I did say "retire from running"
that can mean "got enough money to settle down and do whatever job just because they like it"
It can mean "the heat's too much and you want to take something less stressful"
It can mean "You either take the job or you die"

There are only two ways for me to retire chummer
The first one is making enough money to lay down under the sun and snort novacoke from models asses
The second is die trying
The rest is just giving up

okay, so the job you'd take would be "corpse"

He was already a retired leg breaker, bodyguard, and wheelman when he became a shadowrunner because he needed the money.

Ideally he would retire from shadow running to actual retirement. Get a home somewhere, upgrade his mobile home. And travel around the world, party, make trouble, maybe get in contact with his birth family and patching things up with those who would even talk to him. Eat, drink, drive fast, and enjoy some ice cream. He is a man of simple, though at times expensive, tastes and is going to be getting on in years soon, assuming he doesn't die from his crippling alcoholism first.

4th edition.

if your character starts the game not rich, doesn't have the perks that lower the essence cost of cyber or bioware, and is of medium to below average intelligence (not sharp, but not stupid enough to need a minder watching them) And has already spent 4.something essence on augments for reflexes armor and a control rig.

How should you go about spending xp and money to make them better as they develop?

I kind of feel like I've painted myself into a corner.

He has some actual honest-to-god land in injun territory. He's got dreams of being a farmer. Not a corp one, just a regular good old boy. Not a rich life, omae, but a surprisingly comfortable one for being in the grim future.

I feel like this could be photoshopped to be shadowrun very easily. Maybe put some cybernetics or tattoos on stallman. I'm just not sure what the replacement text should say though.

Also in the tea of augmented reality people can stick memes all over the place. Imagine like imagine seeing a tunnel of meme images stacked overtop of the road in your neighborhood. It would be annoying. It possibly also funny.

New to shadowrun, but how do I calculate bow damage? If I have a rating 6 bow, 6 strength, and 6 rating arrows for example. I'm not sure how the arrow rating factors into the equation. I was planning on using the dynamic bow as an adept, but didn't know if different arrow ratings would mess that up.
>>
>>53641986
>When attacking with a bow, a character whose Strength is less than the Rating suffers a –3 dice pool modifier per point below the minimum.
>The weapon’s Rating is also used to determine its range and damage (maximum Rating is 10).
>>Use the lowest value of your Strength, the bow’s rating, or the arrow Rating for range and damage when attacking a target.
>>
>>53642212
Thank you! Maybe you can answer another question, do injection arrows cause any additional damage?
>>
Player of mine wants to take "Deductive Reasoning" Sherlock Holmes style as a knowledge skill. I'm conflicted as to whether this isn't specific enough or is just fine. I'm also confused what one would separate it into if it needed more specificity. What do you guys think?
>>
>>53637705
Either a bounty hunter or a body guard. She has a background in corporate security so it'd probably be the closest and most realistic occupation for her.
>>
>>53642329
He'd need at least 7 log and exceptional attribute log for that I'd say. There's a reason not every detective is Sherlock Holmes.

But if they do that, sure, let them have it as a knowledge skill.
>>
>>53642329
That sounds more like an Ability than a Skill.
>>
>>53642329
>An injection bolt causes the same damage as a regular arrow or bolt, but also includes a payload of one dose of a drug or toxin. Effects depend on the drug payload, but to successfully deliver it, the attack must deal at least one box of damage after the Damage Resistance Test.
>>53642329
Depends on how the player wants to use it, really. At first blush it sounds like the kind of thing that you'd try to use as a catch-all to do whatever you want instead of taking specific skills. Sort of like how you get players that try to use Street Life to justify anything related to Shadowrunning.

