I've never ran an RPG in my life, and I just rolled up a friend's stats for him. He didn't roll anything under 4 (for reference, the game determines 3 as the average stat for everyone). Do you think they're too high? I really don't know much about DMing so I don't want to fuck with the balance of the game.

There's nothing that says you can't break the ceiling while rolling, so I'd say you can. It's the advantage of that system in the first place; you can have better stats than point buy allows. Of course, it can also screw you with low rolls. But thems be the bends, m'boy.

My campaign is a blast and my players are awesome.

I don't want to reveal too many of my plans, because if my players read about it here I don't want the surprised to be spoiled.

I will say this: I'm about to introduce miniature war game rules. Each PC will be a unit commander for a group of Monty Mole sappers, spear guy infantry, toad farmer/soldiers, etc.

I really like the Mario RPG system.

I was thinking, instead of the joke ability, they could have something bean related (I mean as the beans you find underground in the mario and luigi games) but I don't really know how to make one. I tought something like you get a +1 more in a stat of your choice after each level up in addition of the one you get by default, but i think that would slowly spiral out of control making Beanish the strongest characters in the later levels.
Or even a Pi'illo race, do we have any of those?

I think the game looks neat but to be fair it's not really based on Paper Mario. The die-based skill checks are wildly unlike the input-based original games, I get that it's the easiest way to do it but it still has to be noted as a stark deviation from the source material that not everyone will like.

You know, it doesn't make sense to me that X-Nauts' talent in coordination and efficiency would cause just themselves to gain power. Inklings (and by extension, Octolings) have indeed already been hashed out on the Discord, since someone is playing one in a campaign there. Here's the important stuff.

>Race: Inkling (+1 Heart, +1 Coolness, -1 Smarts)
>Inklings are humanoid cephalopods with a propensity towards excitement and adventure. They are brave and sociable, but rarely engage in more intellectual pursuits. Their ink-filled bodies can shift between a humanoid form and a tiny, extremely nimble squid form. Any gear the Inkling is wearing in humanoid form is absorbed into their body when changing into squid form and then returned when changing back.
>An incapacitated inkling dissolves into an immobile puddle of ink with all their gear collapsing into a heap on top of it. When they regain consciousness, they revert into squid form and their gear is reabsorbed into their body, unless it was stolen.

>You're a Kid, You're a Squid (Inkling racial): An Inkling can freely transform between their humanoid form and their squid form at any time (in combat, this is a free action). The squid form is practically defenseless and cannot wield objects, but they are immensely faster when travelling through non-hazardous fluids, including water and their own ink.

>Squid Super Jump (2 FP, Innate): An Inkling, in squid form, can jump an extreme distance via a high-pressure ink squirt, covering major height and distance. The Inkling must have a predesignated target and otherwise have a clear idea of where he's going to land. A Speed (2) test determines deviance when landing on-target. In battle, this can serve as a (Power x 2) tackle/jump against an enemy.
