I have a Hazezon Tamar deck that essentially uses Thromok and Brion Stoutarm as partner commanders in the 99.

I like to get a fuckload of tokens then sac them to devour dudes, then fling them with brion. It's certainly not my strongest deck, but it's pretty fun.

Dark Ritual is a good card, but it isn't "the best card in magic". Consider that with sol ring and mana crypt (another card that should be banned), I can lay out a huge mana advantage, and then cast a wheel effect on turn 1. For me, it's definitely the Sieges. I've got at least two copies of each one, and while they aren't all in decks, I generally throw them in so long as there's even a tiny reason to do so. Palace Siege is probably my favorite of the cycle and I use it in just about everything I have in black.

Obzedat can work well by playing a wealth of highimpact threats like Divinity of Pride, Blood Baron of Vizkopa, Sun and Grave Titan, Noxious Gearhulk, etc. alongside powerful recursion like Phyrexian Reclamation.
Daxos pillowfort chokes your opponent's options while building up to swarming the board with cheap, beefy tokens, and can lead into silly combos with Grim Guardian you can execute from behind the safety of your enchantments.

There a very few 'staples' that I'd argue need to be in every deck, Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares are certainly two of them. It's a one mana catch-all removal spell against any targetable creature, and with Arcane Lighthouse existing in the format you can get around Shroud/Hexproof too. Literally a staple, there is no reasonable suggestion as to why not to other than aruging for the sake of it.

How mad were people that owned original Sol Rings when Wizards started reprinting the card in every single commander set? It used to be a expensive, highly sought after card and now you can buy them for 30 cents.
