn't get enough of them, there were soo many interesting themes and well made cyoas taking up my time.
Only a few months after my first introduction now, I have yet to make a build for any new cyoa which has came out, they all seem boring and visually poorly designed. I skip over anything which doesn't look nice and have yet to find a cyoa I've played more than once.

A good point. I'll have it so a dryad could be a possible companion.
Compainions are determined by how many guest rooms you make in the house. There's 30 different rooms total, each with 5 upgrades. You get to pick 15 rooms and 45 upgrades. Some companions are fine living outdoors, but you'd have to know where they live and find them to be able to talk to them and hang out.

Thank you for the idea!

Best advice I can give is just look at how some of the more graphical cyoas, notice the similarities and emulate them, how the text is placed, the spacing, textboxes, colours. That's how I started off, copying the design of the Gentlefemdom layout then playing around with my own style based off what I saw in other cyoas.
>>
>>54571036
>>
>>54571047
I always saw involving money into a hobby as a bad thing because then it fills you with obligations.

If I were to be running off of Patreon by doing CYOAs, do you think releasing something every half a year would be acceptable? Even so, I'd have to promise to meet deadlines I didn't want. I'd rather have my own jurisdiction over my own time; I always treated this hobby as a means of creative freedom rather than to create things to please a certain crowd. It's why I declined opening a donation box when people pitched it to me here a long time ago.
>>
>>54571108
That's understandable but also different from saying "Patreon? No, I have standards".
>>
>>54571055
Ah, okay. I was trying that, but apparently it didn't turn out well enough for you. Motivation to work harder next time, though. Is there some accepted standard for stuff like spacing between text and boxes, like a percentage, or is it just by eye? I know that in particular is a huge weakness of mine since I'm too damn wordy.

Honestly I don't expect anyone who isn't a dedicated graphic designer or artist to make any masterpieces and that's okay the people who are obsessed with that are in the minority.

Spacing I always do by eye, nothing too close to any boxes or borders, and inline with the image it's referring to, not spilling out the sides. Textboxes are good to separate text. Alot of cyoas have images with rounded edges, that's an easy way to make it look nice.

I think I'll add an "Encounters" page. The Forest points are mainly for the BIG shaping features. The encounters will be minor things that add life to a now populated forest. Things like minor weather control, night sky star canvases, intelligent life and residents, hidden artifacts from previous forest owners to discover that do certain things, and more landscape features/secret areas to discover.

It's gonna add a ton of time to the making of this, but It'll be for the better! Time to get working!

The fact that threads where you don't have to sift through about half the posts being bickering about pointless stuff (quite often off topic pointless stuff) are now less common then not is not good at all.

Especially when they're all like this one; its not a discussion, you can tell neither side is actually listening to the other, just waiting for them to post so they can try to pick apart their words and tell them they're wrong. When its over no one will have changed their mind about anything.

I'm not sure what a writing element is but I always found it interesting how individualistic cyoas are: personal powers, personal comfort, complete abandonment of society, etc. are popular themes.

Personally I'd enjoy seeing more cyoas where friends and family matter. Either by including them in whatever the topic of the cyoa might be, or by letting you design/pick a family for your new life.

Then again, one of my personal pet interests have always been powerful families. I find being the heir to a trade empire, more interesting than being the founder and de facto ruler.

What would be the best way to go about making a Transformers CYOA?

I'm considering making one where the reader balances Energon, which governs their abilities, and Allies, which is obvious but is limited by their starting Faction (Autobot/Decepticon/NAIL/Unicron) and the Age (Pre-War/Generation 1/Post-War).

How could I work in the various size classes? I was thinking of making them Scout (let's say Arcee from Prime as an example), Voyager (the standard, think Starscream in relation to Megatron), and Leader (Your Primes, Megs, and various bigguns), but I'm not sure if that should simply be cosmetic or have mechanical effect, like, say, the larger the size, the less Energon you have access to.

Thoughts? What CYOA's would be good influences too look at for inspiration?

Wow, your CYOAs really don't have any connecting themes or anything. You go from beastmaster to martial arts to post-apoc lonely simulator. The only way to identify them is through the slightly impressive disregard towards aesthetics.

Making a good Transformers CYOA grail remains my holy grail, that I'll never achieve I suspect.

My outline had the player choose:
Alt-mode: Land Vehicle, Air Vehicle, Beast, Other

and then classification, which would have been the meat of the work:
Triple Changer
Combiner Member
Pretender
Headmaster
Targetmaster
Powermaster
Titan
Monoformer

Then a series of perks like Point One Percenter, Spark Twin, stuff like that.

