In a magical world where one of the most powerful magic objects in the world is a sword that is longer and lighter than it looks, (the rest is just invisible and weighs nothing) what would be a good magic ability for magic rings that are "cut from the same cloth" as the sword to give to my 4 players? (One to each player)
I'm open to any ideas. I have a few myself but mine are all very similar and I'm afraid i'm getting tunnel vision.

If that's one of the most powerful magic swords I can't help but think that regardless of what you come up with, players will be better off selling 99% of these items to collectors rather than using 'em themselves

The items are seen as a proof of the existence of gods and their will manifest on Earth. Finding or being in posession of one of the objects could be seen as Manifest Destiny and I doubt players will give up an item that is seen as that important.

It's still pretty niche and unimpressive.

Yeah but there still is no way that the PC's are going to sell or turn down "god items."
>a ring that helps in uneven ground
>a ring that gives off light at night, but has to be charged by the sun in the day.
>a ring that gives a small boost to willpower.
>a ring that produces a quiet hum when near a large amount of gold.

I really like the uneven ground one. Maybe one that doubles dexterity in regards to acrobatics but not only in non-combat scenarios?

But if they're essentially just symbolic then what's it matter what they do? Just look up a list of minor magic items and pick out something suitably parlor trickish.

Because giving the party as a whole a skill that brings them all together makes for a good plot hook and way for them be the only ones for the job in some cases. It makes them a special unit. Persona is a good example. Persona 5 is the best of them though.
