Lot of the rise of the empire dovetails off the Clone Wars, so their vehicles and equipment remain that way for a couple of years, they start phasing in stuff like Stormtrooper infantry roughly around the first year or two. Which are basically 'budget' versions of Clone troopers, who by and large are gone by about the 3-4yr mark. In terms of a bigger picture, the old D6 Imperial Handbook is worth a look- its not '100%' consistent and its no longer canon material, but IMO its well worth using for seeing how large the army's, navy and other assorted quasi-military units (Intelligence, Compnor etc) fit into the Empire.

Where does that fit into Pirates and Mercenaries?
Well for quite a period that's what was hunting them as the Empire came down hard on the outer rim to suppress the various survivors of the Clone wars, rebellious shitholes and Hutts. Out of them, only really the hutts managed to keep their shit together (via bribes and other nefarious activity) during the rise of the Empire and as a result where prime backers of anything more organised like large mercenary units, smugglers. That lasted until the New Republic, who basically wiped them out.
Pirates got hit really hard, the Imperial navy for all its retardation and having the appearance later of two monkeys trying to fuck a football, did actually wipe out anything pirate related very quickly.
Black Sun managed to hang onto things better than most, they made good money early on by not exactly 'pirate' activity, but they'd hijack a lot of people in the outer rim, hold them for ransom and other sorts of stuff- they also have the capability at least to make decent ships, fighters and enough money to hire effective soldiers, thugs and leg breakers
Neither are exactly 'great' employees

Privateers are a thing (see D6 book Pirates and Privateers) as going solo with the Imperial navy hunting you is short lived, having patrons helps a lot

Yes, this is true. And notice how everyone says that he is the only "good" and "likeable" character and the only one they cared about when he died. Literally because he was funny. K-2SO is easier to accept for me because he follows the Star Wars tradition of droid comic relief. It's not a role that I'm a fan of but I do find his banter funnier than R2/3PO and as the comic relief I don't expect anything more from him than that. But of course the fan reaction was pretty typical in a bad way as I mentioned before.

If it's a straight sword yes, but a curved, single-edged blade would be like pic related.

A regular sabre, for example, has the edge on the convex side and be held with the blade pointing "up" from your hand
A reverse blade, reverse grip saber would have the blade be on the concave side and be held away from you, along the forearm (like ahsoka holds her lightsabers)

>That lasted until the New Republic, who basically wiped them out.

The Hutts continued to be a powerful thing until at least the Vong times. The New Republic actually gave the Hutts more leeway and/or bribes than the Empire did as war repayment, almost akin to the USA and France in the American Revolution.

Hutts lent out a lot of aid to the Rebels and Imperials alike, depending on the individual Hutt's political stance (or more often and more important who offered the most money), and the NR had to repay quite a few promises they made to the Hutts in exchange for aiding the Rebellion, though they did go after Imperial-sided Hutts or neutral Hutts with varying degrees of ineffectivity.

So, rate this for me on a scale of 1 (nitpicky) to 10 (glorious golden autist)

My group is starting a game of Force and Destiny soon, and the GM was asking about our builds so he knew what to plan for. I told him my character was one of those "I have to be the best" types that want to learn multiple saber styles, so I made Brawn by main stat. It makes sense to me, if I'm going to use multiple styles then I I can't just use the ability associated with one style alone, and if I have to focus, to me it's not a bad idea to pick the stat that deals with both damage and defense. I also decided to with SHien for his first style, for blaster defense. The GM hears this and says that's wrong, because he has high Brawn he has to start with Shii-Cho. He's been complaining about it ever since.

Steal from Sword of the Stars.

1. Dolphin-drive. Gets exponentially faster the further it is from a gravity well, but gets exponentially slower the closer it gets to a gravity well.

2. Gate network. Instantaneous travel between gates, but you have to ship the gates from place to place at sublight.

3. Spacetime Tunneling. You have to "bore" through spacetime - takes longer and is more resource-intensive than normal FTL, but once you've established the path it is faster and more efficient. Routes gradually degrade and need to be maintained.
>>
>>54360466
I mean, yeah, you could pick up Shii-Cho despite having Brawn as your highest stat.

But Brawn doesn't increase your lightsaber damage at all. Not for real lightsabers, anyway.

Reading through Bloodline, their demise is actually kind of interesting
(genuine spoilers)
Lot of their subjugated species got support from former imperial forces and pro-imp forces in the New Republic, who essentially helped topple the major Hutt families and the Nikto put in place of those new cartels to run them- with nearly all the funds raised being channelled back to the New Order to fund military armaments and training. By around 30BBY they are just a tiny shadow of what they once where.
Hilariously though the NR basically have no functional intelligence services and they're remarkably incompetent cunts all over!

It sucks that we'll never really get a more grounded version of the NR.

In NuCanon it's stupidly incompetent and can barely function and sustain itself.

In a few Legends works it's fine, but in most it's hypercompetent and backed by a whole cavalcade of over-overpowered Mary Sues and Gary Stus, then it becomes stupidly incompetent when the Bothan dickery happens and even more incompetent when the Vong show up.

I never liked either interpretation of the New Republic but at least Legends had a few good stories about them.

