I love this scheme, and would totally use it if their lore wasn't basically

>We're obviously Nazis.

Maybe I can use a Primaris company as an excuse to make a "my dudes" version. Would be pretty awesome to be able to use the Culln Leviathan.

Iron hands successor chapter.
>>
>>53754005

AdMech schism happened during the Age of Apostasy, and the Iron Hands and successors had their own disagreement. They agreed that they'd just have a temporary solution by kicking all the ones who believed in the Moirae Doctrine a doctrine that believes that you can read the future in the fluctuations of the astronomicon, and it read that the Ecclesiarchy and AdMech will fall and their peoples will merge into a weird chimeric machine/faith cult were formed into their own group.

They had enough marines to form three full companies out of it, and the High Lords declared them a canonized Chapter, to which Iron Hands and other protested because it was an unorthodox way to make a Chapter. Still, they had to relent against the word of Terra, and the Sons of Medusa are a thing. They are distrusted because it's said they like to fight other Space Marines to steal their stuff, as a little of that happened during the Badab War.
>>
>>53754216

It's still unknown what they are. For the potency of their geneseed, they could be Sons of Horus loyalists.

Out of all the maybe traitor successors out there, Red Scorpions have the least on them, save the vague suggestion that they are descended from traitors.

A less drow and more dark skin take on Salamanders with tattoos and sharkteeth swords would be pretty badass.

It'd be easy to justify in the fluff too, maybe a third or fourth founding tried to remove some of the impurities of the Salamanders and they look like normal humans but still like hanging around volcanoes.

Imagine a feral world which is NOTHING but active volcano chains in a giant ocean with constant battle for control of islands. It'd be a good chapter homeworld.

My one complaint with Primaris models is that huge fucking empty space on the inside of the collar. It's super visible too, old marines once you glue the head in the collar is nice and snug, this one has a huge empty floppy space.

Gravis hoods are also stupid but if they release a part that allows you to have the visor down, I will forgive it.

believe it or not that's actually one of the better designed aspects of the model.

That goofy looking collar protects the wearer from projectiles ricocheting off the chest piece and glancing up into his face/neck. You actually see it a lot with older medieval armor and the like, plus the Mk VIII pattern armor for regular marines has it too.

I think what anon complains about isn't the collar itself, but rather the body to head connection point that, to his taste, way too big.
As shown on thid picture, fortunately, that wide gap isn't present on all the models.

One can hope it is seen on some models because they are snapfit, however the whole body changed size except the pauldrons and the head. Easy to see why suddenly the neck hole would become more visible.

I don't really see why people celebrate the haka like that.
I mean I get the cultural significance, I just think it's kinda goofy looking.
>>
>>53771616
That's the part of appeal.
>>
>>53771491
I didn't name them, Anon. They're some small-time GW successor chapter of the Iron Hands that's only known for using land behemoths and being the first chapter to look at a whirlwind rhino and say "What if we used this thing as long-range artillery instead of a mobile missile platform?". That's literally it.

The name is probably because GW was grilling some intern for potential SM names and just randomly assigning names to maybe-kinda-fitting pre-made color schemes they had taped to a wall.
>>
>>53771616
It helps if you experience one in person and it's being directed in your general direction.

>>53771506
Are the Celestial Lions actually dark skinned or are they like the rest of the Imperium and they're just Caucasian folks with African-sounding names?
>>
>>53771700
I dunno man.
I've seen displays like this. Not a haka, but marching soldiers, hundreds of boots stamping in unison etc. That is intimidating.

The haka just doesn't do the same for me.
>>
>>53771616
It fits the whole theme of Space Marines being shock troops I'm

>100 or more 8 foot tall Angels of death all screaming in unison about how they're going to fucking rip and tear your flesh for the Emperor
>Screaming is amplified by their helmets to give more of a bassy sound
>Also stomping on the ground in unison which could potentially shake the ground especially if a dreadnought joined in

https://youtu.be/Wz7DzheCeuQ
>>
>>53771685

In all honestly, these names seem like they were generated out of the Deathwatch handbook for random Chapter names. Theme and notable events, characters, whatever come later.

