I'd say Psionics/SoP. i have a fondness for point based Magic systems. it just captures what i feel "Mgaic" is better than whatever Vancian Magic can throw at the world.

When are we getting Ensoulment story #4?
>>
Alright, reposting.

One of my players wants to open a magic shop.
After reading the downtime rules my mind almost exploded, so i wrote down some lines for him.

>8.000g for a small shop, 16.000 for a medium, 30.000 for a big one
>You're a divine caster, so you can only create items with a divine spell needed as component
>I'll let you hire 1 manager and 2 workers (for a small shop), i'll write down some basic stats for them. Like... One manager candidate has some intimidate and diplomacy, the other bluff and diplomacy, the last has less diplomacy but high charisma
>50g/day for salaries
>If you're away for quests and cant cast the spells needed for the item, you'll have to provide scrolls

Yes or no?
>>
>>53912132
I think WoP is pretty sweet. I enjoy translating wordspells into various fantasy languages to give a cool feel to my characters.
>>
>>53912378
Looks pretty good to me, anon.
>>
>>53912378
How does that net profit?
>>
>>53912132
>What's your favourite form of magic, 1pp or 3pp?
Definitely spheres. If I was forced to go with something Vancian, I'd want to do something like the Beguiler with very focused spell lists to keep power levels reasonable.

>Fluff
Occult classes have the best fluff for how its classes get their magic, in my opinion. Occultist, Spiritualist, and Medium are pretty fun in my books

>Mechanically
In no particular order, SoP for nerfing casters and being a specialist, Psionics for having more fiddly bits and power points being a lot easier to understand for a new player (but some of the classes being rather shit), the supernatural disciplines from Path of War ("guys I'm TOTALLY an Evocation wizard okay, I just have to use this sword as my arcane focus and my magic works best when I hit people with it") and then, no lie, Kineticist wild talents and burn, for being so fiddly. Vancian has a place but its just plain not as fun as the others

And it's a feedback loop too: the fact the chat is dominated by the loud, stupid or bitter members means everyone else wants to talk there even less.

The only one I've looked at is the Fighter one, and honestly it's pretty solid for what it tries to do from my understanding of it. It essentially just grants noncombat options to fighters and the ability to pick up certain skills for a relatively small investment.

That one, at least, appears to be worthwhile. But, well, I'm not very balance conscious, so I don't know if I'm actually right or not.

>>53913709
No, the GodDESS of Pioneering and Exploration is the divine matriarch of The Swarm before her song was lost to the chittering Evil of their patriarchy. She was silenced for centuries until the Shirreen heard her sonata once more.

Abadar might not even be a God anymore, he's CEO of AbadarCorp (should've called it Vault Tech) and canonically a massive asshole now.

No, the "good" people left because there was like, 2 or 3 people that just spent all day spamming the chat and wouldn't let anyone else get a work in edgewise, and everyone that went to the one Broodie made did so because they were interested in being able to post uncensored tits.

About to run RotR again, last session took only the first half of the festival, leaving me with the second half to do today. My players seem to be enjoying the dumb games and 'prizes' I've been giving out, so I need more. I've had some kind of horse riding event and possibly crossbow shooting at targets as well as CHILDREN'S CARD GAMES (with some cute but shitty illusions attatched to the cards) suggested, but I want to know what you've used in your games with success. Carnival/festival games to be exact, and with a tilt more towards the folksy.
>>
>>53913735
They provide out-of-combat options to those classes and give them more flexibility and a few cool features, so yes, they do. It doesn't make them caster tier at all, but it does make them less boring as shit to play. Combat is still really a chore though despite the options.

>>53913758

/PGG/! I need advice--what's something a character could believably bake in about an afternoon, with only minimal resources?

Assume there's the possibility of making your own oven, but only a few ingredients and it'll be mostly made from stuff you salvage out of your usual rations.

Others included a portable version of the hagfish challenge sponsored by the Hagfish, pie eating contest while jumping hurdles, carrying a woman and trying to recite Kurgess' paladin code (might've been the paladin of Kurgess in the party as the sole participant without it being an official event, but it was fun to watch) and goblin tossing.......although the last one might've come after the official festivities.

Considering there are suppose to be vast empires (i.e. the Vesk) that exist outside of the Pact Worlds at least somewhere someone has decided to either colonize a planet or build a moon sized hab where all they do is devote themselves to farming and rustic living.

I could to totally see a world where Horizon Dawn is a thing and you have techno barbarian people hunting animals with bows and arrows made of high tech materials and wearing combinations of furs and modern body armor.

I've got some startling facts about this which you anons might find enlightening.

NASA aren't dumb. Space agencies aren't dumb. When colonization becomes a thing, you think anyone who pays for a ticket are going to get a seat? No. No. Aidan the 23 year old queer art student isn't getting a seat, neither is Stacy the 33 year old woman without any kids or marriage prospects. John and Samantha from North Dakota who love each other and want a dozen babies are getting on. Achmed and his five Swedish wives is getting on. Fuckin' Lee is getting on because he's got a doctorate in Engineering.

The meek shall inherit the Earth. The strong shall inherit the Stars.

