Bomber Harris as Rider, best idea or best idea? Thousand-Bomber Raid and Burning of Dresden as NPs.

I need a "the building is on fire and it's entirely my fault"-themed servant, and he's the only one that comes to mind.

Hard to say, Link's kind of short in BotW. But comparing other adult males to them would suggest Gerudo are on average at least six feel tall, probably taller. As for if you could be a male Gerudo in the jump, that's up to whoever's making it, but I don't see why not. It's not like each Ganondorf is the child of the last one, male Gerudo are just a naturally-occuring thing that happens every so often when a Gerudo woman gets pregnant from a man of another race. And since Calamity Ganon has detached itself from Ganondorf's soul to be an independent existence in BotW, the slot's free for someone else to occupy it.

query. why is the price for half-toon in "generic cartoon toon world" so much? i would think a price of 400 or 500 cp would work better, not double toon's price.
i took the origin for the flavor but only purchased eraser immunity which only costs if un-discounted 100 cp.

Nice.

Any chance of a better CP->cr conversion (like 50 CP for 100 Scr) or upping the ship credits to 1,000 Ship Credits per ship?

A chain without it is in line with how Jumpchain originally worked, before alt-forms became common enough to be assumed to be available in every jump.
Most alt-forms are basically free, anyway (see: most race options), so it's not like you're being forced to throw CP away.
Some jumps explicitly state that you can assume any alternate forms acquired in the jump (see: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon), and this Restriction doesn't make those not work.
Also, you could always pick up a powerful form by spending CP, and then... just not pick a new form during your following jumps, retaining it for as long as you wanted.
>>
>>53790552
Is it at least good-quality salt?

Dodge, Dip, Duck, Dive, Dodge from Dodgeball is pretty good. Greater Evasion from Elona has a neat effect, in that it gets you a second opportunity. Precog+Teleportation in Marvel Comics is probably the best, though I'd imagine it would get disorienting with time.

>>

It depends.

If you can make them angry, then it'll work really well because it's funny when someone edgy starts raging.

If they just stoically brush it off, then it'll be way less effective.

War, War never changes… ok I had to say it so I just wanted to get that out of the way. So having my powers greatly weakened kind of sucked but It’s not a situation I was unfamiliar with.

I found myself in vault 101… That was not fun. The overseer was an ass and I couldn’t bring out my companions. I was James Assistant. James was a cool guy. He at least kept me company. I was like a cool big sis to his daughter and Amata. Or I tried to be there was something off about the lone wanderer. I just got a real bad feeling from her.

So when all hell broke lose I took the opportunity to run. I had already programmed proper medical skills in to the mr. Handy to serve as my replacement.

So I left with the lone wanderer for a while, we hit megaton and then she took the offer to blow up megaton and I decided it was probably best to just leave her be. We had a few drinks I bid her a fond farewell in finding her dad. I gave her a few items to help her out because I am not a monster… then she tried to shoot me in the back. I feigned death for a moment as she approached to loot me and then I kicked the legs out from her and disarmed her.

She was surprised I was still alive but blamed me for leaving her. I tossed her a sack of caps and told her not to appear before me again, that the only reason I was alive was because of her father.

(to be continued)

I might make the backgrounds free, but I like the ship credit conversion the way it is now. I think I'd have to see some more builds before I decide.

>>53790603
Yes! It even says so in the description for Quad Laser Cannon Turret.

>>53790604
You can, just take Droid in OT and get Force Sensitivity from a different jump.
>>
>>53790614
I thought that got retconned, and midichlorians were just present in people who were force-sensitive, as opposed to causing it?

I don't keep up with this stuff.
>>
>>53790628
I didn’t bother telling her I had tempered with the detonator so she wouldn’t be able to detonate Megaton or that I had warned the Sharif on our way out if she ever came back.

Next I headed for the Brotherhood of Steel I managed to hook up with them and get Liberty Prime up and functional as I learned how to rebuild it and program it.

A few of my companions, Sans being prominent among them really had a problem with the Xenophobia. He almost started a fight with a few of them because he made them look really stupid. Feeling my time with them was coming to an end we decided collectively to set out… right as the Lon Wanderer and a small group of scientists arrived

She tried to blame me because of her father’s death. I tried to tell her I was sorry to hear about her father’s death but she said something rude to me and walked on. I half expected her to take another shot at me.

I managed from there to find and take over a space ship full of hostile aliens. From there I went on to New Vegas. Where I helped the courier through his travels. Thankfully he was much nicer and we got along much better. I helped him bring down Caesar’s Legion and win the Damn for the NCR. I managed to sneak in to the big empty to gain the tech from there using my stolen space ship. I made friends with Dr. Mobius and the other floating brains.

>I mainly just like Venom's characterization and story more. Venom and Brock are tragic characters while Carnage and Kasady are just outright villains. There are also the times when Venom has been more-or-less redeemed or used for good. And I just like black more than red.

>Not knowing that Cassidy and Carnage became good guys and died saving everyone
>Not knowing that Toxin ascended to heaven and became an Angel

But I do Agree with you on the characterization though, And since all the other Symbiotes and their hosts are dead it doesn't look like they ever will. But at least Carnage died at peace with her Husbando and they will get to see toxin in the next life and are sparred from this fate of Marvel. I also agree with you about the color

If the force can be channeled through crystals, why can't it be challenged through Droids? Their circuits are going to be copper/gold and silicon, both of which can be crystalline in form, though it's more that you shouldn't need to be in crystal form if inorganic material can channel it regardless.

They had Eddie kill off most of the other symbiotes when he was Anti-Venom for some reason, So hybrid and the like are dead and that was years ago, Also I think the side kick is still alive, But Toxin turned into a Angel and Cassidy and Carnage Died a few chapters ago in a big explosion saving everyone and having a statue built in their honor

Seriously though. The force can be channeled through crystals because the crystals are legit made with or infused with Force energy. I don't have to deal with it at all, actually. The Faceless Coordinator told me once that everyone reacts to the new memories differently. My way of "integrating" was to turn my memory into a "warehouse" of "boxes". Each box contains some memories, bits of personality, access to powers/perks, and the like from the new universe. Sometimes the boxes are numerous and detailed, so with them all open I can see the entirety of who I was supposed to be up until that point.

Mostly the memory and personality boxes are few and far between. Which is for the best because most backstories are relatively unpleasant. So many abusive parents. But I can "open" and "close" the boxes as needed. I always have a general idea what is in each box, but for specifics I have to open them. At this point it's mostly become an automatic response, boxes opening and closing as I need to access relevant chunks of data or certain powers.

So, short version, I don't have to worry about it because during the transition from normal person to Jumper, my mind figured out a way to parse the extra information without letting it affect my core personality.

I feel like I phrased the question badly. Arturia can be forced into someone's body and turn that person into a demiservant.

The vast majority of the time I'm going Drop-In and taking my role of Destroyer of Worlds, Sorcerer Supreme, and Seeker of Yarn very seriously, so I tend to become a recluse in short order.

With backgrounds, though? Half the time they don't care what I do at all (being a Magus in Fate, for instance) and I don't really care back in turn. However, if I'm in a more mundane background, I make some effort to stay 'in-character' around people I know. I still talk to them, listen to their problems, and make an effort to remember birthdays while balancing that with my companions. Not as easy as it sounds, I promise.

