Back from the dead edition

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or people's homebrew wargames. /hwg/ doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to very specific games, so this thread isn't tied to a game, or a genre, lets talk about fun wargames.

Any scale, any genre, any company, any minis. Skirmishers welcome. Rules designers welcome.

>Examples of games that qualify
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_miniature_wargames
Grimdark Future, Age of Fantasy, Mighty Armies, Dragon Rampant, Of Gods and Mortals, Frostgrave, Hordes of the Things, Songs of Blades and Heroes, Freebooter's Fate, Dark Age, LotR and anything that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread (gorkamundheim).

Bumping for Kings Of War - upcoming global campaign to help shape the fluff and game. I like this game more the more I play it. Loads of fun, lots of freedom for modeling, and most of the fun people came over when the Sundering happened in 2015.

Give it a look!

More warlord sprue sale stuff. 10 celts with some orc equipment, which gonna be a militia/barbarian kind of infantry for DR. The sprue is pretty good, except for some weird poses you have to watch out for.

Missed the post before posting this >>53989142 . Next stop will be some heros and 2 units of infantry and 1 elite infantry , made from roman vets and a hoplite command sprue. This will make it 3x10 units of infantry, 1x6 elite , 3-4heros and a Dragon (reaper bones). I'm thinking about adding a chariot, cav or artillery. The 'fluff' is a temple/cave guard for the dragon. I also have to finish a chaos troll for a nurgle warband for aos hinterlands.
End of blog.

Just finished building some dudes for This is Not a Test.

Basically one of the factions, Caravanners, can take units from other factions lists. It's to represent connections they've gained through trading and such.

The first one, who's by far the simplest, is an Alpha Mutant who I decided to make a Fallout-esque Ghoul. When I noticed that one of the wargames factory zombie heads had sunglasses I decided they were too characterful not to use other than that he's just a WGF Apocalypse survivor with swapped out guns.

Second is a Peacekeeper Warden, basically the closest thing the wasteland has to law.

Same torso as the first guy but with some legs from Mantic Games Enforcer Pathfinders and weapons from Warlord Games Apocalypse Z Spec Ops. The head is also Project Z but from the Bikers Leader sprue.
>>
>>53988043
Painting some Relic Knights and Warzone Resurrection stuff last night. Beta testing of RK2e is really shaping up, Sodapop basically rewrote the game and it plays so much better, still niggling issues here and there but so long as they keep listening to feedback(and the other testers keep their heads out of their arses) we're gonna have a pretty slick anime based skirmish game at the end of it. Gamma.con approaches soon, so I'm going to get onto prodos about sending some demo kits for give-aways to participants that come to my table and starter kits to sell as well(maybe, might not be able to get the funds ready in time) start building some terrain for a new scenario.

Gonna hopefully be a good time all round.

why not,
>>
Quick question for /awg/. Anyone know why people hate Knight Models. I play the game and like it but people seem to dislike the company.
>>
>>53992753

I think it's partly that they had another game going just before they got the licence to do the Batman game they're doing now - but they dropped that other game to do the Batman game. Jimmies were rustled.
>>
>>53992753
I haven't really picked up on any strong sentiments either way, but I've heard that their casting quality does vary a little and there was that thing where they had a DC miniatures game planned that was dropped almost as soon as they teased the first minis or something.
There was a major fuckup with the licenses or something.

Now they are doing a Harry Potter game I think.
>>
>>53992836
Do you mean the Marvel game? I know the license for that was pulled after a few releases.
>>
>>53992936
Yeah right sorry.
Marvel, not DC.

They also used to do Star Wars minis back in the day.
Could have made a pretty penny if they still had been doing that while EpVII was hyped up.
>>
>>53990369
Where did you get the torso from? Purely for research purposes of course.

