Not much is know about how their fight went but at the end Lion returned the now unconscious Luther to his loyal sons, cast his sword into the void of space and exiled himself from the Legion, instructing the survivors to select a more worthy leader from among themselves. Since then the Dark Angels spent centuries hunting the Fallen and searching for their Primarch, believing he hid himself among humans to finally understand them and return when he finally believed himself to be worthy to lead his sons.

Doesn't die at Istvaan, but ends up clawing his way with the shattered remains of his legion back to orbit after temporarily banishing Fulgrim. Manages to get his legion back on track so they're less about cybernetics and more just about being hard as fuck. Ends up disappearing/dying during the Scouring after chasing Fulgrim into the eye of terror. Legend has it he's still battling him to this day, and will return during the time of ending.

Honestly I like Angrons story as is. The only thing I would really do is adjust his insanity to make him more insane and his moments of lucidity to be more lucid.
