You freeze stuff to preserve it, it kills off bacteria, and white snow has a pretty pure look to it.
It's not necessarily as nice as pure Light or Light + Fire, instead it focusses on the remorseless nature of the Light to purge the evil and preserve the good.

if light and fire combine into a violent, passionate, pure, and righteous fury which can make changes for the better through roaring and burning zeal, then light and cold could combine into elegant, collected, wise, pure, and righteous tranquility which can maintain the peace through graceful and calm precision.
This is a super underrepresented idea in western culture. Maybe because it's so against our idea of heroic masculinity, I'm not sure. It's pretty in line with some eastern ideals of masculine heroism.