Also I really like what you did with the spears. They actually look like they are cobbled together rather than just being standard historical spears.
>>
>>53992936
That's right. I am betting that they realized that they didn't want to pay premium for the Marvel license, and decided to double down with universal studios to make the Harry Potter game and DC Universe game among others.
>>
>>53993601

That's the problem with licensed games. Licence fees can get pretty nasty.
>>
>>53992218
Basilea or Dwarves if I can, certainly not siding with the Abyssal s.

Brigade Models have added some new 6mm SF stuff - 6mm lizard cav and, more importantly, new 6mm human infantry and cavalry to replace the generic infantry in one of their ranges. Yeah, they're south africans, but cavalry are something I'm always glad to see on the table.

>>
>>53994685
Moderately hype.

I'd probably need to offload my CEF and Caprice before buying into any new factions but PRDF and Utopia are extremely my shit. PRDF have the cool head-fin Appleseed/Patlabor look going on and Utopia are straight out of Neo-Geo arcade game bosses/slightly shit 80s sci-fi OVAs.

>>53995483
Those South Africans look boss as hell, and make me want to get back into my 1930s Crimson Skies/Valkyria Chronicles inspired Imagi-Nations project, with impractical as hell dieselpunk planes and Wanzer-style mechs (mostly using Heavy Gear models) fighting giant land fortresses and the infantry hordes of the villainous Turk.

But at the same time I want to get a Brigade Neo-Soviet fleet for my Full Thrust campaign setting to use as the New Earth Fleet (who have cool ships with cool new guns but are led by a bunch of warlike assholes compared to the old fleet who remember how Earth was nearly destroyed last time mankind pissed off an alien empire).
>>
How out of place would 1/55 stuff (e.g. civilian cars) look in "Heroic 28" scale?
>>
>>53990282
Radical.
>>
Do you think their would be enough interest in a wargame built around a modern American civil war with squad based combat in 15mm?

I wanted like 4 or 5 main factions with room for smaller groups for people to flavor themselves accordingly with maybe 10 to 30 dudes tops. Fire team level combat (so groups of 3-6 dudes running around as a unit) with a range finder instead of a tape measure ala Xwing.
>>
>>53995928
>But at the same time I want to get a Brigade Neo-Soviet fleet
They're pretty spaceboats, but I don't think I'd be able to resist going full meme and painting them with adidas stripes.

The problem I have with Brigade's 6mm ground miniatures is that there's too much hover & grav. The new Hammer's Slammers ones look great, yeah, but the rest just make me wish they'd put fucking tracks or wheels on things. Fortunately, the Neo-Soviets don't do that, but there's so many other models that could be good if they had more ground contact, Mercs for instance.
>>
>>53996204

First you gotta think of the title, IMHO, tbqh.

>Second American Civil War?
>American Civil War: Round Two?
>ACW2: Electric Boogaloo?
>ACW2: The South Has Risen Up Again?
>ACW2: The Rise of Trump?

C'mon - help me here.

Just pick the rules, and make something to the tune of Very British Civil War only slightly slanted to the modern times.
>>
>>53996262
>ACW2: Electric Boogaloo
I vote to this.
>>
>>53988652
What's the setup for the campaign?
>>
>>53996262
>>53996269
I was thinking for something ultra cliche: Divided We Stand: the Second American Civil War.

Factions would be the

Republic of California (Chinese backed modern 1st world military with low training and no partisan support)

Texas (modern military reliant heavily on partisan support)

Constitutional America (Pretty much all Red states except Texas/Oklahoma)

The United States (New England area, most elite army with best gadgets in upgrades due to it being the America every other country broke off from)

The minor factions would be in disputed areas around the borders like Cascadia wanting to be separate from California and be it's libertarian paradise, the Mormon enclaves of Utah, La Raza settlers in the SW, I want to leave this vague for people to make up their own factions but will give rules for religious zealots in case you want to play Muslim extremists or for gangs in case you want to play the Hells Angels or Crips trying to shirk off city control while the government is weak.

