One of my favourite books growing up was 'A Natural History of the Unnatural World'.

I'm not actually a marine biologist (or a biologist, for that matter; I'm a geologist and engineering student, with longstanding interest in paleontology and marine biology). But that doesn't sound very mammal-like to me. Most fish have external fertilization, so the female lays ufertilized eggs and the male ejeculates on them.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm pretty sure this picture contains one of the best images of a gulper eel skull on the internet. Which says less about my artistic skills (which are nonexistent) and more about how really fucking hard it was to find a reference picture. The best I found was a blurry scan from some marine biology textbook, which I tried to reproduce as closely as I could.
