Use the Iron Kingdoms Roleplaying setting for steampunk. I like the mechanics too but it's not for everyone.

Iron kingdoms is a lot of fun to play, but GMing is an utter nightmare. There is no real difficulty scaling on the different Warjacks. You have to eyeball the Warmachine MkII points and hope your party doesnt have a one sided fight on either side.