Main mechanics would be a 5 step range finder for shooting. Certain weapons (shotguns, smgs) would do more damage within a certain range but all guns can shoot out to 5. Shooting *similar* to 40k. Basic morale system. Vehicle rule. Mission goals depend on faction types going against each other.

Mostly I just want a fast, skirmish game set in the modern era with room for "your guys".

I like VBCW and will probably steal a lot from it.
>>
>>53996349
But this is all just me thinking "wow I don't like anything right now on the market" and this was my conclusion.

I literally just thought of it while taking a bath
>>
>>53996256
I agree entirely, which is why I went alt history dieselpunk for my 6mm project. Just go on GHQ and buy a shitload of random early war tanks and armoured cars from nations like Italy and France, most of which wouldn't look out of place in Valkyria Chronicles/Full Metal Alchemist/your favourite weeb dieselpunk thing.

GZG have tracked and wheeled 6mm ground stuff that's good, but they also are allergic to photographing miniatures.

>ACW2: STONEWALL *THIS*

Son, I have a couple of folks here that say they're from the 2nd 'Stonewall' Brigade and would like to have a 'word' with ya.
Got a minute?

>>53996349
That's SOCIALIST Republic of California, son, and you've forgotten all about SJW's too. (time for them to show us that 'Warrior' part of theirs)
>>
I'm looking for historical figures to put on my Hippogryph. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm looking mainly for the big ones like Wagglin' Willy, Sal Ah Din, Richard the Lionheart and stuff like that.
>>
>>53996547
It wouldn't be named that way in this setting. It would just be Republic of California and pretty much just all of the USA 50 miles from the Pacific ocean.

The SJW's and Antifa and Oathkeepers and stuff would fall under different variations of partisan groups and can be taken as their own army, or part of a government army if they have overlap in keywords. Like the Hells Angels won't fight for anybody and Antifa mobs won't be fighting with
Conservative governments.

Like the "patriot militia" subfaction is better armed, better at direct combat, and has better morale than "red horde" units but the "red horde" units can place bombs in buildings and is cheaper on a model to model basis. The way I had it worked out is the game would operate with fireteams being the unit type you control mostly so units have health of about 3-6 so red hordes would be wounded easier but their is more health, so countering them would require you to sit down and law out a lot of fire.

California's gimmick would be Chinese funded equipment and training and rely heavily on horde tactics and non-mechanized infantry. Maybe they can take Antifa guys as meat shields.

Texas would be ultra mobile moderate infantry. Can take Militiamen units.

USA would be like Seal Team Six tier.

Constitutional America would be the "average" faction.

Missions would fall under a blanket of Symmetrical Armies, Asymmetrical Fighting, and Street Fighting.

Symmetrical Armies would have higher point values, would involve more vehicles and have more abstract victory conditions that include gathering intelligence or destroying a high value target or recapturing a base.

Asymmetrical Fighting would be terrorists or partisan fighters against state forces. Mostly ambush, bomb defusal, hostage situations, gang crackdowns etc.

Street Fighting would be civilian fighting. Antifa bombing a church? Muslims kidnapping a politician? III%ers playing army guy?
>>
>>53993554

The torso is from Warlord Games Project Z Bikers, the leader sprue specifically.

Well, the top half is from their, the midriff is from the female zombie sprue. Originally I was just going to use the whole zombie torso but then I noticed how, erm, "well equipped" the biker was and decided to use that instead.

I guess tribal girls drink a lot of milk.

Yeah it looks like a really interesting game. My 2 big gripes are:

1) I hate games that use excessive amounts of peripherals like this one does, we have cards, tokens, measuring sticks... why? Why not just use inches and a few special dice instead?

2) I would have liked them to have national factions instead of lumping all the 'white men' into one group.

Antimatter also have another game called Shadow Sea that you can use for that.

Reaper has a lot of miniatures like that too.

As for the diver helmets and harpoons, Meridian miniatures used to have a system of 28mm troopers with all kinds of different heads, but I think he sold the rights for most of the alternate heads to another company. Forgot their name, but should be easy enough to find.

