What's your character's drink of choice?
Fine Caar Whiskey? Indescribable swill the engineer made in the reactor room? The classic Gargle Blaster?
Speaking of space alcohol, would wine from other planets taste different? Fancy wine folk talk about a wine's terroir, how it tastes like where it's from. Would space wine have a different terroir? Could certain planets' wine be desirable on the interstellar market? The same goes for other fancy food like cheeses and shit.
I'm just wondering if stuff like that would make a viable trade good?

Blood Stouts and the like. Pure, liquid carnal bliss.

Oooh, stuff like whisky and other hard alchohols could ferment in transit!

There is only one drink that is appropriate for an agent of a secret society that controls American politics from behind the scenes.

>Torpedo juice is a thing
I don't see the reason to limit yourself to something as basic as alcohol once you're spacefaring. The Culture had the right idea, with genofixed drug glands in your brain and sniffable pouches of all kinds of stuff.

Spacer's Whiskey, Rum, and Vodka are certainly "acquired tastes".
Most Dirtsiders'll says it's more like Stockholm Syndrome than actual preference, but spacers know different.

I'm more thinking in terms of a more romantic/comprehensible space society. Speciality drugs are the most valuable produce of some worlds, but thing thing is the tech being common is that anyone could theoretically produce them

I mean that if every sufficiently advanced world can produce near-perfect pleasure drugs then there's no need for trade for such things, which is generally bad for space settings
Sap cider. It's an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented sap of a tree that only grows on tidally locked planets. It tastes much like cider, with hints of cinnamon and vanilla.

Ah yes, spacer's Vodka. Cut with rocket fuel to make it drinkable.

If you're drinking something that can't be used in at least one of the ship's engines then you're probably a Well walla and should streak out the nearest airlock asap
