What setting surprised you the most once you experienced it without censorship? What was it in particular that surprised you? What did you do about / with it?
>>
Is there a list of food and drink type items in jumpchain ?
>>
>>54260661
Well here's the issue with canon Magnus.

He's dead. His soul is gone. Poof. He's a Daemon Primarch now, not merely a traitor one, and the thing about Daemon Primarchs is that they're effectively Daemons wearing the former Primarch's skin. Everything that was Magnus is gone.

What are some jumps where you can get a gun?
>>
>>54260700
Pokemon Trainer... for some reason.
>>
>>54260716
I was about to suggest that it's a reference to that one anime episode, but then I remembered that the jump is for the games only.
>>
>>54260677
Should I, uh, not go Daemon Prince in BC, then?
>>
>>54260741
I thought the jump described it as a hybrid of the games and anime?

Either that or the gun is a holdover from when it was a standalone CYOA.
>>
>>54260741
The jump is actually a fusion of the anime and games, because the games themselves would function like the 'real' pokemon world and not a videogame reality.

>>54260746
Red's said that you're ensured to remain yourself and retain continuity and blah blah
>>
>>54260677
I don't think that means as much as you think it does. Pretty sure he's still more or less the same person, just enslaved to Tzeentch. And obviously somewhat changed by hanging around in the Warp for ten millennia.

Invader Zim. Hormones hit everyone kind of hard and things got weird. Especially since I convinced Tak to give up her insane vendetta and just settle down on Earth. Also the Horrorverse tried to invade almost every Halloween and that was way bloodier than I ever expected it to be. Mostly I rolled with it. Didn't have the power to make sweeping changes at the time. So we stayed inside on Halloween and installed extra locks on Zim's door.
>>
Can someone tell me some ways to get power with The Power is Jumpers? I have no idea where to even start.
>>
>>54260773
I don't think sulky the sulker is very much like the Magnus described in the HH novels anymore.
>>
>>54260851
What exactly do you mean? You'll still need a way to get it yourself, it just enhances any attempts. God of Highschool and the new Solars jump (Zenith and Eclipse) have some good perks for sweetening deals, for example, and Ghost Rider has something to actually transfer power.
>>
How would one go about removing someones ability to use magic? Like completely removing it so they're no longer a threat (using magic anyway).
>>
>>54260914
Negotiate some Surrender Oaths with the 400 CP Eclipse perk from Solars. Cast a miniature anti-magic field centered around the target with D&D magic, and keep it permanently sustained with a method of your choice (Infinity from SDS is probably the easiest).
>>
>>54260914
Sever Force from Clone Wars. There are a surprising amount of magic systems that rely on outside forces or entities.
>>
>>54260888
I think he means some people/gods to scam.

I watch the sun set for the last time over what remains of Ura lands in the distance. The quiet hum of Burstone capacitors is the only sound around me; all else is silent. The tears have long since dried from my face.

Then, slowly, my vision fades to black.

"Well...that didn't go too well, did it, anon?" I give no response, still staring vacantly. "But hey, you got some sweet toys, didn't you? Ehh? Eh?" He pulls the lone remaining Core from his hammer dimension and wobbles it in front of me for a few moments. Some distant part of my mind notes that Jump-chan can take things from my warehouse.

"Hm. Well, maybe not a video game setting for the next one, then. Cheer up, kiddo! I'm sure you'll do fine next time." He puts the Core away (hopefully back where it belongs), rustles my hair a little, and steps away. A familiar ring of images appears, and after a few moments, begins to spin, becoming a blur of light. After about a minute of silence, I reach out to touch it, and vanish.

DND Spells are surprisingly really good for utility, like warming up the uterus for a few hours to mitigate period pains, which was a cantrip in DND.. I used the same cantrip to open up pores to deal with razor burns.

I also learned a similar trick using Nasuverse Magus Circuits (While they are technically part of the soul, using them increases the body temperature and Kiritsugu heat tracked maguses according to the wiki page).

As for sex shit, uhhh. You do not want to see muppets fucking. You really don't. Also there were vigors for sex (being branded as fertility vigors of course in Columbia).

So which Domain sounds better Observation or Clairvoyance? Trying to figure it out in Marvel Magic since my jumper has a bit of a theme of getting all the precog and see all know all perks.

Observation. Honestly, it depends what you need it for. I'd imagine Observation would allow you to do things like see the invisible and perceive forces, while Clairvoyance would probably just be a really big boost to its namesake. If you have good clairvoyance already, it's probably not as good an investment.

Why do that when there are a bunch of straight up immaculate biology perks scattered around that make it so you never have to worry about biological functions ever again? Why not go full cybernetic/transhuman/superior life form? Why even allow that to continue happening and be forced to deal with it all the time when you could just as easily solve it forever?
>>
>>54261150
I tried to make a Gauntlet of it (I never officially claimed it because I was't sure how far this would go) but I couldn't think of enough drawbacks or a good enough reward to go through with it, so I abandoned it.

I'm not gonna claim it, though. I have too many other projects at this moment.

>>54261188
Because this was early in the chain.
>>
>>54261188
Probably because not everyone here is middle or late chain. It's not like people just go to Jumps for specific perks early on and then stick with that chain forever (at least not everyone). Some people start up new chains, do stuff early on because they like an IP and will inevitably face some problems that they have to figure out solutions too before they hit Jumps later that would have made those problems go away a lot easier.
>>
>>54261219
That doesn't really change anything I'm saying though, since you obviously when to DnD at some point, and you definitely had the opportunity to ascend to a more convenient biology at that point.

Archanea is slowly plodding along but it's getting there. I have two scenarios lined up for it. The Archanea series just doesn't really interest me as the other games because its really lacking in plot and interesting characters, even if it was the very first setting of the game

Princess: The Hopeful...has unfortunately screeched to a halt. I'm just not creative enough for the massive amounts of perks needed for customization outside of shit princesses can already do, and there's the fact that I have to give the dark magical girls two perk trees to compensate that they don't get normal powers. But no one else is willing to take it off my hands as far as I know, so I'm not gonna give up on it just yet.

Other projects are in varying states of completion, Captain Underpants is the only jump I haven't started on yet because I want to finish Archanea before working on it.