I've been wondering, how common are actual WARgames (I consider 40k and the like to be BATTLEgames) where the conflict happes on a bigger scale. Have you guys heard of anything like it?

>reading star-ranger.com
>Full Thrust Continuum Edition

This is pretty damn comprehensive for a fan supplement, I am impressed. Combines all the rules from More Thrust, the Fleet Books and the beta rules GZG put out on star-ranger, adds a shitload more stuff (rapid-fire short range lasers, long range precision lasers, tractor beams, gravity guns, various new missiles and fighters, gunboats, turreted and reconfigurable firing arcs, rules for different styles of hangar deck affecting your fighters, and most importantly for weebs like me actual functional rules for axial mega-weapons that aren't the FT 2e Nova Cannon/More Thrust Legally Distinct Wave Motion Gun.)

Plus is has a "Tech Level" chapter where you can total up all the different upgrades your fleet uses and work out a rough estimate of how advanced they are.

I'm in love.

Played my first game of ASoBaH yesterday. It was pretty fun, and I ended up winning despite my weird warband setup. In almost every other wargame I've played, I've leaned towards lower numbers of higher-cost models, and that "elite strike team" setup has never worked as well as it did last night.

Indeed, I know minis would be out of the question, hence why I'm asking for something a bit more abstract but also on a bigger scale. Hex and chit is fine on my book.

I liked The Andean Abyss from the COIN series. Sounds like it might be what you're looking for. Its 1990s columbia.

I think they did one on the 30 years war that looked neat too.

Check the /hwg/ and /bgg/ if you haven't, they'll have ideas and opinions too.
>>
>>54006093
Um, that wasn't even remotely the intention of the first KS. They've seen saying since that one they were gonna do another to get more plastics made. Itxs been known for over a year we'd get a second one to do PRDF and NuCoal plastics. Not aure where you're getting your info from on that.

>>54006232
Rules are pretty damn solid. Army builsing takes a unique twist, combat ia fairly straight forward and the motivations thing is a nice touch.

My only gripe is that it can be awful symbol heavy and most of them do the same thing.
>>
>>54004504

Same, anything by Daniel Mersey.

I might just pick up some of Foundry's models and use them for that.

I came into this thread to ask about Batman actually. Would here be the best place to post or would it be better to make a dedicated thread?
>>
>>54010886
It'd fit here. Honestly, the only negativity I've ever heard about the Batman game was the price per model.
>>
>>53992753
System is good but firm is known to be shit.
Added spider-man to their system just to not release anything except the initial.
Announcing 6 month later marvel with another release, push out some releases for 5 months. But very much in beta shape.
Then just stop releasing shit, but saying it it isn't canceled. 2 month release DC eith Marvel rule and a month later a pdf updating spidey and marvel.
Then about 3 weeks later throw Marvel and spidey out of the shop overnight.
Announced Harry Potter

Another points:
-Badly translated books
-Requires books to play, pushed out frequently
-official social platform bans freely
-bad communication

Personal nitpicks:
-Get Equiptment and spoiler for crews, never release them (freeze, origanized, Grodd,.....)
-Unfished crews but lets release our 9th batman/joker/harley.
-Tournament prize and Pre-order only rules
-Horrible store support
-no american store support
-powercreep in dc, making marvel even harder to play
>>
>>54010886
Honestly I have played the system since the PDF days and altjough I have >>54012432 complaints I like the system.
Two things I haven't mention is price and quality.
Price are pretty high and even gotten higher, luckily most crews run with between 6-9.
Sculpts are normally top-notch, there are some outliners (non-2 player set katana) but most are very nice looking.
Assembly is ok, just 2-4 models are a bitch (the other katana)
Casting used to have a some severe case of failure but they have gotten better with that, they also send out replacements but it just took a while.

