Basically Night Lords and Raven Guard and Raptors. I guess the Raven Guard and all the sneaky chapters are redundant now because every chapter has these guys, unless Raven Guard Reivers are extra sneaky.

Double sneaky.

Raven Guard are fucked by Primaris in general though, because apparently Corvus helmets don't fit them but all the other ones do.

apparently the stock standard primaris get guard duty at all items because gotta not be Nulegions

If the multi-part models allow us to put bolters and beakies on them they would look like the very first marines.

Shame they're not in scale with any of the vehicles though.

Should be fine on Reivers, they don't have the gorget. I for one am looking forward to only using Reivers for my super sneaky Raptor army.

I don't even know mate, I think people forgot the average man is 6 ft tall 38 million years into the future and that marines are between 7 and 8 feet tall.

So the old models were about right in high. Nu-marines are more balancing the scale by making their heads and arms the correct size.
>>
>>54109403
>I guess the Raven Guard and all the sneaky chapters are redundant now
In fluff, yes, but mechanically, given how the rules for every Primaris unit they've made has been hot garbage, sneaky oldmarines still very much have a place on tabletop.

I just get a weird feeling about the numarines and their units. They feel like videogame units or something. I can't put my finger on it. But rather than just "tactical squads" and "assault squads" and such, we get all these uber-copyright-friendly names.

It just doesn't feel right. It doesn't scream warrior-monk angel of death anymore. They feel like stormcrap eternals or whatever.
>>
>>54110640

GW is supposedly working on a new big 40k game and the models are designed to be easier to code.

Space Marine 2 soon?
>>
>>54110640

>>
>>54110640
>we get all these uber-copyright-friendly names.

I WONDER WHY
>>
>>54110640
They have less flavor than the old stuff. The Reivers in particular seem very targeted towards 13 year olds who think that super sneaky spec-ops operational operators are the peak of coolness.

They feel more like real-life special forces than 7-8 ft tall Knights in Space.

>>
>>54110729

I didn't say it was necessarily a bad thing, I just said this is point where what you like and what the rest of GW's audience likes starts to diverge and you'll probably move to historical wargaming or other sci-fi games and just use your old models for them.
>>
>>54110706
Yes.

Space Marines are losing the old grimdark warrior-monk space-crusader super soldiers flavor.

Eventually I think I'm gonna make a space Marines army using primaris bodies with the old style helmets and even old style bolters and special weapons and everything and just count them as regular Marines.

>>54110729
Oh shut up. Don't be an ass.
>>
>>54110764
The Primaris Marines don't have that gothic dark feel about them that Chapters like the Dark Angels or Black Templars have I agree. But it hasn't come exactly out of left field, they resemble the Great Crusade Space Marines from the first few Horus Heresy books. Guys who joke around and play games and are optimistic. It's obviously meant to be a callback to them, so it'll be interesting to see how they develop over the years.
>>
>>54110851
Eh, maybe. But I don't mean the fluff, I mean even the little stuff like unit names and armor design and whatever.
>>
>>54110697
>that stops the copyright some how.
Spell crow, cromlech, etc etc ain't going to be in any way dissuaded
>>
>>54110851
Yeah, but the HH stuff at least does a good job of having each legion feel like they have a distinct flavor and heritage. FW has released upgrade kits for literally every legion's tactical squads.

>>54109289

>>
>>54112481
On one hand I do agree with you but on the other Chapter House was a huge wake up call on how they manage releases, I mean pre-CH GW would take years to shit out half of their codices for the current edition and that changed immediately after the CH debacle and you got an edition where every army had an up to date codex.

I think it forced them to clean up their shit and it also killed their art department.

No, all companies that engage in aggressively anti-consumer practices like customer gouging or maliciious litigation are bad companies, these are both practices GW has engaged in. GW's current approach of "lay down IP on everything and refuse to do anything that can't be copyrighted" is only a symptom. GW should just accept the competition and rely on delivering a better product at a lower price.

No. I pretty regularly complain about companies using IP as an excuse to be dicks. GW has responded to falingerie sales by price gouging, tried to claim trademark on the term space marine, and ordered a takedown of fan made player aids from board game geek. That's all kind of dickish and their current method of developing the game reflects their attitude.

If a company is good to me as a fan, I give them my money.

If I do not personally like their business model then I give somebody else my money.