Oh, I like forests! This one is especially nice due to the built in comfy power.

I'll take fully upgraded rivers and streams. A source of water, and a place to bathe and swim. Building a swimming hole by moving around the river rocks is a great way to spend an afternoon.

Holy trees with fruit, because something holy is good, and having fruit to eat means I can stay a while longer.

Day and night seem like something I wouldn't want to miss. Real changes should be involved too. Since I have more upgrades than I really need, I'll take the ones to let me control this false time too.

A forest without animals would be a bit boring. Real life animals can be fairly friendly already, but I have the upgrade points so I'll take that option.

I suppose a calming shrine is a nice thing, especially with the comfy amenities.

I don't want any of those homes, they're surrounded by death. I'd rather build my own that's more harmonious with the forest. It is mine, after all.

Balance concern: Everything under Rivers and Streams feels mandatory, like it should be part of the base package.

Also, I realize this isn't done, but I'd like a bit to detail what kind of forest this is. Is it deciduous or coniferous, for example. Is there underbrush, and what's it like? Are the trees tall and straight or complicated and heavily branching? Is the ground flat, hilly, or mountainous? That kind of thing.

First off, a lot of the shit like food, water, bathing, swimming, ect is covered in the house options, so no worry there. There will also be set locations to choose from like other settlements that will have their own lakes, ponds, and rivers. The rivers described are just ones that form naturally and independent of you, in the wilds.

2nd off, I'm going a mix of all types really. Deep jungle, hills, caves, mountains, no underbrush, some underbrush, thick to thin. Certain things such as the home exteriors and the pre-planned set locations to pick will have their own sort of terrain described to surround it.

I'll make more of an effort to answer those questions, its just at 1 page, a lot is left unexplained by the forest's guardian.

Thanks for the suggestions! Here's the non-final homes room page that might clear some things up for people. It's planned to be page 3.
>>
>>54573754
>>54573522
Oh, I didn't see this. These are much nicer homes!

I don't like that none have a porch, but I can build one myself.

The roots of the tree are nice but the sound would make it harder for me to sleep. I think I'll take the Witch's cabin, although I'm going to do away with the scarecrows and jack o' lanterns personally. That's just too much.

Looking forward to page two.

There's really a lot of home stuff isn't there?

I'll take a bathroom so that the shit doesn't pile up around my home.

Bedroom is sort of the point of a house in the first place. Can't imagine who would want the bed to be the earth's softest, it would feel like it's swallowing you up.

Library seems nice.

Kitchen and dining room are also kind of necessary, and the grocery food supply is nice, although it makes me wonder what ingredients it would have otherwise.

If I'm the owner of the forest and stop time to come here, who is the teleporter supposed to invite? I don't like the implications for the setting.

Weight room is handy so I'll take that.

Treasure rooms are nice if there's to be storage or I need a big room for some reason, but mostly I just want the tools.

That's all I really want, but I have a ton of extra points, so I'll just take the CYOA portal I guess. This page kind of undermined the first one, it got less comfy.

I think the "CYOA Portal" is a mistake, it will just make people treat your cyoa as a meta cyoa, trying to synergize with other cyoa rather than playing it as-is.

That said, I liked the first page a lot. As much as I like pocket dimension cyoa's, they tend to place emphasis on the magical perks for rooms rather than the outdoor space.

Oh dear, I love this one.

I have pretty vivid dreams and so I'm sure Ms. Doll would enjoy them. I would try to have an interesting dream every night, and I would really enjoy sitting and listening to her tell me about them, since I can't remember them. I can look into ways to dream about certain things and tailor them to her likes. I would very much enjoy spending time with her.

Hopefully she isn't put off if I accidentally have a dream about her, where we hold hands.

The grassland spirit would be nice too. I would tend a garden with my Doll friendo, and we can go around planting trees with one of those nonprofit organizations. I'm sure the grassland spirit would be pleased if we become professional tree planters, and it's even for a good cause. And I wouldn't be too demanding about the weather, just sunny and cool most days, nothing too difficult for him.

The Orphan can come along, and learn about the importance of nature and the environment and what we can do to help from the grassland spirit and me. I like to think those are good things to teach. I would raise her with kindness and affection and encouragement.

I may not have superpowerful signature moves, but will have versatile grasp of basic elements and ability to use them effectively in any situation even against other superpowered individuals.

Very, very, absolutely wonderfully useful. Requires some thinking and subtlety but at rank 2 it easily can make one a high-class superhero on its own. Also, quality of daily life will increase drastically. No more chores!
>Summoning 1
Some allies when there's none may be of some use. Plus, if I am to be wholesome mage, knowing a bit of this too would be expected
>Temporal 1
Same as above, plus certainly some help against physically powerful, quick enemies - both when it comes to fighting and avoiding them.

