Alright, anons; about to start work on updating this to match the new version of Altering History. I will collect any specific requests and additions for the duration of this thread.

Also! A question about designing a Quest DLC for Mentor/Lover/Rival/Friend (I forget the order myself). Obviously there will be a limit on how many quests you can do. Do you prefer CYOAs where the quests and their difficulty are described, and it's left up to your imagination whether you can be successful, or do you want some kind of mechanic limiting which specific quests you are suited for? I know which I prefer, but if the opinion is strong in the opposite direction, I can be flexible.

If there is a limit on quests you can do i prefer that it is made by requirements instead of an arbitrary limit. But still there should be mentioned that if you can do the quest it should not mean that you can instantly succeed only that you can do it.

FIRST. SEED DRILLS

The seed drill does three things. First, it ploughs, then it drops seeds, then it buries the seeds. Ploughs are easy, any agricultural society knows how they work. Ploughshares are ploughs made with iron or steel for cutting through tough sod. Planting means dropping a steady stream of seeds. Actual seed drills use a kind of paddle and drive wheel setup you see on seed spreaders, they just are missing the spreader bit. Burying the seeds just means covering them with dirt, a wooden loop can do that.

SECOND, FERTILIZATION

If you want to plant crops year after year, you need fertilization. This is actually pretty complicated but there are two things you can use in a pre-industrial setting. Shit and Mulch. Manure just means letting the cows and pigs graze on the land when it's not good for growing crops. Mulch is a bit more complicated. First, put all the organic trash like leaves, saw dusts, and fruit peels into a gigantic heap. Then let it sit until it all goes crumbly. If the heap turns warm it's working. After about half a year you can rake it over an open field for better crop yields.

THIRD, CROP ROTATION

You probably know this one, basic two field system means you grow stuff on a field one year and let the soil recover the next. With a three field thing you grown grains one year, beans and peas the next, and cow food the next. Rule of thumb is that the really starchy food on the first year and not so starchy on the next. Rice is weird because you don't need to do this at all but as a rule you need to rotate crops.

Last summer, when Altering History was released, there was an awful lot of roleplay. It got many anons quite upset because for a bit it was drowning out a lot of other activity in the thread, here. I don't want to repeat that, so I don't think doing it *in* excessively in this thread would be a harmonious solution.

I greatly prefer quests where the difficulty and the circumstances are described and then it is up to me to figure out I can succeed/fail given my previous choices. I don't mind requirements like this quest requires a mage or someone with a particular background in order to go on it, but I would feel that it is better when it is embedded into the quest descriptions itself, rather than a purely mechanistic approach. Also, I feel like the first option fits the Mentor, Lover, Friend and Rival CYOA much, much more because it is up to me to choose who fills what rolls and the come up with how interactions between the five of us would play out. Like if you add a quest component then pretty much a person will be able to read through it and create a highly personalized story for themselves, and it will be unique to each person (i.e. dodge all or almost all min/maxing).

Under the items section it says you can summon them to you at will, and that includes after being reborn. For the 120 point fate, you have to "lose" 10 points of purchases with each rebirth. Ymir himself is now bound to an artefact in my possession, one that has been reinforced and enhanced by my own skills in artifice.

Then, because I have some points left over and why the fuck not, I’ll summon a pair of Huldra as shoulder sprites. I have the powers of Ogna and Bora, allowing me to enlarge those shoulder sprites up to regular human size to serve as my mistresses.

Finally, I return to the class that I was teaching, announce that all the annoying little shits have failed, and peace out.

SDA was ripping into a WIP, anon(or the WIP author) countered with his own opinion. SDA sperged out that someone dared have an opinion to challenge his. It's always people playing casters in my experience that get really triggered about suggestions that maybe martials should be allowed to actually do something.
Sometimes these people also also devs. Like the time Pathfinder dev tied a mouse cord around his wrist and flailed around like spastic retard. Since the mouse didn't fly into his hand, rules got erratad to make picking up a dropped weapon that was tied to your wrist harder.
It's completely 3E thing too, martials were so much better in 2E and casters were worse.
