Bought two sets of Dark Vengeance, split them with a friend, taking the Dark Angels halves. Never finished assembling it, painted half of one tactical squad.

Then later bought 1500 points of Necrons. Painted one squad of warriors and 5 immortals and half of a Triarch Stalker. Assembled most of a squad of Lychguard and a second squad of warriors. Never assembled the rest.

Then bought Tau start collecting. Assembled all of it but never attached the guns. Never painted it.

It does, but I do liven it up from time to time. I use a lot of green where I can (green bases, virtually all small details) to add contrast and make things less repetive. I also just like the way red and black look so I don't tire of them easily.

Plus, I'm trying to keep the army as visually cohesive as I can.
As much as it draws the ire of my friends, I like running all my armies at once, even in lower point games. Painting all my army similarly to one another is my way of making them seem like one army rather than four being played at once. It's my small way of saying "sorry for bringing 4 or 5 different codexes to a 1000-1500 point game".

I just wish they didn't look so fucking much like Blood Angels. All the uniqueness they gain from lore they lose by having the colors and insignia and name almost exactly like BA.

That is pretty spot on.
I spend most of my free time on the computer even though I have a lot of models to paint and assemble. I do find it "easier" to start assembling models than paint them; I treat painting as a massive ordeal where I get all my stuff ready and have to build up a mentality to start it.
When I play games on the tabletop I focus more on trying to kill the enemy dudes than trying to win, though I sometimes like to complete objectives as a kind of challenge (like achievements in video games). I like to think I'm rather fun to play against.