If I had to allow it for some reason, I'd probably set a high threshold before you started accruing net hits. Maybe tell him to take the Common Sense quality instead and use that for his mental ability?
>>
>>53641262
Idk, but people in the third world are probably using Toyota Hiluxs as techanicals in the 2060s.
>>
>>53642329
That's "Perception", or "Forensics" as a Knowledge skill. If he puts enough points in and has enough INT or LOG, then he'll get enough hits for a Sherlock-style deduction. Have him take the Analytical Mind quality if he wants a boost, but he shouldn't get super-metahuman capabilities just by naming his skill all fancy.
>>
>>53642329
Why not let him be an adept with that 3d memory ability? Since sherlock usually visited the crime scene when he tried to use deductive reasoning. Have him snag that, get high ranks in judge intentions, high ranks in perception, and maybe the adept enhanced senses traits for smell, touch and taste.
What I would also suggest is instead of a deductive reasoning knowledge, tell him to have high logic and spread out to multiple knowledges. Have him know wine, showings, clothing, parazoo, poisons, tons of single ranks in different fields of study. Then just have lower dice necessary for exceptional successes to balance his smaller pools in those knowledges.

Tell him to get a mentor spirit that can serve as his watson too, for the full experience

Can't get anything above 12 availability without Restricted Gear, and a lot of mods bump up the availablity rating of pieces of gear/ware. IIRC you can get those super-limbs, but not as alphaware (because that bumps up Avail, along with the mods, above 12).

I'd go with Perception (Searching) to dig up clues, Forensics to recognize that something IS a clue, and if you're feeling generous, LOG+INT plus whatever analytical qualities or powers you decide count for "Deductive Reasoning." Because while you have the right to play someone smarter than you, relying on the dice to carry you leaves you at the mercy of narrative tension.

Oi Yekka. in (at least the latest, 5.193.78) version of chummer, in create mode, when you have an adept/magician/techno and you burn out for 1 point of ess, it drops your special stat down to 4 - it not only applies the maxvalue down to 5, but it then imposes another (1) augment onto it, so you end up as being treated as at mag/reso 4 for even .1 essence loss. how fix.
>>
>>53642769
>>53647871
Er, (-1) augment obviously

Furthermore, via testing and adding a datajack for .1 ess loss, it took a resonance 7 technomancer down to 5(3) with TWO "Essence (-1)" listings.
>>
I need to teach my players common sense. Anyone have any mission ideas to do that?
They're low level runners but wouldn't think twice about taking a high profile assassination mission. One idea I have is doing exactly that and screw them over. But I'll need more than that so that the experience sticks.

>shit etiquette

You're a retard.
>allergy, common, mild (seafood)
No, fuck off, you're not getting that much karma for something you can easily avoid when everything is made of soy. That's an uncommon allergy if anything.
I can't even bother to check your gear, since it's probably all sorts of fucked.
I'll give you 2 points out of 10.
>>
>>53648132
>when everything is made of soy
everything is made of soy, krill and mycoprotein
unless you take special precautions that soyburger will contain (traces of) seafood, which will trigger the allergy

The rest I agree with you, but Allergy(Seafood) is basically Allergy(Food), unless you take a lot of precautions
>>
>>53648173
Alright, if seafood counts krill and not just shellfish etc., then I guess it's fine.
>>
What does arrow rating do? New to bows and chummer shows no dmg increase for higher levels
>>
>>53648132
>buying specs at skill rating 1
>Fucking idiot.
Not that guy, but it's going to give more dice than a second rank in the skill, albeit in a narrower field, and in-game a single spec takes a whole fucking month.

>Specializations for skills take 1 month of dedicated training to learn and cannot be learned at the same time as anything else.
>>
>>53648446
Arrow rating and Bow rating; use the lower of the two when attacking.
>>
>>53648450
Specialisations are in no way worth the point cost at low rank, they take a whole skillpoint or 7 karma. Just buy skills at rank 2 if using karma, and if using points, use them to bump your primary skills even higher.

