>long time player, first time GMing a game that's not premade
>nobody else in the group volunteered, so I decided to step up and do it myself to build some experience
>group of 4, 2 more experienced players, 2 completely new to TTRPGs
>decide to start with something that's rather cliche, but could help with new players getting into the game, in the form of a bulletin board with jobs
>have a good idea of how shit will turn out in my head
>nothing goes as I planned, which would be fine were it not for the fact that I have no idea how to deal with that
>completely incapable of getting my points across
>players keep getting distracted by minor shit
>one (former) foreverDM player keeps criticizing everything I do in a way that's not constructive enough for me to use
>probably permanently ruined the new player's perception of TTRPGs
I'm getting more and more respect for those people on /tg/ who complain about their GMing woes, but I just don't think I'm cut out for something like this.
general shitty GM thread by the way

As in during the game? What a cunt nugget. If he did it afterwards, that's different, though.
Have you read through Robin's Laws of Good Gamemastering? It can help. A lot of GMing is in the attitude and the ability to roll with the blows, but RLoGG can be a pretty useful first step.
Another bit of advice is read through John Wick's "Play Dirty," and then do the exact opposite of what that asshat tells you to do.
