>>
I'm getting so pumped for 8th and I'll be loving the opportunity to use orks more than once every other month like I used to since all they did was collect dust.
But all this excitement got me thinking.
What if all these changes for the Orks turn out to be too good?
What if they're so good no one will want to play against my green horde?
Will I be considered that guy no one wants to play with just because I brought this specific army?
Will they be muttering to each other how much of a faggot I am for playing orks, just like we have all done to tau and eldar players?
Will they believe me when I say "I've always played orks, even through their tough times and I didn't just start playing them because of how much they benefit from 8th more than any other race"?
I'm worry now /tg/

Yes, anti-tank weapons like lascannons. 3W will make you survive a lascannon hit kore often than 2W, considering that against 3W a lascannon only has a 2/6 chance to not insta kill you rather than a 1/6 chance. Compared to the guaranteed ID of 7th, this is a buff. Also the small chance of the lascannon rolling ones for damage, meaning you'd survive 2 shots from one not taking into account your 5+, and other rules they've said termis will have in order to make them more durable.

>>
>>52924835

Nah. We already know.

Heavy weapons CANNOT FIRE and move at the same turn. No snapshots. Cannot fire.

Rapid fire weapons get more shots if they don't move. For example, boltguns are rapid fire 1. A marine who stands still gets 2 shots. A marine who moves gets 1. Presumably this means that you can have a rapid fire 3 weapon that fires 4 times when you don't move, and once when you do. I'm hoping the Heavy Bolter is like this.
>>
>>52924789
i don't get what you are trying to say here.
I'm saying the game was front loaded to be only really popular with the type of folks who can sit down and read through a bunch of spreadsheets.

>Neither are video games where you can turn the opposing team into bloody chunks
>And yet, who do the AAA publishers try to market towards again...?
Fuck if i know. I know a lot of older dudes who play the NuFPS but most of those are bro-age faggots who only really play that.
Outside of that, you don't see gibbing anymore, what wasn't soldier of fortune among the last real game that decided to go forth on the body deformation shit.
seriously though if you are point to banelfield, cod and shit it really doesn't mean anything. the game devs make a game designed for fast shooting for folks who have low attention span and boys like violence and have no attention span
it really doesn't make a difference, this wasn't targeted to kids orginally it just happened as an organic transition

>Again, the children being referred to are less tween and more teen.

removing IC's from units sounds dumb as fuck to me as well, but honestly I think they're doing it to kill death-stars. In fact, much of the changes seem designed to make the game much less breakable than it is currently. 90% of the "tactics" of 7th ed is in list making. Watch battle reports online and you can usually tell at a glance who is going to win.

Anything that shakes that up is good for the game. It's going to feel retarded to have my space marine captain run around on his own only to get 1-shot by an imp. guard lascannon team, but I guess that's better than some asshole at the club running 50 invisible 4++ hit and run cyberwolves at me.

Yeah, sorry I misread your post m8, but pretty much any non-Iron Hand descendant, Minotaurs, Marines Malevolent, or Flesh Tearers chapter are usually fine with regular dudes.

Raven Guard usually aim to help the local Imperial Guard, Ultramarines aim to minimize civilian casualties and help rebuild, Blood Angels try to take the brunt of the fighting in order to aid the locals as best they can, Salamanders are the friendliest dudes around even if their skin is #0000 and have glowing red eyes.

All this applies to most, but not all, successor chapters they have.

Might I ask why you find marine lore 'disgusting'?

So, 12 pages to Describe... the moving, shooting, and combat phases. Those would be like, 2 pages each? Maybe 3 for shooting.
Another 2 pages for how psychic works now.
2 pages of the new psychic disciplines.
1 page for that dumbass "What is a wargame and what will I need to play" section.

Rate my homebrew chapter fluff tg, this started as an attempt to justify blue Blood Angels so all feedback is welcome.

The Void Angels chapter was formed from Blood Angels geneseed during an unknown founding to combat an increasing number of piratical raids into Imperial space, from both abhorrent Xenos and chaos marauders.

They initially operated as a fleet-based chapter, where they developed a keen specialty for boarding actions and void warfare while taking the fight directly to the pirate's voidcraft - perhaps their gene-seed indicted aggression when applied to space-borne foes.

In M35 the chapter defended the ice world of Nyrth from the horrifying predations of the Slaugth, and valiantly sacrificed over 80 Astartes by ramming the worm-mind's kingship with their battle barge and overloading the reactor. Strangely, the chapter's death Company were greatly diminished for centuries after the event.

As reward for its defence, the chapter was granted Nyrth as a permanent homeworld. Nyrth is home to a small number of hives, however the Void Angels mostly recruit from the gun-tribes living in the ruins which dot the tundra and dark forests between them.

The Void Angels are slightly brooding in nature, possessed of a gallows humour and isolationist temperament which other chapters and imperial forces find hard to relate to - at best, dealing with them is an awkward affair. Despite this the chapter does show care for the Imperium's human population as typical to many Blood Angels descendants, even if they have trouble expressing it at times.