>Psychic
I believe that true mage, as he develops spiritually and mentally becomes a bit of a psychic naturally. Guess only Strange made any sizeable progression there, though.
>Telepathy 1
Very useful for communication, interrogation or simply knowing what's what. Certainly would help both in daily life and when doing some super-work.
>Telekinesis 1
I wonder if it'll boost/be boosted by Utility magic. Either way, enough power to be useful in a fight and outside of it. Wonderfully versatile in general.
>Domination 1
Seemingly morally suspicious but it really depends on how it's used. Certainly worth consideration also for things like avoiding unnecessary conflict.

>General
>Genius (Science)
Perhaps my intelligence isn't too shabby, but I am nowhere near level befitting a genius - and it's that level that may be quite useful in increasing my power further.
>Durability (Physical)
There are in-universe ways of nullifying magic and psychic powers, at least temporarily and to some degree (even if it's unlikely for both to be disabled at the same time). Some durability may buy me necessary time to think of some other way of saving my hide.

>Gear
>Lair 1
Home, sweet home. My IRL apartment certainly is too small and crappy to allow comfortable hero life. Also, neighbours would complain about noise if some supervillain would come to seek revenge or some occult experiment of mine would go awry.
>Utility belt 1
Did I tell you I like versatility? A belt full of gadgets is something just for me (and more compact than the messenger bag with some basic gear like tiny medikit, flint, compass etc I have IRL - yes, I am weird like that).
>Guns 1
It's hard to get guns here legally. Yes alone get guns that would be effective against anything stronger than some backalley scum - legally or not. Access to some considerable firepower may serve me well if my magic or psychic powers won't.

Rest of the money I'll probably invest in some fund and use to pay my bills, especially if I'll seriously take up the superhero gig as a full-time occupation (which thing usually doesn't pay).

At the same time I blame misleading (or even outright stating otherwise) blurb, where we're told on example of general points that we can "spend one power point for "Rank 1 Flight" with wings, or two power points for "Rank 2 Flight" which strongly suggests than in general, rank 2 of powers costs 2 points, while rank 1 costs a single point.

Time to leave this world. I do hope I'll be able to move my stuff from my real apartment into this one though. Otherwise I'll be somewhat pissed and sad.

>Student House
Seems simple and functional, with a bit of ease comforts. I am kinda disappointed that lots of those descriptions only seem to describe a single room rather than overall the house. But oh well.

>Abandoned Place
Infrastructure and communication may be shit, but there'll be plenty to see and explore, at least.

Libraries are nice. Knowledgeable people are useful. Maybe the guy will tell me what the hell is going on if he's so knowledgeable. Why some Marie is mentioned but not presented as a character to meet, though?

She also seems knowledgeable, just in different way. Plus, better be on a good side of what seems to be a stalker.

She seems cute, even if she dresses like a slut.

Alright, that one's knowledgeable too. Gonna help me learn what's what.

What? A fucking year? Well, great, CYOA, I'll be fucking evicted and my family will be in trouble without me being able to help. Thanks a bunch, I thought it was meant to be comfy. Fuck. Guess there's no point in writing my thesis now.

>Librarian
I know Anthony now and apparently Marie is not important enough to warrant her own portrait and descriptions so who the hell cares about her. Anyway, I do like libraries, gonna work in library.

>Friend
Oh look, Marie's here after all. Good riddance, where the hell were you girl? Books? Books are fine, though I doubt we like the same genres. But I am interested in the magic stuff. The stuff we have IRL is hard to get through. Crowley wasn't the best writer, no matter what hermeticists claim.

Some do, some don't, some only do certain times of the year. For example, when poisonous spiders find their way indoors to escape the heat or cold, it's a safer idea to wear shoes if you're in one of those places where it's almost impossible to keep them from getting inside.

Either way, Nanomachines seem hands down like the best option and Tony Stark is the only mentor that can provide them. Only problem is that increasing the power of T2 Nanomachines (7 points) by an order of magnitude, however you want to describe it, trivializes the entire CYOA.

I mean, it's alright. There are other series that do better what it did on most fronts. None of you sound like you even know what you're talking about

This is fucking hilarious
>>
>>54577263
I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DEFENDING TOLKIEN

IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO GO LIKE THIS
>>
Tolkien was a better world-builder
Martin is a better writer, period

This isn't exactly rocket science, cheesy as it sounds
>>
>>54577312
Martin is a horrible writer though.
>>
>>54577044
Martin's world is literally europe on its side.
>>
>>54577291
What? You dare to deny our knowledge about Tolkien? She was the best writer of Naruto fanfiction ever and we'll proudly speak of her achievements! The wonderful stories of Naruto's main protagonist, Yoda, trained Han Solo on Dagobah to become Sith Knight will always live in our hearts!
>>
>>54577329
He's not horrible, but he's not 'great' either.
He writes well enough to relay his creation really damn well though.

