Mainly CW ynnari vs Dark Angles.

His army is Azzi supporting a firebase of dreads and razorbacks, with ravenwing wing bikes flier, a damn darkshroud, and some scouts.
Mine is pretty I'll post the whole thing if interesting.

Mission: the Relic. neither of use have tons of infantry. Table is desert themed with rock pillers, fallen pillars and outcroppings. The 4 outcroppings are normal cover, we rule the Pillars act like barricades, but without the charge effect and count for all units if obstructing 50%.

Deployment, regular long side. He deploys his main bubble towards the center, with scouts stake out cover along one side.
Put one dark reapers in my only good cover to side opposite the scouts, WS with banshees counters the scouts, the rest spread along the middle.

Turn one, I can't fucking psykic, no conceal on the Wraithfighter, no fortune from the farseer. Do reveal on scouts. between that and banshees clear most out. Fail to kill the damn dark shroud. Claim the center pretty hard, things near each other for support and soulburst.

He responds by sending the raven wing up to do some serious damage to my main troops. clears the guardians off the relic, scourges down to one blaster, lose some bikes and a unit of dark reapers.
WS and Helmlock manage to survive, but injured by the firebase around azzi.

My friend tried something like this. IIRC, part of the back spine was missing so he had to make a mold for it. But don't take my word for it, check the sprues to be sure. Look for the upper back/neck spine parts

From this point on it's a heavy piece trading, me taking down the raven wing, him continuing to take down my units after wittling them down. I'm getting much better at figuring out soulburts chains, but tense moments trying to pull those off. Lots of things left at 1-2 wounds for too long.

Game ends with 2 dreads on and a scout to my 1 wound Autarch and 2 warlocks. But I've pulled the relic out of LoS to the dreads.

Highlights:
Autarch wrecks some face. Turn 1 he's a buff bubble, but when the lines hit: Laserlance, twin catapult, fusion gun does nasty things, and then gets a soulburst to do it again. Then charges to use the lance.
Also I got to joust down a plane.

Azzi dies to his own overcharged plasma (won me the damn game). 1/36 chance, but slain is slain.

Last scout just snips out my farseer.

Looking at Haemonculus options; they by default have a Splinter Pistol (Pistol 1, wounds non-vehicles on 4+, AP0, D1, costs 0pts), but can replace it with one of the "Tools of Torment". One of these is the Stinger Pistol, which has an identical profile as far as I can tell, but cost 7pts. Why, though? Why have an identical option that just costs extra points? What am I missing?

Combi-plasma with a reroll from a Lord is good.
Plasma only kills you when supercharged.
An axe is a good all rounder melee weapon, sword is good for characters with good armor, maul is good for high toughness low armor monsters.

Two question:
One rules wise. The wrack leader can take the range weapon option, but those say "replace a range weapon" and they don't start with a ranged weapon. Do they need to give up the 1 per 5 range weapon option to get one?

Second: For the melee options. Just stick with the agonizer, or go with the more expensive whip, the more likely to wound vemon blade, or the extra attack on the scissor hands.
Question for both wracks and haemonculus.
The haemonculus probably doesn't want the scissor hands as he has lot of attacks base, but the wrack seems like an option.

If you drop them with a Chaos Lord, take combi-plasmas and maybe a few combi-meltas if you also wanna ruin the day of large model units. Then maybe give one or two a powerfist and/or chainfist.
I'd only go all-out on expensive melee weapons if you drop them with a sorcerer in terminator armour that casts warptime on them, otherwise that 9'' charge is just too much of a gamble.

Noxious Blightbringer is a good addition to get your poxxes in there a lot faster. I'd say drop the fists on the champions and only give them a combi plasma and then use the extra points to give each squad another special weapon. Either another plasma or blight launchers are your best bets. I'd personally add in a bloat drone or two for how damn good they are. After that, a full las cannon pred is nice for long range firepower.

So, for anyone doing the campaign, what have you got mustered for the themes?
For me I'm skipping week 1 since I can't afford a new Start Collecting right now but;
Week 2: gonna get a box of Chaos Marines and model/paint them up as Chosen
Week 3: Have a Soul Grinder that I got in time for the muster
Week 4: custom Daemon Prince of Slaanesh, just hope the Herald arrives in time for me to build it
Week 5: gonna buy Warp Talons
Week 6: custom terrain made from the bloodwrack shrine I bought to use the medusa bits for my Daemon Prince

Splitting weapons over multiple units isn't as bad as it used to be with everything having split fire.

RIP Necrons.

So, I've been playing Necrons for years now. Under 7th edition I know the formations were OP as fuck, and I know lots of people abused the shit out of it. But my gaming community had a CAD only rule, and that's all I ever ran. I never spammed wraiths or tomb blades. I never cheesed with them in general.

I have to give GW props for 8th edition. It is a massive improvement over the previous editions. But what the fuck were they thinking when they wrote the rules for Necrons? This army that I have spent thousands of dollars on, and hundreds of hours painting, is so bad, that there's no point even using them in casual games now.

It's like they forgot to play test any of the units. It feels like you are playing with half the points of your opponent. Especially against chaos, space marines or Tau.

GG, games workshop. You gave Necrons the nerfs that Tau and Eldar deserved.

Necrons are tough but in return have truly awful damage output. Necron warriors are the only good unit they getnoutside of forgeworld, everything else is mediocre.

I don't have the Indexes yet but from what I see in Battlescribe it looks like Fire Prisms can fire using all the Prism profiles during shooting... did Battlescribe miss or not include some rule about how many times the Prism can be fired?
