From what I have heard it is actually pretty decent.
Not amazing but still pretty enjoyable expecially if you are a fan of the franchise

I am glad it's over now though. As someone who started shortly after DS2 the first game still has a more obscure charm to it while by now it all feels very industrial. The piece of shit comic launching with DS3 is a great example of that. I'm happy they just said "and then the universe died a heat death, the end".