(1/2)
>>
>>52925119
Weird
my reductors didn't have IC anyway.
the fuck are they going to do with the reductor techpriest bodyguard
>>
>>52925154

(2/2)

The chapter shows a clear preference for Mk IV 'Maximus' armour, with many Astartes wearing it and the chapter's forge still able to produce new suits. Perhaps coincidentally, the Void Angels count an above-average amount of techmarines amongst their ranks (especially for a blood angels successor).

Nyrth's gun-tribes often submerge fallen warriors in ice water, believing they will one day possess the skill to 'unthaw' them. The Void Angels have absorbed this tradition into their chapter rituals, and cryogenically freeze their death Company between baffles.

Some blood angels successors have been reported to place their death companies in the pure sleep of stasis, but the crude act of cryogenesis is unique to the Void Angels. Disturbingly, some whisper that the frozen warriors are conscious the entire time and brood on their rage in excruciating cold.

As of M41 there are roughly 650 Void Angels in active service, the chapter's numbers depleted due to attritional and increasingly dangerous war zones.

>if people who oppose fascism are automatically communist?
personally i believe it has more to do with the people who like to use the term now are, as you would say themselves facist in that they are authoritarian and regressed on liberal values.
a new aristocracy for a new age.

What i've been trying to drive through by elongating your definition is the term can be applied to literally everything, it's fucking meaningless. As simple as saying "bully" and generally unuseful for pointing out the people whom would be defined as dangerous rightwing personalities
A ethno-nationalist and a hawkish conservative type are both facists I would assume you'd agree that one is reasonably benign and the other not so much.

Even communist societies can be classed like that, the soviets, most of asia, the cubans, etc are largely authoritian and can be seen to be right leaning and nationalistic because of their organizations.
literally only democracy is not a fascist state when someone stretch that term because it has no clear limitation.

People who oppose fascism aren't automatically communist?

Let me break it down:

Transcendence (ability of state to transcend social conflict and make shit harmonious)
- Fascism: Yes.
- Communism: Yes.
- Democracy: No. The state is an arena of competition between various factions, interest groups, classes, and so forth.

Cleansing (ethnic)
- Fascism: Yes.
- Communism: No. It's more or less internationalist and anti-racist.
- Democracy: Neutral. Lots of cases of it swinging both ways.

Cleansing (political)
- Fascism: Yes. Corporatism, elimination of opposition parties and groups, silencing the press.
- Communism: Yes.
- Democracy: No.

Statism:
- Fascism: Yes.
- Communism: Yes
- Democracy: Varies, but generally speaking doesn't believe that the state can do or should do anything.

Nationalism:
- Fascism: Yes.
- Communism: Usually no in theory but almost always in practice.
- Democracy: Usually.

Paramilitarism:
- Fascism: Yes.
- Communism: No.
- Democracy: No.

Now think about the Imperium. What does it look like to you?

It's transcendent (Imperium can do anything with the Emperor's light etc etc); ethnic cleansing of a sort but it is really a human-supremacy organization; definitely politically cleansing (HERESY); statism yes; nationalism yes; paramilitarism eh sort of but it is officially sanctioned by the state for the most part. It's a quasi-fascist hybrid sprinkled with high stalinism and theocracy.

By your logic, if fascism usually includes nationalism, it is inherently nationalist to ensure survival of your own race, including abandoned innocent children.

Furthermore the desire to protect innocence is an inherently rightwing idea, hence the opposition to pedophilia by most if not all rightwing ideologues (excluding libertarian rightwingers of course).

Not the libtard, but this is easy:

The math is somewhere around 36 shots per wound on a Dread at 4+ to hit. Dreads have a 3+ save, which kind of hurts them there. That's also IF you don't need exploding 6s to wound them. So, if you want to kill an 8W dreadnaught, you'd need 288 shots.

Land Raiders are likely to have a 2+ save with more wounds, which takes it down to 72 shots per wound, which could very well have at least 10 wounds if not more. That's also if the LR doesn't have extra protection like Termies supposedly have.

Considering Orks are willing to deal with Diggas, it seems plausible.

So yes, its possible for the Ork WAAAAGH! field to 'orkify' a humie. Not to the point he turns INTO a full-blown Ork mind ya, but enough that it does have a physical impact on his body (Ork-level toughness, gets bigger than an Ogryn without being one, etc.)

Tanks were in war something which was basically unstoppable unless you hit something (or someone) important. I'm not gonna mention facing because it's not confirmed (but believe me I'm skep), but so far they've lumped tanks into the group of 'all other monsters'.
That's one problem. Monstrous creatures losing stats as they start flagging and bleed out, that's an awesome mechanic, and I'd love to see it.

Tanks don't do that. Tanks lose tracks, or lose crew, or randomly explode because you've hit something vital, and everything else is nonessential.

I'll let people rip the shit out of me before I even try 2 or 3, in case it's easier just giving up.