To say Tolkien was better is a pretty big stretch.
Unless you consider his form your taste, I guess.

Martin is among the worst fantasy writers I've ever read.

Tolkien being bad is a meme spread by retards who think they're special for hating something popular. This is unlike me; I hate people who are popular and also for plebs.
>>
>>54577312
How the fuck you can like a guy who spends time on dog rape, diarrhea, and dragon suckling I have no idea. Unless Martin's fetishes are just your fetishes, which explain everything.
>>
>>54577348
WRITING DOESN'T MEAN PROSE YOU FUCK

writing includes story, and character
>>
>>54577348
>Tyrion reflected on the men who had been Hand before him, who had proved no match for his sister’s wiles. How could they be? Men like that... too honest to live, too noble to shit, Cersei devours such fools every morning when she breaks her fast.
Top notch

Martin is the modern Tolkien

Deal with it, you fucking plebeians
>>
>>54577371
>WRITING DOESN'T MEAN PROSE
Really makes you think
>>
>>54577386
Martin is far too fetishistic to be compared to Tolkien in style.
>>
>>54577386
You're just going to make them screech louder while they fap to nudes of Galadriel
>>
>>54577393
Prose = the literal layout of the words. Like, how pretty it all is.

Writing = literally everything about writing a book. The themes, plot (which IS important in writing), character, and yeah, prose.

On a prose level Tolkien's...competent, which is slightly better than Martin.
>>
>>54577363
Yessss, slather me in that hot sticky bias of yours.

I agree

You're all retarded hipsters. Neither Tolkien nor Martin were really good writers, but they were wonderful at imagining stories and even if it didn't translate wonderfully into text, it was enough to be enjoyable. So people enjoyed it. The way they also enjoyed derived works. To bitch and moan about shit taste just because someone enjoyed something is a mark of being an elitist prick with little of consideration, but oversized ego - and thus, a proof that judgement of such person isn't worth much.
Now stop derailing a fucking thread before janitors will clean it out.
>>

>Martin is the modern Tolkien
That's actually a surprisingly good comparison, but only if we won't count the impact on the genre as a whole.
>>
You should all just be thankful that Western literature(and fiction in general) is far superior to that of Japanese shit.

Anime will never be taken seriously by the world's critics at large, not unless its Ghibli material.
>>
>>54577437
>Prose = the literal layout of the words. Like, how pretty it all is.
Could you be more retarded? The prose is the medium through which the reader experiences all those other things you mention. Good characters and plot don't mean shit if you can't convey it well through your words.
>>
>>54577502

Blocked. Disregarded. Shunned.

Don't you dare reply to me again.

Anon, I want to be clear when I say GRRM doesn't even reach the level of "boner fights by fantasy elitists". He's not even in the running. The elitists fight over Wolfe and Peake, i.e. good authors.

Psychic - Mantis.

I choose her because she's alright, but generally her style of fighting is what appeals to me, along with her power points.

4 Physical
5 Psychic
3 General

Physical
>Speed 1
>Durability 2

Psychic
>Domination 1
>Telekineses 2

General
>Teleport 2, able to teleport myself and others instantly anywhere I like. Maybe even from other worlds/dimensions if possible/allowed.

Gear
>Lair 1
>Shield 1

Well I got everything I wanted. Basically a traveler who can attack and even fly through telekineses, super durable and means of quick escapes. Also mind control.
>>
>>54577637
Elitists do need to actually feel like they're elite though.
>>
>>54577632
Why are we comparing cartoons to novels as if they are the same thing? It's not like the west has serious critically acclaimed cartoons. Japan has some novelists that do pretty well worldwide.

Meh, depends. Cartoons are dominated by anime and mostly because west sees anime as cartoons.

>>
>>54577913
>>54577913
You can, but "western media is superior to japanese because classic western novels are taken more seriously than japanese scribbles". If you want to make that argument there are better ways to do it than that. It's like if you tried to claim Japan was superior because Murakami is more critically acclaimed than King of the Hill.
>>
>>54577953
what the fuck
>>
>>54577953
And you didn't help. From descriptons online it seems like it's some elaborate troll though it may be interesting - I still would like to read some free bit of it before deciding. Certainly won't throw money blindly.