THAT, my friend, is how a market economy is supposed to work. "COMPANIES GOTS TO MAKE MONEY", that's no godamned excuse for anything, we choose where our money goes, we get to judge the people we're giving it to.
>>
>>54114821
White people responded to blacks with slavery, what's your fucking point.
>>
>>54114829

Your mistake is thinking you are the majority or that you matter. The real world, with economics and the market data, are showing that your opinion about GW is wrong.

OR, GW customers are all just dumb kucks, it could be that too.
>>

Grapnel is still very much in common usage though, at least in the UK.
>>
>>54114862

It's more about making fun of people selectively taking a moral stand against GW.
>>
>>54114847

What the fuck are you talking about? I didn't say that I was the majority, and I matter as much as any other fuckoff with a gaming budget, no more and no less.

My opinion of GW is that they aren't getting my money.

My opinion of consumers in general is that they are stupid sheep and don't realize how much power they have. Don't pay people that you don't like.

If you don't approve of GW's practices, if you wish that they were better to their fans or that the companies who ARE better to their fans were more successful, and you're still giving them you're money, then I think you're a shit. You exist, and you are the majority of humans, but you're still shit.
>>
>>54114910

You don't have to suck GW's dick but you sure as hell don't have to spout the same tired, and outdated might I add, tripe that we've heard for half a decade.
>>
>>54114916

The money I gave to Kobold Press and Steam and Magic the Gathering last year could have been theirs. I don't always dig Hasbro, but I don't think their practices are as bad as GW, and I also keep in mind that they're bringing me a product which smaller game companies simply couldn't, not with 4 new sets and 2 new worlds every year, I dig this and I'm happy to fund it, even though I think its stupid that only 2-5 cards out of every pack are playable.

But the point is, yes, EVERY traditional gamer's gaming money is potentially their money.

>>54114926

What makes you think your opinion is so amazing that you had to share it with us? Literally nobody gives a shit and would rather you hadn't posted at all. Think of everything you've bought in the last year and consider how many evil companies were involved in producing and/or selling that product.

Oh, and no, its not like I was ABOUT to buy $500 dollars worth of space marines but then read up on their business practices and changed my mind. I'm probably not going to buy a miniature and paint it any time in the next couple years, that's a hobby I wouldn't take up unless I lived near a gaming store, and I knew a pool of people who all played the same wargame (and that wargame wasn't a GW game).
>>

You hate GW for suing people but you buy MTG, from the company that literally patented the mechanic of "tapping" cards, and aggressively defends their IP through lawsuits all the time.

Yes. And I admit, that has something to do with the fact that there's no smaller company offering the same product, which you can't say for GW. Stop, time out, real talk, you are expressing something that has mystified me for years and I am BEGGING you to explain it. Why would that cause you to retract your criticism of GW? Why would you say, "Oh, I've participated in evil before, so I guess I might as well just do so again?"

>>
>>54115070
>Yes. And I admit, that has something to do with the fact that there's no smaller company offering the same product, which you can't say for GW.

If you are invested in MTG specifically you won't settle for a competing CCG. Likewise if you're invested in 40k the setting, another SF game based on another setting is not an alternative, because it's not 40k. SF settings are not always interchangeable.

Right now I hate GW for what they did with 8th edition and Primaris marines, but that's not going to suddenly make me go buy Malifaux or X-wing or Gates of Antares for example when I already considered them and dismissed them because none of them appeal to me.
>>

>I wonder what the retards that make these think when they make them?

Their website says it's for mechanized units.
>>
>>54110673
no
>>
>>54115079

No, I mean that a smaller company can't generate a new block with a new world twice a year. If they did then I would play those games too because I just think that's so awesome and want to finance it.

I certainly *like* Warhammer, but new Warhammer material.. isn't really new. They just do it to jerk more money out of you and they don't give you much sugar in turn, it's just a tax for continuing to play the game.

Magic could operate like that, they could put in a lot less effort and make more money in the short term if they just coasted along with a lot of reprinted cards and a basic cash-extraction model. And then they wouldn't get any more of mine, no matter how much I love the basic game, there would be other card games where I could have more fun for less money.
>>
>>54115059

>>
>>54115101

"How can you solve one problem and not all the others?"

I just don't see any contradiction here. The fact that I'm criticizing GW doesn't mean I'm NOT pissed off about coal power or that I DON'T hate the fossil fuel industry... but, even if I didn't, it wouldn't make me wrong in any way about GW. It would just be an opportunity for you to teach me something about coal power.