>>
>>53914309
Opportunity cost isn't an issue, and has not been an issue since the 50s. It's dirt-cheap for some people to have children, but the more educated you become and the more access you get to things like social services or entertainment the less likely you'll have children.

The fabulously wealthy would see a child as a drop in the bucket financially, yet most of them only have one kid before moaning about the effort, driving the kid around in a massive SUV, and then spend the rest of their money on African baby birds with their oversized heads hanging open for gimmedats.

The burden of raising a child has become a social and cultural issue more than financial, and that's something even the wealthiest or well-off will carry with them.

John and Achmed are irrelevant because at the frontier, you'll have children anyway. Lack of children isn't some sort of devilish soft western ploy, it's simple economics.
>>
>>53914567
No, they really won't. They're not going to take people who are infertile, but if your only marketable skills are the desire to have lots of kids then you're not getting on until you pay your own way.

It's too easy to find people with the required skill who can also have kids.

A functional womb or penis doesn't mean you're going to use it. John and Samantha might not be qualified on the grounds of being inadequately educated, but you're still going to aim for people who can produce a growing population.

I must remind you that growing means 3+ children, a number considered extravagantly high to the average Westerner. They'll need to screen for that shit.

Make her daemon spawn. Rather than the normal tiefling shit (red skin, horns, tail) try giving her traits normally associated with daemons (gray or ashen skin, a sickly complexion, a ruinous cough despite being perfectly healthy, black sclera around pale irises)

if she has a cute personality, but looks plague-ridden, you have a solid mix of creepy and cute.
>>
>>53914647
Odd number and style of eyes, internal mandables that reach out when she eats, laughs, or otherwise emotes, Some manner of wierd assymetry of physical features, lke scale patches or chitin plates, lack of a normal nose, mishapen ears, snaggleteeth.

Any of these kinds of traits and potentially more can make her creepy and revolting. However, as long as she has the plucky, chipper, can-do attitude she'll be cute.

Really, assymetry and mutations warping the face are usually a strong way to start. That or exagerrated features like a mouth that opens all the way to the jaw

Motherless are perfect for stapling bullshit creepy mutations on

To get a little cheesy, but the Winter Soldier was onto something when they talked about an algorithm that predicts your future behavior through studying the past. Determining who would love to have a dozen children and who will only have one isn't a difficult thing, and maybe they'll set up incentives to encourage births (whether that means less work or bigger living quarters)

Alternatively, the stars are colonized by Mormons, Muslims and India.

Motherless are the most horrific of the Tieflings, so you can really go out there with her.

Small, vestigial wings made out of mycelium and skin. Prehensile nipples or, alternatively, nipples with tongues and small teeth. See-through skin revealing every disgusting, throbbing vein and muscle. Her blood isn't red, it's a pale white ichor. She's got octopus eyes and her teeth are tiny tentacles with the texture of sandpaper.

Just make her cute and nice. Creepy is a personality trait. Creepy is when she cuddles up too close to someone she doesn't know, or when she seems to see things nobody else sees.
>>
>>53915013
>It's like people yelling at fatties who insist they're beautiful. A Landwhale can wear a bikini for all I care, I'm still not going to fuck her or say she's cute.

I do hate fat people who call themselves beautiful, but not because they are vain and can't work out because of laziness, but because I consider life sacred and being fat is inviting all kinds of health issues. The people who call themselves beautiful and healthy despite being fat are just as bad as wafer thin models and WENEEDMOREGAAINZZZ people who place their vanity or laziness above their health, becoming poor role models and possible leading to crippling health issues or straight up death.
>>
>>53915013

See the thing is. I acknowledge it'd be healthier if I dropped some weight. However I see people who are lighter than me and less fit from an aerobic exercise, strength, and endurance perspective. Weight is not the end all of fitness but is a big factor. What I don't like is people who are less fit than me trying to call me out because of one aspect of my health. Even then, all I really want is to be left alone. I don't parade myself around as some paragon of fitness. I just want people to not pester me about my habits that don't impact them.

That and shit man I probably have better numbers than them on blood pressure, cholesterol, resting heart rate, and more. If you beat me in all these stats then sure, call me out about it, I probably won't listen because fuck it's my life, but go ahead.

They've hurt those close to them too many times to let people really get close anymore, so they build up a wall around their heart and adopt the persona of an apathetic assassin because it hurts less- for them, and for everybody else.

And I want to somebody like a monk or a paladin that's immune to poison see through their walls, break through their walls, take them outside their walls. Somebody they can hold and kiss without fear, somebody who will never desert them or throw away their fragile heart. Somebody who can lead them back into the light with compassion and love.

It'll never happen but it's cool.

Grimur Nordheim, the Fiend Eater

Raging Cannibal True Primitive Barbarian VMC Sorcerer (Abyssal Bloodline).

