Running multiple marine armies is easy (rules-wise) if you just paint them as successor chapters or non-codex chapters and use the main SM rules. You could easily make a donut steel chapter that uses Blood Angels rules if you wanted to and then just remove the BA stuff from your list to do vanilla marines. Chaos can also do this extremely easily - you can just take out the daemons out of a KDK list and play them as bog standard CSM or paint up your own warband and suddenly you can run any legion rules with almost no issue. Hell, you could even use regular marine kits for CSM and just say your warband's recently turned, or vice-versa with the loyalist dexes.

Judging by what they've been doing, they'll probably finish revamping the other cults during 8th and maybe even some of the other legions. Berzerkers and noise marines of all sorts soon.

I did briefly collect a small Tau force for a Tale of 4 Gamers event my FLGS was running, and I even completed up 1850 points of it. I chose Tau because I reasoned that it was the polar opposite of Orks. The event finished and ever since then that army has been sitting in my display case gathering dust. I just have no desire to play it.

There's just something about Orks. Nothing else comes close to them.

The Genestealer Cults upgrade sprue is a worthwhile stopgap in the time being. File down the forehead ridges a little and it's golden for cultists.

The really memorable R&H armies involve lots of conversion and mixing different kits rather than just using the FW stuff like your pic related, although Enforcers do look amazing.

I wanted to make a Blood Angels chapter called Angels Ascendant who used Iron Hands chapter tactics because I kind of liked shooting more than assaulting, also that way I'd get access to the regular SM codex.

The story would be they've found a way to drastically reduce the occurrence of the Black Rage (original, I know) and because of their more calm demeanor it made them experts with bolters (thus explaining the reroll on To Hits of 1). The problem is after I got started in the hobby I became really busy and can't find time or motivation to paint so over half my shit is unpainted, I can't afford new models to fill in the numerous gaps my relatively small army has, and since I can only at best play one game per week with someone who understands the game way less than I do it can be pretty difficult. It'll take us over an hour just to set up a game and even a 1,000 point game takes us hours because we constantly have to check rules and google stuff.

I'm hoping once 8th ed comes out I can just start over and learn the game the right way instead of the strange broken way my friend and I play.

Your friend has quickly accepted the boon to all nurgle painters that is drybrushing. Your first dudes are not bad, honestly. You look like you're thinning your paints. You'll get there. You might wanna try doing some recess washing with a small brush into the cracks of the armor to add depth (slathering on wash is a no no for flat armor surfaced marines with bright colors like red).

A small, slowly growing (as I start to buy more models), very basic Thousand Sons warband. Haven't put much thought into it yet, though I have quite a few tzaangors and plan on getting a ton of rubrics later on. Only going to have one squad of SOTs for quite some time, most likely. All very simple stuff so far. Using the basic color scheme too.
Haven't even thought up a warband name or anything, though I feel like I'm leading myself into a certain direction with how all my exalted sorcerers have more of the bird related items and how I plan on using quite a number of flamers (though I'll have to wait till 8th to see just how much I'll emphasize upon them). Any suggestions? I can't name anything for shit, and the only name I can think of sounds terrible to me.
No ideas on fluff yet. I'll think of something though, of course taking into account the armies my friends play.

Not him but I assume it helps with making the colors blend and make the sickness and guts look more natural. Also seeing as they're probably veterans fighting for over 10k years, their armor might look better faded and swampy as opposed to vibrant and colorful.

I wish I had a better example for you, but the gribbly sorceror here on the left you can see how many nice raised edges there are to just catch with drybrush techniques. Guts, sores, cracks in armor, rough skin/skins, etc. The resin plague marines are probably some of the most easily drybushable guys out there to just get ez but effective results.

I really want a lot of red, white, and gold... A LOT of gold for my models. Unfortunately this was about the best I could manage although I have a tendency to smoke cigarettes or drink booze while painting that makes me rush things. I really want to smoke weed and get my artistic side going but right now I'm clean in order to get a better job without having to worry about detoxes or fake piss. Overall for the group I have a rubric sorcerer, rubric with icon of flame, and a disc for my exalted alongside a nearly complete exalted sorcerer. Painting up the staff for him right now, actually. Warning: I'm not the best of painters so it'd probably look terrible.
I also have a very minor amount of nearly complete Tzeentch daemons and stuff painted (the Start Collecting + blues and brimstones), but that was mostly for fun and a way of transitioning from my old Necrons into Thousand Sons.

Yep. Just get some washes up in here and clean up the error here and there and this will look 100x better. It's not bad at all for a beginner model, just at step 1. Also don't forget to get those mold lines.

I've actually found the dreadnoughts are really really easy to paint and great practice for learning key skills like edge highlighting. Have fun - furiosos are rad as hell.

I started collecting a couple different kinds, but I decided to just combine them all.

I'm turning my Saurus from Fantasy into Tarellians using bits from Fire Warriors that I will soon purchase and combining them with my Imperial Guard, Scion Tempestus, and Empire Handgunners so they can act as Kroot stand-ins; including using sci-fi'ed Cold One Knights for Krootox and adding all sorts of armor and autocannons to my Carnosaur to make it look like an armored Knarloc. All their kit is going to have some neat Polynesian iconography painted on purely because I think it would look baller as fuck and I'm hapa. I'm probably going to have one or two units of actual Kroot fighting alongside them to give more of a mercenary feel.

After that I'm going to take the rest of my blueberry and human shit and turn my humans into Gue'vesa so they'll act as stand-ins for the Tau infantry stuff. That way my entire Tau list is made of auxiliary troops, with the only actual blueberries represented by the few mobile suits I'm going to have (I refuse to use anything Ghostkeel-sized or larger because I'm a fluff-fag) and maybe some Pathfinders kitbashed with the new Fire Warrior Breacher armor because I think their models look cool.

GSC > Tyranids

It depends. Some people it helps, some people it doesn't. Weed is a drug that comes in 100000 different forms/strains/flavors, and on top of that affects everyone differently. Not sure it's true that flamers are really getting a buff. It was quite easy to get 3-4 hits with them before in my experience and they lost AP 5, which was useful against the kind of targets they are meant to deal with, possibly no longer ignore cover and might not have all the fancy rules like hitting inside bunkers and open topped vehicles. If they can still overwatch and get the full D6 hits, that's good and being able to concentrate their fire on a single target is nice too, but I wouldn't say they got a 'big buff' until we see more detail.

As for d-scythes, I'm thinking they will still auto-hit and do some really nasty damage (S 10, AP -4, D D6 maybe) but have fewer shots than the flamer (1 or D3).
