I don't wanna tell you what you should and shouldn't build, but I highly suggest using a different commander and throwing Hazoret in the 99

If you want to play some kind of madness/hellbent jank then you're a thousand times better off playing RB. Maybe use the older Neheb or even Mogis. Essentially, your gameplan would be to build a good board state and then make every player discard their hands, but since you've designed your deck to survive by topdecking, you'll come out ahead. You can run lots of flashback and madness cards to mitigate your constant self-discard (Army of the Damned and Faithless Looting for example). You can put in additional discard synergy too, like Waste Not.

It's probably not the strongest archetype to build but pretty unique and at least somewhat viable

Plus since you're in RB colors, you can run pic related, which is always a hoot

If the leaks are anything to go by, C17 looks pretty darn good. I'm preordering all four decks and buying up some extra pieces before they spike.
Ixalan should have some neat tribal stuff, at least. Not a fan of checklands rising in price, but I'll take that hit if I can get a sick-ass grixis pirate or naya dino commander.
Dominaria seems like it should be a boon for commander. Hopefully a bunch of legendaries running around.

I think I'm burning out on EDH fellas. I haven't built a new deck or theorycrafted in months, six months at least. I barely even play and keep on making up excuses to avoid going to the weekly games with my friends.
I've completely stopped going to the games at the local store because I had a few really tiresome experiences in a row, games which just straight sucked to play in. I'm bored with most of my decks, even though I've done my best to have a variety of playstyles with kind of interesting mechanics and multiple yet redundant lines of play. I've built most of my decks to be themeish and/or to showcase interesting interactions, to keep myself mechanically interested but it isn't really working.

What do I do, /edhg/?
Should I sell all my cards, get a cash injection of a few thousand dollars? Should I put them in a box and take a proper break from the game? Should I try and get myself excited again? Maybe start going to the weekly games with my friends regularly and engaging more with the games and with my friends?
Should I just take a break?

That's probably the best option. I might leave it until Unstable comes out, play a whole bunch of that, and buy a box or two for drafting and then take a year or so off. Maybe sell off a lot of the chaff, bulk rares and peripherals I have, only keeping my decks, money folder and some stuff which pleases me to own like my foil myr collection.

Clerics are an very unfun tribe to play.
It's painfully slow, and you end up relying on boring pillowfort strategies to survive long enough to combo off. It's just not satisfying, for either you or your opponent.

Pic related is pretty great though, along with Rotlung Reanimator, Westvale Abby and Battletide Alchemist. They're the highlights of only a small handful of good cleric tribal cards, while the others are all frustrating combo-pieces that don't work well on their own.

If wizards did make a cleric tribal deck then they'd have to add a ton of new cards to make them viable and interactive. I can't recommend you try them as they are.

It's far better to run a basic in a lot of mono color, especially if you're running support like strata scythe or gauntlet of might/power. Or supplement your lacking drawpower with a sea gate wreckage/geier reach sanitarium etc. In 2+ colors definitely run a command tower however, especially if you don't use basics or anything like that.

Sol ring is totally a staple though. You can ramp to 5 mana turn two if you drop land, Sol ring, tap for signet and play a land next turn. That's huge.

I wanted to make use of the new White Zombies from Amonkhet, so I decided to make a Esper Zombie deck. Unfortunately, there are no good Zombie Esper commanders. Only 2 that actually benefit the deck are Zen Triplets (Which benefits any deck) and Oloro (Because of the lifegain) But neither actually works with the deck.

Is it worth splashing into Red so I can use Kraum, Ludevic's Opus and Ravos, Soultender as the commanders? In my experience, the best EDH decks have 1 of 2 strategies.

1) Commander benefits the rest of the deck and allows it to function, or improves it's ability to function
2) Deck's purpose is to fuel the commander, make his ability work better.

I like the fact that Ravos does 1 and Kraum does 2.

On the other hand, there is fuck all in the way of Red zombies (A few exceptions like Neheb and Grixis Grimblade) and almost nothing in the way of other red cards I want to use in the deck.

What would you guys recommend?

What cards are essential for a 'delve package' in Grixis colours? Right now I'm running Cruise, Dig, Tasi's Cruelty, and Murderous Cut. Might add a Logic Knot cause it's cool and I like it.

I've got Thought Scour, Think Twice, Faithless Looting, and Ancient Excavation for stuff that's there almost strictly for grave fuel, in addition to . Anything flagrant I'm missing? No wheels pls

Just go with the partners and run the few grixis zombies you want. Splashing red doesn't mean you HAVE to include red cards. Add a few mana rocks like Darksteel Ingot and a couple mountains to fetch with Evolving Wilds, and you're good to go.

This is what caused me to quit magic and sell my collection the first time back around 2011. All I played was EDH, not long after wizards amde commander an official product and released the precons popularity exploded. I had a bunch od really shitty games in a row and had no desire to play any more.

I completely sold out of the game, a decision I 100% regret mostly because of the sheer amount of money I wasted. It was a few months or a year later that modern was a sanctioned format and my collection would have spiked in price. I started playing again this past fall and have had a lot of fun, even if I missed some fo the coolest sets and the recent ones I haven't liked that much.

Not him, but I have had my deck explode and cards flying everywhere because of new non-matte sleeves. I've had it happen with mattes as well, but it happens much less. Shiny sleeves usually get sticky after a while, even though I always wash my hands before and after I play. I don't eat anything during matches.
