Well goblins are cowardly, right? then nothing.
So long as the party keeps an eye on him he'll never try to run. I would expect exorbitant amounts of groveling doing only the bare minimum all the time, likely cowering if put in combat instead of attacking but never betraying the party unless he's positive they would lose (and the bad's would grant him amnesty).
If he needs a bit of background story, he might come from a long line of enslaved goblins but would immediately change subject or do something else before ending any of his forefathers stories (as to leave out all the backstabbing, poisonings, running awayinings things that always happen).