I'd much rather have perception at 6 than have a spec on bikes and urban stealth.
>>
>>53648465
But a lower arrow rating doesn't show as less damage. Do you mean that I'd say you're using a 10 rating bow but use a rating 5 arrow, that you calculate as if a 5 bow?
>>
>>53648657
see
>>53642212

basically if your STR<Rating you get a -3*(Rating-STR) penalty on your roll
>>
>>53648465
But a lower arrow rating doesn't show as less damage. Do you mean that I'd say you're using a 10 rating bow but use a rating 5 arrow, that you calculate as if a 5 bow?
>>
>>53648796
yes
if you don't want a penalty then both bow and shaft have to have a rating equal to or higher than your STR
>>
>>53647871
>>53647899
I'm currently halfway through idiotically rebuilding the gear section so that the XSD template can get linked properly without throwing up errors on build which I can then leverage to enable making custom items directly in Chummer

I should be able to get it sorted out soon.
>>53648796
>>53648446
Chummer currently doesn't know/care about bows and arrows. It's on my to-do list when I get around to properly implementing an ammo class, but until then it's something you have to track manually.

In most cases, the recommendation is that you buy bows and arrows that are the same as your standard strength. If you intend to regularly take temporary strength enhancements while firing your bow, buy arrows that are the highest strength you expect to achieve and use those.
>>
>>53648838
You're the guy making chummer?
Is it intentional that all magic skills disappear from the skill list when you change the creation priorities?
>>
>>53648871
It's not intended, but I haven't built a replacement for it yet. Use the Special > Reapply Improvements menu option to restore it.
>>
How do you guys feel about a campaign that starts with the players breaking out of a testing facility during a chance afforded by another running team?
>>
>>53649539
sounds cool
>>
>>53649539
How about making one of the player be among the team breaking the other players out, then have his teammates get killed or captured?

Would work really well if there's one experienced player and all others are noobs, I feel.
>>
>>53649539
Sounds cool. Non-standard campaign starts are always fun.
Another campaign starter I heard was for a Desert Wars campaign where the players play a relatively new team for a minor A corp, starting with two or so "friendly" matches before the main tournament starts, and they have an NPC "mentor" who shows the new guys the ropes on how to win, but in the last friendly before the main season the opposing team plays dirty and end up killing NPC dude, who (hopefully) the players ought to care about to a degree at this point. It's not an accident, but the other team plays it off as one and get off scott free due to being a bigger name team. Once the lots get drawn for the round of 16 (or 32) it turns out the players and the rival team are on opposite sides of the board, leading to a scenario where the only way to get a crack at these heavily guarded (Ares? Aztecnology?) combat monsters is in the full on lethal final match.

Seemed like it could be a cool campaign with a decent mix of combat scenarios, outside the ring shit flinging, PR management, and subterfuge to sabotage other teams.
>>
>>53648514
That's assuming you don't have Perception 6 & spec already, and a few spare points to throw around.
>>
>>53650060
Look at the charsheet. He doesn't.
>>
>>53650011
Adding onto this, it might be cool if the stakes got higher each match. Desert wars is all non-lethal until the final, but there still needs to be a level of escalation. For example, maybe placing an availability limit on the lower matches for gear you can use ('ware would need to be powered off if it exceeded the limit) that gets higher each match (So it starts at something like 6-8 with the final being 24). Players would get "credits" awarded for doing well in matches and could then use those to "rent" gear or ware at listed price for the remainder of the tournament (with old gear able to be exchanged), without needing to roll a negotiate test to find it as it's being offered by Desert Wars Arsenal Inc™
So the first match you have stuff like ingrams and crappy decks, but in the final you've got railguns and milspec and rockets, oh my!
It would also make it more "fair" in that well funded teams with the best gear wouldn't autowin, and get viewers more hyped as the tournament goes on, from an IC sense.

Of course, players could always try to smuggle their own gear or buy their own stuff into the match...
>>
>>53650304
To stop mages/adepts from being hugely advantageous at the start you could also impose a force/PP limit, with overseeing magical referees assensing people during and before the match, physical drones recording, and deckers checking that illegal ware is deactivated.
>>
>>53650304
>>53650445
Good luck deactivating bioware.

