The Rubric saved every remaining Thousand Sons life. Without him they would have all died of the flesh change. Rubric Marnies can still be saved as has been shown so he just needs to find the knowledge in the Black Library.

Besides there are probably more Thousand Sons now then there were at the time of the Rubric. Except now they're all powerful sorcerers who only exist because Ahriman managed to go against the wishes of a god and his own Primarch to save his legion.

The Rubric was the will of Tzeentch. Ahriman serves Tzeentch's design while not knowing it. Something that Be'lakor found really funny. In fact, no one served Tzeentch better than Ahriman.
