I picked daemons because it was underrepresented at my LGS and I read a few years of backlogged blog posts on daemons40k about them being anti-meta, which was pretty true for a while since you could just play your own random shit while ignoring the enemy. my favorite kind of villains are the most depraved. I mean their villains they are not meant to be kinda bad right? I play both dark eldar and slaanesh and I find that I play them as I always gravitate towards the more fucked up and irredeemable races in fantasy. the dark eldar I love simply for their sadism and the levels of fucked up they can be. I think it was recently hinted on GW facebook that Daemons aren't getting a Codex for quite awhile.

Someone asked if they would even need the Chaos Index if the CSM Codex is coming out soon with Legion rules, and he basically said if you still want to play Daemons or Renegade Knights that index will be useful for a long time.

Pretty much confirms the theory that they're going to hold off on updating at least one major Faction per index for as long as possible to keep selling them. That's basically the nail in the coffin for blissfully delusional Tau players who think they're getting a Codex this year.

Yeah GSC are probably at the ass-end of the list unless they roll them into the Tyranid Codex like back in 2nd edition. But GW isn't going to bank on GSC alone selling Index Xenos 2, they put Tau in so they'd have a popular army to force sales of that book after Nids and Orks got updated, who are at the top of the list of old books.

Even if Tau are pushed forward for some inscrutable bad-business reason this year they would then fall into a rules-only release slot. New models for Tau are a long way away, their last update was way too recent.

All signs point towards Orks being the first Xenos race to get model updates in 8th. Tyranids will probably be a rules-only release.

Elites look fine, stick Belial and apothocary behind your knights, find a bottle neck the enemy will come at and you can hold even against a Primach.

Storm shield might be a bit much for your librarian, he gets 5++ anyway and I doubt you'll ever move him infront of your men so most wont be able to fire on him anyway. Useful if you want him in combat I guess but most of the game he's going to be smiting or destroying the enemies rolls.

Troops look fine, could maybe make a 10man squad from the points you save from the Champion - I really see no point in him or the Ravenwing one other than cheap HQ if you need him, maybe I'm missing something and you have a plan?

heavy support is perfect, maybe a combi-plasma or grav on your sergeant, cheaper anyway and gives you extra shots/choice.

overall it will be fun I think. Much more options than my 2000 point Deathwing I'm using tomorrow.

How do you deal with brush curling?

I've got some armypainter and citidel standard brushes and they all start to curl on the tip after a few weeks of use.

I've tried running them under hot water and trying to press and pull them straight but they stay curled. Eventually the curl widens so much that the brush won't hold a point anymore and the bristles just stay splayed and useless.

They didn't, the GK just managed to kill the one wielding it (or being used by it) at great cost, tried everything in their power to destroy the weapon (and we're talking everything, probably including crazy things like tossing it into a plasma reactor) but could not even put a scratch on it. Being unable to destroy it, the GK decided to give the sword to their most uncorruptable warrior who can resist its temptations and whispers (for the longest ?) just to keep it out of ... well any hands really, even non-purifier GK can't bear being close to the sword for too long.
Whoever is the guardian of the sword can't rest really, or let the sword out of his grasp, because it does crazy things like slip out of a scabbard, summon daemons in an attempt to slay its guardian if the barrier between the warp and reality is weak enough, drive mortals crazy so they attack whoever is guarding it ... it's pretty nuts.

That is enough to pretty much instantly stomp on Marines, primaris or otherwise, light vehicles and Termies.

Why? Traitor Legions had unique rules that weren't the same as 7th editions Chapter Tactics or Angels of Death Detahment rules.

There might be some overlap like I said but I'd count on at least 70% of all the rules and stratagems being pretty unique. They can't just keep copypasting the same Chapter Tactics over and over. It wouldn't work for Hive Fleets or Regiments or Forge Worlds, so why would they do it for Legions when they're going to have to come up with unique rules for everybody else anyways?

Skyrays are pretty terrible when you can just put the seeker missiles on a Hammerhead and buff it to BS2+ with Longstrike. Honestly, it seems like the only way you'd ever run a Seeker missile now. I think the only other way to get a 2+ Seeker hit is with Remoras + DC + 5 ML, and that's suuuuuper niche.

If you wanna save magnets just do SMS. Unless the Tau codex gives us deep striking Relentless Broadsides again (and I kind of doubt it will) I don't see PRs ever being all that useful on them. You need to be in RF range for PRs to do any damage and you don't generally want a Broadside to be <12" away from what it's shooting at.