>mean cool if that's your thing, your opinion man, but I'm talking more of Legends.
No, its just "a thing"
Look at it from my perspective, I've been running star wars games on and off since about 1993-94, (along with other games) with the vast majority of campaigns being roughly in the Rebellion era. Some being clone wars into rebel era, others being end of rebel era into (legends) New Rep and even faffed around in Old Republic a tiny bit. So when there's new material coming out, I'll chew through some of it for ideas on the setting and see if its workable for having players run around in and if they'd enjoy it.

Fairly much all of them are an alternative universe treatment, because lets face it no one wants to play for 6 months in game just to line up Luke Skywalker to stick a hot potato in an exhaust port- if anyone's doing that, it'll be a player.
At the moment, kind of a bit lost for ideas to run anything in the NR-NO era as there's just not enough material there for me to make something that's cohesive and interesting enough, I think given enough time and more material I'd be confident on being able to explore that aspect of the franchise's environment.

But I do have a 'Plan B' for my next campaign....
>evil laughter

>>54361596
Yeah I don't get it, I like the Empire because they're unapologetically arseholes all of the time. If the PC's are having a good time, there needs to be a stormtrooper pissing in their breakfast cereal every morning and then going out to their space truck to find the imperial navy has slashed the hydraulics to their landing gear because they didn't pay a bribe. Rebels are sort of the result of just being poked with the poo stick for too long
I don't run 'real world' politics alongside star wars because there's spaceships and mad cunts running around with laser swords that can electrocute you with their brain.
>>
>>54361877
I meant more in regards to /swg/ and respective sidefags going at each other because of their real world politics.

In games though I think it's best to show both sides as assholes with redeeming qualities. Both suck but they have good sides in different ways and have different goals the players may or may not want to side with. Making one side or the other the good guys of your campaign is boring as shit unless your campaign is an explicitly Imperial/Rebel campaign where you're there less for exploring the world and more for the tactical leet combat scenarios anyway.

Otherwise giving all political affiliations the greyshading and letting the players make up their minds or go independent is way better in open-er Edge of the Empire campaigns, fitting the narrative and setting better than the "My factionfu is the right choice and you're gonna like it" approach some take in their games, be it a game where Yoda is an evil psychopath on one extreme or the Empire kicks one of the players' puppies on the other extreme of demonizing one side to heroicize your factionfu.

Yeah real world politics can go take a flying fuck at a wall for all I care
Generally though I stick to things being black and white at first and then getting grey and murky over time as the PC's develop and explore their characters, NPC's and the galaxy as a whole. Plus I'll throw in the odd side-swipe out of nowhere like the series of game sessions of the Star Wars "Schindler's List" and just sit there laughing my arse off as they spent 2/3rds of the game looking at me going:
>He's going to fuck us
>The longer we go along with this, the harder the fucking!
>Oh we are so fucked now
Course the actual crisis of conscience Imperial they contacted, was actually legit and smuggled prisoners off to the rebel characters to look after- which then opened a whole can of worms in of itself as PC's find themselves with dozens of former prisoners they've got to bodge up some ID's for and get offworld. They where some tough missions.

Also done the flipside of them being Empire characters and that was an interesting series of conundrums based on military interactions with civilians and inter-org fucking lunacy- the army working with the stormtroopers working with the navy, who is being hassled by the ISB and then there's these arseholes from Compnor running around wondering if they're being loyal enough.
They literally prayed for some rebels to blow something up and save them from the relentless dickbags they worked for, which split the party down the centre-
>Half of them are going full murderhobo and getting kudos from superiors

I mean, all you have to do is swap the names and status of locations.

Whisper Base you can turn into a Rebel outpost and have the party be Imperial infiltrators.

Arda I can be Imperial defending against a massive Rebel assault.

Dead in the Water has Imperial privateers and an old Sep facility Rebels captured to make killbot droids, or something.

It's pretty easy to rig up anything from AoR for an Imperial campaign, or any kind of military campaign for that matter. Modifying Duty is about your biggest challenge.

There we go, even that's already done. Converting modules to Imperial adventures is easy and fun.

Now speaking of conversions I want to see a Star Wars Imperial Holiday Special. What would it be? A family of annoying probe droid talking in a language we can't understand while Vader tries to reach them for Emperor Day doing a variety show? Rebel agents break into their home and get distracted by 1970's rock bands? In the end Tarkin leads a bunch of robed Imperial Guards into a glowing light and then he sings about peace and order and triumphing over the Rebels while looking like he's on cocaine? Vader gives an awkward Han stare? And there's a cartoon about Boba Fett in there somewhere that the young probe droid watches. And tons of Harvey Korman.

I'm likely facing a (potentially Sloane) version of the ISD-1 Avenger with Boarding Troopers and Raider-1s with External Racks list soon.

I'm kicking around two different lists. What sounds better?

Ackbar on an HMC80 with the works, a TRC90, Garel's Honor with ERs, two flotillas, a bunch of A-Wings, and two shuttles plus a large bid for second with scary objectives.

Rieekan on an LMC80 with the works, two TF Antilles Hammerheads with ERs, an Assault Pelta with shields to maximum, a comms net flotilla, and a mostly rogue squadron force with a small bid for first.

I want to field the Hammerhead; I realise it doesn't have the best synergy with the Ackbar list but I think it can still pull its weight.