I guess I never stopped seeing it as 'reincarnation' - no life is more or less valid than another, and 'I' am a collection of identities from a cross those many worlds. Everything I am, from Cat Wizard to Decade to just 'Anon' are all part of my identity.

I just wish I wasn't so soft-hearted about it. I'd probably be in a lot less trouble.

Literally the only TRULY new trick was playing with the Kaleidoscope, and I effectively have infinite energy on tap already so aside from some very interesting tricks it won't make a difference, and those interesting tricks won't matter if I'm fighting myself, only a multidimensional entity. As far as the difference in experience... I had 350+ jumps and ninety-six thousand, four hundred years under my belt at the start of the jump. I truly do not think that an extra few decades is going to make a massive difference unless I figure out some new exploit I don't have yet - plus there was the mutual nerfing from Counter Hero to keep things down anyway.

The biggest danger would have been if he engaged me directly with the other servants, but that did not happen, according to the dice. Otherwise I would have been in for a much rougher battle.

Ah, okay.

For the most part, my backgrounds tend to build in few attachments. My friends are generally my Companions that I'm importing and my family is either nonexistent or just uncaring for one reason or another. But I have had my fair share of trouble dealing with it at times.

In Ranma 1/2 I was a brother due to that one Drawback. This was fairly early, so I blamed my personality changes on a few too many blows to the head. The excuse was accepted so easily that I was really worried just how bad that trip to China was.

In Hellsing I was working for the Hellsing Organization as a guard before Alucard changed me. My new personality was put down to the transformation and the colleagues inside were willing to put up with it, simply because now there was a vampire around who would actually follow Integra's orders.

Those are the only two notable examples. The few others are not very interesting. By then I had hit Forgotten Realms and solved the rest of my inconveniences with memory alteration spells. Which I'm not fond of, but it really is the easiest solution sometimes.

My mom in FLCL make THE BEST chocolate chip cookies though.

Most of the investment I've made in physical appearance was all the way back in body mod.

Power, sure. But, in settings where the power is to be expected, I just tend to pass it off as the unlocking of hidden talents, magical puberty, that kind of thing.

Sometimes, why bother? if no one else has magic, and I don't want them to know i have magic, then how are they going to know I'm that powerful? If they DO have magic, well, bow before me and my giant mana pool.

and, to some degree, thanks to one interpretation of "cosmic fact" certain things about me are constants, adapted to localities.

I'm pretty happy with who I am, I'm jumping for power, adventure and lust. I don't change all that much from background to background.

My 'warship' sucks ass, and will need some retrofitting with out of jump knowledge to be effective at all. If is mainly here as a mobile base for various bounty hunting mission to operate from.

About this line in the starships section
>(If you don't already know how to pilot a starship you do now.)
Could you turn this into a free perk that included more than piloting?
>Ships Master[Free]
>Keeping a starship running takes a lot on know-how. Not just how to pilot it, but how to man the weapon systems, perform routine maintenance, diagnose problems & perform emergency repairs, even fabricate new parts or jury rig a temporary solution when you break down stranded on some world far from civilization. And know how to pay docking fees, deal with inspectors, etc.
Well don't panic! you have all that all and more. All necessary knowledge & skills to keep your ship shipshape comes included with it. And since running a starship is a multiperson affair, this is free to you and all companions no matter who bought the starship.
This only applies to systems as they are at the start of the jump. While retrofits and new systems are certainly allowed, you will need to gain any new skills needed the old fashioned way.

In addition, similar skills are given for any CP vehicle, animal, droid or piece of equipment gotten in the jump, but only for those who bought it.

>Ygritte(Pawn)
>Jadeite(Pawn)
>Nephrite(Pawn)

>Cargo Bay Door

>Escape Pods
Surprisingly only a few of the freighters and transports I researched had some of these things, however that could be a case of the writers simply not explaining whether or the ship was equipped with escape pods, a kitchen, etc.

>Intercom
This could be free now that I think about it. Although I only remember it being used on larger ships.

>Training Room
It's supposed to be a really high-end training area. Someplace you could constantly spawn new enemies and replay old fights without fear of dying like a survival/challenge arena in a videogame.

>Droid Crew Members
I could do that.

As for the droid bonus history, some of the major things that are supposed to make it worthwhile are your new body that doesn't age, the fact that you can be repaired from severe damage, how you no longer require food, air, etc, and your ability to interface with other machines.

But at the same time, when Crouch polyjuiced himself as Moody, the physical deformities (missing leg, missing eye, broken nose, scars) carried over.
>>
>>53793404

>>
I have a question about the Gundam jumps. If you import a mecha does it gain the same air and space capabilities of a Gundam (Like the ability to fly)?
>>
>>53790554
>Also, you could always pick up a powerful form by spending CP, and then... just not pick a new form during your following jumps, retaining it for as long as you wanted.
Not how it works unless you choose Drop In every time. Because many setting origins will make you human, because everyone in the setting is human, and that is your backstory now. If you have a non drop in background where there are no non humans, it does not matter if your last jump was martin, you will be starting as human because everyone in the setting is human, and being human is part of your backstory.

So by charging to change into an Alt Form you paid CP for, you are charging to carry over CP purchases to later jumps, when that was there from the beginning.
CP items are not left behind by default, and buying a new CP weapon does not make you give up a prior CP weapon.
CP perks also carry over form jump to jump, and are not written over by later perks.
Races and abilities from races need to carry over by default to match every other CP purchase.
And altforms are now some new thing. They are Quicksilver there at the beginning stuff.

You CANNOT charge for Alt-Form Armiore, because the lack of Alt-Form Armiore is not a neutral situation, buy in fact the Form Locked restriction

>supposed to make it worthwhile are your new body that doesn't age
Yoda is like 700 years old, and old age in not really an issue with jumpers at all, with all the aging resets, and the many many ways to extend your age.

>the fact that you can be repaired from severe damage
Droid bodies don't heal in their own either, and repairing is more expensive (in part costs) than healing.

>how you no longer require food, air, etc
you do require power now.

>your ability to interface with other machines.
The computer interface arm is not free, but costs 200 CP, and is only discounted to the Astromech
Also, that interface 'ability' comes with the down side that other people can use that interface to mind rape you by reprogramming, downloading your memories, or wiping your mind.

The benefits listed just seem Meh to me. And the last part I mentioned is not so much 'meh' as 'Oh, crap'. You really should let the Droid history cover General Grevious & Darth Vader style cyborgs, because I have seen one build that chose being a droid over being a force user.

Also a request here about the equipment offered in the jump needing more than just piloting knowledge.

They fabricated them based on their knowledge of the histories of the dead members, their own memories of them, and fine tuned them with Bonesaws shard research and craniums psychs knowledge about what would recreate the real members triggers.

Honestly? During the beginning of my chain I went drop in for some time because I was absolutely terrified of being subsumed by new memories. That kind of situation freaked me out immensely.

It was only after I'd taken some perks that reinforced my "core self" and had accumulated more than a century of memories that I felt comfortable taking a background that came with memories.

Even then, I still avoid any background that comes with more than 40 years of memories.

When I do go for a background that comes with a life and memories I, and this is going to sound really bad, fake my death within a few hours of landing.

There's no way I'd be able to look at the friends and family my origin had without feeling immense amounts of guilt. The person they'd known is effectively dead, or so far changed they might as well be. I couldn't handle pretending to be the person they remember, it'd be one big lie.

