Oh, that's easy. First, read anything inspired by Lovecraft. if they mention sex, it's going to be repugnant. Have the chamber reek of sweat, have the rugs feel spongy to the touch, due to sweat and other bodily fluids. You needn't really describe what they are doing to each other. Just describe the compulsion to continue. Speak of fevered minds and fevered bodies, on the verge of collapse, straining against the limits of what the human body is capable of sustaining. Talk of tissues stretched to the point of almost giving way; organs in tatters from continuous friction.

Describe them as a writhing mass of limbs, sweat, blood, and ejaculate, both male and female, acting as lube while each being in the pile loses themselves in the frantic need to find purchase in another.

Mention that there are "spent" human bodies, pushed out of the pile, decomposing in unoccupied corners, covered in vomit, blood, and filth. Tell them that the chamber they are in is large, but that this has been going on for years, off and on, and the last anyone has seen of these people was four days ago.

Tangentially related, but it's funny how you can describe any scene or object in a different way merely by adding context-coloring adjectives and description.
You can play it neutral ("the worshippers seem to be involved in a mass intercourse that seems heavily ritualistic in nature), appealing ("the pit is filled with seductive moans of the worshippers who are happily enjoying the basic pleasures of sex), or disgusting ("the worshippers are engaging in debased activities, in a grotesque caricature of animals in heat mating with each other").

Reality-altering perception is a bitch, and I dislike the fact that the general perception of events can be altered merely by applying a few adjectives and stylistic choices in writing.