>>
>>54372859
Rey w/ Finn, Kanan, new title, and whatever else you want is a pretty solid set up

>>54373091
Pattern analyzer swaps the "perform action" and "check stress" steps. Normally you execute maneuver -> check stress -> perform action. With pattern analyzer you execute maneuver -> perform action -> check stress. So say you execute a green maneuver, you use pattern analyzer then perform an action. You then use push the limit to perform another action and stress yourself. Finally, you check stress. Since you executed a green maneuver, you remove one stress token.
>>
>>54373326
Thanks, that makes sense. Follow up to make sure I understand: say that you're stressed before you execute your maneuver. If you pick a green maneuver will you be unable to perform an action because you check for stress after the action step?

Forums are never good, and the game is beginning to 40k-inize. When there is a clear difference in power level between a casual list and a competetive list(listbuilding wise, as opposed to player skill), those groups interact less and tend to look down apon one or the other, which makes the community less welcoming with time.

That's why i'm in favor of massive sweeping nerfs, lest this game turn into the shitfest that is/was 7th ed 40k. If i say that on the forums though, retards crawl out of the woodwork.

So, I'm trying to work out an Executioner build that can hit automatic instakill crits (150+). I'm almost there; a guaranteed +140 on every attack. I need to know how I can hit the magic number.

Lightsaber:
Triumph on lightsaber-building roll. Adds an auto-advantage (automatic crit)
Max'd out krayt pearl adds Vicious 4 (automatic crit+40)
Extended Hilt mod adds Vicious +1 (automatic crit+50)
Superor Hilt Personalization adds auto-advantage (automatic crit+60)
Curved Hilt adds auto-advantage (automatic crit+70)

Character:
Executioner has 3 ranks of Lethal Blows (automatic crit+100)
The Anx species gives another rank of Lethal Blows (automatic crit+110)
Executioner talent "Marked for Death" lets you commit one force die for 2 auto-advantage (automatic crit+130)
Executioner talent "Essential Kill" adds FR to attacks, can spend FP to add advantage. Our 1 force die remaining (after committing one) has no blank sides, so guaranteed at least 1 advantage (automatic crit+140.

Are there any other ways I can add automatic advantage or another +10 to Critical Hit rolls? Or any way to get a melee weapon to an effective Vicious 8 and Crit 1? Preferably without absurd weapon-crafting shenanigans? I'm so close, I can almost taste it.

>inb4 "Just dip into Marauder"I'm trying to get this done with a minimal expenditure of XP (currently this costs 185). And, for much the same reason I'll only be satisfied with an automatic +150 crit before dice rolls, (i.e. autism) I want to stay within one class if I can. Ideall
y the solution would be gear-based.

>>
>>54377312
I know you said you'd prefer not to have "absurd weapon-crafting shenanigans", but I don't know if it can be done without it. This one here isn't too bad, as hypothetical crafted weapons go.

You'll need 12 advantage on the roll, or 8 advantage and a Triumph. Theoretically possible with PC-level stats, though not likely.

Start with the Vibro-Weapon template. Use six advantage to buy three Vicious boosts, as well as two to get another hard point. Spend your last four (or a Triumph) on lowering Crit rating to 1.

Vicious 4, crit 1, 4 hard points. One will go to Superior, the remaining three to Energy Overclock Setting from Keeping the Peace. Overclock can add both an automatic advantage and Vicious +3, and Superior gives another advantage.

Crit 1 plus 2 advantage plus Vicious 7 is a +80 crit on every attack, based purely on the weapon. By my math, your Anx Executioner will add 70 to that number (four ranks of Lethal Blows plus 3 guaranteed advantage), which should bring you to your automatic instakill.

That said, the "vorpal sword" this build relies on only has Brawn+1 and Pierce 2 for damage. Those crit rolls won't mean shit if you can't penetrate the soak, and forget about damaging vehicles. A lightsaber works better in that department, but I'm not sure if there's a way to give it any more crit boosts than you have.

I think cruise missiles killed it's EPT on the generic. We all thought it was TLT and/or ruthlessness, but you could run 3 at PS5 with double cruise, deadeye, LWF and basically any turret you like but TLT for a follow up. You can already run four with just double Cruise Missiles, that makes some nasty alpha strike packages at a higher PS than most other ships in that style.

That said, reports seem to be that despite its relative lack of flash, it's a very solid ship. A proper imperial workhorse.

I just don't see 4 cruise missile Onyx Escorts with deadeye and cruise control missiles being that good that they need to design around them- mass cruise seems decently easy to play around, especially on a 2 agility ship with 5 HP and effectively no tokens.

I just wanted a pair of generics to fly alongside an ace, but since you effectively can't load them up that well and Double Edge is strictly better...

If they're an Emperor's Hand they're already in the big leagues. Even a Navy pilot without crazy Force power like Steele was still being tasked with wiping out entire fleets of enemies. By the time you're an Emperor's Hand, hunting a jedi knight is tedium.

If you want to start the stakes lower, ISB agents or even Army or Stormtrooper commandos is a much better fit, then gradually progress to Hand status when they consistently prove power and worth.

