Alright /tg/, me and a few of my friends have been wanting to play a tabletop game inspired by the settings and lore from MtG for quite a while now. The only problem, however, is that I have no idea what system I should use. I know that WotC made some 5e supplements recently, but not a single person I know likes 5e. Can anyone here help a nigga out and recommend me something that would be viable for this?

someone tried to make a game run using M;tG mechanics as an RPG. it's not finished or fully worked out, but it may help you.

The best thing you can do is find a fairly ruleslight system that can handle a bunch of chucklefucks fucking around and run with it. No rules-heavy system will work well with it.
And for the love of all that is holy, do not involve cards or decks into the RP. Have characters cast spells based on various cards sure, but there should not be cards involved (physical or digital) or randomized spell selection or shit like that. It works for a card game and does NOT for an RPG.

Mutants and Masterminds and restrict available effects by colour.

My friends and I enjoyed a long running game set in Ravnica (this was when the original set was still standard) using Pathfinder. It worked fine for us.

I almost feel like Ravnica Guild stuff done with Ars Magica could work well.

Use FATE. Most things in MTG are already on a scale of one to eight.

Dungeons and Dragons 5e.

Must be some pretty shitty 3aboos, then. 5e is actually quite good.
The solution is to find better friends, anon.
