not really, but my friend and I used to jokingly play a format where we'd pick up a stack of nonland cards and draw from it the way you do with wizard's tower. for your land drop, you could put a card from your hand facedown and it counts as any color. totally retarded format but it was fun between matches and what not

if you like battle boxes you might enjoy building a cube.

I've played Wizard's Tower with a proxy powered cube

Sounds fun, but I guess you'd need strong/expensive cards to make it really good. Pauper Commander might be another option for you.

I've done it, it was fun, but rarely got played as we usually did either my 15 Card Highlander cube, or if there were more than two players, went straight into Type 4.

If you don't want to spend as much time as a Cube takes to build, it's a good choice.

I just put mine together, super fucking fun, and can double as a dumb bomb cube when we have lots of people. Got my regulars to chip in for sleeves and they shelled out for like five hundred dragonsleeves