>>54261261
Because I became a gnome, that's why. Gnomes are the coolest DnD race.
>>
>>54261299
Not that guy, but you could become a dragon and shape shift to human form. Don't even necessarily have to buy into being a dragon outright, I remember there being a way to become a dragon that involved a huge ritual.

>>
>>54261340
The Stone Mask sucks and you know it.
>>
>>54261324
Why? After a couple jumps you're already more like a ridiculous parody of humanity then you are an actual normal person, gaining the ability to control your form in such a way that you don't have to worry about how shitty and disgusting your biology is doesn't make you any less a human being; it can't, since you already abandoned your humanity when took the offer to go on an adventure across the multiverse for the viewing pleasure of a being beyond all comprehension.
>>
>>54261340
There's tons of fantastical races out there and the Benefactor wanted a mundane human from our world. Sounds an awful lot like the one's who would trade out at the first chance are least likely to be picked.

Not sure what I'm expecting from this thread at fucking midnight, but here I go

I've been slowly trying to chip away at 40k's lore, but I haven't found anything regarding that Light of Terra thing that has like 200 pages or whatever. Can someone explain what the hell's up with that?

I can only find passing mentions of the name when I google it, and with minimal context clues to work with.
>>
>>54261405
Two jumps shouldn't have *that* dramatic an impact, anon.
>>
>>54261558
It's apparently a scenario from one of the books mixed with shit from other random books.
>>
>>54261558
Its someone's OC adventure based on 40K.
>>
>>54261558
It's a fuckhueg ship that you can run a campaign in. Lost at some point during the great crusade, probably.

What matters is that it's a Gloriana-Class battleship with a load of hostile fuckers with sharp objects (and firearms) in it
>>
>>54261558
It's just a basic spacehulk story with a few of the more eccentric 40k fields attached (orc races and such).
>>
>>54261570
Pokemon trainer and Pokemon Dungeon. Two jumps, already a parody of a human being in any context.

Jumpers!

How do you handle meta-knowledge, and do you take it into account when writing? After just a few jumps, I imagine most of us will have forgotten a great deal without a perfect memory perk. Do you visit modern-day earth jumps to refresh your memory, use perks to cheat, gather info with supernatural powers, or do you enjoy working in the unknown?
>>
>>54261606
Damn that jump, I want a gloriana class ship but it is so broken.
Deadlight grumble grumble REEEEE.
>>
>>54261636
>Is this shitposting or autism?
Yes.
>>
>>54261648
I like hazy meta knowledge in the hands of my Jumper since it means they can plan and account for some crazy shit that might never have come up before, but miss other completely obvious things because they forget them while getting lost in the meta plans. It's a very different kind of success/fucking up.
>>
>>54261611
What do you think parody means, exactly? Because I'm not seeing how being able to turn into a pokemon and back makes you "an imitation that falls far short of [a real human]", which is my closest guess to the definition you were shooting for.

>>54261648
My jumper picked up a precog ability for plot-relevant events, right around the time he was starting to forget the media he'd once been familiar with.
>>
>>54261658
Same. The ship is cool but I have intention of loosing everything and breaking the Deadlight is a trap.

Hopefully someone makes a Rogue Trader jump that has a Gloriana as a scenario reward or someone makes a Great Crusade Jump and offers one as an item.
>>
Different anon, also with Light of Terra scenario questions.

Specifically, one of the Necron upgrades is an Eternity Gate that doesn't need an exit gate -- so you can deploy troops anywhere. Question is, can this be used to pick dudes back up?

I'm assuming it can't be used to telefrag random dudes, but something like a Startrek transporter's ability to beam the away crew back.

>Is this modded Eternity Gate a functional Star Trek teleporter or do I need to pick up dudes the old fashioned way?
>>
Its going to be weird jumping KOTOR after jumping the Bane triology.
>>
>>54261648
Meta knowledge is surprisingly less helpful then you would initially think. Aside from the basics about characters, powers, and the setting, knowledge of the plot becomes almost useless once you end up changing enough. I use my meta knowledge as a sort of basic guide, but I don't rely on it.
>>
>>54261687
I think you need to pick them up the old fashioned way.
>>
>>54261658
>>54261685
Didn't the author say that if you don't break the deadlight, your chosen faction just treats you like an escort mission and they'll win barring you going out of your way to fuck it up?

>>54261648
I refresh my memory by going to a modern day earth setting and doing a boatload of research of the settings I want to go to before I dive back in. It's like a small breather before I jump back in.

Of course, sometimes the fiction in those worlds are different from what happens, but eh.
>>
>>54261432

Do you subscribe to the theory that jumpchan is your daughter and trying to create a stable time loop to ensure her existence?
>>
>>54261658
>I want a gloriana class ship
Why? You could always just grab a Gloriana class elsewhere and use the Lost Odyssey item to give it fiat protection
>>
Can someone please repost the New jumps that were posted between the fifth and today?
>>
>>54261745
Light of Terra doesn't have fiat protection anyway. If it gets destroyed, it's gone for good.
>>
What would you do if you were given unlimited choice points?
Would you take all the perks every jump or build to a theme?
What about drawbacks would you take them just for the challenge?
>>
>>54261711
It's weird the other way around as well. Bane was inspired by Revan, so if you were a Sith Lord in KOTOR you might have been an inspiration to him or the other members of the Brotherhood as well.
>>
>>54261720
I don't think so, I mean if you take the space marine or necron companion then maybe they could carry you but it is still an incredibly dangerous space hulk. With no powers you would have a rather low survival rate even the companion did everything.
>>
>>54261763
I could have sworn it had fiat restoration at the start of Jumps.
>>
So I just picked up the ability to create Raydrics from Ragnarok Online, Raydrics essentially being possessed suits of armor.

Where would you advise I go to better capitalize on this if I wanted to create armies of possessed armors?
>>
>>54261775
I wouldn't take ALL the perks, some have significant inherent downsides and others just don't appeal to me. If I had unlimited CP I would probably take all the perks that I didn't find distasteful though.
>>
>>54261745
>>54261763
Could you guys grow some balls and stop caring about fiat as much as SB?
>>
>>54261775
Stick to a theme. I mean, I'd probably grab all the convenience perks and items, plus all the various 'Unlimited supply of X food stuff' items, but for the most part I'd stick to a main theme and focus on that.