A clean break is best for all those involved.
>>
>>53793946
Why do you want other peoples' Shard powers anyway? They're, at best, comparable to those you can find in standard cape-shit, except they have absolutely massive infrastructure requirements... But you want to get rid of those, which is pretty much the only thing that sets them apart. I guess I just don't get it.
>>
>>53794009
Because they're pretty strong and I like to do what I can to maximize what I can get out of any given setting? It's like, why wouldn't I try to collect as many powers as I can before I go?

>Surprisingly only a few of the freighters and transports I researched had some of these things, however that could be a case of the writers simply not explaining whether or the ship was equipped with escape pods, a kitchen, etc.
Maybe so, but any ship that did more than day trips would have some food preparation area for heating prepackaged, prepared meals.

And unless it is a incidental cargo space just for crew and a few passengers, you need a way to get cargo in and out in a quick and efficient manner, that means a cargo bay door, hatch, elevator serving each place you store bulk cargo,

And some ships did skip on escape pods. Like the Titanic.

When Bonesaw cloned all those people, she had to recreate a facsimile of their memories and respective trigger events too. Both the cloning and memory stuff were based on things she stole from Blasto and Cranium.

Some of the Manton clones ended up having a male Siberian projection as a result of her fudging it. Not that it seemed to affect their performance.
All the Harbinger clones end up acting like tools compared to the real Number Man, because everybody bought his act of being reckless and chaotic.
On the other end of the spectrum, Grey Boy came out picture perfect, because his brain had been scanned and stored on the Shard itself, and it picked up right where it left off.
>>
>>53794053
Because then you'd just get the tumor, which wouldn't follow you between settings, not unless you could fit it in your warehouse. Shards are objects, not actual powers, that means you can't take them with you even if you can steal them. That's why I'm asking how to make them into actual powers instead of just hypertech.

No. Some Gundams were specifically made for land based fights and didn't have the necessary equipment to fight in space like the L-type or the EZ-8. Some Gundams were so bad in space they needed overhauls just to break even, like GP-01. Some Gundams were space only and were never meant to fight in atmosphere, like GP-03D, Deep Striker Sentinel.

>a huge amount of brain extruded into an alternate dimension
Part of their brain is set up as a new lobe by the Shard, which as far as anyone besides Cauldron knows, sends signals to nowhere and receives signals from nowhere.
It's different in size, shape, and location for every Parahuman, because every Parahuman power is different.

There's also two different portions: the Corona, which sort of controls the passive parts, and the Gemma, which controls the conscious part of the powers.
The former keeps a pyrokinetic from burning to death, and the latter lets them shoot flames out of their ass, or whatever.

Also the younger you trigger, the bigger it tends to be.
And it can grown larger as you grow older and learn more about controlling it.
All of which makes it easier for the Shard to influence you.

As a side note, later generations tend to trigger younger and younger.
There was a mentioning of a 7 or 8 year old third generation trigger in… Canada, I think.
Theo didn't trigger till 14 despite being third generation, but I think he was kind of sheltered.

>but any ship that did more than day trips would have some food preparation area for heating prepackaged, prepared meals.
Keep in mind that it only takes a few days or hours to travel from one end of the galaxy to the other, so it's not unimaginable that most crews would simply choose to get fresh food on planet in between trips. Also from what I remember prepackaged foods don't need much to be heated or prepared. The Millennium Falcon and the Ebon Hawk both lacked galleys and their crews often embarked on long trips.

>And unless it is a incidental cargo space just for crew and a few passengers, you need a way to get cargo in and out in a quick and efficient manner, that means a cargo bay door, hatch, elevator serving each place you store bulk cargo,
I think another reason I skipped on making this free is because not everyone is going to dedicate their ship to hauling cargo, or even carry large items. So It just seemed like something people would be ok with paying for or installing later if they really wanted it.

>>53794165
It depends on the timeline. You see flight capabilities be more common in the AU side-stories as opposed to the main Universal Century timeline that the majority Gundam stories take place in. Like, everything in 00 can fly, except for the shittiest, clunkiest grunt mobile suits. You get a lot of flight in Gundam SEED, too, eventually everything but dedicated aquatic suits can fly. Wing has dedicated flight-capable suits, but they're the exception and not that great. AGE has flight capability on the Vagan side but only one or two Federation suits that can do it. G Gundam has practically no sustained flight capability. And UC has poor quality flight capable mobile suits as early as the One Year War, but they don't become actually good for another fifteen years and don't become common for another fifty after that. Of course, this is all discounting transformable mobile suits, it's relatively common for mobile suits to be able to turn into flying machines (I say flying machines and not planes because some of them just look bizarre). But you'd need to buy a special feature for those.

>>
>>53794420
I'm going by the PRT threat ratings, which don't seem to consider the high end of the scale to be that dangerous. Like, Brute 9+ is just "hit it with artillery fire". Which, yeah, sounds impressive... until you compare it to your average super-durable combatant in DC or Marvel who could just shrug it off. So either the majority of parahumans aren't incredibly strong, or the PRT really needs to adjust their scale. Which, I mean, is possible, I guess, they are a bureaucracy. But we see plenty of parahumans that shouldn't be too difficult for a well-trained team of humans to deal with. Aegis, Grue, Spitfire, Glory Girl, Miss Militia, Bitch, Regent, Mush...and that's just from Brockton Bay. I'm inclined to believe in the threat ratings.

If you think those guys are necessarily weak, that's just you having a warped understanding of those power's value. Of course they aren't as strong as superman, if you call things that aren't on that level weak, you're an idiot. because pretty much nothing else in any setting is on that level.

The thing about Worm is that you don't usually see heroes who are remotely as powerful as your average DC hero. The only ones who ARE that powerful are either cheating in some way (Cauldron vials, powers that weren't meant to be used or aren't properly limited), or using more than one power set at once (Glaistig Uaine, the Butcher).

>Would you call Gil weak because Xianxia exists?
I would actually call Gil weak by comparison to a lot of settings. I'm not particularly impressed by Gil's feats. He can talk up Ea all he wants, it's still not a very damaging attack. "Oh no, you hit me with some lava, how scary~" The Hadean Eon wasn't that energetic, reverting the world around me to it isn't impressive.

As for comparing to other settings, you're missing the point of the original conversation: This anon was asking of ways to go above and beyond to steal things from Worm and take them with him. My point is that he's probably wasting his effort. There are a few shards that yeah, those would be awesome to take with you. Sting, the Siberian, Stilling, Grey Boy, Alexandria, Phir Se, maybe Chevalier, too. Probably a few others, but it's late and I'm too lazy to go over the story. But aside from those, it's not worth the effort to grab all the shards. Grab the outliers, and leave the others behind.
>>
>>53794845
>the idea of a partnership.

Literally an impossibility.
>>
>>53794845
Thrall is orc Jesus. He's kind of an outlier in general, senpai. And do you even know anything about the Shaman lore? They're not partners with the spirits. They're servants.

>>53794856
Better to be your own master than a beloved slave, anon.
>>
>>53794871
>do you even know anything about the Shaman lore?

My main's a Shaman, bitch. Every quest in their class campaign makes it out as a partnership, not your dick-sucking obsessive idea of "oh god I'm a slave aaaaaa."