I'm of the opinion that the entire original run of AFIIs had their washes fucked up and it was put on way too heavily, precisely because in the promo image you picked up on the color more matches the other Rebel ships. This isn't that surprising though, the original wave 1 run of Armada had the worst paintjobs and assemblies of any FFG minis ever.

We'll see if it's the same when the AFII gets reprinted. I'd actually probably pick up two more if they were the proper colors.

>I just don't see 4 cruise missile Onyx Escorts with deadeye and cruise control missiles being that good

Really? I can. I'm in agreement with other anon. 4x Onyx with deadeye, cruise, ABT, and GC sounds like goddamn cancer to me. That is a lot of firepower and closing ability in a list that's above virtually every other generic. Or take two and 50 points of other Imperial bullshit. Even one would make a solid flanker, and then you'd probably have the points for a better turret too. I'm glad there's not another stupid deadeye ship in the game.

Just played a game against the new hotness for Rebels where they replaced Braylen with Lowwrhick. God that was cancer. Never before have I so wanted for Imperials to take Arc caster. Vessery with Ruthlessness and Arc caster with /D would give all those close in Rebel lists something to seriously think about.
>>
>>54381282

Ah christ I wasn't even thinking about Chips. They're so vital and so gross at the same time.

I think the Onyx Escorts are a little underappreciated, they're a great platform for generic hunting with missiles or turrets if you really needed such a thing - I just don't think the game is in a place for that particular tactic to shine. Maybe. People are gonna try and run deadeye scurrgs.

>>54371190

Well, Rieekan got nerfed variably heavily (there's still some discussion as to whether he goes off at first opportunity or you still get to choose when he get's used)
If he's using Sloane then you can expect fighters, and those fighters will be ably to pretty heavily ablate your aces defence tokens and are also able to reroll crits when they attack ships. So, I'd say, expect Decimators? He could in theory chuck upto 5 of them (or 4+Rhymer for extra range*) into the Avenger with Expandohanger and RLB's and skullfuck something that thinks getting into the Avengers rear arc is a good idea.

So you'll have to consider non-ace answers to that. A-Wings seem like a good idea, althought to be honest good old X-Wings aren't that bad when it comes to dogfighting, neither are B-Wings. Mix in some unique squadrons like Rogue, Dagger and Green to taste.

Now if you want to use Hammerheads, maybe you should swap out Ackbar for Cracken, toss in the Garel's Honor title on a Hammerhead + Engine Techs and together with it's wingman just ram the fuck out his ISD. Move them last, at max speed with a Nav token ready and quadruple ram that fucker right through his shields in a single turn, and set yourself up so that when he tries to GTFO next turn you have follow up.
Otherwise he prioritises your light cheap Hammerheads whilst you choose between hitting the ISD or whittling down his activation advantage by going for the Raiders.

*less than it used to be, but still a little bit more

>Well, Rieekan got nerfed variably heavily (there's still some discussion as to whether he goes off at first opportunity or you still get to choose when he get's used)

No, it's pretty cut and dry. Rulebook says all upgrade cards are optional to resolve unless they specifically state otherwise (ex: errata-d Jamming Field)

>Now if you want to use Hammerheads, maybe you should swap out Ackbar for Cracken, toss in the Garel's Honor title on a Hammerhead + Engine Techs and together with it's wingman just ram the fuck out his ISD.

Hammerheads can't take engine techs. Also, Cracken's a poor fit for Hammerheads, since they can't exceed speed 3 and are pretty unmanageable at that speed. They're no CR90.

>If he's using Sloane then you can expect fighters, and those fighters will be ably to pretty heavily ablate your aces defence tokens and are also able to reroll crits when they attack ships. 5 Decimators RLB-d into a Sloane Avenger is a dream come true. You can just fly away from it and bully flotillas and he's spent 200 points that can't do anything.

Regardless, the spicy new Avenger build specifically uses boarding troopers, so no RLBs. Decimators are a tough fit too, because they can't burn ace defense tokens, only ships; and Sloane's strength is bringing 50-60 points of fighters, killing aces silly fast, and then supporting her ships. Like a reverse-Sato.
>>
>>54384183
>5 Decimators RLB-d into a Sloane Avenger is a dream come true. You can just fly away from it and bully flotillas and he's spent 200 points that can't do anything.

Correction: Sloane, 5 Decimators, and an ISD-I with Avenger, Expanded Hangars, and Rapid Launch Bays (and no other upgrades) is a full 260 points. Depending on the other upgrades on Avenger, it can push 300.

Poe has a place over Miranda. She's generally more expensive and does better against aces and arc-locked ships. Poe runs cheaper, black one is great against ordnance/omega leader, and he poops on turreted ships. BB-8 is cute and usually enough to win you a store championship, but R2-D2 is just more consistent.

The Scurrg might genuinely be my favourite miniature to come out for X Wing. How do I build a triple Scurrg list? Here's what I'm looking at right now but I don't know if dropping the Munitions off the second bomber for Autoblaster might be an idiot plan or not.

Lok Revenant
>Deadeye
>Homing Missile
>Extra Munitions
>Havoc
>Fire Control System
>"Genius"
>Guidance Chips

Lok Revenant
>Deadeye
>Cruise Missile
>Boba Fett
>Autoblaster Turret
>Guidance Chips

Lok Revenant
>Deadeye
>Cruise Missile
>4-LOM
>Guidance Chips

100 points exactly. Two of them are pared down a little to make one a powerhouse and to give a few good toolbox tricks across the list.
>>
>>54385542

This ends up looking like it should be a large model to me, rather than small.