As for drawbacks? I'd take the ones that would make the story more fun and interesting, while ignoring the less interesting ones.
>>
>>54261720
Yep. Babylon went out of his way to make rulings to fuck over or just mess with everyone who took that jump. He also ruled that anyone who broke the Deadlight would fail full stop, success is impossible.
>>
>>54261024
That fucker. Sending me to the Dune universe to "cheer me up".
>>
>>54261775
Well there are a lot of perks that I would not want to take. As for a theme I don't think I could keep it up. I would take some drawbacks though, they tend to interest me even when they really shouldn't.
>>
>>54261794
Maybe something like Classic Sonic or Shadow Realm, in order to mass produce the physical armors?

Could also try Tales of Symphonia, in order to put actual people in the armor, if you find loyal enough minions.

Alternatively, try Earth's Mightiest Heroes or Marvel Magic in order to have better stuff to make possessed armor from.
>>
>>54261838
I'm sure the spice could help cheer you up.
>>
>>54261775
There isn't a single jump that I need more than 1000 CP in so there's no difference.
>>
>>54261775
If I were actually given unlimited CP? Of course I'd take all the perks (that I didn't find disgusting). I mean, anything else would either be stupidity or foolishness.
>>
What are the best underestimation perks in the chain?
>>
>>54261775
I'd probably cap myself out anyways. Limitation breeds creativity and shows you your priorities. Unlimited points would distract from nuance in favor of toys and power too quickly. It's a lot harder to keep track of things. Spacebattle's creative mode could not be more poorly named.
>>
>>54261925
I assume it's named after the same mode in Minecraft. You're not wrong, though
>>
Do Shinigamis in Bleach just pick and choose what age they want? Considering the ages of some of them are just so inconsistent.
>>
>>54261991
Yes. Check the jump again, as a Shinigami you can choose to be any age between 100 and 1000 years old.
>>
>>54261794
What >>54261859 said, and also? Any jump you learn blacksmithing - I'm doing the same thing you're doing, and the best way to start making more and better Raydrics is to improve your own blacksmithing, that way you can ensure the mass-produced armors are better.

Also, Maoyuu Hero and Demon King. Part of your mass-production system will be to create some machines that cast that spell so that your suits of armor actually become Raydrics. After that it's finding a jump that gives you a decent power-source for those machines, because far as I can tell from some research JESUS CHRIST THERE IS SO LITTLE INFO IN EXISTENCE Raydrics run on their own after spawning.
>>
>>54262023
Sorry, I should have worded that better. I meant do they age at all after that considering some barely look any different or others look entirely different after a short time.
>>
>>54262056
They age, yes. At what rate they age, though, that's much harder to tell. We do see flashbacks of characters in their younger days, but as you said it's not consistent how much they age. It may be related to power growth, seeing as Hitsugaya took an adult form when he mastered his Bankai.
>>
>>54261775
I'd pick up a lot of them and lock most of it behind a toggle, training up a select few. I'm not going to pass shit up for no reason like an idiot, but having a lot of shit in your tool-box is always useful. Of course, there are a lot of perks that I dislike on principle, so I wouldn't exactly take everything.
>>
>>54261775
I wouldn't take skill perks nor perks I find morally repugnant, or some of the ones that alter my personality or nature. Other than that, I'd take them all, sure.
>>
Describe to me some of your summons, Jumpers. Shit like the Chest Full Of Monsters from LoZ: Minish Cap, or your summon spells from Overlord, or your Eidolon from FFXIII. Summon scrolls from Naruto count too, or your personal demons made in SMT or Soul Hackers.

Where my summoners at.
>>
>>54261775
All of them, yes. Or most of them. Even if I don't personally desire most of them, I'm sure they'd be appreciated by my comrades, subordinates, or subjects.
>>
>>54261925
>Unlimited points would distract from nuance in favor of toys and power too quickly. It's a lot harder to keep track of things.
There are perks for that. And if you think you'd be more creative without a creativity perk than with, you're wanking yourself so hard that you might as well have one anyway.
>>
>>54261775
I think what I would do most of the time is choose Drop-In and buy as if I was a different background instead. I only tolerate memories during the first few jumps. This seriously limits me in some jumps, but I'd rather take a non-optimal build than make a choice that doesn't make sense for me just because I'll be able to buy twice as much.

I would also use the extra cp when I'm literally 50 cp short and already at the drawback limit, which is something that has forced me to rethink builds.

Is there a 'physical' alternative to Twilight Imperium? (As in a perk that protects from physical attacks, not an item like Spellbreaker)
>>
>>54262158
Right now all I've got are Atronachs, courtesy of Morroblivion. They're okay for what they do, and knowing how to bind them permanently is good for guarding places. At least I vaguely remember the Conjurer perk doing that.
>>
>>54262260
>There are perks for that. And if you think you'd be more creative without a creativity perk than with, you're wanking yourself so hard that you might as well have one anyway.
I think he means distracting here, in the real world, where you wouldn't have the benefit of those perks. If you were living it, sure, you could just take them. But as a CYOA, feature creep is a problem because you're stuck with your current mind's ability to keep track of and consider all the options available to you.
>>
>>54262281
Yes, it's called "being durable". We have lots of durability-enhancing perks, anon.
>>
>>54262281
Primordial Might from SMT, boosted by Dormant Power, potentially makes you immune to physical attacks, among other things.

Not quite the same, but Zombie from SDS or the Third Magic ritual from Nasuverse mean that no one would be able to kill you with just physical attacks.
>>
So I'm thinking about using the Under con wonder from Infinicon to get an item from a setting that doesn't have a jump. Does anyone have recommendations?
>>
>>54262386

Probably a weapon, armor, or some kind of power source.
>>
>>54262386
Firstly, eww,. Secondly, I'd suggest a mecha. Not something ridiculously OP, everyone's going to just go "hurr durr, I have Elder God Demonbane now". Get something just nice and cool, in the super robot style. Get Genesic Gaogaigar. Get Shin Getter Robo. Get Mazinkaiser. Something awesome.
>>
>>54262260
. . .Dude. . .alright, I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and treat you like you're being serious with me right now. I'm not talking about my Jumper, I'm talking about me, the person sitting behind the computer. You know, the person figuring out what the Jumper is doing? The one who doesn't have perks?