And you didn't answer my question, boy. Do you see Power Borrowers as slaves? or people who bond with Symbiotes?
>>
>>53794898

>The shard isn't part of their genetic code. It isn't "them", so no you wouldn't
1: a person can have more than one DNA profile.
2. The lobe that forms in the brain is a structural thing, but that it has foreign DNA was never explicitly stated, and would be pretty obvious in an autopsy if it were the case. A bodily structure can exist (on not exist like missing limbs) independent of the DNA profile.
3. That said, polyjuice potions don't duplicate someone else's brain, or their memory and personality would overwrite yours while the potion lasts.
>>
>>53794869
Just because you got dicked in the ass doesn't mean everybody else does. You should read the fine print once in a while.
>>
>>53794911
I feel like my own master, yeah.
>>
>>53794788
So then, what? Do you only compare them to their own setting, or settings which are similar in general "strength"? Then if they're strong in their setting, then of course they are. Though with that, you can hardly say they're "strong" relative to other settings. If you compare them to the mundane world... Well, of course they're strong. A person with a gun is a huge threat in mundane settings. But it is appropriate. You don't say that an anorexic is strong because they've only had anorexics to compare to. You don't say two random untrained drunks are expert fighters because they're the best in their bar. Anon's comparing them to "street-level" characters, which are all things considered fairly common across fiction. Also, this whole conversation started when OP was asked why he'd bother stealing these powers when there's comparable abilities elsewhere, to which he replied they're "pretty strong".
>>
>>53794912
>a person can have more than one DNA profile.
Chimeras get out.
>>
>>53794910
>I don't have any idea what a Charyeok is.

Spirits or Spirit-fragments that Borrowers make deals with to access their power and abilities. The idea's in their name, 'Power Borrower.'

And you still could've answered the Symbiote front.
>>
>>53794638
>What are three powers in Worm that /you/ consider strong, that aren't S-Class threats, and why?
Alabaster - because it seems like it would scale well with durability with good equipment
August Prince - Is just generally pretty cool and good
Citrine - Would be useful for dealing with other power users.

I deliberately chose random people who I thought weren't top tier in Worm. These powers would be useful even if they aren't 'the best' or that amazing compared to planetbusters, but they don't have to be.
>>
>>53794912
>would be pretty obvious in an autopsy if it were the case
The Corona Pollentia is actually incredibly hard to locate, to the point where it's not actually considered a viable means of determining if someone is a parahuman and just hiding their powers. It's entirely possible for someone to have a shard connection without having any distinctively different brain structure for an autopsy to find.
>>
>>53794934
Just accept you're wrong.

>>53794919

>>53794934
Like The Borrowers?

That depends, because symbiotes have many different temperaments, and the result of a long bond is for the host and symbiote to essentially fuse into one being. Even so, symbiotes have influence over the host the host does not have over the symbiote, and so they hold power over them.

>You don't say that an anorexic is strong because they've only had anorexics to compare to. You don't say two random untrained drunks are expert fighters because they're the best in their bar.
You also don't call superman weak because Suggsverse exists to compare him to. Comparing power levels with settings that are vastly more powerful in general is stupid and pointless. The point is that you compare their usefulness to an objective scale and appreciate the fact that most settings aren't full of people who compare favorably to Exalts.

>>
>>53794954
>Alabaster - yeah, sounds useful
>August Prince - I would consider this "strong" as well
>Citrine - also "strong"

>useful
Yes. they would be. The thing is, I don't consider something that is "useful" to necessarily be "strong", and thus a power doesn't have to be "strong" for me to consider it useful. But, eh, we're just arguing semantics at this point.

The thing is, that barring an oddly-specific perk that allows you to convert whatever you want into a "power", then a lot of the stuff in Worm is obsolete. Like, you'd need high-tier dimensional travel and matter manipulation at the very least, or possibly spacial compression. Also, I can't immediately recall any settings with "power stealing" that works on multiple sources that aren't far and above the Worm-verse without similar powers of their own.

That's the force of what split the heaven and the earth, it's not just "lava".

I thought the Shards scaled down what they can actually do to the levels seen in powers, both to force their hosts to innovate in ways that could then be applied to their full power applications and make sure they're nearly guaranteed to lose against the Entities if they get uppity, which would be why jailbreaking Shards was such a big deal at the end?

>>
>>53795102
No, it's the force that created the Hadean Eon. "Splitting heaven and earth" is just a metaphor because in the Nasuverse, despite all the weird mysticism about "planetary Reality Marbles" cosmogenesis happened more or less like science says it does. Ea's power is the power that condensed a bunch of rocks together into a ball of lava that slowly cooled into a planet. Except not nearly as massive, because it only reverts the world to a tiny bit of the Hadean Eon, not the whole thing.
>>

>>
>>53795111
Shards do impose restrictions on what the powers they can grant do, yeah. But they're still huge machines. Part of that is because a shard has to be an incredibly adaptive machine, because they're not pre-programmed with specific powers. They've got specific means of manipulating reality, and then have to reconfigure those to make a certain power. Means they're full of redundancies.
>>
>>53795087
>The thing is, that barring an oddly-specific perk that allows you to convert whatever you want into a "power", then a lot of the stuff in Worm is obsolete.
That's literally what I'm fucking asking for though. I don't care what you fucking think about my choices for powers to collect, I just want an answer for how to make other people's shards into nonphysical spirits or something instead of planet-sized multidimensional constructs. I can figure out a way to make them better on my own, just tell me how to make them not require immense amounts of infrastructure to support.

Vanquish seems to be the frontrunner- buying the Killer Robot Company can net you like 300 death-bots per purchase.

Kerbal Space Program can get you something like 200 Kerbals, and Skullgirls can net you 100 soldiers loyal to you.

Are there any other Jumps that offer similar options?

I think you might be able to give them humanoid spirit alt-forms using Polymorphization from The God of High School, though that might be a stretch. And that makes the newly-created humanoid spirits well-inclined and slightly loyal to you, so that would help in bringing them with.

On the other tendril, you're missing the point of deciding to use the alt-chain builder; it doesn't offer "additional starting options", it offers "different starting rules":

>This is a supplemental resource intended for those who want inspiration for writing an altchain with rules that are different from those commonly assumed.

Or to put it another way, here's my attempt at showing how you would build "standard" jumpchain rules with the current alt-builder:

Liberties:
+ Extra Supplement (Body Mod)
+ Extra Supplement (Cosmic Warehouse)
+ Alt-Form Armoire
+ Braving The Gauntlets
+ The Entourage (actually better than standard, which limits you to any 8 at any given time)
+ Importing Rezzes Companions (actually worse than standard, which auto-rezzes after time)
+ Omnilingual (actually better than standard, which just gives you the one local language)
+ Sparky (get a Spark when you take an End Jump and win)

Restrictions:
- Entertain Me! (the Benefactor offering the original Pokemon jump)
- Diminishing Returns

As you can see, the alt-chain builder is not designed to offer a free lunch; you can't even build a valid "standard ruleset" if you use it (you'd be 6 restrictions short).