For that matter, why is the U-Wing a large, motherfucker's tiny.
>>
>>54385603

It's literally only so you can put Deadeye on it, or use a BR to get out of the range of a Genius'd Bomb.

The flipside of it is that it's now vulnerable to Ion Cannons and Turrets, something the JumpScout never needed to really worry about, and it does NOT have enough green dice not to get chain ion'd either.
If TripleLoks become a thing I can see non-disposable Ion weapons making a splash.
>>
>>54385542
It's a very nice model. I like the list, have you flown it yet?
>>
>>54385675

Nope. Literally took the things out of the plastic half an hour ago.

I think I'll be able to get in a couple of games after work tomorrow with any luck.

Double correction: Decimators have rogue, so no Sloane.

>>54384668
Rieekan with ramming Hammerheads works alright, actually, because he gaurantees they live to get the ram off.

A Garel's Honor can plow full speed into an ISD front arc, throw a faceup at it, and rest assured that even though the ISD is going to do 50 damage to it next turn, it'll still be in the way, block the ISD from moving (another facedown), and then get to activate, pop external racks, and ram the ISD for a second faceup.

Three gauranteed hull damage, two of which is faceup, plus a Hammerhead Concentrate Fire + External Racks double arc. It's not bad at all, shame you can only take Garel's once.

FYI, your link doesn't work for me.

Regardless, that's a LOT of points in Squadrons, with no real way to command them. Sloane fleets tend to run 60-80 points of (very lethal) fighters, I don't want to counter that with 100+. And in that build you haven't even got a way to command them, so no alpha strike potential.

The idea would be to keep it cheap (something around 40-60 points) and fly them defensively inside of flack range.
>>
>>54385603

U-Wing is large so it can be a better blocker - probably. Also take shit like APL etc to be a better blocker.

How is the u wing? I've heard mixed things about it
>>
>>54392818

It's generally poor. But it comes with good cards like Expertise and Inspiring Recruit. It works better in Epic or Team Epic where it can essentially work like a fatter HWK (I had Cassian with IR's work as a wingman for a Raging TFA Chewie for instance) but generally it's not seen as good.

Cruise Missiles might make Bohdi Rook come out to play MAYBE, but I'd be suprised.
>>
>>54392818

The few times I've tried to use it, it just dies real quick whatever I do.

I'm gonna keep trying though, I fucking love that ship.
>>
>>54392818
It's really just a big X-Wing, with all the benefits and drawbacks of one (added benefit/drawback of being a large base ship). It has some neat abilities, like the 0 maneuver and the pivot wing, as well as the aforementioned upgrade cards. Also its system upgrade slot is really neat, especially for FCS.

Problem is it can't tank well, since it's a 4 shield/4 hull ship.

My version posted above was suggested in a previous thread (specifically FCS/Hera/Ezra) and I've done well enough with it.

Bistan is also a near must for Autoblaster Ten Numb

I'm trying to predict where the Rebel meta is going with this current release.
This was my first thought, a MiraNym twin TLT and Bombs build.

https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v4!s!139:135,126,-1,-1,166,237,-1:-1:16:U.127;254:19,135,126,241,-1,-1,127:53:25:U.107,u.180&sn=Unnamed%20Squadron&obs=

Miranda Doni — K-Wing 29
Twin Laser Turret 6
Extra Munitions 2
Sabine Wren 2
Bomblet Generator 3
Cluster Mines 4
Advanced SLAM 2
Ship Total: 48

Captain Nym (Rebel) — Scurrg H-6 Bomber 30
Deadeye 1
Twin Laser Turret 6
Extra Munitions 2
Cruise Missiles 3
Cluster Mines 4
Accuracy Corrector 3
R5-P8 3
Guidance Chips 0
Havoc 0
Ship Total: 52

Two TLTs (one of which being the hateful AC+TLT combo) 4 cluster mines, a Bomblet Dispensor, Sabine and a Dead Eye Cruise Missile combo for Nym, and both at PS8 for ease of maneouvering. Oh, and R5-P8, who has never not been incredibly annoying.

My other thoughts are variants of whatever Paul Heaver is playing with now. Last time I checked that was that 4man Biggs-Rex-StressBraylen-Jess Pava list. Possibly with the Aussie mixed in now, maybe replacing Biggs with Lowrick, since the nerf hammer is circling Biggs like he's a 19 blond girl who's decided to go swimming at night of the Amity coastline.
Sooner or later you are going to need a bigger boat.

>>

>>54346935
Sup /tg, I need advice on Nym.

I'm going to be getting a Scurrrrrrrrg since I need 2 copies of Cruise Missile and a copy of Bomblet Generator, but I figure I might as well find a use for him.

Firstly, I'm not sure I have a sue for him in Scum- ATM all I have for them is 2 Kihraxz, Brobots, and a Firespray, and that seems like it might be difficult to add Nym to.

For Rebels, I am thinking running Corran+Nym or Dash+Nym might work.

What would you do to make a 42 point Nym> a 52-or-less nym?

Is nym even usable at those point levels?

