I'm playing a Kobold Necromancer in an upcoming DnD game.

Despite being neutral-aligned, she is ambitious yet autistic, having poor communicative, reasoning and social skills but being ridiculously intelligent.

I'd like to get creative. Most necromancers go down the path of "Amass minions, become a lich, pine for domination". While that's all well and good, I'd like to take it a step beyond and find some ways to try and have personal aspirations and development that go beyond generic necromancer things.

Whether it be used for the good of the realm or for vicious power-grabs, what are some creative ways I can use the art of undeath and fleshcrafting to shape the world around me?

Sounds pretty cancerous
>>
>>54057344
What ambitions does he have exactly?
>>
>>54057344
Autistic Kobold Necromancer.

I'm struggling.
>>
>>54057344
How did your character get autism in a world without vaccines?
>>

I should mention the game has not started yet and we've only rolled our characters.

They were taken in by a now-dead human necromancer as an assistant. He died in a magical accident and now they took his (presumably un-used) phylactery. I suppose their current motivations are "Get better at necromancy" and "Put the phylactery to good use". That's where I'm trying to figure out more goals that aren't your standard necromancer spiel, but still involve using necromancy.

I am too.

Too much minecraft

>Despite being neutral-aligned
Sounds like you have entirely the wrong view of alignment.

Live forever.
Liches can be slain, and are dependant on consuming souls. Vampires thirst for blood. Even gods can be killed, if they are starved of worship. None of those beings are truly immortal.
But there is a way to achieve true eternity, yes, and some achieved it. Now neither alive, nor dead, they are forever protected from becoming one with the Planes, not merely immortal - eternal.
You must become a vestige.

The character is starting neutral aligned. This means that they are self-serving within reason. There also isn't a hard alignment system in this campaign, so their motivations will change as the story develops.

What edition? This is very important.
>>
>>54058524
Heavily modified 3.5. Lots of homebrew stuff, but it's still mostly the same, I suppose.

Alright, to list ALL of your options-

To list what's on the menu in 3.5-
Wizard Necromancy specialist
3 Variants to this provided in the Unearthed Arcana
Focused specialist/Master Specialist On Necromancy coupled with Red Wizard Wizard package and the PrC
Cleric Orientated to Necromancy with Choice Gods
Dark Magi full base class Necromancers from Dragon magazine
Deathwalker
Fleshcrafter
Soulstealer
Then you've got the well acclaimed Dread Necromancer from heroes of horror.
And, the not really talked about Death Master from Dragon Compendium

PrC's
Horned Harbringer
Master of Shrouds
Pale master
Walker in the Wastes
Thrall of Orcus

d20
Necromancer base class in Secret college of Necromancy
Crypt Lord PrC found in various d20 works, part of the PrC compendium and the Savage species series

Don't ever pick True Necromancer for ANY reason.

You've also got the likes of the Lich Monster Class Template Web enhancement (just google it) and the means to the ritual presented in Kingdoms of Kalamar, but if you're trying to keep things in line with canon, it's 2e's Van Richten's guide to Liches along with the S&S Ravenloft modules for subsequent adaptions.

Make sure to do your homework on Fat fuck Orcus, read Slayer's guide to the Undead as it's a d20 work referenced in 4e and tells the origins of the fatty, written by the G-man himself, hence why it is credited.

There are a number of 2e things either present in 3.5, or present but undone, some of which are in the d20 Tomes of Horror and Rappan Athuk, a massive adventure with a CR 30+ Orcus, though to note, the canonical Orcus is the one in Dungeon 145-6 I think with the Last word as Dead gods has passed since then.

Reading Heroes of horror and the original 2e necromancers book is important as the core representive of the Dread Necro base class is none other than Kazerabet from the 2e book, neat.

That's a lot of information. Thank you very much. The character is already going to be primarily Fleshcrafter focused, that much is decided.
>>
>>54058806
oh it was dungeon 149-150. Seeing as you're a Kobold, involvement with the cult of Dragon and it's Sammaster issued BS with Dracoliches are important, so read their Dragon magazine entry on their ecology, and the modules which featured Sammaster as an antagonist before he was killed.

>>54058845
There are two types of Fleshcrafter, the one in Dark magi, which is DR frankensteins tier, and the Fleshwarper necromancer, which is centered around Grafts.

Also.
>>
>>54058868
To note, one is a Base class, the other a PrC. You'll want to read up on choice undead from the dragon 324 Article Get more bang for your bones for uses of choice animate dead subjects, Magical pollution (Dragon 350, has Alchemical undead template, and others, fits in with mad science theme) There was also that Dragon magazine issued setting that literally had 40k tier servitors with a template called the Recreated or reborn template, I forget which, but that also comes to mind with the themes you're after. Lastly, A look at Van Richten's guide to the created then the d20 Sword and Sorcery D&D 3.5 ravenloft conversions of the created, Ancient dead, Ghoul Lords etc... also come in handy.