You seem to think that anybody who cares about anything is a hypocrite unless they care about everything equally. I encounter this attitude a lot, no one ever explains it, and it makes no sense to me.

If you randomly pick one thing to bitch about, despite WILLINGLY KNOWING you ought to be bitching about other things, or you let certain equivalent things slide, you are an annoying, noisy hypocrite.

Everyone is a hypocrite. Everyone. It's just that most of us have the good sense to not be noisy and annoying about it, realizing full well how hypocritical it would be of us to single out any one vice and not the others we knowingly abet.

This is simple common sense, something you obviously lack. If it's too hard for you, go with the age old "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

lol, those reprints were fan-friendly moves. They dampened the second-hand value of everything Wizards printed after that point, because now fans know that tournament staples will eventually be reprinted. This move was good for the community.

>>54115194

If you say so.

I would be a hypocrite if I ran my OWN unethical gaming company and then criticized GW. If I criticize GW but don't criticize another company I'm just being inconsistent; that might be because I am biased, or it might be because I don't know about the other company, or it might be because I have different opinions about that other company. You don't know any of that, you're just saying "BUT WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHER EVIL IN THE WORLD???" because it offends you when people criticize GW.

"Games Workshop is Bad!"
"What about this other company that's bad?"
"Well, I don't know, what about them? Lets talk about them."

That exchange makes sense to me.
Or,

"Games Workshop is bad and Hasbro isn't!"
"You're being inconsistent, here's why Hasbro is bad, and if you can't admit that Hasbro is bad then in order to be consistent you must retract your criticism of GW."
"Shit, you've got me." (Or, alternately, "You've misjudged Hasbro" or "You've misunderstood why I hate GW).

Like the exchange I just had, that was good, and it really does make me think that I should pay more attention to what this company's lawyers are doing, because I'm helping to pay those lawyers.

But, when it goes like,
"Games Workshop is bad!"
"Other bad companies exist too!"
"Shit, you're right, I retract my criticism."

This exchange makes no sense.
>>
>>54115242

"This shit is inescapable". So you're a limp-dicked defeatist and you don't think you should spend any effort trying to make the world better?

Parasitism is how capitalism works. Parasitism is what gives the consumer leverage.

It always amuses me how the most staunch alt-faggots laud capitalism until it doesn't do what they want anymore.

If GW didn't want to get fucked by 3rd parties literally all it would have to do is release a better product- that includes both price and quality.

I think that being a judgmental consumer is worth your time. Its not just that you are committed to their game, you are CHOOSING to REMAIN committed. I think that's the core of what people seem to instinctively dislike about this new development. Even with all the hilarious skub that is the HH books, there's enough of that depth and realism we all like.
But when handwavy macguffins are trotted out to the fore no matter the cool factor or if the changes that come with them are good, when they can be explained with a parody of a bitchy ignorant teen while making more sense it just doesn't taste the same.
This amuses me.

>Capitalism is about big companies getting bigger. Competition isn't good for capitalism

No your describing Corporatism, which has supplanted Capitalism in our country.
>>
>>54130510
Quick anon, explain how a system based on the rich being rewarded for being rich doesn't lead to corporation coopting the law to their own benefit.
>>
>>54130537
"The doctrine of free competition is essential to the functioning of a capitalist economy, and as such, anti-competitive behaviour in the market poses a crucial weakness in capitalist economics. Issues such as monopolistic behaviour on the part of corporations, and aspects of intellectual property laws pose problems to capitalist economies."

What the fuck does "Reiver" even mean? It looks like a fucking made up word. Well, no, it looks like a kid misspelled a real word. It sounds like something that should be drawn in crayon accompanying a Deviantart DOnut Steel image.

http://www.dictionary.com/browse/reiver
>>
>>54130608
"Border reivers were raiders along the Anglo-Scottish border from the late 13th century to the beginning of the 17th century. Their ranks consisted of both Scottish and English families, and they raided the entire Border country without regard to their victims' nationality. Their heyday was perhaps in the last hundred years of their existence, during the time of the Stewart Kings in Scotland and the Tudor dynasty in England."

Reivers is a name for raiders who attacked the border counties in England years ago. It's stupid and barely related, but there is some historical precedent to the name.

nigga that's literally every system.
Only republican/democratic models have some inoculation against it (on the account of it being a Representative system not a direct oligarchy) but as the system ages it loses that.