It's easier to keep track of less things compared to more things, and you think of more ways to use what you have when you don't have a specific tool for every problem.

Creativity perks are one of the stupidest things in Jumpchain. I understand a certain level of explaining away Jumper's actions as "they know what they're doing" or "too complex to get into details" with intelligence perks, but creativity lies wholely with the writer/person behind the Jumper. They functionally don't do anything as you have no way to represent the increased creativity inside your chain.

I always assumed that creativity Perks represented the speed at which you came up with new ideas and concepts. So, if you're writing about something you've done in a Jump, it might take you a few days IRL to figure out something that defeats a problem, that's consistent and makes sense, but the actual Jumper-you came up with it seconds after encountering said problem.

They're not by the standards of "pick anything from any work of fiction, you have it now". I recognize that those are the strongest mecha in their respective settings, but there are much stronger things out there.

Y'know what, I'm going with Harry Potter.

I'm not talking about the fact that magical Rohypnol is legal and prevalent enough for a couple of young entrepreneurs to mass produce. I'm not even talking about what you can get up to with the Polyjuice Potion and enough alcohol, or some of the uses for charms that can /engorge and shrink/ objects continuously.

It's the backwardness. Turns out a society that's been pretty much post-scarcity since the Dark Ages tends to stagnate a little! All the obvious weird stuff's just froth on that hotbed of taboos and cultural norms. Say what you like about muggle Britain, but they'd give you weird looks if you said your school has a House most known for blue blood superiority.

It. Never. Helps.

Maybe it's just because of my gimmick of worlds trying to actively murder me. Maybe it's the effect of butterfly farts from across the planet. Maybe I'm just bloody incompetent. But aside from being a brief guide on who's who and what MIGHT happen or what is LIKELY to happen, you'll find things tend to go off-script pretty quick.

Also, trying to talk to people like you're reading off of cliff notes or stage directions (which is likely if you're trying to use said knowledge before getting any kind of charisma or social tact) is a good way to freak them out. Turns out people don't like it when a stranger magically knows what's going to happen to them and then chose NOW to act. Speaking from experience on this.

But I'm also the sort of person who leaves destroyed moons and blew up at least two worlds for different reasons. So, results may vary. Meta-knowledge is a good 'tour guide', but no more than that.

We right here, dog.

When I just need something smote, my first resort is angels. Paradiso, the Aether, the Nephilim from GoH and some distant relations from SMT-the exact type scales with what I'm dealing with, but at the end of the day the result generally involves holy lasers and flaming swords. Sometimes in battle, I'll just create massive amounts of magical materials like Adamant or Moonsilver, and then use my Herald powers to create swarms of angels from those. Demons are a close second though-the Bels make for a great assault squad, and Infernals are good maids if your stuff is fireproof.

I use other summons for more specific tasks. Great Ones and Horrorterrors to build dream dimensions, Manes to sysadmin my more esoteric tech, fully restored Fal'cie fragments from FF13-3 for terraforming and tamed Fae for covert ops. Otherwise, my referred FF summons are usually some version of Bahamut (because he often some trick the others usually lack) or Shiva (because ice magic isn't usually my thing). Oh, and the spirits of Bartimaeus are great at all kinds of matter manipulation-related jobs. The trick is creating a suitably comfy flesh body they can habit more or less indefinitely.

One of my favorite uses I've found for the True Magics/HSDW mashup is to create a pseudo-Greater Grail, enchant the thing with some of my own Adamant Circle spells then combine the spirit summoning technique from S&S with DeSu and Soul Hackers' demoning summoning programs to incarnate hundreds of spirits for different aspects of reality as pseudo-Servants with panoply Charms. If we're counting summoning objects too, I use it as a force multiplier for the Gate of Babylon when launching weapons.

Oh, and-I occasionally dial up some of my Daedric Prince employers for old times' sake, or the Yozis for commissions. Summoning is a lot like networking-it's more about who you know, than what you know sometimes.

When I need Goons or Fodder, I use Summon Assassin (Dishonored) to conjure up people that have been inducted into my Personality Cult. They're all in Infested (Warframe), Infected (Resident Evil), trained in obscure and personalized forms of Martial Arts (Smash Brothers), wielding exotic and arcane gadgets and trinkets (too many Jumps to count) and led by members of my Yummy Corps (Kamen Rider Neo-Heisei Part 1).

It'd also be remiss of me not to mention my loyal Dream Eaters and Nightmares (Kingdom Hearts). They are a loyal bunch, and I often leave them in charge of guarding the minds of people I find particularly vulnerable in that department.

Near the top of the scale are my Protector Angels (Innistrad). Each one is crafted AFTER I create their Heavenly Tool (Bayonetta), and given a Personality that PERFECTLY matches and syncs up with the Tool in question. They are charged with ministering and seeing to the needs and protection of my Personality Cult.

I'm pretty certain I have others, but I actually haven't thought about my summons too much. I usually prefer to rely on Companions when I need something done that I can't/don't want to do myself, but sometimes Goons and Fodder can prove useful and I assure you that that is a name I use affectionately. I deeply care for everyone that comes under my care, especially because many of the people that join my Cult come to genuinely espouse it's and beliefs, which generally match up with my own.

Popular Japanese media are forming into alternate realities, and some of their characters are being pulled into our world. When this happens, it fucks with reality because our world has to rationalize everything from out-of-setting. Main villain wants to destroy the world by overloading it.

The first quarter of the show is spent wondering who the villain is, and the second quarter is about the protagonist angsting and not telling anyone who the villain is.

A bunch of fictional characters pop into existence in the real world, and have to deal with the existential dread of knowing that everything about them was scripted by ordinary human beings who at best were trying to make a piece of entertainment and at worst were just pumping out mass-market schlock. It's pretty interesting, seeing how all the characters respond to it. It amounts to a weird metacommentary on what the fiction we create says about us, and how the characters and setting relate to the author's opinions on their own work. It's cool stuff. I can see it having some interesting interactions with the Jumpchain concept.

