Cargo manipulation - basically anything that a forklift is used for that's not specifically pallets (and even there they might be useful, but pallets and forklifts is a very good system)

In Xenoblade Chronicles X, mechs come in civilian variants and are used as super forklifts for industrial and construction purposes; any activity that has you lift girders, cargo, or basically anything else heavy can benefit from stripped-down mechs.

I remember that a lot of settings with Mechs have them originate as bipedal forklifts and other construction vechicles. Armored core for example used them because they were more space effective/nimble than standard construction vechicles, can turn easier, etc. which was important in tight underground spaces.

Anything we use wheeled/tracked machines for can be replaced with mechs.

So, we then have mechs that lay prebuilt bridges down for others to go over. Recovery mechs for hauling others back from the front lines. Mech baseball. Orbital construction mechs.

Closest they'd get to combat (while still being practical) would be with military engineers. They'd certainly have a variety of uses, from base-building to clearing obstructions.

I really like mechas but it always cracks me up when Japan tries to justify them with "they are quicker" or "they are more agile than tanks!"