I assume Genius + Bomblet + VI is the way to go, but as a question- can you escape a Genius bomblet with just a barrel roll, or do you need Engine?

>>54397113
Start with Bomblet Generator, and go from there. It depends on which bomb types you want to give him, and what is the rest of you list.

What else do you want to fly alongside him?
>>
>>54397207
I faced a firespray and scurrg last weekend. The firespray didn't get much action since my opponent misjudged things and flew off the map really early.

As for teammates, I was thinking maybe Ryad or Omega Leader. I also just got the interceptor and imperial aces pack so maybe soontir fel?
>>
>>54397207
Barrel roll cannot safely get you out of genius range. Boost can.
>>
>>54397528
Soontir isn't the best option if you have that many bombs-he has 3 hp and needs to arc dodge. Shitting up the field is not something he likes.

The issue is that the punisher is bad-you need some sort of control elements to force people into your bombs. TIE/D vessery maybe, alongside OL.

So I had some thoughts on the EU that I jotted down while high:

The #StarWars abandoned universe was never meant to be read or consumed encyclopedically. It worked much better as a set of distantly related stories with large gaps in between. The events of the movies served as a reference point, and rather than explaining "plotholes" or showing previously referenced material, the movies themselves became reference material. Think of Leia's quote "And don't say the Death Star" in the Force Awakens was one such example. But the EU was magical because eventually it became SELF-referential. It built on itself, but using stories that the reader may not want to read. Bad stories were filtered out, their exciting ideas canon but with no need to read them. You didn't NEED to read Dark Empire to know that Luke had at one point fallen to the Dark Side-the reference to that event itself is tantalizing. Shit happens offscreen ALL THE TIME in Star Wars. Reconstructing the mystery between large time skips oh what happened through bits and pieces of exposition is fun, and TFA didn't have enough of it. A New Hope set out to create a new property, and it was rife with these tantalizing lines. A bad Star Wars book will always be better in the imagination of its reader-and that's what made the EU suceed, and why sites like Wookiepedia are an abomination. NuCanon took this idea to the absolute max.

ALL of the EU was suddenly expunged, or so it seemed. Gradually, bits and pieces of it began to creep back. The old canon wasn't dead-it was shrouded in Legends. And when a figure walks out of a legend, they become beloved by the fanbase-look at our reaction to Grand Admiral Thrawn or any remote hint that the KotOR characters could be referenced. Star Wars has become re-mythologized again.

But I'm really scared for what films like Rogue One or the Han Solo movie do that. Tell exciting stories with the anthology films-don't give us more prequels explaining things we don't need to know.

My friend has proposed a 200pt Epic Game. I have agreed because I recently bought Fenn Rau and then the Scurrg and fitting both in 100pts is a bit tight.
This was what I came up with:

Sol Sixxa — Scurrg H-6 Bomber 28

I was tempted to proxy the new Guns 4 Hire cards and bring in Talonbane, but in the end decided against it.
Nevertheless, Talonbane Cobra's time IS coming, and hell is gonna be riding with him.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm aware that 200pts isn't really /swg/'s baliwick, such as it is. I'm 99% certain he's going to be imperials and he's going to use a TLT Agressor in some capacity. He was asking about my two Defenders last week as well, plus I know he's got a Punisher, but whether he'll use it as a Minefield Mapper in a 200pt game remains to be seen.
>>
>>54400129
FFG fucked up by adding optional mods to basic shit like that, the mods make them too valuable to not take up a hardpoint.
>>
>>54402026
In Epic, jousting is king- think if your list can handle something like 4 juke defenders, apunisher that puts bombs in flank paths, and an ace of some sort for the late game.

Or something along the lines of a massive Crack Swarm.
>>
>>54403387

Well I can discount Quad Defenders because we only have 2. The largest Crack Swarm he could throw at me would be... 4 Crack Blacks, 2 FO equivalents and maybe if he get's desperate a pair of Royal Guard Squints as well. But it's more likely he's going to go Fel and Intensity Carnor with those two.

Flank Path shitting Punisher seems plausible, but I'm not running a single large base ship in this list and I'm roughly confident I can scoot around or generally mitigate this. The Agressor is definitely getting used, most likely with a TLT, I was explaining the benefits of Kestral as a closer with his ability last week, so I might see that. I suspect he'll go for elites over numbers in general so I expect a Decimator build of some kind.
>>
>>54403446
Well, the point of flank-shitting with defenders is that you won't hit the mines, it forces you into a long straight lane where the defenders can 4k forever-mines are just there to keep you from running away into rocks where they can't chase super well.

And with both of you bringing elite lists, you will be fine with your current list. Aces are weaker against massed firepower, and that's what youeffectively see as point levels go up.

I was thinking he would try to go for efficency- taking multiple generics, etc.

In comparison, my Epic list (at 300, but Raider is 140) is 6 Weapons Guidance+Crack Shot Omega Squadron pilots, a support raider built on combining Operations Specialist and Tactician, and Whisper as a late-game cleaner.
>>
>>54394835
This Nym build seems overbuilt. I would run VI over Deadeye as a start.
>>
>>54403517
Well it's not like Miranda needs more points put on her is it?
>>
>>54403500

Last time we tried a 200pt game, the number of moving parts got to him and his brain exploded out the back of his skull in a breathtaking tableau of bone and gore, so that's why I'm pretty sure he's going to try to keep his numbers down.