Not quite. Spoiler time: The villain is actually an OC Donut Steele created by the protagonist's dead childhood friend. Said OC somehow came to life and wants to collapse fiction and reality into each other, destroying everything from the resulting new world being too self-contradictory and unstable to exist, in order to get revenge on the world for her creator's suicide. She in large part blames the protagonist for said suicide, because his jealousy of her creator's artistic talent led him to avoid her, and this was likely the last straw in a series of depression-building events that he was mostly unaware of. Mostly, he knew she was getting harassed online but didn't realize how bad it had gotten. None of this explains how Altair ever actually got out of her work of fiction in the first place, though.
>>
>>54262938

Having begun to read PotPC because of the Jump I can say that, at least in the original series, no they don't take on those kinds of folks. They go after the stupid Mary Sue's who are badly written into the fanfiction but I've yet to see a Planning Sue on the screen.

Ha! Now I really wanna see them run into Ainz Ooal Gown.
>>

Not even that, lots of the Agents are an example of a form of Sue and they are all the center of their own stories, which are about stories, so that isn't the quantifier either. I have this itch, kids.
this need...
this need for speed.
I don't wanna be no flash, but I need vehicles or perks to make stuff that will let me go fast. Jets, spaceships, cars, whatever. As fast as physically possible. Faster than physically possible.

Which would be hilarious, because if you squint you can sorta say the Exalted are the in-universe PPC: Overpowered mary sues designed to kick around other overpowered mary sues.

And because 2e's developers were autistic about paranoia combo effects, I give it a few months tops before the PPC becomes compromised as Solar/Yozi slaves.

Huh.

>Eragon

...does he even count as one, really? In hindsight, he's had a pretty shitty life. He bounces around from place to place, his friends dying, betraying or friendzoning him, always being one step behind other people because he has just too little information to set the pace. Every other book, someone tells him all his beliefs are invalid, and his cousin does much more on his own initiative with much less. In the end, he rides his dragon into the sunset, beyond his homeland instead of having his cake and eating it. The only thing that really comes to mind is how he beat Galby.

Not defending the Inheritance Quadrilogy, but I think there's a case to be made the elves were just a very bad influence on him.

I would, too, if I had their job. Power alone won't save your sanity from that.

Rumor has it that the jump itself explicitly states the power has no limits.
>>

Oh. This I did not know. But still,
>Increase speed and momentum with no upper limit, reflexes scaling to match

>>
>>54263462
It has his name next to "The Inheritance Cycle", so it's definitely him. Which is bullshit, because he gets told by elves a lot and the elves never get told.

>>54263472
This is really starting to remind me of SCP. At least SCP has the decency to stick to their own homebrew setting for serious stories about their characters beating other characters.
>>
>>54263476
That...actually seems pretty broken. Isn't infinite speed with scaling reflexes a little more powerful then the other powers in Worm?
>>
>>5426339
Rumour has it that SBers aren't actually people, and you shouldn't treat their wanking seriously m
>>
>>54263439
To be fair, he does less panicking as time goes on.
Also, his plans (and the way the denizens of Nazarick carry them out) do tend to turn out more like Xanatos Gambits.
>>
>>54263489
It depends. Foil's power harnesses infinite energy to manifest weapons in infinite realities, and is pretty much unstoppable. There's some serious power there, but it's limited by their wielders usually being peak-human, at best in terms of stats (the non-bricks, of course).
>>
>>54263523
Okay, that's one power. Now what about the dozens of others on offer in the jump?
>>
>>54263523
>It depends. Foil's power harnesses infinite energy to manifest weapons in infinite realities, and is pretty much unstoppable.
No it doesn't. The infinite energy part, at least. Entities explicitly don't have that tech, that's the whole point of their big dumb cycle. It might be striking in every dimension at once, but there must be some trick to allow it to do so without requiring infinite energy. Which is actually more impressive, when you think about it. Anyone can make a physics-shattering hyper weapon if they've got infinite energy to throw at the problem, doing it with finite power is a challenge.
>>
>>54263476
>>54263489
Logically all things being equal, wouldn't near-infinite speed come with all kinds of horrible side effects on the mind and body? Even assuming all friction is safely nullified, there's inertia and steering and whatnot.

>>54263523
To be fair I don't think it was explicitly infinite energy. Just some...quantum bullshit that let it "unfurl" into existing in multiple universes at once. And it's a lot smaller scale than what some interpretations of Friction Modulation sound like; she doesn't blow up buildings, she just penetrates things. Really hard.

If Foil just bought herself some weight red gloves she couldn't do a Saitama impression, she'd just wave through things.

>>54263525
The only other cape I can think of is Legend, whose energy form/consciousness dilation/lasers survived going multiple rounds with Scion and Endbringers. His finest apparently scored permanent scars on the avatar. Which doesn't sound impressive, until you remember Scion physically pulversied Alexandria's "invincibility" with his stilling light, and a Siberian clone crashed through him while he just shrugged it off.
>>
>>54263554
The beautiful thing about the word "quantum" is that it's a convenient way of writing "space magic" without looking too silly.

The operative word being "too", of course.
>>
>>54263489
Definitely superior to every other speedster in the setting. More generally, Worm doesn't do the whole scale-without-limit thing; some powers look like they might, like Lung's, but ultimately they run on shards in the background, and those only have so much energy to draw from.

>>54263565
The language of the power seems to explicitly negate any unfortunate side effects:
>...and any negative effects you would suffer from the forces involved are negated. This includes kinetic force that would cause damage to you from your own actions, so despite your speed you cannot strike with any more force than you can safely handle.