Randomly hitting the crew, weapons, sensors, windows, and other variety of things on a tank could certainly lead to a loss of ballistic skill. Missing tracks leading to being immobilized would be a similar result

Your typical vehicle table for losing stats as they lose wounds is probably going to be a mix of reduced BS, reduced speed, and losing the use of weapons.

Thank you anons, I needed to settle on something for my armored company and I think that's it. If someone does recognize it by pattern alone maybe we'll get to have a nerdy talk about WWII armor.
>>
>>52926090
How are chapter masters even picked anyway? I feel like the current one picks one of the captain he likes to take over should he die in combat. But if he doesn't, wouldn't you pick the captain of the 1st company? He's already super badass and close to the chapter's heart to pick up where the last master left off.
Or does the chapter just pick the coolest guy?
>>
>>52925936
Eh, I still find flamers getting more hits on larger units more mechanically interesting. But I guess there might be unit special rules to encourage to you shoot them at larger units over trying to pile wounds onto ICs.

>>
>>52926140
I'll be happy to take them off your hands. Mogbt even give you $250 for them.

Wait, you spent $500 on GSC? How do you not have enough models for an army yet? Thats gotta be at least a decent 750 pts.
>>
So /40kg/

What do you think the chances are that they roll Skitarii/Admech into one faction, like they should've been in the first place?

If they do that, do you think we would get army wide Canticles/Doctrina Imperitives? Would one be phased out? Or would we just get something different altogether?
>>
>>52926140
If you really don't want the GSC, I'm sure you can find somebody here or elsewhere who'll take them off your hands.
Probably won't be able to recoup the whole amount, but at least enough of it to put a dent in what you still need to buy.
>>
>>52926137
Traditionally it's first company captain, but in some cases the most boss dude who is exceptionally worthy is picked. The Ultramarines 1st company captain hates Cato Sicarius because of this, iirc, because everyone believes Cato will be CM after the Spiritual Liege, Marneus Calgar, rather than the 1st Compant Captain.
>>

Shit man, go for it and tell me how it turns out. Would save me the trouble of drilling more holes.
>>

Anon, GSC are an internet darling atm. You should have no trouble getting a good price for them on ebay.
>>
>>52926171
I said I have half an army.

So, about 750 points give-or-take of Tyranids, 750 give-or-take of GSC.

My Tyranids have almost no troops though. I only really like the Tyranids for their big bugs, so I have a Hive Tyrant and other assorted MCs, plus two bare minimum Gaunt troop choices.
>>
>>52926173
Different altogether. They already confirmed that Chapter Tactics will involve Command points, so probably something to do with that.
>>
>>52926186
You realise there'll be 14 FoCs, right? An HQ, some Heavy Support, and a few token Troops will probably be a valid army.

>2. Templates
Yes. It's been confirmed, Blasts AND flamer templates are all going away.
That one shouldn't need a lot of explanation of why it's not a wargame. People put a lot of effort into designing trenches and foxholes so that you could partition the damage from a shell or bomb.
It hitting X amount of models in the unit now means that there's zero reason to spread your guys out, so you no longer have to make strategic decisions about whether to bunch up behind cover and risk the whirlwind, or spread out and risk the boltguns.

I am starting to base some of the IF models I have and want to be consistent in how I do it.

I want some of them, currently working on a centurion, to have enemy parts/casualties as part of the piece. I'd like the (assault) centurion to show a dreadnought, crisis suit, wraithguard etc with a big hole from its drill, and possibly a pilot or something in the free hand.

Point is, I'd need some consistency on what "enemy" is scatted throughout my models. What do you think I should go with? What would Imperial Fists be caught fighting?

My go to would be iron warriors, meaning that I could still field it as a 30k army
>>
>>52926523
whats revealed so far is in the last few articles on the warhammer community website.

in short statline is mostly the same, added movment stat. Initiative is gone. no chargers strike first and units fight in alternating activations like AoS.
AP is now a save modifier instead of the all or nothing system. Cover is a save mod as well.
Vehicles now have Wounds, toughness and armour saves.

All current codexs will be obselete. Core rules will be free, army rules in 5 "cheap" book while GW works on churning out new codexs.
>>
>>52926602

So? It's still better than one side getting shit like Gladius and the other only getting something like Vestal Shit Force.
>>
>>52926614
Ah well, I can dream.
>>
>>52926644
Sure it's an improvement but that doesn't mean I can't be worried only a handful of the FoCs will actually be interesting. I'd like there to be more improvement in 8th ed than just "it's not 7th"

That's not what they said in the Q&A, though.

"Yes, allies are still around. But they work slightly different. Because the game is moving to the “Keyword” system the typical Death Star units/combos are not going to work. Your special abilities will only transfer to the units with the correct Keywords. This should cut down on the shenanigans."

That's the question where they referenced it, and they said that they grant special rules to units in their faction but not allies. I haven't seen anything GW wrote that said ICs joining units is gone.
