Few changes but still ok.
I prefer the big rulebook rules, use the new only if
1) you need to play with the new models (why?)
2) you feel big monsters are underpowered, in that case import the big monster rules and perhaps the elvish sword rules.
You don't need much else

Same game, different name, with the caveats that stupid shit from the Hobbit movies being made more resembles AoS models than LotR ones, and that the LotR kits themselves are now twice as expensive as they were even 5-6 years ago.