Then next week, Armada. I'm deeply tempted to get a Raider and Light Cruiser for my Imperials (Core + Fighter Box1 + Gladiator) or should I get something else?

First up, how about you give the base game a shot and see if you actually enjoy the damn thing?

Secondly, there's been a good series of "X-Wing 101" artictles on the FFG website, by assorted pro players and notable community members. Each basically offers a good entry point to the game for 101 dollars, and depending on what you're keen on, one of them is likely to look cool to you.

Split them up and put them in jail with people who are or are pretending to be other imperial prisoners. You have the place bugged and see what happens.
Also, you send them to kill imperials. Maybe put them on a jury rigged ship so it will explode if they don't do it within a certain time

Oh I'm sure I'll enjoy it, have wanted to try for years and I love how it looks. Big fan of turn based tactics and strategy games, and nothing is cooler to me than Star Wars. But yes, that is prudent and practical advice to try it before investing. I'll check out those articles as well. Thanks!

>almost every online retailer has TIE/x1 title only available as a bundle with Advanced Targeting Computer
>average price is $15 per set, meaning it's $60 for a set of four each (four x1 four atc)
>when x1 is offered on its own, it's like $12-$13

How am I supposed to believe 8 upgrade cards is worth 60% of the expansion. The TIE advanced that comes with the Raider, without the x1 titles, is worth $20 by itself, and Palp was going $50 by himself at his height.

I just want to get to fly the TIE Advanced. It's my favorite TIE (outside of gameplay) and I want to use it more effectively. I want to fly a 4x TIE/x1 w/ Accuracy Corrector man

does anyone know where to get it or the Raider expansion cheaper, other than ebay? Thx

I'm in the opposite boat- I want a raider and the TIE pilots that come with it.

If you guys/anyone else want to split a raider, i'd be down for that. Email me at [email protected]

Alternatively, make some custom/proxy cards. My palp is a high-res image of the card sleeved with a mercenary co-pilot card.

If I had some expendable money I would definitely split a raider with you anon. Sometimes being in graduate school sucks ass
>>
>>54410674
Looking at what's in the box-

Palp, Raider, Advanced, 4 copies of Title/ATC

A raider is $75 online, so for the title+ATC, i would think $7 per pair would be fair.

I was going to say that Kylo's TIE silencer looks like the bastard child of an Avenger and a Phantom, but thinking over it again, it's the bastard child of an avenger and the Falcon.

I've been pondering a SWD6 campaign. Not just any SWD6 campaign, but the most mundane Star Wars game ever played.
The plot is simple, you're a resident of Mos Eisley, and your goal is to play the bills on time. That's it. If you're lucky, you'll have enough left over to give your Treadwell the oil bath it so sorely needs.
Some may call this boring, I call it comfy.

>Wednesday. Go into Tosche Station to pick up parts. Get screwed on a deal by a Gran salesman, I just know it. Come back, see a Jawa sprinting away from Vaporator 2. Treadwell says he didn't see anything. Blind asshole.
>Thursday. Fix Vaporator 1, try to figure out what got stolen from Vaporator 2. It was a new set of power couplings. Fuck.
>Friday. Rigged together some replacement couplings for Vaporator 2. Spent the evening getting drunk in Mos Eisley, started talking to a pretty girl. Ackmena threw me out at curfew.
>Saturday. Wake up hungover to the sound of Treadwell bumping into a wall over and over and over. Didn't even get the girl's number.

Jaemus is a planet in the outer rim. In Legends it was one of the largest Pentastar and later Remnant shipyards. It's got facilities for local bulk freighter manufacturers as well as Sienar and Kuat.

In canon it seems to be where Sienar and Kuat build ships away from the eyes of the New Republic so they can sell to the First Order.

3/3/3/3, maybe 3/3/4/3 since this thing is huge- it's around the size of a B-wing.

I so want this thing to be good- The question is "can you run a list comprised of three of these?"
>>
>>54415780

I don't know about 3 shields, but given the scale, I'll eat a sock if it's not 4 Hull like the Striker.

Missile Tech for sure. The action bar is going to be the REAL interesting thing, it says it has missiles, so Focus+Target Lock for sure, that gives it a very complex action bar for those last two slots to really hit that Interceptor archetype. Green Turns.

On the other hand, people want it to Cloak and I think that's a pipe dream AND only fucks up the action bar more.

How much of the Imperial base on Scarif do you think survived the Death Star's blast?
>>
>>54415939
None of it.
>>
>>54415939
I doubt any of it.
>>
>>54415939
Little to none. While the Death Star's attack on Scarif was distant enough to hit the water and not the shore, the attack on Jedha showed that it destroyed a not-insignificant amount of the planet's surface, causing huge chunks weighing thousands if not millions of tons to fly into the air.

Given that the ground around the Scarif base was engulfed by the destructive wave of the blast (the light that enveloped Jyn and Cassian just after they embraced), there should be basically no recoverable intelligence from the tower, and likely most of the base surrounding it was, if not leveled, damaged to the point it would be cheaper to level it and build anew than to repair.
>>
>>54415848
>I don't know about 3 shields, but given the scale, I'll eat a sock if it's not 4 Hull like the Striker.

