1st Stage:
Just being happy to roll dice and control a character.

2nd Stage:
Determining some sort of meaning/pursuit/goal to justify continuing to play the game.

3rd Stage:
???
>>
Despair and death.
>>
Determining some sort of meaning/pursuit/goal to justify your own life.
>>
large quantities of alcohol in an attempt to recapture stages 1 and 2

The fact you need stage two and can't just continue to have fun rolling dice is the real problem
>>

Checked

3 : Find people interesting enough to keep playing with
>>
3rd stage: Design the worlds, characters, and learn the joy of creation

4th stage: In an effort to make worlds and games pop out, pursue higher scholarly interests to create an interesting world

5th stage: Realize that a game's rules control a game's narratives. Begin to research game theory as well to help supplement a world to your ideal creation

6th stage: Grow slightly frustrated as you begin to rapidly cycle through games. The second one loses your interest because of how it affects your narrative, move onto the next one.

7th Stage: Attempt homebrew. Struggle to find players who are interested in playing in it long term.

8th Stage: Find no such players. Abandon homebrew.

9th Stage: Realize there is nothing that fits games the way you want, and nobody is interested in what you have to offer.

Final Stage: Abandon the hobby.
>>
There is a reason why most people stop playing with toys when they're children, OP.

You've finally grown up.

>It is unacceptable for adults to have hobbies that are fun
>Only sitting on the couch watching the tv; drinking alcohol; or discussing sports are acceptable
>Those who continue to enjoy life must not be spoken to, for they remind us what we gave up on for the sake of stupid pride

Learn to settle for imperfection, Anon. That's how we survive. The wise know to settle for imperfection, while always still pursuing perfection.

I mean, once you've got one of those, you're basically golden.
