What's /tg/'s opinion on comically large weapons?
Personally, I think they're a hilarious character gimmick that can be badass if done right.

The character has to either be buff as hell or superhuman in some way, but otherwise it can be good fun.

Feels too anime for my tastes.

True of literally every single gimmick. Every single retarded trope in gaming can be, and has been, awesome when it's done correctly. The problem is the people who do it wrong.

Silly but fun provided you are into that sort of thing and it doesn't clash with whatever laws of reality your world has.

Not silly enough for my taste...
>>53979315
I think they're fun, but they rarely have a place in my games, considering my typical choice of tone.

that is actually an interesting duel there. Asymmetrical weapons creates different opportunities based on whether you or the enemy gets their front foot pulled into the crevasse.

Depends. Generally I don't like it but it looks neat for Amiri. Don't know why but in this specific example I don't find it extra-retarded-animu tier

Overused and completely burn out as a trope. I'd only allow in my games if there's a reason for it beyond "lulz man my char is soooo anime".
Dumb shit
They're best for dark/low fantasy games where you fight demons
As long as you stay away from the MMO aesthetic, you'll be good. For instance, a flaming giant sword is infinitely stupider than one that's just a hunk of iron on a stick

>Use butthueg weapon because enough base damage to break DR
Fuck the ini penalty, we have monsters to slay. And walls to break.
I fucking love huge silly weapons, but always treat them as being big fucking weapons. There's no point having huge weapon if you flick them around like shaving razors.
Still don't really care too much about the size of the of the wielder contra the weapon. Gnomes for instance remain my favorite race for warriors in WoW just for the way they just kind of throw the weapon at their opponents and hang on to it.

In the right context, over the top heroic settings, they're fucking awesome.
They're only annoying if someone tries to apply them in a setting where they're less fitting.

This. Everything can be done right, it's just a question of how hard that is to achieve.