That said, apparently the jumpmaker has auxiliary rulings on this ability in particular? Or at least, the other anon mentioned them.
>>
>>54263489
>more powerful then the other powers
Doormaker - Transdimensional portals
Gravity Manipulation - 2 block radius dominion of gravity. Alterations can stay in place until you explicitly remove them.
Topography Manipulation (AKA Vista's power) - Twist space into knots.
Warp Spasm (AKA Lung's power) - Infinitely scaling conflict-driven boost.
Alexandria Package - Shouldn't have to explain Alexandria if you're familiar with Worm.
Sting (AKA Flechette/Foil's power) - Attack across all dimensions simultaneously.
Biosculptor (AKA Panacea's power) - Touch based comprehension and reshaping of biology.
Thought Implantation - The "impossible" power of telepathy, mind reading, and mind control/manipulation.
Thanatos - A projection that grows in power when it kills. No upper limit.
Queen Administrator (AKA No, Jumper, You are the Skitter) - Bug control. And that minor bit about infinitely scaling multitasking. "Meh, I can take her."
Geist - Intangible, invisible, and possession - including memory reading.
Path to Victory - Not as good as Contessa, but still at Bullshit 12 PRT ranking.
Iterative Improvement (AKA Dauntless's power) - Alright, so it's not going to be that great for a while... But it's infinitely scaling.

Personally, I think those on this list are actually "more powerful" or "similarly powerful" to Assault's.
>>
>>54263574
Have you seen Supreme Commander?
They use "quantum" like it's cotton-candy and they're sugar addicts.
Quantum Artillery, Quantum Gates, Quantum Computers, Quantum AI, Quantum Dildos!

Not really making a case or anything, just something I find amusing.
>>
>>54263525
Queen Administrator is able to completely control anything with an active nervous system. Legend is a living laser on the level of Foil's power apparently. The amount of miniaturization that Armsmaster's efficiency thing does is so good it can make thorns able to bypass galactic durability atomic structures. Path of Victory is a simulation system so advanced it always works.

>>54263574
Quantum Mechanics is an actual science being studied IRL, though I understand if you mean that in the 'how Fiction tends to use this' way.
>>
>>54263606
>The amount of miniaturization that Armsmaster's efficiency thing does is so good it can make thorns able to bypass galactic durability atomic structures.
Nah, Taylor says at one point after the timeskip when she's just describing all the cool things that happened instead of actually showing it to us that the nanothorn can only get around 70% into an Endbringer before they get too dense for them to penetrate. That's still just sub-continent durability, a blast that could have vaporized India was able to do equivalent damage to Behemoth. Actually probably less durable, Behemoth is an energy manipulator so that blast wouldn't have hurt him as much as it would another Endbringer. Still, country to continent levels of damage from a few branching carbon structures is nothing to sneeze at.
>>
>>54263602
>Alexandria Package - Shouldn't have to explain Alexandria if you're familiar with Worm.
To be fair, the Alexandria Package in the jump is pretty mediocre with the exception of the "powers don't work inside you" part. Compared to the others, at least.
>>
>>54263606
I don't think Legend and Khephri are quite on that level-as said earlier, Legend merely scared him permanently, while Foil outright punched a hole to his core. And Taylor decided not to mess with Sleeper, so it seems her power has some limit.

And I did, yes.

>>54263602
The weird thing is there's a case at the upper levels, Lung is actually buffer than Alexandria. It's been a while but I remember Lung briefly pinned him when he went full Godzilla, whereas like anon said he just punched his way through Alexandria.

Also I think not everyone seems to be aware the power is Assault's so they assumed it reaches far beyond what he does, who is definitely not a top tier cape.
>>
>>54263639
True, but as a comparison to Assault's power, it still trumps it. That's all I was looking at when I made the list.
>>
>>54263602
>Thought Implantation - The "impossible" power of telepathy, mind reading, and mind control/manipulation.
Nitpick, but the only person that says that is Glory Girl, while remembering her flawed lessons. The author and rest of the serial confirm it's not. It just doesn't work via "the astral plane" and such.
>>
>>54263651
>Also I think not everyone seems to be aware the power is Assault's so they assumed it reaches far beyond what he does, who is definitely not a top tier cape.
I believe you mean Velocity, not Assault. Assault's thing is absorbing and emitting kinetic energy, Velocity's the speedster who can't interact with his surroundings at super speed.
>>
>>54263681
It's been a while, anon was talking about Assault's so I dunno.

Almost all those aren't a match.

>Doormaker
That's a power I guess? It's certainly not as crazy good as in canon since it's not used in combination with the locator.

>Gravity Manipulation
Sure, that's strong. The user is still instantly dead.

>Vista's power
Again, that's a power. It's not on the same scale.

>Warp Spasm
Over time, with sufficient conflict. You're not going straight to any level you want.

>Alexandria
It's far, far weaker then Alexandria.

>Sting
Already acknowledged.

>Biosculpter
Great but not the same scale. Hard to compare.

>Thought Implantation
Your only reasoning is based on the rarity in setting.

>Thanatos
Aside from having to be able to kill your targets, yeah, no limit.

>Queen Administrator
You don't have Taylors plot armour. "Meh, I can take her" is rather less impressive when you're not protected from amazingly stupid stunts by plot.

>Geist
Another power but it's still not really the same scale.

>PtV
It's not 12 rating. It's good but it's a while away from that.

>Dauntless
You keep misunderstanding this infinitely scaling thing. Those are over time. The other power isn't.

Fun fact: I have picked up basically every videogame collection available in the chain. I think the only one I didn't grab was Slice of Life's, because that one is pretty shitty. And, anyway, these collections involve at least two massive collections of retro games, including the one from Kid Radd, and also the one from Megas XLR! Which means I definitely own these games! Twice! And, I've picked up a couple different perks that let me replace training with videogames! So of course I play videogames all the time. And, thanks to some other perks, I even have computers in my brain and zero-dimensional space that I can access all the time, and you better believe those are chock full of ROMs.

So, basically, I got up to some crazy Matrix shit! Septuple backflips while firing ricochets into the enemy kindof shit. It was crazy! And my companions -- who were floating back beside my shoulder -- were all like, "What the fuck is happening?! Who are you and what have you done with Konata?!" And I was all, "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!", and then I speedran the games.