>>53637705
He used to be a stunt double, presumably he'd like to go back to that.
>>
Question for you lot. Chummer's old attribute system didn't handle Essence loss in what I'd consider to be a good way. In large part that was due to how SR4 managed it. Anyway, with the refresh I can decouple some of the weirder behaviour, like how Essence Loss wasn't a reduction to the actual statistic, it was just a penalty that used shenanigans to make itself into a maximum modifier.

Anyway, fallout from this is that I'm not super enthused about preserving the old logic that was used to render that behaviour. How important is it for you guys to see that ESS penalty on the attribute itself?
>>53647899
This should be fixed in the next build. +- 10 minutes.
>>
>>53650508
That'd be where the assensing mage ref would come in, and impose a handicap at lower levels (if he detected the bioware/nobody else managed to figure out how that human just snapped a troll in two with moving at mach 3 with no drugs or 'ware)
>>
>>53650637
It's important for vampires because their essence fluctuates depending on how many people they've eaten today and it's nice to remember what my magic was before I had to fast cuz of lent or whatever.

I tried to build the character based on their backstory

retired driver, bodyguard, and leg-breaker for a crime boss. who has been traveling the beautiful, dangerous, and balkanized north American continent in a modded mobile home.

He ran out of money in Denver and his vehicle was impounded so he took a job offered by a Johnson for some quick cash.

good at hiding small things, weapons, and booze both on himself and in his environment (bought the extra knifes to hide around the camper shell and cab of his truck)
>>
Is there really any 'ware options to up body? My troll is kind of noodly for being a troll
>>
>>53652512
Bone lacing adds its rating in armour and also adds its rating to your body for the purposes of damage soak tests.
Cyberlimbs add extra condition monitor boxes (and armour)
There's some other bioware to increase toxin res
That's mostly all you'd use body for, but IIRC the only real way to raise the body stat is with Improved Physical Attribute, attribute boost adept power, or attribute boost magic
So basically load your troll up with cyberarms and bone lacing, hope you picked resources A.
>>
>>53652512
The only other option that the guy didn't mention is the Suprathyroid Gland, but thats a relatively awful solution. Its not easy to raise BOD itself for mundanes, you're gonna have to start lifting.
>>
>>53650655
How do you handicap a lot of the 'ware, anyways? Tell the dude with the pain editor to pretend bullets hurt, or the chick woth muscle toner to only flex 66.6% as hard as she could?

For some of them it makes sense, but a lot simply can't not be used, without going supermeta and doing a version of the character without it.
>>
>>53648114
Anyone?
>>
>>53654071
By handicap I meant it'd probably affect their team as a whole or buff the other team slightly.
Eg: since your biosam can't turn off his muscles and synaptic accelerator, their razorboy gets to turn on his WR3, or they get a small headstart in the arena, etc etc
Also, IIRC pain editors can be turned off.
>>
>>53654274
>>53648114
The reason runners have fixers is so they don't take jobs out of their league and get killed instantly, so just tossing them a high profile job out of the blue that you know they'll fuck up is just going to A) not make sense unless their fixer is retarded and B) probably get them pissed at you.
Have a few runs where the Johnson does some legwork for them (eg, I can provide a keycard and map) then wean them off of it until they just pick up legwork on their own.

Alternatively, tell one of them to take/give one of them the common sense quality.
>>
>>53648514
Now I know you're disabled, but try to bear with me here.
Specialization
>grants 2 dice
>costs 1 skill point, or
>costs 7 karma

It is -always- more efficient to specialize than increase the skill when spending skill points. Further, if you have Rating 1 in the skill, it is also more efficient to specialize than buy two more rating, and the efficiency improves drastically at every increase in rating.
>>
>>53650637
Anything changing a stat from base should be illustrated IMO. Another example is REA being reduced due to having too much armor checked in the gear tab. Being able to track that stuff down is helpful for sanity checking a build.

You can save points by switching the dominant arm the cyberarm and ditching Ambidextrous.
Ditch implanted commlink unless you're set on it for style purposes.
A taser will get a lot more mileage than a stun dongle.
Firearms license would be useful.
Gold and Plat credsticks are overkill.
Drop first aid and buy a savior medkit.
Pilot Ground probably doesn't need to be that high.

