As a heads up, the arm that's holding the shield is making a fist so it's not too hard to put a gun in the hand, but there's a couple of straps and some holes in their arm. You might need to shave down the shield arm or fill in the holes or put something over them.

I had some leftover pieces from other models, so I'm using them as ministorum Crusaders from a religious feral world.

Okay, this is a list a friend 'helped' me put together (basically did all the work for me) because I want to get into 40k finally and like t'au. Specifically wanted an old-style combined arms list (but no auxiliaries) so fire warriors, crisis suits, vehicles (originally hammerheads, convinced to take a sun shark), etc., like back in THE OLD DAYS.
The list is built specifically to take advantage of box sets (namely T'au Start Collecting and the Optimised Pathfinder Team) to get discounts, with a stealth suit team and a sun shark being the only purchases on top of that to finish the list, because I would like not to go bankrupt as my first act on getting into the hobby.

Can anyone give me any minor changes I could make (although the stuff from the box sets is basically mandatory model-wise, but the individual purchases and wargear can be changed up if really necessary) or any general ideas of how to play this and how it'll perform in a non-waac environment?

Which means the 3rd War on Armageddon between Orks vs Imperium (and for awhile vs Khorne vs Tzeentch) has been going on for 112 years.

The Octarius War? The Swarmlord has been trying (and failing repeatedly) to conquer Octarius/Octaria (a single planet!) for over a century, and Leviathan's Hive Queen has apparently wasted multiple tendrils trying to get that sweet Ork biomass. It's pretty much been a century-long meatgrinder of talons and choppas and death. Lots of death. Recently a whole host of Khorne guys (literally all his champions except Angron and Skulltaker), showed up in system on their little the Blood Crusade (a second wave showed up to back up the first, so they were there for longer than a couple hours), and decided it be a GRAND idea to try and pull their "blood for the blood god" shtick by dropping planetside and attacking both Orks and nids at once. It did not go well for them (especially after the daemons left via warp storm and all of Khorne's mortal followers, including Kharn & the World Eaters, trapped between the Green Tide in full WAAAGH! mode and the Tyranids in full 'OMNOMNOM! SKREEEE!!' mode).

Along with several other interesting events I can't be arsed to mention atm.

-Commanders are better for fusion drops than Crisis, due to improved BS and four hardpoints. 4*Fusion Quadmanders are your go-to for this.

-If you want to use fusion suits for popping heavies, you should give your stealth team a homing beacon so they can drop straight into Melta range.

The main issue I see right now is how do you actually intend to kill things? Breacher team can bum-rush one target from Devilfish, and you have one effective heavy-drop with your fusion suits, but PF aren't a great source of damage, three suits with ATS can help versus light infantry, but don't by themselves put out enough dakka to sustain you, and again your Sun Shark is great versus massive hordes, which you may or may not see at 1000pts. What do you intend to put on objectives to hold them? You seem to lack a central force for all of these pieces to revolve around.

Breachers is pretty much just from trying to cram a lot of things into one list, but I could switch that to a strike team instead no problem since it's pretty much just the same guys in the start collecting set. I'd definitely recommend swapping to Pulse Rifles for your first basic FW team. Breachers can do well in 8e, but don't work as well as the core of your force.

That's fair.

If you can finagle it to fit, I'd recommend it. Being able to use the Melta on the FB as soon as you drop is very potent. It's one of the main reasons to bring stealth suits in the first place.

I might recommend trying to develop your core a bit more, before throwing on all the bells and whistles. A squad or two of PR FW goes a long way, as far as having actual troops to park on objectives and buff with your Ethereal. I'm not sure the Sunshark is necessary at your points-level, unless you're regularly fighting orks/guard/nids.

I'm confused about how power points work in regards to weapons.

example:
Death Company cost 9 Power Points (PP) for a unit of 5.
You add one PP for a total of 10 if you give them jump packs.

Would you run a CSM Daemon Prince or a Chaos Daemons Daemon Prince ? They cost the same, except that the Daemons one has 2 mor HP and has a passive ability regarding which mark he choses.

It seems obvious that anyone would take the Chaos Daemons one since it's objectively better for the same stats, BUT the 2 HP increase puts him at 10 HP which mean that he can be targeted as a normal unit despite him being a character.

So, the question is : are 2 more HP and a passive ability worth losing the ability to hide your DP behind your cultists/marines/poxwalkers/whatever ?

You can conceivably conceal it on your person without look like you have a second, massive penis.

It's very easy with the new charge rules. When you charge, the first model has to end up within 1" of an enemy model that was the target of the charge, and the rest can go wherever the fuck they want as long as they remain in coherency. So you set them up to be around the enemy unit you want to surround, about 2" away, and then pile-in so they end up 0.9" away, and then consolidate after killing some guys so they end up 0.8" away. It's very very easy to use this to wrap around a unit. I've seen it done in plenty of games already. It's easier to understand doing it on the table than trying to explain it, but trust me it's not difficult. Pretty much the only counterplay your opponent can do to this is to set up other units nearby to fuck with it, but if he does this then they'll get dragged into combat too, so his choice is basically "get 3-4 units pulled into combat, be able to fall back with all of them but then none of them can shoot" or "get 1 unit locked in combat and surrounded, cannot fall back but the other units are free to shoot other targets"

What are the general naming conventions for T'au commanders? It seems to be pretty scattered but they keep to 2 words that are interchangeable nouns/adjectives. If you can disassemble the sponsons it's easy. If it's superglued it's kinda tough because even if you freeze the glue you might snap the fragile support rods. If it's plastic glue then lol gg enjoy your Redeemer.