Most of the powers are upgraded beyond their canon counterparts or sometimes downgraded. Using the canon character as a base doesn't really work.
>>
>>54263727
Sure, but nobody's arguing any of the others let you reach infinite velocity either. Not even Legend's, and in the story he's the superman analogue not Velocity.
>>
>>54263713
>You keep misunderstanding this infinitely scaling thing. Those are over time. The other power isn't.
It is on its own. Yeah, if you have perks to let you instantly accelerate it isn't, but on its own it actually have pretty crappy acceleration. The power is to reverse thedirection of friction, thus the name, and turn the forces that would resist your acceleration into aiding your acceleration. So you're still limited in how fast you can accelerate to human running speed + air and surface contact friction. You're going to need to be running for a while to build up to light speed or beyond.
>>
>>54263717

Which makes it combo really well with stuff from Sonic and Mario that allows you to just start off anywhere up to your top speed.
>>
>>54263713
It does actually seem like Friction Modulation is an over-time sort of scaling. In particular, the phrasing seems to suggest that you only increase your speed as fast as friction would normally decrease your speed. Which, mind you, is still pretty fast.

The exact phrasing for reference:
>You are capable of not only ignoring friction, but reversing its effects to increase your speed and momentum instead.

Fun fact: the fastest acceleration this way requires maximizing friction. You therefore build speed faster by lying facedown on the ground and sliding around. This will get you up to 60 mph in a few seconds, and then you can just keep going.

I honestly don't know. It's further complicated by the fact that my chain is in some kind of constant timeline flux, because I slot jumps in between other jumps, and I don't always state or keep track of where a jump is located, so my whole chain is like some wibbly wobbly timey whimey ball instead of any kind of coherent path or line.

I'm going to guess somewhere between 500-600 jumps, but I might be off by a hundred.
NES Pack, I would like to say, probably takes place around jump 50-100, but there's probably about 200 jumps that I'd like to say take place around that period, so who even knows anymore. At the very least, it came after Megas XLR (got a huge collection of retro games and extra-dimensional computers), Kid Radd (got a second huge collection of retro games) Va11-Ha11-La (got a computer in my brain), and "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute" (got a "train using videogames" perk), and those weren't taken in sequence, so yeah, it's probably somewhere up in the early hundreds or seventy-fives at least. Maybe?

Of course, the alternative where I kept everything static would just trigger my OCD and I'd end up ripping apart my chain several times a week, and I've come so far now that thinking about organizing my jumps into something truly coherent is an existential nightmare, so... y'know how it is!
That's probably a vaguer, more in-depth answer than you were hoping for, but my chain's organization is kindof a tragedy at this point.

Oh well.
>>
>>54263713
So... What you're proposing is that we lobotomize two people's ability to decide "this isn't in my best interests at this moment" and drop them into a white room for power-dick measuring? Of course instant powers, especially one that's ultimately "I'm fast," is going to come out on top... Theoretically.

Here's the thing: Velocity doesn't hit hard. At all. In fact, the faster he goes, the weaker he hits.

You go fast. Doormaker drops you outside the atmosphere.
You go fast, Vista points you into space.
You go fast. Gravity says you go up - As an aside, it's selective gravity manipulation, not "crush everything in the field all at once"
You go fast. I get mad. You're not hitting that hard. It annoys me. The initial ramp-up is fast with Lung.
You go fast. You punched a semi-stasis locked person who hits harder.
Skipping Sting.
Biosculptor is dependent on touching first, granted. That happens, and there is no fight.
You don't go fast, because the thought doesn't cross your mind.
Thanatos skipped.
You go fast. But you can't see for shit through the cloud that's slowing you down due to the whole "don't hit as hard" bit. Also, crushed insect guts are lubricant. Reduced friction.
You go fast. You pass through Geist. Geist now goes fast.
Not having automatic Aimbot levels of addition doesn't make PtV any less of a bullshit power if you've got the skills to back it up.
Dauntless' power would require time to charge. Someone with this power would, if they had half a brain, avoid getting into stupid fights with speedsters and the like until they had something to work with.

I'm not saying that these powers are outright "better" than Velocity's. I specifically picked them out of the list because I could see a way to use them against it. I also picked them under the assumption that we weren't trying to white-room conflict this whole thing.
>>
>>54263883
Seriously man, you need to stop thinking this is Velocity's power. It isn't. The powers in the jump mostly do not work like the canon ones. Most of them are stronger.

This power doesn't have velocity's weaknesses. It's like you two are talking completely passed each other with this, since one of you is working with the power in the jump and one of you is working with a different power from the series.
>>
>>54263883
Not that guy, but I was under the impression this was about what the jump had to offer, rather than what the canon powers were--and the jump's version of velocity's power has no faster-means-weaker limitation listed.

How do you decide your enemies' powers?
>>
>>54263903
>>54263901
Except it does have a similar limitation:
>despite your speed you cannot strike with anymore force then you can safely handle.
>>
>>54263883
The jump version doesn't have that weakness and none of the other powers are fast enough to catch the friction modulator at the start. So most of these fights in reality go more like

>Friction Modulator runs away from enemy everytime they get close until they build up enough speed and then rain down thousands of human strength punches on their opponent. If it's certain powers, just continue building speed until you can hit them before they process it.

And certain powers couldn't be hit but those same powers couldn't catch the speedster anyway.
>>
>>54263929
That's similar but very different in reality. You're still punching with the strength of a normal person.
>>
>>54263917
What, you mean for custom enemies?
>>
>>54263929
The confusion suddenly becomes clear. That statement in full is
>Any negative effects you would suffer from the forces involved are negated. This includes kinetic force that would cause damage to you from your own actions, so despite your speed you cannot strike with anymore force then you can safely handle.

Which means that, rather than the forces themselves being weakened, their effects on *you* are weakened to be manageable.

They're all in a worddoc. In the very beginning of jumpchain, this was perfectly fine, because we had like maybe twenty jumps and it wasn't a big deal, and everyone thought you couldn't get more powerful than turning things into Philosopher's Stones, but over time it just grew and grew and got out of control and ridiculous. I usually hit the word search function to actually find a jump.

As for remembering where I got certain perks or powers, that's all dependent on memory.

Portals are great in general! Though personally I prefer the Eliatrope ones-more out of force of habit than anything. While interdimensional travel takes longer to set up, they do come with spiritual sight, portal-launched life energy lasers/weapons and much quicker spamming as long as you're opening in the same dimension.