Frankly the best aspect to this is being able to use it to directly transfer memories.
>Mirror World Transfer (1200, Magus)
This... is useful. Especially if I can have the equivalent of an entire city in the mirror world. Move there with all the combatants, let the battle wreck the place, then we're back in the real world and everything is fine.
>Gravity Magic (1100, Magus)
With Prodigy, twenty circuits can let me kick gravity up a hundredfold in an area the size of a football field? Does that work for a linear increase? Because I'd be happy to kick gravity up to some 6,650 times normal gravity by my measure.
>Magical Prodigy (700, Magus)

Huh. Actually, getting to study the notes on how some of the stuff he'd made... this gives me ideas. Ideas to work into the gauntlet.

>Zelretch laughed himself silly when he saw the results of that, and told me he'd be seeing me around.
A day later, Zelretch steps out from behind me and pitches me through a portal. "SOONER THAN YOU THOUGHT--!"

So the first test was to be on a world without any prana and get out before it died utterly, since it was on the verge of death already. Which... yes, I could have cheated any number of ways, used out of context magic and so on, but... come on, I've been tutored by Zelretch for ten years. If I couldn't figure out a way to do that here, I'd hardly be worthy of his attention, now would I?

I ended up figuring out three ways - one was utilizing magic circuits in the expected way, one was out-of-context magic emulating similar effects, and one (which I have more pride about than I have any business being) was made entirely out of scrap, a few computers, and a number of jewels focusing light in just the right way to make a short-lived portal.

Sure, plenty of insanity is taking place all around, but this is basically me taking a calmer decade to put all the effort into the Second Magic that I can.

I should be flattered that he thought I was worthy of another decade of tutoring, frankly-

Wait.

Wait, this isn't the same Zelretch?

Wait, what do you mean of course this isn't, it's been a different Zelretch every few months?

YOU ZELRETCHES ARE SUCH TROLLS.

I'll never know for certain whether he's just screwing with me or actually being serious, will I?

It occurs to me that the phasing power in the Incredibles is pretty useful in that it doesn't world on organic beings. It's a pretty great way to attack people in power armor. That was because Starcraft and Warcraft were originally supposed to be Warhams RTSes.

GeeDubs just backed out of the deal hard and they had all these damn assets, so they chose to try and make something out of it. If you look at how far they've come from that basic standpoint, it's pretty damn cool honestly.

So I took 500 points worth of perks, threw the other 500 into the servant supplement, and sent Cú Chulainn in to regulate. (No, I didn't take him with me afterward.)

The resulting display was a little underwhelming since I asked him to avoid holding back or toying with the enemy - there's no point when this is a serious conflict. I'm just happy I didn't get tossed in by dint of being a demi-servant myself.

It's sort of complicated. What you start with is the 'Warrior Entity', which is the giant space whale thing everyone sees in visions that, IIRC, dwarfs planets. It's co posed of a weird multidimensional crystal-thing that's something between a brain, a computer, and the hardware needed to manipulate reality. The entity is sentient, but very very alien, to the point where negotiation is going to be difficult Then the Entity splits itself into thousands of fragments all composed of these crystals. Most of these go out and become the 'shards' that attach to parahumans. Some so out and become End fingers. And the single biggest piece of entity becomes the 'Avatar', i.e Scion. It's important to note that Scion =/= the Entity, and each shard us basically it's own seperate lifeform. Thean is that, at the end of the cycle, all the pieces come together again and reform the Warrior Entity (obviously this doesn't happen).

So if you want to negotiate for a particular power, presumably you're going to have to negotiate with an individual shard. Which raises problems, because they're going to be extremely alien, and there's not necessarily going to be equipped to handle communications, with how hyper specialised they are. When the entity broke itself up, each shard was equipped with the ability to reach out and connect with a host, but not necessarily given a language processor or what have you.
>>
>>53796503
>dwarfs planets

Most of the time the transition is relatively painless (thanks to personality/willpower/etc.. perks coming into effect at the same time as the rest) and my current self take it as a spiritual awakening and/or marvel at the cool powers, but occasionally I'll freak out or use my powers stupidly or in a manner that my fully realized self wouldn't approve of. The Entities are basically retarded. They do want to stop entropy, sure, but half of it is because they want to mindlessly grow and expand and reproduce infinitely like retarded animals rather than just keeping the universe from suffering heat death. But since they are retarded, they are incapable of innovation. So they find alien species and attach their shards to them parasitically and force them to fight, then absorb the information provided by the fights and the interesting and novel uses the species have used the powers for, then they blow up the planet in every single reality it exists in as fuel to FTL to another planet. Their hope is that someone will find a use for a power that causes negative entropy.

So as you can see, the Entities are utterly malignant beings.

>>53796931
Man, that IS retarded. At that point they're basically speeding up multiversal entropy. And they probably don't even realize there's a problem. Jesus.
>>
>>53796957
To be honest, they probably found a way to break entropy already but are too stupid to realize that they've succeeded.
>>
>>53796931
Basically as retarded as the Incubators.

Although with these species I simply consider their goal being impossible and they have just left it to chance, since they could not simulate a scenario on their own where it could happen, they went to search for a species they could. But seeing their technology, wouldn't it be better to try and create the different point of view on their own? They clearly know how to create life, they could just put some planets on an altered time-zone and study them.
>>
>>53796972
Not really? The Incubators HAVE a method to stop entropy. They're actively using it. They just don't care about dead little girls.
>>
>>53790314
There is one in Medaka Box that's pretty good, but it relies on 'sensing' the attack. I guess that if you combined it with a powerful precog, the results would be pretty impressive.
>>
>>53796976
They clearly have the science to do that in vats, and yet they waste energy in an inefficient system. Kyubey said that he has a 'quota' to fill and once that's done, he abandons the planet. Which is kind of stupid since they could be feeding from that planet indefinitely.

Also, they didn't actually had a method to stop it, they're just slowing it. Even god!Madoka just switched to another system, not stopped it. And she was the most powerful thing that came out from their system.
>>
>>53796976
They also dont care that their power source gets destroyed, incubators are retarded.
>>
>>53796798
>>53796941
I also remember that he said that it doesn't come with an understanding of how to navigate the multiverse, just the means to traverse it, with the closest alternate timelines being the ones with the least differences. I assume that full slides have a greater 'range' than mental ones, or that there's a greater degree of control, although I might be mistaken.
>>
>>53796957
Basically the race spent countless eons acting like sub-sentients and eating and fucking mindlessly throughout the alternate realities of their planet (they had somehow naturally evolved interuniversal travel in a primitive form.) They destroyed the entire biosphere except themselves. They'd just eat and fuck until they couldn't sustain it anymore, then have massive population collapses, and do it all over again. Like I said, painfully retarded.

It's worth noting that they were basically individual shards at this point or primitive aggregates. Eventually though, one of them evolved to be more intelligent and realized they were all being retarded. He manage to grab everyone's attention, and announced both that this boom and bust cycle was fucking stupid and they were going to kill themselves off eventually, but that the universe itself wasn't infinite and eventually would die under entropy, and they should use their powers to combat it instead of eating and fucking.

All the other Shards/Entities promptly ate this individual, like mindless animals. They did absorb his knowledge though, and realized that yeah, they should stop and fix that entropy thing. So they assembled into basic forms of the Entities you know today (in a number we don't know), then blew up their home planet in all realities to gather the energy for FTL. Not because that's the only way to FTL, mind, but because they learned about it at some point and are incapable of innovating or changing on their own. Thus they set up the Cycle as explained to you before.

