Mk. 8 is literally the only mark that's come out since the end of the Horus Heresy. Mk. 7 debuted at the Siege of Terra.

It's certainly wrong to say that technology in the Imperium never progresses, but it certainly blackslides faster and more often, in more areas, than areas that push forward. Also the only time they did any kind of major tinkering with the gene-seed ended in a "cursed" founding.

GK use Aegis suits that were made during the Heresy and look somewhat like MkVI variants (MkVI being used by the Knights-Errant, the forerunners of the GK) where as DW have Mk8. Mk9 doesn't exist.

You are pushing a hair splitting argument based on "it wasn't CALLED the next mark, so it isn't!". And no, SoB armor isn't a space marine armor mark because it's not space marine armor, it has it's own lineage.

And the vambraces, and the helmet (with the most advanced ballistic augurs) and the backpack (most effective generator) and the greaves, and the tassets, and the better protected cabling... But yeah, other than that, it's like MkVII.

If you look at the Deathwatch releases you can actually see the fine details between Aquila and Errant armor more easily.

Errant has the gorget, more streamlined backpack, different ankles, and I think the arms are a little different as well.

Honestly, the Primaris helmets with their smooth-down ears look close to concept art Errant helmets but with a Maximus faceplate.