Yes, I know. I actually like night lords, and they are more of ambush and sabotage than sneaky beaky. For that reason, I see them with the infiltrating options vs the actual stealth options that RG have. However, there's the old lore that night lord armor has projectors on it that breaks up their form, which is what the lighting is supposed to be, but I don't know how cannon that is anymore.

I was curious about the particle shredder, but it struck me as a overtuned Gauss Flayer.
The heat ray is only 2 shot, but it flat out denies armor saves and straight up murders characters at half range.

Any opinions on the Lycheguards? I am very excited about buying 10 and send them off with Warscythes. It seems like overkill in 70% of the cases but with these new 2W chadmarines, who knows? Lychguards with Nightscythes looks pretty appealing. You got any experience there?

Okay, we have a serious issue.

It's obvious GW wants the Primaris to eventually replace the manlets. There are few problems with that regarding the generic marine soldiers.

But the problem is for names marines, and leaders. It looks bad when Azrael or Dante are fucking manlets leading an army of giants, when they should be the tallest and meanest motherfuckers in the chapter.

Oh, by no means is that the total list. I have tank-killing models in there. Illuminor Szeras, for one, the Stalker is a tank-killer, an Annihilation Barge, stuff like that. But the Immortals are there for capping objectives and eating charges (only 6's hit, lol thats 3 hits). All this while my scarabs and wraiths are running around the field willy nilly.

Plus, I took down a wave serpent at full with a squad of Tesla Immortals. Yes, it was with the 5+ and the re-roll 1's, but it happened.

Ideas for a theme for a Death Guard army?

I've got 2 sets of the DG half of DI and 3 of the easy build Plague Marines.

How can I make it thematic in terms of lore or gameplay? I'm going for a generic paint job so, nothing special there.

I was first introduced to and played 40k during second edition when a friend got the starter box as a birthday or Christmas present. He liked the Marines so I played as the Orks, eventually a couple of kids in our little group were playing. As a poor kid though 40k was very expensive and so I never owned any myself. I was pretty weak willed and they managed to convince and manipulate me into playing games where they were using more complete balanced forces their richer families had been able afford to buy them so I almost always lost. They would also cheat fairly often. A little later on though I did manage to find a cheap starter box of 2nd edition Epic (then called Space Marine) and they got into that game too, though with similar eventual results as they ended up with collections so much larger (I never was able to expand much past the base set) I ended up playing Orks again. Complementing the Ork force in the starter box with units of theirs.

Years later I had fallen out of contact with the group of friends from that time and happened to make a new friend who by chance was interested in 40k and had an Eldar Army. Around this time was when third edition 40k was released this time with the new Dark Eldar faction and Marines. It was much cheaper to buy the starter box than to buy the equivalent units of a faction not in the box +the rulebook, and so still being poor but now older and wanting to play with my new friend I saved and saved and eventually picked it up. I really liked the Craftworld Eldar story and models and having bad memories of those older games versus the dickish Marine Players, Dark Eldar was the obvious choice between the two.

Had things gone a differently I probably would have ended up as maybe a Marine or more likely Eldar or Guard player.

False, it's a "ghost in the machine," that exists in many different Imperial tech. While low-level tech like a Lasgun has an extremely primitive "machine spirit" - to the point where praying to it really is more of a superstition than just plain maintenance and diagnostics - but the more complex the tech gets the more advanced the machine spirit gets, to the point where things like starships and Titans are virtually sentient in all but name. Titan princeps consistently have to restrain the violent urges of their machine spirits to effectively use them in battle, and it's a very real danger that a Knight or Titan can "overpower" the mind of its pilot and more-or-less "possess" him. That's why mental fortitude is so much more essential to high-level piloting and machine interface.

Things in the middle level, like battle tanks and complex weapon-systems, are very "animalistic," but many still have noticeable personalities and objectively do respond better when proper overtures and appeasments to its spirit are made when performing maintenance. There is even an instance of a Land Raider fighting without a crew (though this is an extreme example).

TL;DR everything from non-existent to a sentient AI, depending on the machine.

not sure where I read it, but I remember seeing a rumor that Dark Vengeance would be repackaged similar to how Island of Blood was for Age of Sigmar.

Anyone know if this might happen? As it's a shame to let such good chaos sculpts just die because they never released outside of that box.