Berserker’s followers have very short fuses. Whenever someone strongly disagrees with you (gamemaster’s discretion), you must pass a Charisma + Willpower (3) Test to keep from striking out against the offender. If the test fails, the attack can be in any form you choose (fist, spell, etc.), but it must have the intent to cause damage.

I think it would be fine as long as Infected characters could still see the penalty noted somewhere. Otherwise I don't think it would be terribly disruptive just for the player to make a note that they had X Magic originally.

Betel as presented is a synthesized chewing gum and Snuff is typically put together from the chemicals found in the natural components. Since I doubt the gland is forming plant matter in the body, it has to be doing some kind of biological synthesis to produce the active chemicals of even naturally occurring compounds like intended, but where is it drawing the resources to form these compounds? No matter how natural it may be, you're not naturally producing nicotine.

The natural compounds limitation is just balancing fluff, but they don't give a list of natural compounds to make it worthwhile.

At the point where a qi focus of Astral Perception would turn off, you're also starting to take a fairly significant dice penalty to your assensing.

And you don't have any real easy way to get rid of that -4 (minimum) penalty. Now, granted with the right Ways and metamagics, you can knock those down in the right circumstances, but it's not as good as being used to that BC.

Also, it depends on what your adept's normal job is. If you had the Warrior's Way, for instance, you probably used your Astral Perception to make it even harder to hide from you.

>No matter how natural it may be, you're not naturally producing nicotine.

It's not natural, it's organic chemistry. You don't naturally produce chlorophyll either, but there's 'ware that lets you produce it organically. Nicotine is just carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen; you already get niacin (one of the two key structures that combine to make nicotine) through B3 complex, which is in a ton of foods, and there are already human enzymes that methylate compounds (important in producing the other structure).

It's not impossible to surmise, at least in broad strokes, which compounds could be produced organically by looking at which are produced already by organic methods or are explicitly mentioned are deriving from natural processes.

Duct tape, Atleast one flashbang, Atleast one stun weapon, Commlink, Trauma Slap Patches, a set of clothes and a spare set of clothes, Backpack/Duffelbag, 40-60 creds on a stick for food and other small items, And few knives would be the most important probably.
Flashbangs are great, you can drop them while running without needing to roll for it unless the DM is mean and it'll help a lot with losing pursuers.
Duct tape has a million and one uses and is fuckin duct tape.
A taser is the kind of weapon you can take almost anywhere without overmuch complaint, And is handy for taking someone out before they can scream without making a shitton of noise.
Knives are cheap and also quite useful, Probably almost as many uses for a knife as duct tape.
The rest is more or less just ideas for what to spend some nuyen on.

Alright, based on where you're at (and assuming standard 750 karmagen), you've got 207 karma and about 80 grand left to spend.

You're definitely under performing or mediocre in about everything that you're trying to do. I would keep skills in groups if possible as they will serve you better than going a la carte. I'd break them when you hit 4 or so.

I'd lose the dermal sheath/bone lacing unless it's part of your story, as the cost benefit isn't there for the protection you get. Get reaction enhancers for a higher pool in your driving skills. Get muscle augmentation+toner for better stat bumps to help with skills.

Put points in dodge and perception (I don't know why you don't have them). Do contacts instead of glasses with the image/smart link and flare compensation, save the glasses for vision enhancement/magnification. Save the money you spent on the car and have that worked out with your GM as a plot goal since you're starting with it impounded.

I could go on to the gear, but whatever floats your boat.

His parents were corporate, and he found all of his siblings annoying, so he went full thrill-seeker and cut all ties. Became a drug smuggler because it allowed him to travel from Seattle to Hong Kong and the rides there were always awesome. Got hooked on the craziest drug he could reliably get his hands on. Got a 60 year sentence due to a shopping list of charges, and was put in, sure he was never going to see the light of day again.

