Wow, you guys are so quick to discard 30 years worth of Space Marines in favor of some borderline heretical vatgrown oversized n00bs in tacticool gear who everyone knows are going to turn traitor as GW continues to "advance" the storyline. Makes me wonder if you ever liked 40k in the first place.

That is exactly right. A whole crusade's worth of instant shake and bake supermarines appearing overnight is stupid writing.
>>
>>53559029
>A whole crusade's worth of instant shake and bake supermarines appearing overnight is stupid writing.

They didn't suddenly appear though, they've been in storage.
>>
>>53559103
>They didn't suddenly appear though, they've been in storage.

A retcon to explain their absence so far. That's even worse writing. If Cawl had somehow died in the whole Cadian disaster what would have happened to all those supersoldiers he had hidden away? How did he keep it all hidden away anyway?

GW has opted to go balls deep with the "dramatic plot twists" in place of logical progression of events.
>>
>>53559284
>A retcon to explain their absence so far.

It's not a retcon though, nothing was changed to fit them in.

>If Cawl had somehow died in the whole Cadian disaster what would have happened to all those supersoldiers he had hidden away?

What does it matter?

>How did he keep it all hidden away anyway?

Again, what does it matter? The setting is full of hidden shit. Remember the time a tech priest unearthed a bunch of missiles that allowed him to blow up stars? A secret space marine facility is not even far fetched.
>>
>>53559365
You don't need to rewrite something for it to be recon, dummy. By saying "Oh they were always there" they are engaging in the oldest kind of retcon, the kind that just adds something that wasn't there until the present needed it to have always been there.
>>
>>53560141
>You don't need to rewrite something for it to be recon, dummy.

You really do, else nothing can have an origin older than the newest point of a story.
>>
>>53559365
>Again, what does it matter? The setting is full of hidden shit. Remember the time a tech priest unearthed a bunch of missiles that allowed him to blow up stars? A secret space marine facility is not even far fetched.

Even the Emperor couldn't keep his most secret projects under wraps, yet this techpriest managed to grow a crusade's worth of supermarines without anybody finding out.

I would have preferred it if they slowly phased out the old marines and replaced the entire line with big marines over time, instead of forcing the Primaris into the setting. It might "screw over" marine players in the short term, but the Primaris are going to wind up replacing marines as well. If they're so easy to create compared to the Emperor's marines, regular marines will become extinct as pretty much all the new replacements will be Primaris. Outside of 30k, I wouldn't expect to see many new releases for regular marines, while the Primaris range will grow steadily.
>>
>>53561060
>Even the Emperor couldn't keep his most secret projects under wraps

But he did.

>yet this techpriest managed to grow a crusade's worth of supermarines without anybody finding out.

A crusade is of no fixed size, and isn't composed of Primaris Marines exclusively either.

>I would have preferred it if they slowly phased out the old marines and replaced the entire line with big marines over time

That's what they're doing.

Thats pretty much stating they'll reach the English speaking market eventually. I'd buy these Marines with actually dynamic poses pretty quickly.

SM get so much cool stuff, I wish I collected them.

My brother plays ultramarines and he's got a huge army and alot of old OOP units, but he just slaps them together, paints them like slop, doesn't clean mold lines and doesn't care about interesting poses. Makes me feel sick. I'd buy him a set like this buy I know he woudn't give a shit.