Inb4 3/3/3/5, being a 3 agility B-wing.

Missile and Tech (and EPT's) are going to be a given, but the question is

- Pilots
- Does it get a System slot or similar? Double tech?
- Title to give it a 5th action, or does it have 5 native to the bar?
- Does it have a title along the lines of TIE/SF that is effectively extra rules text?

My guess is 3/3/4/3, title that gives it a 5th action on it's bar (Focus, Evade, TL, Barrel Roll, Boost) and some sort of extra rules text, missile+tech.

Probably pilots will be Test Pilot(PS 2), Praetorian Guard/Knight of Ren(PS 6, EPT), Rando from the movie (PS 5-7, who gives a fuck) Kylo (PS 9, EPT, New ability)

$20 medium-ship expansion, akin to Starviper and the heavy bombers.

Really, I want them to announce this shit at Gencon, since it got officially announced.
>>
>>54415025
I'm glad you think so, because I have no idea how to run SWD6, considering I've never found a group as a player in the ten or so years I've looked.
>>
>>54416645

I wondering if we might get some shit out of SDCC since FFG's twitter seems to be pushing it pretty regularly.

I think it's too soon for them to push up Kylo to a PS9, even if he's actually really good in the Silencer. There's 3 unique names in each faction which have it right now, that puts some pressure on the other two factions (which nobody will like because HURR DURR SCUM AND REBELS). I expect a one point jump to 7 so he can VI to 9 or maybe a jump to 8 and then with VI he's actually a 10.
>>
>>54416692

>>
>>54416833
The current rumor mill is that he kills Poe in a space battle so I would guess that he's going up to PS 9, saying that his PS is 6 in the shuttle because it's a motherfucking shuttle.

>>54416248
Jedha was a moon though, and likely a lot smaller than Scarif. The base is probably still gone, but much more of the planet would be ok than on Jedha.

>>54417054
God I hope so, Poe is worst character
>>
>>54416692
It wouldn't be impossible to do that with EotE.
>>
>>54416991
You'd probably want to mess with the skill list a little bit to make the game more pod-racer specific, and be really careful with specialties but I think it would be able to. SWD6 might do it better though.

I would say for balance it would lose the evade action but it might have a title like the x7 or the v1 that can grant it an evade token.
It'll probably have a tech slot and maybe a SU slot, like the TIE/sf.
If it has a cloak action it'll have even less shields, like 3 hull/2 shield
>>
>>54415939
>How much of the Imperial base on Scarif do you think survived the Death Star's blast?
Nothing, In fact I'd like to think they named the resulting body of water formed by the crater "the Tarkin Sea".
>>
>>54424023
It's effectively going to have 5 actions availible either way. Either tie one to another (v1) or add it to the bar.

The question is the health spread- 3 attack and 3 agility are given minimums. (If 4 attack I will shit myself)

The issue is that it is fucking enormous- the B-wing is a little smaller than this thing. It is going to be 6 health minimum-the question is how much and what spread.
>>
>>54425479
Looking it up, this thing is over 2.5 inches long, or 6.5 cm. It's going to tower over its base.
>>
>>54425828

K-Wings, ARCs and Havocs indicate this is not a problem.

I'd personally go 4/2 split - Shield still aren't imperative to Imperials, but given it's over-all length and beefier hull it should have more mass. Of course, if it's even better than the TIE/SF it could amaze us with 4/3. Plasma torps are still a thing though, you don't necessarily want the weight in favor of shields.

I'm not blaming the staff of the store; they all seem like nice people who are just doing their job. But acquisitions for Star Wars stuff in general is terrible in this state. We're usually a wave behind in figures and X-Wing unless you go to an independent, smaller hobby store (there's not a whole lot of them that sell X-Wing either) I might just bite and go to the closest one and see if they have it.

Star Wars Destiny boosters are next to impossible to find except at Games by James sometimes.

I'm currently working on an Imperial campaign set aboard an Outer Rim space station. The PCs would be the station's commanding officers, tasked with managing different departments (security, engineering, logistics, etc.)

With that in mind, what should the party's starting assets be in terms of personnel, ships, etc.? I've settled on an XQ platform (pic related) as the basis for the station, but I can't find any crew totals or the like.

-Juke, comms
>pure sabacc
-lwf, ailerons, VI
>Alpha sq. Interceptor

Here are my suggestions-

For the First list, you want to swap Hux for Intel Agent, Pattern Analyzer, and the Title- Hux eats action efficiency that you do not have on your already action-starved shuttle, and his condition is best on TIEs that have shit attack- Deltas and Swarm Leader Kylo are not those things.

For the Swarm Leader Whisper, that's a death sentence- PS 7, 8, and 9 is everywhere. Miranda can kill you in 2 rounds with her TLT.
Something like 2 Deltas and a VI+Rebel Captive whisper would work though

I don't understand the Kallus and the Tactician on Tomax- either keep him cheap, or go full missile. Also, Alphas are bad- Try a Striker if you want the aggressive blocker.

It'd probably be mostly the guys who captain smaller ships, like the Gozanti class and similar. A few of the ISD captains might have, but overall it's probably a pretty small percentage going pirate and very few if any going straight mercenary.