Of course, while it seems like they absorbed the one smart Shard's knowledge, they see m to be incapable of what it was truly blessed with: independent and innovative thought. Truly a great loss. Fucking retards.

>>53796999
>>53796991
They probably have a ton of planets, so one being lost is irrelevant. Also we know they use the Meguca system because it's most energy efficient.
>>
>>53796972
Entities are almost incapable of original thought. They don't know to try more peaceful experiments because they simply do not think of altering their plan.
>>
>>53797010
>>All the other Shards/Entities promptly ate this individual, like mindless animals.
Nah, I'm pretty sure that guy used all his energy to basically project his message to all the entities in all the versions of the planet. I think the message was that they should all fight each other so they evolve quicker? I forgot. Anyway, 'cause he had no energy left he was the first to die.
>>
>>53797010
The best part is-I remember Wildbow said if the cycle had been successful on Earth, the key data Zion and Eden would have gathered was insight into how brains work.

>They are running out of time.

The ancestor knows this, and it isn’t satisfied. It knows its kin aren’t satisfied either. They are quiet, because there is nothing to say. They are trapped by their nature, by the need to subsist. They are rendered feral, made to be sly and petty and cruel by circumstance. They are made base, lowly.

With all of this in mind, the ancestor broadcasts a message. Each member of the species is made up of cells, of shards, and a typical broadcast is a simple concept, a single message nuanced by a million individual influences brought to bear by the shards that made up the speaker.

Proposal.

The message is voiced with violence, across innumerable wavelengths and means, through heat and motion and electromagnetics and light. Each shard cluster retains different abilities, minor tools for self-defense and offense, for finding prey and helping the ancestor make its way in the cold gray mud. In communicating, it turns the vast majority of these resources outward, to transmit the signal, and each form of communication has different ideas, different subtleties. In this, a greater, complex communication is achieved.

The act of speaking nearly kills it, it is so starved for energy.

It continues, and because this message is so different from the screams and cries over food and territory and everything else, the others listen. They expend their own energy to transmit it further. The idea spreads across every possible world like a ripple.

A species needs to continue evolving. It needs conflict and variation.

Failure to meet these objectives leads to self-destruction.

By the time the ancestor is finished communicating, it is depleted, unable to even move as it is shoved by the bodies of others that swim past.

Then, in bits and pieces, it is devoured.

Devoured not for energy, but for material.
>>
>>53797030
>Entities fucked their chance of rational thought

Welp.

Anyway, remember that Entities can call to each other for help. We don't know if Scion or Eden at some point communicated with nearby Entities their findings and more Entities could be already on their way to eat the Earth.
>>
>>53797035
>The shards are absorbed, made a part of the eater, and the ones who eat swell in size. Unsustainable sizes, but they grow nevertheless.

All across the possible worlds, the creatures turn on one another. It is a war, but it takes a different shape, a different form. This time they are not eating for energy, but to stay afloat and stay large enough that they are not subsumed by a greater whole.

The gray planet makes several revolutions around its star before things reach a climax. Many of the creatures are so large they cannot subsist in one world alone. They weave into one world and worm out into another. Every flank is vulnerable to another of its kind lunging out into a world and attacking, consuming whole chunks at a time. Heat, cold, electricity and mental manipulations are leveraged in these struggles, slowing their targets down enough for them to wrap themselves around, shear off a section to take into themselves.

More revolutions, and only a handful remain. Energy is scarce, even with the individual bodies taking up whole oceans of the thin gray mud, absorbing all of the light and radiation they can. Countless worlds have grown dim, absorbed of all possible life and nutrients in the course of struggles and fighting.

The smallest ones recognize the fact that they don’t have energy, that it would cost them all too much if they continued fighting this uphill battle. They submit, and are consumed.

Two remain.

They spend time reorganizing themselves, shifting the sheer masses of shards they have acquired into forms useful for another task.

Once they are reformed, they leech all of the heat and energy from countless worlds and concentrate it in a single reality. The energy boils the oceans of silt-choked waters, disintegrates the landmasses.
>>
>>53797030
>>53797036
Perhaps Abaddon already knows and merely doesn't agree with the plan.
>>
>>53797035
So basically it killed itself to transmit its message and then it split itself so it could be devoured so his body wouldn't go to waste?

>The shattering is so extreme that it extends into other worlds, through the same channels that the fragments used to extend into other realities. Every single one of the remaining habitable worlds is destroyed in the ensuing blast.

And the fragments radiate outwards, shedding and dropping their protective shells as they sail into the black, empty void.

Gestation.

Still flying through the void, the entity forms the word in the midst of its recollections.

They are children. Offspring. They travel the void, hoping to encounter another habitable world.

This is the beginning.

Are you deliberately acting retarded? This snippet takes place in the past. There are only two entities at this date, the ones leaving this planet. They reproduce exponentially afterwards, that's why there are others in the universe.

Your argument is literally pointless. The entire point of bring it up in the first place was because someone wanted to barter with entities/shards for their powers and people not knowing for sure if they would even be sentient or capable of making a deal.
>>
>>53797152
Alright, I misread that. They basically did then what they do now, exploding so that their shards can become new entities.

>>53797115

Do you have a general sense of what 'direction' you're going in?
Do you just not know where you're going to end up when you slide?
Can you even hope to figure out how to get back to your original timeline?

We did sorta fight by proxy that one time? Very, very sorta.

I was taking Tim, Elaine and Mona on a field trip in the Justice League headquarters as part of their magical education (Lucifer was busy running his multiverse or something, so as per our dark pact I was taking on babysitting duties). Anyway it was going pretty well: Tim got to have a picture taken with Batman, Elaine got a selfie with Wonder Woman (who loved her cosplay). The problem started when Bristles the hedgehog got into a scrap with, er, Scrap the squirrel.

It was a buried nut. Bristles wanted to eat the nut. Scrap wanted to store it for winter.

Also Bristles was a Knight of the Verdant Order because I'd been teaching Mona how to empower champions last week, so he was a bit cocky.

Anyway, I take my eyes off the meet and greet for ONE minute, and I find the goddess of hedgehogs and the champion of squirrels trying to break up two fuzzy woodland creatures. Which can be VICIOUS bastards when it comes to winter stores. Fur was flying, claws were bloodied. And then Bristles used the power of a Chaos Emerald to achieve his super mode, and kicked Scrap out a window.

I ended up paying for the vet bills. So I kinda won the battle but lost the war?

I...guess that counts as a draw?
>>
>>53797176
And it was established by the argument that the entities are idiots and should actually be relatively easy to scam into giving you all their stuff, but not totally non-sentient, just incapable of original thought, so it was worthwhile anyway.

For some reason I don't want to be the "oh just take this perk to trivialize it" person in this conversation... but I'm totally gonna be that person.

Portal Jump has the perk "Not Aperture Science!", which gives you a free doctorate in a field of your choice... or three doctorates in a field made up by Aperture Science.
Now, normally Aperture Science is not exactly dependable, but one of their canonical personal scientific fields is "Multiversal Search Algorithms", which does about what you'd expect. It was used in the Portal DLC, which along with allowing you to build and download maps with the online community, also had a "storyline" of accompanied sound bytes where Cave Johnson was sending you through portals to the multiverse to test alternate Aperture Science's test facilities and bring back the data.
Presumably at the very least they were able to accurately determine if the alternate universe they were sending you to actually HAD an Aperture Science and wasn't just a giant desert filled with sandworms.