Upholds archaic cultural traditions as an exorcist. He hunts downs and physically devouring fiendish threats before they can hurt what ever population they are near. Going down the barbarian spell sunder/superstition/etc. so he is naturally dangerous to be around for anything magical. Grabbing lesser fiend totem as well. From an outside perspective he is a vagrant and wanderer, coming to town and flashing holy symbols before staying on the floor of the local inn. Seeks out rumors of fiendish activity and the like, and those who coerce with fiends. Seeks them out and eats them (the assumption is they can not escape the stomach of their devourer). He's happy and jolly, loved kids, and an accomplished singer.

Iirc the party was a Ulfen Warder, a Huldra Witch, a Kitsune Beguiler, an ulfenboo Chelaxian Rogue/Fighter thing, and a Skinwalker Viking Fighter/Myrmidon that used a throwing shield. The party got as far as raiding some tombs in Osirion and then selling the loot in Cheliax before schedules screwed things up.

>. I hope I can live up to it!
Don't worry about it too much. The old Linnorm game can be considered the Proto-Meme game, as it featured a Huldra, a Witchwolf, and a Kitsune, and was silly and lewd as all get out, with Fluffy Tail getting touched everywhere.

Actually, wasn't there a scene where everyone got wrapped and cuddled in the Kitsune's tails or something?

>>53916197
>pretend to be confident
How exactly is this not fumbling spaghetti? Pretending to be confident feels like it's just going to be obvious to everyone involved.
>>
>>53916348
In person it's usually easy to see through fake confidence, but there's really not much of a difference between faking it and playing it when roleplaying. If your character talks big, they'll look big. No one sees your stuttering unless you want them to.
>>
What are some common flowers that would grow in northern Avistan?
>>
>>53916380
Foxglove, honeysuckle, lily of the valley
>>
>>53916165

Relax and remember this: nothing matters.

Besides that, do not mutter or stutter. If you have to speak slowly, do it, but make sure you get every word across without becoming tongue-tied or going 'uh uhm uuhh' every other word. In fact, its better to say nothing and have breaks between what you are saying then to stutter.

Finally, make a cheat sheet for yourself by writing down lots of witty idioms, phrases and sayings that you think your character would use- go research existing ones if you can't think of any, there are tons of famous quotes and sayings to work off of. Practice them, preferably in a mirror. Watch 101 (voice) acting videos on YT. Keep this with you at all times during the game and in a worst case scenario, you can fall back on it.

Everyone said Churchill was an amazing speaker but he self-professed that he was terrible at it and would study clever things to say before-hand when caught off guard by an ad lib situation.

>>

It's "effective" in the sense that the amount of versatility allowed with the feat swapping you can get makes it able to do a bunch of different crazy things.

Actually, the Brawler ARCHETYPE for Fighters is a really nice unarmed deal.

Its gets a good FLAT damage boost, and you can still pick up the damage die scaling via something like the Ascetic Style line if you want.

It's pretty good at sticking to people and making things unpleasant for them.

It's weird but there seems to be no limitation on shields.

Strength of Arms (Ex)

At 1st level, a landsknecht learns to deliver maximum power with his one-handed weapon. As long as the landsknecht only attacks with a single weapon wielded in one hand during a round, he adds 1-1/2 times his Strength modifier to damage, as if he was wielding the weapon in two hands.

Scarlet Throne's no-shield requirement is actually thrown out the window when you use Scarlet Throne Style.

Scarlet Throne maneuvers require either one hand, or one weapon in both hands. Scarlet Throne Style treats you as two-handed for the purpose of abilities or feats.

Ergo, sword and shield ST user.

from what we know, it's:

3d6 damage, x3 crit, two-handed exotic weapon, costs 65 gold, and requires 19 strength to wield without taking a -2 penalty for swinging about a massive hunk of sharp metal.

If you can handle the feat and stat requirement, I imagine it'd make a great weapon for a ZS warder.

I personally recommend the Hunter class.

Seriously, having an animal companion with the scent ability to help you track is invaluable, it has the skill points it needs to effectively cover the necessary bounty hunting skills (diplomacy for gather info, Heal to examine corpses, survival to track, perception to watch your surroundings, that sort of thing), and it's an effective combatant with a shocking array of both martial and spellcasting options.

I think it was a few lesser things that got it decried as shitty. It's 20 bp, so 'reeeee!' reactions right off the hop. The heaviest casters are barred or nerfed. The setting is heavily custom and unknown, and the proposed campaign pitch is dicey unless the GM is quite good. There's no lewd permitted, which can work, but coupled with the campaign pitch sounds like the overall flavor might be too heavily edgynofunallowed.
>>
>>53917715
>>53917762

Looks like its 25 bp for martials, basic stuff everywhere else. VMC is allowed. The no PoW sucks, but then, no fullcaster arcane or psionics. Lots of obvious broken stuff banned. Races get a free toughness or +2 to another attribute sounds cool and makes up for the wonky 20 bp for non-martials. Gestalt prestige could be real fun and powerful if done right.

All the good 1pp tier 3's and so on are allowed. I'm not seeing too much of an issue, its far more generous than your usual rando PF game.

The reason I haven't applied is theme. I don't really have any desire to get invested in a campaign that looks to be both grueling and depressing. I can deal with a challenge, and I can deal with bad things happening, but it looks like the GM is going for something pretty specific that I don't see a fun side to.
