How do you utilize epic sorcery? Is it more about elusive changes

there legends of both kinds, and the PCs may end up doing one or the other depending on what the player wants

You can obliterate cities, or even entire fiefdoms.

Problem is, holding that much magical energy in your body isn't very smart. You might explode, turn into a flesh gateway of something from beyond, or ascend into a higher level of existence in a fluctuating manner - as in, some parts of you will ascend to higher levels than others, and some parts of you might not even ascend.

So you need to use a ritual to channel that magical energy safely. And you better do the ritual properly, or things might get a bit loopy. Multiple mages cooperating is a smart idea.