While in prison, he sort of fell into the whole metahuman gang mentality of "Us versus Them," where even though he didn't have any ill will towards metas, the hardcore hate groups offered great protection. So he put up a facade. Turns out though, prison hate groups require you to shed blood to get protection, so he did. Made friends with the human guards and got a couple of extensions to his sentence. After 9 years in prison fighting orcs and trolls every other day, he started to truly believe the human supremacist rhetoric. Out of the blue, his well connected little brother who's the fixer of the campaign I'm currently running pulls some strings to get him out of prison, but then leaves him to his own devices.

He's got Ex-Con, Criminal SIN, Kamikaze addiction, Prejudice Metahumans, the whole nine yards. Lucky for me, the whole party is humans, so I don't have to deal with the race issue. I play him as a wise beyond his years realist. He joined the party as a recommendation because they thought he was just another hired gun, but he's really a jack-of-all trade, surprising most of the people that he works with. Despite his background and disposition, he's seen as one of the voices of reason in the party - the other one being an Orthodox Christian priest. He also handles dealing with more unsavory low-lifes in manners that they understand.

Basically, it requires large amounts of DM fiat or generosity to get off the ground. Either you take the Latent for cheap and then get the features for expensive (and also are relying on the GM to tell you when you first change) or you have to accept how much of your starting karma the GM is willing to let you keep to start with the full Drake quality.

And you don't get to change until you pay off what you owe, which is probably going to be a few sessions minimum outside of karma builds.

And even then, karma builds probably have better to spend stuff on.
>>
>>53667731
>These tables don't add up.
What do you mean?
>>
>>53667935
>The high Karma cost for this quality need not be paid completely during character generation, but the balance must be paid with earned Karma during the campaign before the character is able to shift into dracoform for the first time.
Nothing there says the balance cannot be Chargen:0, In-game: 75. If the GM is getting in the way of that, they're house ruling it.

>And you don't get to change until you pay off what you owe
You *do* have access to the awesome Draconic tradition. Even if you never pay off the Drake quality, that's worth the price of access ... a quality you might pay off at some point.
>>
>>53668109
Like I said, though, that's basically GM generosity. Although letting 0 go is, to my read of the wording of Drake, definite fiat territory.

Although that tradition does offer power, again. The worth is all about how little the GM is willing to let you pay.
>>
>>53668109
Just a nitpick, but if you're only paying 0 karma, you don't actually have the quality.

I'd need you to put down at least 1 point of Karma on it.
>>
>>53668060
The custom drug cost addiction rating and addiction threshold are both unfinished and completely fucked up.

They have asterisks in place of numbers and the example they give doesn't match at all.
>>
>>53668319
Since you don't get any benefit for the Drake quality if you pay 0 karma but still suffer from the Wanted negative quality, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to pay 0 karma for it. You're effectively accepting a -10 negative quality until you can pay 75 karma to remove it. That's a really bad trade.
>>
>>53668445
You actually can't buy it off (and get no karma for Wanted).

If you're unaligned, lots of dragons will be interested in making you aligned.

If you serve, well, your master's enemies still probably want your head or to try forcing a conversion, or even just reagents from you.

So you'll probably have that until everyone has far more pressing and less negotiable matters to deal with.
>>
>>53668445
>Don't get any benefit from the Drake quality
>You *do* have access to the awesome Draconic tradition. Even if you never pay off the Drake quality, that's worth the price of access ... a quality you might pay off at some point.

Pick. One.
>>
>>53668345
The logic seems to be this:
Block Level 1 +0 Addiction Threshold
Block Level 2 +1 Addiction Threshold
Block Level 3 +2 Addiction Threshold

1 Block +0 Addiction Rating
2 Blocks +1 Addiction Rating
3 Blocks +2 Addiction Rating
>>
>>53639954
Submerge, blow karma on +1 res, buy ware, put machine sprites in it.