Last point all metal
>>
>>54012432
>>54012517

Those complaints are pretty valid though, there's a lot of complaints I've seen, especially on the Facebook group, that are completely retarded. Store support isn't an issue for me locally (in Aus we have a few good stores) it's shitty suppliers instead (which fuck over my local for a few games, another of which is Malifaux). The books I disagree with a little bit as well, because they're supplements mainly and aren't entirely essential to play, and it's only really once a year they release a book.

Swamp Thing, Lobo, speedsters, Superman and now Amazons have all been used as examples of crying the sky is falling, they're all shifting the balance and unbalancing the Batman game, which is honestly bullshit. It's more of an argument that they want more of the same thug with baseball bat number 39, which just leads to redundancy and stagnation. The way KM have done the really powerful guys I find great, because the system is stacked against taking Superman and Batman as your crew for example, and in the objective game they're on a major back foot from the get go, which only gets worse as they take damage

/awg/ you are my island of peace.
>>
>>54012869
Yeah supplier is localy based (and should't be generalized) but in my area a direct-buy store is stopping too as the communication and pricing was shit.
Balancing I wouldn't say is an issue in the batman game, for exactly the reason your mentioned.
Only complaints is that a single character may experience powercreep with new releases (deadshot, nightwing, harley) but that are some sole cases.

Here's a question to keep things moving.

In games with freeform unit design and army composition, do you tend to enjoy trying to justify every decision you make with fluff and spending time agonising over every design to make sure it feels like unified faction?

I've been going nuts over Full Thrust of late and a lot of the fun is trying to come up with ship designs that feel both viable and interesting choices in-game and also like they're all part of a unified faction (rather than just "here's a gimmick repeated in three different sizes" or "here's a bunch of random units that synergise well but might as well be from different forces")

So for example my human faction is clearly split across model ranges as "pre-2142" and "post-2143" ship designs (2142-3 being the dates of the first war with a newly-discovered alien race whose technology and tactics meant current ship designs were not very useful)

Pre-42 ships have very basic weapons, generally in groups of small turrets and axial mounts, supported by torpedo launchers. The only "special" weapon is a laser cannon-armed ambush frigate that in-setting is described as not particularly good but cheap to build and good enough when there's an invasion fleet at your door.

Post-43 ships are the result of a large number of shipyards all vying for funding and a boom in new weapon designs based on alien technology, and so are mostly over-engineered but good at what they do.

With one exception. The Osiris. Nobody is quite sure how the Osiris won its funding bid because it's a bit shit. It's an AEGIS destroyer built to fight a race that doesn't use torpedoes or fighter craft in any great numbers that's supposed to simultaneously be a patrol leader, long-range artillery support ship and point defence bunker.

Captains claim the only ship the Osiris has any kind of tactical synergy with is a four-year-old battleship that was rolled out just as the invading aliens were proving that ships like it were useless.
>>
>>54021455
(cont.) I know a lot of Battletech players like the narrative aspect of having loads of different unit types and putting your faction loyalty ahead of taking actually good units (and thus the challenge of working out how exactly your faction won the battles it did in the fluff when its standard mechs might be fucking garbage).

And so I'm happy to design, buy and paint "trap" units like the Osiris because I'm more interested in the fiction of My Dudes than simply playing a numbers game and optimising my fleet.
>>
Could Antares players post their minis?
>>
>>54012869

Oh you can crossplay DC superhero minis and the batman game? Thought they were mostly separate with only a few crossovers.
>>
Can anyone recommend a good pulp skirmish game? I saw Congo mentioned ITT but it seems too historical for my preferences. I want to fight Boxer rebels who are secretly members of a secret triad society led by Fu Manchu, and so on.
>>
>>54022213
I've heard good things about:

In Her Majesty's Name, A Fistful of Kung Fu, Pulp Alley, 7TV

Ganesha have Flying Lead they market as suitable for pulp action, but this seems to be reliant on a sourcebook that isn't actually available so your mileage may vary.
>>
>>54022280
Cool, cool. I'll check those out, thanks! Probably starting with IHMN and Pulp Alley, the other titles seem to imply a focus not quite what I'm looking for.
>>
>>54022213
In her majesty's name would probably fit best.
Otherwise something I just found 7TV flif you really wanna be TV.
>>54021831
It honestly depends.
16 out of the 24 heroic dc models can be fielded in batman.
21 outt of the 31 evil dc models can be fielded in Batman, but it doesn't really mean that one can buy the same models and field them in both games (except for lexcorp to a lesser extend and amazons). In batman having goons is still very much required, and unlike the batman game having just deathstroke account for 50% of your list is not true for dc as he is only just 12% in dc.
>>
>>54022280
>>54022774
After checking these out a bit: does IHMN have good rules for stuff like gorillas and evil Chinamen? I really like Bob Murch's figures, if that helps you get an idea of the tone. I noticed neither of you mentioned his own ruleset, Rugged Adventures; I guess it's not great?

Alright, guy from up the thread further. Whipped this up real quick.

I also need help thinking of mechanics (not specifics but like "moves faster") to differentiate Dixie, New England, and Caracola from the other factions. These were places that I thought wouldn't go along with other factions but weren't really military powers or true extremists so nothing comes to my head.

>>54030071
I like it. Can't really help on tactics, but what's the reasoning behind making New England separate to the USA? Is it just in case people want to play the region but not the government? Or are they taking on Canadian support?

I guess Dixie could have a high morale and slightly higher-than average militia training, New England could have Canadian/British equipment, and Caracola could have some quantity of boat/amphibious capability?
>>
>>54030071
just a stupid fluff nitpick, cascadia should include the rest of Oregon and Washington as well as northern California. the area you have blocked out has less than 4 million people living in it. for reference that is approximately the population of Los Angeles. If anything Idaho and Montana shouldn't be in it and it could be a weird combination of a tech/hippy faction
>>

Well let's not get too hasty, what ship was it?
>>
>>54037105
This.

I plan to use it as a "final boss" for a campaign in Full Thrust Continuum, stats something like:

63 Hull, Lv2 Advanced Shields, Thrust Rating 2 Advanced Drives

5 Advanced Fire Control, 4 PDS

1 Fighter Bay (Multirole - Plasma/Pulse/Interceptor)

3x Phaser 3, 4x Phaser 1, 3x Gatling Battery

Phasers and Gatling Batteries are I think new, Phasers are combined Grasers/Needle Beams/Area PDS but if fired in alt fire modes need one FCS per turret, and Gatling Batteries get 6 dice at 12" but cost a fuckload of mass.

I'm trying my darnedest to make it fit. Here's my Schtick and it's kinda similar to the 1632 books.

I'm trying to build myself an Empire Army for Warhammer 9th age and I want to use historical models freely. I had to come up with a way to be able to mix ancient middle east spearmen, roman infantry, napoleonic fusiliers and cannons. How to do this? By narrowing ourselves to a single region over time.

The ancients can be whatever but I've painted the star of David on them so they're the subjects of David and Saul.
The Romans are there in their lorica segmentata armour which matches with the armour of the roman garrisons in the Jerusalem area during the first 2 centuries AD.
The french were there in their expedition in 1800 so regular line infantry does well there.
Somehow all these troops ended up somewhere unimportant, like the border princes or Albion where they eventually start making mischief.

Now we get to the nitty gritty. Since my generals model, Napoleon, is dressed in his Emperor clothes from after his departure from Egypt I can't just say everyone comes directly from Egypt unto the battlefield, something more must be done. But I figured since weapons, uniforms and armour was teleported through time, space and universes so also must the history books. This way Napoleon can look in the history book and replicate the clothes he wore when he became Emperor. This way I also can use the 'Old Guard' grenadiers cap which was not in use during the Egypt expedition.

These caps bring me to my most ahistorical unit. The War elephant from M:TW2. If you remember it's the elephant with the cannon on it's back. Theoretically similar to the idea of a steam tank with a mounted cannon, it's useable for me.

