What do you guys like to use as a program for running games online? Roll20 seems like the most popular medium but I've also learned about MapTool recently and it seems like it has a really nice set of features without having to put in any money.
How do you feel about the two of those, or are there other options that I'm not aware of?
I prefer playing in person but for the group I want to run that is not possible
Maptools is a wonderful system. Unfortunately it is shackled to the dumpster fire that is java.

My DM wants to start running games online so we don't have too much downtime but he's horrible with computers. I've met elderly people with more of an grasp than him.
Which would be the best option for him?

Roll20.
It is so simple that only the gm has to put any real work in. By real work, I mean build maps if you cant find good ones to steal or buy.

Do you know if there is any way to pipe in music through maptool to play in the background for your players? I really like the atmosphere it can add and it's the only feature that roll20 has over it