At 6 res with your sprites you're a upper mid range decker and cybercombat monster, anyways.
>>
How do I teach my players common sense without giving them the quality?
>>
>>53668595
You don't teach common sense through anything but pain and failure.
>>
>>53668568
So say I got a machine Sprite to put Diagnostics into my own Wired Reflexes (run wireless on with Reaction Enhancers). Would I then add the bonus from Diagnostics to both the Initiative bonus and Reaction attribute bonus?
>>
>>53668624
Ask your DM, i really can't say.
>>
>>53668632
Will do, because rules as written this turns Technomancers into some kind of Technoadept that can run rings around everyone else.
>>
>>53668643
One of the many reasons Technomancers and their fuckery are bullshit that should never have been introduced into the game.
>>
>>53668643
Machine sprites and ware can very regularly make the techno the most competent party member.
>>
>>53668624
Given the wording as a Teamwork Test, the closest reading would give you the dice and limit bonus to any die pools that rolled using Reaction or Initiative, up to your skill or higher attribute if you're rolling two attributes.

A more permissive reading would let you get the dice bonus or the initiative bonus as though you'd been Rallied.
>>
>>53668624
>each hit adds 1 die to the character’s dice pool to use or repair the item
Seems unlikely, since the reaction attribute bonus isn't a dicepool and +1 init die per hit on a teamwork test would be fucking insane.
Your DM might throw you a bone in the interests of making technos a little less shit though, so give it a try.
>>
>>53668643
>>53668665
Also wanting to correct myself here. >>53668674

A close reading only gives you the bonus to (likely) reaction linked tests and skills. If the GM says Initiative is also an attribute, then you get the dice bonus in any Initiative+other attribute or skill tests.

This would exclude the Initiative test that gives you your initiative score for the turn because the Initiative Dice aren't an attribute or skill, and so a Teamwork Test can't help.

If the GM's being lenient, then they might let you use the Teamwork test of Diagnostics the same as a Rally from a Leadership test. Which is still nice, but far less powerful.

So you're probably not a Technoadept unless you spam your abilities, but it might give you a few extra defense dice. And it's still less OP than summoning.
>>
>>53668785
All seems pretty cool.

Does anyone else have any good Technomancer combos they can think of? I've already read the forum post that is linked here every time someone mentions them.
>>
>>53668866
If you're already most of the way to being an Elf Technomancer Assassin, consider getting Profiler and whistling up a sprite that can help with your Matrix Search. It won't make you a good face, but you already had Cha 8, so you might as well get a little extra out of it for not a whole lot of loss.

If you don't want to petnomance, be on a team with a decker or AI. Both have a love for Cleaner, and other forms besides.

Just either get skinlink or a datajack so that you can directly connect and ignore noise penalties even more.

If you get a cyberarm, make sure to put a rating 5 sensor or sensor array. Do an active Sensor attack while under Diagnostics (remember, metahumans give a -3) and hope for a good roll.
>>
>>53636023

Would Infinity work as the basis system for a Shadowrun miniature comvat game?
>>
Does escape death work in all situations?
>>
>>53668906
>If you don't want to petnomance

Then don't play technomancer. That's basically their entire shtick. Maybe ask the GM for something (like extra... what are they called? Submersions?) for putting a harder limit on your sprite spam to get your concept that doesn't involve pets online faster.
>>
>>53668998
With the fading decrease, it's just barely possible to get around using your powers. Other than the bits that aren't quite covered and the bits that are arguable.

So given the questions, if the GM's not willing to be exploratory or has some very strict readings of things, you're probably going to be support, unless you also have lots of edge. But you may want that anyway just because you're so much more fragile than a decker and/or you're abusing Puppeteer shamelessly.

And even with the fading changes, that one's still a hefty pill to swallow if you're breaking through the limits.
>>
>>53668319
>Just a nitpick, but if you're only paying 0 karma, you don't actually have the quality.
Not a nitpick. If anything, you might call that a quibble, and a misplaced one.