So yeah, it's debatable how much they can narrow things down, and I imagine narrowing down things to a really significant degree would have longer search times, but you could presumably build a computer that tracks this shit for you, with that.

I never quite found out what there is to do here. I think that's why my build practically 180'd over the /holy shit it's been literal years/

"Stay the fuck away from Mars and learn magical kung fu" never seemed like an interesting summary of events. Normally prudence trumps sense of adventure nine times out of ten but-Fate was about 40 or so jumps ago, and recent events (and events yet to come) have retconned it such that:

1. I have two True Magics, and am some sort of Age of the Gods wizard wunderkind

2. I was around for enough Grail Wars to absorb an absolute boatload of magical energy-enough to become a sort of artificial divine spirit

3. I'm in the company of a cheerful greek witch, a predatory gorgon and a disillusioned but noble princess

I didn't MEAN to accidentally become an additional Negi, but then I found out Negi's rival Fate is also an additional Negi. And so are a few other characters like that Jack Rakan guy and his dad, sort of. It seems to be a very common trend.

So, I...guess I'll fit right in?

This, on the other hand, is playing out like someone modded the Book of Exodus into Galactic Civilisations.

Dashing ship commander shows up in the heat of battle with impossibly advanced ship, dons a crown of thorns and claims to be the son of God come to end all wars. Immediately gets hit with all of the heresy accusations, ever. In response, promptly annoints Saint Harrington as a paragon of the true faith, and starts issuing controversial new commandments.

Like, "Thou shalt be equals before the LORD regardless of how thou pisseth" and "Blessed are the machine spirits, for they doeth more work than any of you damned naked apes". Oh, and "thou shalt not cheat thine punishments for ignoring these commandments with FTL you rambunctious little heretics".

So naturally, there's a schism or two that gets pretty desperate once I started unleashing plagues of darkness in their places of worship, plagues of locusts in their places of worship (the giant, scorpion tailed, human faced kind that shanks unbelievers) and plagues of hail in the spaceships. While they're in space. Which naturally puts them at something of a disadvantage against a tactical genius of a saint.

Other than that, I also paved the way for granting both treecats and machine spirits equal rights as sapient beings. Which naturally involves a lot of paperwork alongside the other admin work needed to sort out all this damned corruption.

I know its late but:

Draenei are able to become Shamans because they were taught how to communicate with them. Then bargain for power. This applies on Outland/Draenor & Azeroth. On Azeroth the elements were imprisoned because of the Old Gods/Void Lords. On Draenor they weren't locked up. However the creation of the Outland severely damaged them. They're only refugee is Nagand. I believe the Earthen Ring had set up shop there too.

Worgen were isolationist humans from Gilneas. It wouldn't make sense for them to have members trained as Monks, a Panderan thing, when they never had contact with them. Same goes with the Blightwater Cartel goblins.

They're Death Knights only because the DK Worgen were actually formally feral Worgen created by Argus. The Goblins likewise weren't Blightwater Cartel Goblins but from different Cartels. Just gameplay wise they're lumped in with the Goblins rescued by the Horde during Cata.

Druids require connection to Nature & the Wild Gods. Trolls see them as the Loa, which makes sense. Worgen are connected to Scythe of Elune & through the help of the Night Elves. Draenei are aliens from another world, they're also corrupting nature due to their spaceship crash. So they don't have the connection required to be Druids.

Well, first off-because between additional smugness and a slow descent into poorer living standards caused by vested interests exploiting the industrial-military complex, I'd prefer the former. According to my designated conscience companions, I can't just "rewrite thoughts to dream-incinerate the dickery out of the collective subconsciousness" because something something free will, so this is the compromise humanity gets: Smug pricks smugly being smug under my patronage. Because if someone's going to run the world, they had better be competant.

I mean...who else is there? Seriously, drawing a blank here. Those treecats seem pretty nice? "Blessed are the treecats, for the celery industry shall experience a booming harvest because I might as well make the most out of my contract with THE SLUT"?

>I mean...who else is there? Seriously, drawing a blank here. Those treecats seem pretty nice? "Blessed are the treecats, for the celery industry shall experience a booming harvest because I might as well make the most out of my contract with THE SLUT"?
I'd go with the Solarian League, personally. Before they got retconned so that Manticore could feel smugly superior to them, they seemed pretty nice. It's not their fault if all their good qualities got sacrificed on the altar of Honor Harrington's ego.
>>
>>53797691
Outlands were created when the Alliance formed an expedition crusade through the Dark Portal, to Draenor. Ner'zhul tried to create portals to other worlds to escape. However too many dimensional portals is bad, and everything started to explode.

In the end it was the Draenei's fault. They landed on Draenor, they attracted the Legion, the Legion corrupted the Orcs, the Orcs invaded Azeroth, Azeroth retaliated, Orcs sought to leave, but ended up blowing up their own homeworld. Leaving most the survivors trapped on Azeroth or on a world fragment.

Also I like point out, Gilneans were ruralist. They had their own Druidic cult, centering around harvest. So it wasn't that big of a leap to joining up with the Night Elves.
>>
>>53797646
I know why Draenei have Shamans, but there's no reason they can't Druids, it's just that nobody has told that crippled little Broken freak Nobundo to fuck off.

Nature is an innate aspect of reality, along with every other kind of magic. It exists everywhere. You don't need to be connected to ONE planet to use the universal concept of Nature, and the Wild Gods essentially have to be convinced the deal with you, which shouldn't be impossible.

>>
>>53797822
Nature is an innate aspect of reality, but you need to really love nature to be a Druid. Gilneas is probably most technologically advanced race to be a Druid. They've have primitive Harvest Witches since their beginning, despite their advancements the cult ever died out. Seeing how everytime there's a famine, they're the ones to turn to for help.

Every other race lives pretty close to nature. They're in the tribal stage of development. Or incorporate nature in their architecture & way of life like the Night Elves. Even Tauren's city is just a bunch of huts.
>>
>>53797961
You have to shift into it in-game, so it amounts to the same.
>>
>>53797967
So you can love nature and run off into the woods. I'm not seeing the problem. It's not much different than REALLY loving the spirits to the point of letting them into your head to boss you around.

1. They're D&D monsters, so depending on what you pick you can get a lot of powerful abilities that outstrip any of the other options in the jump by a wide margin. It does require you to be reasonably knowledgeable about D&D, though, or at least willing to dive into some research.
2. Because D&D monsters generally aren't attractive, and they're definitely evil in the not-fun way. They're more like the casually torturing halflings and eating bones evil. So, barring you having weird fetishes that a jumpmaker can't account for, it's worthy of being a drawback.

>>
>>53798298
Monsters are powerful, since the restriction is it must have a human form Dragon is even an option. Of course you would be a really young dragon and not especially powerful but there is a lot of room for growth.

Also the dragons that have human forms are almost always good so that makes it easier for you to escape to a less awful D&D setting during the jump.

You want to show the dark powers how much of a good guy you are so they'll let you leave, sure they will try to corrupt you first but ignoring that corruption and being a proper hero is a good way to escape the plane.
>>
>>53798181

Technically possible. After all, Shaman are taught by other people who decided to beg the spirits for power.

