His real strength was buffing his NPC followers and companions, so he would lose one-on-one.

Interesting that I never realized the paralels. My character was somewhat like a more hopeful counterpart to Guts. Two-handed sword and a hand mortar instead of cannon-arm, plus powers drawn from reuniting with his personal junguian shadow. He even had a suit of armor enchanted to counter the fact that he is a 70 year old war veteran.

He would offer Guts a job (similar to what he's doing already) in exchange for occult lore and information on the kind of entities he's after, plus one or two people which might help with Casca. My real goal is to avoid another powerful person becoming a host to the Entity making people's shadows assume control. To do so, I would talk some things about myself, like the way I crapped my pants in my first combat, the time I slayed trolls to avenge my wife and sought death. Perhaps he would see similarities and open up.

The campaign was mostly about that, as the enemy was a fragmented god's junguian shadow, capable of affecting anyone's else. When my DM and I discussed the PC, we considered how close he could have become the next Big Bad.

The most intense moment was changing my mind and convincing someone to not comit suicide, and that's competing with a thousand slaad army and a siege with ramming ankylosaurus.

I won't ever forget roleplay in which my character came to a final understanding with his own shadow self. It had the shape of a centaur, if the horse body was a floating coffin and the human part a weeping statue. It took me RL two hours to understand that my PC had to forgive his father. He learned afterwards to invoke the souls of fallen comrades into his followers.

I now remember young Guts was the image chosen to represent one of my followers.

My character looks what happens if you put a young girl, a Lictor and a locust into the Fly machine and pull it out the other end. Despite looking monstrous, she still has her humanity and has openly been trying to help others. Even if talking fails, she only ever kills monsters.

Can Guts giant sword pierce kinetic barriers before he's disintegrated? that's the real question here, and the answer is no, because the standard Shepard is a Soldier with the ability to slow time down, allowing him to hit guts with sustained fire, for the requisite amount of time, keeping in mind that gits has no barriers to redirect half the damage cutting kill time down to 1.5 seconds

Shepard has rage too, and if this is after he was cybernetically augmented, and considering I last played ME3, that's a yes, Guts really has no chance. Soldier Shepard not only has a variety of ammo augmenting abilities at his disposal, Fire, Cryo and Stun/Disruptor round, and he's got frag grenades, conscious command of his andrenal glands which allows him to speed up his reaction time, which he perceives as time slowing down around him. All that's not even counting the bonus talents he can potentially have, which include a number of debilitating abilities which includes my personal favorite Stasis, stopping Guts ass in his tracks, and allowing a simple and near instant disintegration, Guts cannot win alone against Shepard.

Even adding each others teams the fight would still decidedly be against Guts, although his little mage pet might even the field, it's still highly likely that Shepard and his team would eliminate him allowing them to pick off the rest with their wide range of abilities, and advanced technology.

That's not all that Shepard has at his disposal, and the way this field works is different than the magic Griffith used to attempt it. See, little secret, Biotic abilities cannot be resisted or broken with pure rage like magical ones can, if you get hit and he would get hit, your ass is stuck in place and you're vulnerable then dead. Stasis aside, Adrenaline Rush alone would enable Shepard to win especially because as fast as Guts is I doubt he has a 100 meter range standard with a weapon. As powerful as Guts is in his setting, if you put them both in a neutral arena where both their arsenals and abilities work, Shepard wins every time.

He has technology, in his head, his skin, his bones, then he has Armor that has a kinetic barrier stopping projectoiles going a fraction of C=lightspeed. Guts has 0 chance because while Guts is the best his world can offer which is one planet, Shepard is the best of the best of the fucking best in the Milky Way Galaxy in the ME universe, an unstoppable juggernaut of destruction! He is also, apparently either a really nice dude or a through and through evil asshole or a chick, all the above applies to her but whatever form Shepard takes he has a literally unmatched skill in killing and battlefield control, and to top it all off a race of sapient machines (multiple kilometers high at the largest) who harvested all life in the galaxy many thousands of times, and have never feared an organic before, fear Shepard, Guts can claim that he stands on equal foot with demons? Shepard can claim he stands on equal footing with machines that would kill Guts with a fucking thought, so quit with your shit, I elucidated clearly more than once why Shepard alone would wipe the floor with Guts, and you keep coming back but MUH DEMONS, MUH MAGIC, Shepard has Magic too, and his comes from science not words spoken into the air.

Guts exists in both the physical layer of reality, and a layer where belief and willpower have tangible effects on their surroundings. His sword extends even further down the line, into the layer of inhabited by gods.

If you attack Guts with weapons that only exist in the physical world, then the part of him in the astral world won't be affected by them. This doesn't make him invincible, but it means he can tank a ridiculous amount of damage from such attacks, and an ability that completely paralyzes a normal man will only slow him down. Yes, an Alcubierre Drive, as I understand it owuld give us the ability to travel greater distances while still remaining at or below light speed, and they could be incredibly dangerous to use. Also, last I checked the theory requires negative mass, so a Mass effect field equivalent could be one way to make it possible, even if it's unlikely to exist. Whereas a Mass effect field equivalent would raise or lower an objects mass without destroying said object, It's theoretically possible, but unlikely because to do so it'd have to violate our current understanding of, at least, the Second Law of Thermodynamics, I think, if I'm worng please enlighten me.