And who will be manning these elephants? Napoleons most trusted Old Guard of course. So I've placed three Grognards in the Howdah(well actually two since one is a corpse under the elephant). Since the french are more modern and knowledgable with the use of artillery they will be crewing the elephant instead of the Persians(?).

Only thing I'm currently stuck creatively on is wether I'll include a Hippogryph or not since I have one painted. I could claim that since they are in the Warhammer world they can be used but I'm wondering wether Napoleon would have seen them trained or just killed.

In either case, which historical figure would you like to see mounted on a Hyppogryph?

Have a bunch of recast spearmen, lots of wood elves and a box of Rivendell Knights, plus Glorfindel (ft and mtd), plus Gil-galad in need of some repairs...oh, and the old Thranduil as the new one looks gay as fuck. I'll need to finish a playable army for WotR as we want to play that mostly, wicked fun game. There's only the two of us who play here it as well, but we don't really give a fuck as we can amass large armies cheaply.

Also, maybe I'll get the Norba elves for Mirkwood and make some stats for them in WotR. Could be fun.

I've never really played any wargames before, I come from more of a ttrpg and tcg background, but I've been warming to the idea of buying a starter kit or a couple of factions for a game that I can play with a buddy. I have played a lot of FG. Sigilists are powerful wizard types with access to a lot of excellent spells (Push, Fog). My general advice is to make sure you have a few spells that are very easy to cast, keeping your apprentice in mind. Try to take one spell that helps you move around, one spell that gives some level of terrain or board manipulation (Mud, Fog, Crumble, Leap etc.)

Otherwise, DO NOT take FG as a serious competitive game. Don't try to fine-tune your wizard. The game simply isn't sharp enough mechanically to hold up to this kind of play and nobody is likely to be happy.

I also high recommend implementing GeekKen's alternative rules for the XP system and limiting turns per game.

Seems really posable but man... you're right.

Malifaux is another game I've looked into but the look and style of the game don't appeal to me as much. I might read further into the rules, though.

And guildball looks sorta neat, never heard of it before. Thank you for the recommendation!

I love the !Starblazers stuff, thanks for sharing. Also for future reference Oines' stuff looks just fine in WSF polished. I'll post a pic at some point. Pic related is the only thing I've gotten in FUD.

You can see the difference between FUD and WSF

Note, the fuzziness doesn't look bad in person, the camera really caught those details. Also these are before they offered polishing.

Thanks! I don't know if it's the printing, paint or lighting but the left ship in >>54065653 doesn't look like the detail panels are very well defined - is this the case?
doesn't seem to have

Yes, when I got it, it looked like one big blob, but it's also only an inch long. As long as you're not dealing with lots of tiny detail WSF work fine though.

I actually quite liked Relic Knights for a goofy wargame.

Oh, if you are going to get a bunch of stuff in FUD, contact the shop owner and ask if they can do bundle packs for you. This guy has some details.

Ah, that's one of the small ships, that makes sense.

I guess for a 4-6" centrepiece model like the battleships there would be more visible detail.

I've been looking into Guild Ball thanks to the other anon's recommendation and it looks pretty cool but Relic Knights still seems to be the one that appeals most to my aesthetic and mechanical interests. So it's nice to know that someone out there likes it. Goofy is definitely my sort of thing.

Turns out GW still makes metal figures.
Now do I surround him with Abrakhan guards or Mahud?

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it as a game that's particularly balanced or that well thought out, but it has it's charms - I like the deployment rules, for instance, and as terrible as people say the activation queue system is, it's not altogether terrible.

I don't know if there's some rules floating about on the internet for it to look over though.
>>
>>54069019
Corollary to this though - it's probably going to be a lot easier to find players for Guild Ball compared to Relic Knights. The only other person I knew locally who played it was my brother, and he's left. There's plenty of Guild Ball players though.

I definitely think there were some neat ideas in RK, though card mechanics were just worse than Malifauxs IMHO. But Ill also add that guild balls a cool game.