Though after the latest Rick and Morty episode, this does make me wonder what a Tinker-Hero or Bakuda in particular-could make of that portal technology...

>>54264133
Well, the direct effects can vary; sometimes it just summons Abyssal entities near your general location, other times stuff rots or your magic backfires.

Since Paradox is effectively "static" from bad trnamissipn to the Supernal Realms, I'd tentatively think yes, Shaping Defences would work. I imagine stuff like DC Occult's The Moving Finger Writes (although technically, that's identical to a canon way you can ignore most Paradox gains), RWBY's Jam and a Barrier Noble Phantasm could conceivably negate the stuff (or something like Astolfo's magic horse). As long as the focus
is on disrupting or negating some kind of outside interference.

Hmm. That is a nice idea. Something like this?

Trademark Apparel - Free With Call-Sign
Select a distinctive item of clothing or an accessory that you'd almost never be caught without - something like silver anti-flash glasses, a fireman's helmet, or a Yankees baseball cap. This item's appearance is tied to your deeds and Call-Sign; so much so that anyone who sees it will immediately associate it with your Call-Sign's identity and reputation. Also, some odd quirk of fate will cause it to be reunited with you if you are ever separated. If you've got a piece of clothing or an accessory you're already attached to, you may import it for no extra cost.

I like the Breach ones from Generator Rex. Of course, that's part of my own force of habit. I mean, I'm sure anyone else is going to defend their pick as best pick. But as far as I'm aware, Breach portals are the only kind you can just straight up throw at people, which is really great if you're trying to purposefully fling someone into the bottom of the ocean or something like that. Also, it comes with your own potential pocket dimension!

Myself, mostly I guess? Pretty much all my jumpers just look like better/prettier versions of me anyway. I usually just use pictures for outfit inspiration, since I go through a tonne of those.

That's usually a mix and match affair, since I don't want to entirely copy one persons' outfit (Barring stuff from real life like fashion shows and the like) and it's rare to find one outfit that's entirely amazing. And it can be from pretty much anything, though generally it's from artists I like rather then ones I don't, even if the pics good or the clothes are interesting.

Right now I'm going through a bit of an armour phase so I'm really into some of the later Saint Seiya art, the really fancy art. Man, it's tempting to go for a Lost Canvas jump instead of my next planned one. SS armour is so goddamn cool.
>>

>>
>>54264940
Could easily have a couple but yeah, it'd be cool. Normally I'd go right for it but I've got plans and too many collabs and even on a single series level, Saint Seiya is fucking huge.

>>54264993
Sometimes it's the little details that can make the outfit. Even if you prefer certain styles, the way you do those styles or even just what accessories you use, can make the whole thing feel different. S'all just about experimenting with new things really.

Heck, sometimes you don't know how much you like an outfit till you see it in motion, so just looking at pics for inspiration might not be enough.
>>
>>54265008
The most common recurring element is a particular coat that's hanging about 10 feet from me right now. It was given to me as a gift several years ago, and if I were to be going somewhere and had time to grab it, it'd be going too.

Myself I suppose, and what I find comfortable, what I can use to tease or creep people out.

Like I find pajama pants and t-shirts nice and comfortable since they soft and warmy and swooshy. That's not the creepiest thing though and it makes me stand out too much and I don't care for that by itself. You know what helps that though? Darker colors and one of the other things I like doing, hanging out in a young/child-like form.

Random kids running around in dark clothes can be passed over if you're not looking for them since they're small and blend in. Catching people by surprise is a nice way to give someone a spook too, so it works out.

As a rule I also just like imagining Jumper with longer hair since I used to have long hair and it was really soft and comfy. It plays double duty too since it can conceal my face. A random kid in dark clothes and a concealed face can very easily lead to good spook fuel too which is nice.

>“…a fictional character who is portrayed in an idealised way and who is generally lacking in any truly noteworthy flaws (or having his/her flaws romanticised)… characters labelled Mary Sues, as well as the stories they appear in, are generally seen as wish fulfilment fantasies on the part of the author”. ~Wikipedia.org

>If all of this proves insufficient to persuade the reader, the Epistler will simply refer to Paolini’s own words. Eragon is my daydream. Eragon does the things I would like to do. He started out as me but changed into his own character (the Epistler must stifle an incredulous cough at this point).
>Why would anyone need further proof? Paolini admitted it himself. Eragon is his self-insert who does the things that he would like to do. In other words, he was created for no reason other than pure wish-fulfilment and self gratification. Or, to put it more simply, Eragon is a Mary Sue.
>>

I mean...I'm not one to like the series but that quote seems to take quite a few liberties with what the author said and what they take it to mean.
>>
>>54266982

>>
>>54266982
>He started out as me but changed into his own character (the Epistler must stifle an incredulous cough at this point).
So pretty sure this Epistler guy is talking out of his ass, given how important this sentence is. Paolini started writing the story, or at least got the idea, when he was still a teen. It didn't get published till his early twenties but the idea was something he had at high school age.

Now, there's a pretty damn big difference between "He was my daydream as a high schooler" and what the character changed into by the time the book was actually written, something he specifically says there.

Most of the bullshit Eragon is even known for doesn't even happen until the third or fourth books, years and years after the latest possible time these quotes could talk about.

The books aren't great and Eragon does turn into a Mary Sue but this is shit evidence for it.
>>
>>54267057
To be fair, Eragon also gets special power ups, turns into a super special hybrid elf, gets constantly fawned over in later books by many of his allies and often wins battles that would be impossible for his other allies.

He DOES have many mary sue traits but he's also got a lot of anti sue stuff as well. So it's not hard to see why many might think he's a straight up mary sue since the books don't exactly get much good discussion on 4chan of all places.
>>
>>54266890
I'm guessing it was Cats hedging his bets. The newest episode kind of validates that, turns out an imperfect form of the portal gun straight up vaporises matter, and by sabotaging the Council of Ricks' base's central battery Rick can telefrag the entire station inside the Galactic Federation's HQ

Pretty sure he's blown people up and split them in half with the weird slime energy his portals are made of too, it's pretty much concentrated superscience. And the Federation are apparently desperate for the secret of how he made it.
>>
>>54267092
