The Catholic Church.

This time period was around the time when there power in Europe started to decline due to the rise of the Protestant's and the translation of the bible into different languages as well as the attempts to gain footholds in Japan and the Americas.

Pikes, the beginnings of modernism, printing presses, religious reformation and resulting huge wars, brightly coloured outfits, neoplatonism, cannons, holy roman empire, hapsburgs, mercenaries, bishops, musketeers, 3d perspective in art, weird medical theories. I probably missed some stuff, but that's a bunch of it.

Filth, noise, dogs, horses and children everywhere.

When I think of renaissance Europe I think of polyphonic vocal music:

Since the 14th century (late middle ages) the wealthy and powerful in the Italian City states have been patronizing artists and scholars willing to explore the old Roman and Greek societies of their forefathers. As a cultural movement the Renaissance already encompasses most of the region and has had a profound impact on literature, art, philosophy and music. Humanist scholars are also analyzing the society in which they live, comparing it to the ideals of the Classical philosophers. Renaissance Humanism has grown into a more mature movement, ready to permeate all aspects of society. A new ideal for rulers as well as those who are ruled is spreading as quickly as the early Printers can distribute copies of these new ideas. A true Renaissance Humanist is an expert on everything from Politics and Philosophy to art, textual analyzis, music and architecture. The Renaissance is now ready to reshape the world to better fit its classical ideals.

Printing Press. Without it, many of the revolutions technological and cultural wouldn't have been possible.

The Fall of Constantinople.

Spain is born and instantly becomes a superpower with its conquistadors conquering the Americas, and the Holy Roman Empire. Their Tercios dominates all opposition. The 16th century is called Siglo de Oro (Golden Century).

Rising of the large cities, their conflict with feudals.
Religion conflicts
>>
Y'all haven't even mentioned playwrights and acting troupes yet. Shakespeare is ashamed.
>>
Just follow the fantasy tropes. Most so-called "medieval" fantasy settings are actually renaissance but without guns. Big cities, large armies, powerful kings, are things of the renaissance. I swear, I have never seen a feudal system in a "medieval fantasy" setting.

NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION.

Sudden scientific discoveries changing fucking everything

start with the most famous parts of the renaissance
art, science, literature, architecture

The rise of the Ottomans, controlling the entrance of goods from Asia, triggers Castilla to seek a new trade route to India and instead discovers America.
>>
>>54294518
Gettim Americans far away from it, so they won't fuck up some ren-fair bullshit out of it.
>>
>>54294518
Wars of religion of all kinds absolutely dominated the Renaissance.
>>
>>54296918
I always thought the renaissance/early modern period was the real dark age.
>>
>>54297178
XXth century was the real Dark Age. It's absolutely clear when you think about it for a second.
>>
>>54294695
There had always been translations of the Bible.

It was the printing press that was the problem. Church used to make quite a lot of cash from writing and transcribing books.

The rise of the bourgeoisie: Rich merchant dinasties gaining more and more power and influence on politics, the economy, science and art

Reformation and religious conflicts as already mentioned - but not to forget Counterreformation foreshadowing the baroque period; indicated by the rising religiosity of the common folk and nobles as well as an extremely wealthy church, that founds new monasteries and brotherhoods, whose members are extraodinary intellectual, influential, pius and devoted to the church

Huge advances in science and arts, humanism and the literal "renaissance" - the rebirth of ideas of ancient greeks and romans. Humanism, rationalism and the concept of aesthetics and beauty play a large role

Look up the german religious conflicts, like the thirty years war and the history Italy of Netherlands, expecially that of Florence, for the florishing of art, the bourgeoisie, science and culture