>You want to show the dark powers how much of a good guy you are so they'll let you leave, sure they will try to corrupt you first but ignoring that corruption and being a proper hero is a good way to escape the plane.
Nope. In Ravenloft, being a hero and saving people, charity, defending yourself, all of which are considered evil and are subject to the dark powers deciding you're a dark lord and stuck there forever.
>>
>>53798360

>>
>>53798416
>Wut? So do I have to flay men and women and eat their children to be a good guy?
No, that's evil too. The dark powers arbitrarily decide what is and is not evil, so they can just decide to punish you for any arbitrary action on the basis that they thought it was bad.
>>

>>
One of the darklords is a medusa who was in a relationship with an abusive man who kept killing their children if they didn't end up perfect. One day, the man ended up with the perfect child he wanted, but the medusa had a mental breakdown from this abuse and torture and killed him and tried to kill the baby. That's when they turned her into a darklord.

She's a really mentally ill woman who wants to start a family more than anything, and the main way the dark powers fuck with her is by surrounding her with the bones of her dead children and cockblocking her whenever she tries to have sex with a man (she's thirsty as fuck because as I said, she's mentally broken and obsessed with having a family) by turning off this anti-petrification item she has.

That's actually wrong though? But Jumpchain being what it is, I'm not sure if you're being purposefully obstinate, or if you've just been misinformed by other people. Ravenloft has a lot of salt surrounding it.
Ravenloft used to be a fun shitposting tactic, back when this thread was new and we still had funposting.

Being a hero is likely to bring the attention of the Dark Powers, but that's just because they like challenging heroes. And boy will they challenge you. They love to set up ways for you to fall to corruption or anger, and they fuck up alignment sensing powers so everything pings as evil. It's a dangerous road to go down, but genuinely trying to make the world a better place won't by itself get you trapped. It's just when you go overboard or allow yourself to be deceived/fall/whatever that can do that.

>>53798416
>>53798454
You can be the good guy just by doing little simple acts of good, if you want to do that, you know, like less "I will slay all that is evil" and more "This road needs paving and I have powers that make that real easy".
You can still slay evil, though. You just gotta be really careful about it. Don't go all knight templar or slay the wrong guy, you know?

He's just going over the top with it. The dark powers will fuck with you, but they don't 'punish' good, they tempt it or try to trick it, then when you fuck up or accept their temptations they hit you with way more than if you were evil in the first place. Mind you they will totally manipulate things such that if you try to save someone from someone else attacking them you probably just committed an evil act. Also killing someone in self defense, not evil, killing someone who is attacking you and is themselves evil but are not a threat to you, evil. Just imagine someone being a complete dick about the rules and that's basically how evil acts work in Ravenloft.

Anons have been bring it up as a way to get everything from MtA Arcana ranks, to Divine Portfolios from Greek Myth, to Practical Guide to Evil Names, ect. they've definitely been used a lot for various things.

so if i'm making a new servant, let's just say a lancer. What's her base gae bolg rank would be?
>>
>>53798551
They try to trick people into doing evil, they are massive cunts about their methods.
>>
>>53798563
Whatever gae bolg is in canon. You need to buy up to the appropriate rank for it to actually be gae bolg

Just read the Noble Phantasm section later in the supplement.

That's the stat as it appears on the stat sheet. It doesn't really govern anything since Noble Phantasms are separate to the stat buying part. That stat will just be equal to the rank of the highest ranked NP you buy. If you buy an A rank Noble Phantasm and nothing else, then your NP stat will just be A.

Crux does though.

Personally I'm really fond of the Dark Contract perk.
>>53798551
Your situation does not matter to the dark powers except in legitimate cases of self defense, and they are basically constantly trying to trick and trap people into committing evil acts. There is a system in place, I don't remember the rules of it but basically anyone can "freely" borrow the power to curse others, but using it basically gives the dark powers the option to punish you and pushes you further down the path of getting trapped.

Vampire or Lich are pretty good. They have special variants and additional powers, like "control thousands of undead".

>>53798385

Not really a gothic-fantasy Ravenloft monster... though there're a couple types that would fit.
>>

It is a decently made D&D jump, we are short on those. Well short on them relative to how much fun stuff there is to get/do in D&D settings.

Eberron when?

Also anon was wrong the age range is 15+1d8 or "your race's equivalent" so you could be as old as a young adult dragon.

>53798649
If you insist on sticking to the Gothic theme, which isn't there in all the domains, you might want to just pass on the dragon idea. From that perk you would be stuck with choosing from the dragon species that get a humanoid alternate form which is mostly good dragons who are more classic fantasy than Gothic.

> Just imagine someone being a complete dick about the rules and that's basically how evil acts work in Ravenloft.
Yeah, that's basically Ravenloft. Ravenloft is basically "That DM": The Setting.

Look, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. You're not gonna fix Ravenloft. You're just not. Not without some kind of fiat, a bunch of holy salt, and a whole lot of fanwankery.
It's basically a prison plane for evil people, run by magical god wardens who are themselves evil, and are constantly looking for ways to expand the cell block.

And hypothetically, like, as written by the writers of Ravenloft itself, it's supposed to be a setting that exemplifies true heroics? Like, "The light shines brightest in the darkness", kindof deal.
But in actual practice, it's just constantly stepping on light because fuck light.

But it's still possible to navigate, just like it's possible to navigate a That DM campaign, especially in a hypothetical narrative where the DM doesn't know you're playing.

But you still probably shouldn't go there if you picked up any of the killing awards from Hatred.

>>53798557
Honestly? Probably a pretty good plan.

Although you might want to hold off on the "putting people out of their misery" part. I mean, you could really make a case for that, but that seems like the kind of thing that might be branded as evil anyway. Ravenloft is not a place for grey areas.

But then, I don't really know what the Dark Powers' policy on a fucking dragon would be. Might work.

>But then, I don't really know what the Dark Powers' policy on a fucking dragon would be. Might work.
No it wouldn't, it's basically guaranteed to fail, because you're picking a fight with the dark lords and would automatically be labeled as evil and become one if you win. Dark Powers do not tolerate anyone doing anything that can be viewed negatively from any perspective no matter who you are.
>>
>>53798706
Right so maybe leave the eating the dark lords plan until later then, perhaps on a return late chain or post spark when I can tear the dark powers a new asshole.
>>
>>53798557
>eat the dark lords to either put them out of their misery or kill them for being evil cunts depending on their circumstances

Worst-case scenario, you become the new Darklord. Other worst-case, you kill everyone in their realm when it dissolves back into mist. Most of the time, they'll just be reborn, because they haven't suffered an appropriate defeat.

Even things like that Sidereal perk won't help - the Dark Powers are explicitly involved and are basically all Dungeon Masters. They'd just make it happen anyway, or get creative.

It's certainly possible to defy or defeat the Dark Powers, but playing right into their hands is probably not a good method. You'd need to think of it as though you were a character in a tabletop game, trying to defeat the Dungeon Master - power isn't terribly relevant.

>>53798562
I took Dark Contract which is basically the same perk effectively from Ravenloft, and to be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing in my chain anymore.

Perks like those are super strong and useful, but because of how potent they are, it rapidly becomes ambiguous how strong you actually are at any given point in time, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone else was doing something similar and felt the need to ask just to understand where they stood.

>>53798847
You might be able to pull a Vecna or ride the Mist out to a generic setting and escaping that way.