You have accepted a 75 karma debt, and have also chosen the Draconic tradition - something you could only do after accepting that debt.
>>
>>53668472
>If you serve, well, your master's enemies still probably want [...] even just reagents from you.
Dragons and drakes have been seriously fucking up anyone even vaguely related to the trade of draconic reagents, and very effectively, too. Anyone left over in the business is very cautious, very well protected, and not making themselves well known.

>>
>>53669298
It usually involves killing or stealing from a dragon.
>>
>>53669360
How's that relevant in the 2070's?
>>
>>53669298
Ritual links. You get the dna of a dragon and you can target it with spells from the other side of the planet.

There's also the risk that someone will learn how to clone a dragon, or manufacture drakes.

Also a lot of dangerous magical stuff can be made using dragon reagents. These could be used to speed up the return of magic, and risk bridging the chasm to the Horror's even faster.

In short, dragons have very good reasons to stop the sale of dragon-parts.

Basically what happened is we were trying to get through to an incredibly rich and gated community which had it's own security company and an equivalent of a border crossing, and while we had forged residence passes (with proper biometrics and everything) but our ride was incredibly out of place (a GMC bulldog) and our motley crew of a pixie, two humans, a dwarf, and an elf in a trenchcoat didn't really fit in with the native population.
The guard asked if we were new arrivals since he definitely would have remembered us before, and the Pixie slipped up by mentioning we were "hired on contractors" despite our paperwork saying we were residents (and the scanner rolled 5 hits against our fake IDs), so we got sent aside for screening.
At which point we got sent into an interrogation room where I (social decker) and our face managed to make a big lie about how we were "Home Improvement Specialists" who "Worked to purchase real estate and improve it's value and provide a superior living space to our clients" ie houseflippers. With a couple of lucky con rolls and memory tests for some of the data on our passes (where we lived) and an explanation as for why all of us were living in the same house ("Our motto is: We wouldn't sell you a home we ourselves wouldn't want to live in.") we managed to get through.
It helped that we were all pretty polite to the interrogator, who seemed to be LARPing as a detective, complete with the brown pants, cup of coffee, jacket over the chair, and a leather shoulder holster.
>>
>>53671860
That sounds like some fast thinking. If it went as smooth as you suggest I'd give bonus karma for coming up with such a plausible cover story, despite the initial screw-up.
>>
>>53671953
A decent amount of it was due to some edge use on our faces part and good memory tests (to both remember where our passes said we lived, and see if we could remember a prominent family who lived on the island to list as our sponsor for residence)
And as it turns out, a shadowrunning group actually has a decent set of overlapping skills with home improvement.
>Our pixie rigger handles drones installing plumbing, cleaning, painting, etc
>The biosam dwarf handles all the heavy lifting
>The sneeki breeki elf does most of the roofwork

I have a player who is using two weapons (with the martial art) to attack with both at the same time. I've already added the reach, and DV from that.

He says, it should be 12P (combat knife) + 13P (other combat knife) which makes sense to me. RAW is pretty ambiguous, and only mentions the +1DV to the "longer weapon"
I'm thinking split the dice-pool like a normal double attack.

Am I retarded?

The two-handed weapon style is meant to be used with a 1 reach weapon and a 0 reach weapon, like a sword and a knife. You lose the reach bonus of the sword but gain 1 accuracy and +1dv instead. Two combat knives doesn't work properly. I think the long fineblade in RG has a reach of 1. Use that paired with the combat knife of your choice and it'll work mechanically.

If both knives have a reach of 0, it's fucked. Though you can use the rule that if you have two 0 reach weapons and you're attacking, you increase the reach to 1.
>>
>>53673880
I know that. I just fluffed it that one of the combat knives was the short one, and one the long one.

You roll it as a single attack using the reach of the shorter weapon and 1+ the Accuracy & DV of the longer weapon.
>>
>>53673758
You treat the two weapons as one. As in, you get one attack with the shorter of the two reach, and +1 Damage and Accuracy of the longer weapon.

So, yeah. Considering you managed to miss that whole 'treated as ONE weapon', you're retarded.