I'm still wondering how that works out, since it all seems nearly consistent across all lesser known successors. Either FFG invented the tables to make random stuff and GW followed suit to help them randomly roll up stuff, or they were just really good at distilling the essence of 40k naming conventions into the tables they made.
>>
>>53771719
In the book their home planet is reminiscent of Terra's Africa, savannahs and whatnot. They aren't like Pitch Black like the Salamanders, more of a Mocha
>>
>>53771719

Unsure, we don't see enough official art or fluff appearances to judge.

However, their canon homeworld is basically a savannah planet, so it'd actually make sense for human skin to be darker there. Not like the Salamanders and more like an actual skin tone.
>>
>>53771754
The Celestial Lions' order of battle contains several specialist formations and officer positions not present in other Space Marine Chapters, though they largely resemble the standard codex positions:
â—¾Warleader (Captain)
â—¾Deathspeaker (Chaplain)
â—¾Spiritwalker (Librarian)
â—¾Lifebinder (Apothecary)
â—¾Pride Leader (Squad Sergeant) - Designated by black helmets.
>>
>>53771726
It's popular BECAUSE of how weird and unique it is. I personally find it pretty impressive when they're all yelling and doing the arm movements in unison.
>>
>>53771754
>>53771782
That's cool, then. I hadn't seen anything about their homeworld, and I do love their color scheme. It's still a toss-up for me whether I paint my eventual Primaris army as Celestial Lions or Lamenters.
>>
>>53771854

Celestial Lions have the better scheme. Lamenters are already hard enough to paint with all the yellow.

Also, Lamenters use Blood Angels rules as opposed to Space Marine ones, which should bear out more come the Codices.

It's not the yellow I'm worried about, honestly. My issue is that my hands shake pretty badly unless I brace my arms hard on the desk or I take some medicine., so I'd be more afraid of having to free-hand the check pattern and bleeding heart. Lions would definitely be easier on me except for free-handing the chapter emblem. I've heard there are ways to make homemade transfers, though, so I should probably look into that.
>>
>>53770334

If you know how to paint metallics well, which is pretty simple just don't put them on too thick and don't mess up the wash, it's so easy to paint good looking metallic marines. I bet it's why Iron Warriors are so popular, not just because of the old 3.5 and CSM fanbase.

GW have never made paints in-house, they probably just got their suppliers to make up a small special batch.

As far as I can tell they've been using a company called HMG Paints Ltd for years. The old Citadel range with Skull White, Screaming Pink etc. they now make as the "Coat d' Arms" range, which a few people might have heard of.

HMG also make Foundry's paints and Privateer Press' P3 range too.

>>
>>53789582
I get that it's supposed to show that they're packed with bionics, but they really should wear armor on the top of them. You could easily fit your standard power armor parts, there's no reason to expose them.
>>
>>53789655
Doesn't power armour not interface well with bionics?

I seem to remember that being the reason.
>>
>>53753918
It's amazing how much worse the 40k model looks.
>>
>>53789655
>>53789899
Yeah that is part of it. The black carapace in an implant under the skin that interfaces the marines nerves with the armor.
Binoics obviously don't have them.

But I also seem to recall an old bit of fluff, from the time when bionics were a +5pts upgrade you could buy that basically said that bionics are basically as tough or tougher anyway.
Which was the reason given why you could reroll wounds or whatever it was: 'the bullet hit the bionic and plinged off'

Kind of makes sense if you consider that powerarmor, though insanely more durable than anything we have, is still armor wrapped around a body. The bionic can use up the whole volume that would be otherwise occupied by flesh and it is therefore quite reasonable to assume that it may well be more sturdy than an armored flesh and bone limb.

I like Iron Hands too, but I'm considering painting my marines as Sons of Medusa, cause painting black SM armor is boring as fuck. And I already did that with another army.
