Yes, it is my Ordinatus Ulator. I finally got the wiring sorted out for the speaker amplifier circuit. Much love to /diy/ for pointing out the error that was fucking up the circuit (turns out the ground wasn't unified). This thing can BLAST, for real doe. I can fill an entire room with its sound, and overtake passive speakers. The only weird thing about it is it has this bizarre tendency to pick up stray radio waves, which I have no idea how it's doing, but it doesn't matter. I just crank the music up.

Tomorrow I'm going to look into how to attach the breadboard to the Ordinatus, probably on the underside. If that doesn't work, then maybe the front, above the drive train. I'd rather not just leave the board off to the side, but I'm willing to keep that as a nuclear option.

Ok, so I need to make an 1850 list (salamanders) for tomorrow. 2 things:
A) I have no transport for my terminators
B) I'm playing against 40K armies
wut do?
I have:
10 Firedrakes (TH SS)
5 Catphractiis (LC w/1 HF)
10 Pyroclasts
2 Contemptors (1 w/MM, 1 w/KAC)
2 Rhinos
1 Spartan
40 Tactical Marines
1 Drop Pod
and 1 Vulkan He'stan that I've done a couple of conversions to to make him look 30K and not 40k (head swap etc.) that I want to run as a Praetor

I'm actually tempted to make my Night Lords loyalists who follow either a repentant Servetar (iirc he was at the end?), or just their own claw captain after Istvaan because pretty much what you posted. They bring bloody justice and example, not petty slaughter, ect.
>>
>>52780302
They aren't known for it, but the Sagyar Mazan could certainly do it.

And even the main fleet used what Path of Heaven calls suicide squads - rearguard units left behind on a space station that the Scars unsuccessfully tried to take, in order to give everyone else time to evacuate. So they're not obsessed with staying alive or anything.

BOLS has rumors, for what it's worth.

>The Boxed Set will Feature Death Guard vs a Loyalist Chapter
>Loyalists are described with contradictory reports as either Dark Angels or White Scars
>Minis are described as upgrade sprues with already produced plastic heresy kits.

The primary competing rumor is that there won't be a box this year at all - either way, temper your expectations.
>>
>>52782778
Well, even with a serious pinch of salt that makes me sad there's no Mechanicum. We could use a couple different Magos designs, and also not paying £84 for a troops choice as opposed to less than £95 for three plus goodies.
>>
>>52782778
Didnt FW say there wouldnt be a new plastic box for the HH? If this is real then it could be the 8th ed starter set to replace DV.
>>
>>52782778
Wouldnt mind that; hopefully still legion neutral so you can gobble the bits and bobs up for legion construction.

Jaghatai sent Yesugei because Horus had ordered the Khan and the legion to Chondax. There, the White Scars got caught by the warp storm created by an Alpha Legion device (the one that Omegon's dudes destroyed) so they weren't receiving messages from outside.

In Scars, Yesugei takes a ship to Chondax and adventures ensue. But until he reaches the rest of the legion, the Khan doesn't know about Nikea. Yesugei just tells some Salamanders that the primarch would've ignored the decree.

Hehe, that is what I get for reading too many green-text stories. I have the rule-books; want to do some campaign stuff but only one player likes campaigns in my group.

Sons of Horus...vicious, ambitious, prideful and unwavering. They match my attitude when Im in concentrating on succeeding at something. I have gone through a few armies in Warhammer and they are the only ones that have made me stop and drool at the tactical options and playstyle they are suited for. What about you anon?

I'm currently putting together my Dark Angels models and polishing up my fluff for them. Progress is slow but I own all the models I currently want so I don't have to spent anything more and that motivates me to paint a bit quicker so I can play.

My eventual plan is to have a few different DA lists and also a force of Thousand Sons.

SoHs have got some nice rules and can put together some really violent close combat lists. The boost to Justaerin puts them close to the top of the terminator pile, it's a shame their unique characters are all pretty lacklustre except for Horus himself.
>>
>>52784324
Oh nice! What do you figure you would put together list theme wise?

Its a good thing Im not big on special characters anyways; Justaerin are definitely the heart of the army for me, very nice models that I want to do justice properly to. Have ~60 power armoured marines put tgoether and based coated, 5 each of the different marks of terminator armour, the pair of GW dreads which I use as Cortus, (cheap model=cheap unit). Looking to get a spartan, 10 more justaerin some dread claws and a unit of reavers to finish things off; waiting for a fire raptor in the mail. That was 2 months beer money I saved for that

I want a list for each legion rite, one more for orbital assault and a Zone Mortalis army so four in total. There's going to be a lot of unit overlap between Ironwing, orbital assault and the Zone Mortalis army but Ravenwing is going to be difficult to put together since it's going to have to be like 95% resin, and expensive models at that.

That sound like a good list with a lot of bases covered. Some big bunches of infantry, some deepstriking stuff, a deathstar unit, air support. How are you for anti-tank?
>>
>>52784625
You should add some axes to the breachers, not just swords. Maybe 2 axes, 3 swords?
>>
>>52784626
Depending on how things go I will probably go back and do this after some other stuff gets built.
>>
>>52784685
Except for the sergeant UM breachers can only take swords.
>>
What are some extremely cheap or effective ways of adding nuncio-voxes as forward as possible?
>>
>>52784658
Not shabby; Im a fan of the Long March RoW, so I would have a MoS stuck in with a relentless heavy support squad that would get functionally BS 10 first turn and BS5 until MoS wants to arty something and potentially has a voidshield. Other anti tank is chainsfists, combi meltas, moar lascannons and maybe a Questoris knight Warden or something better at killing vehicles LOW wise.
I actually like 20man tac blobs+medic because I get fleet/crusader depending on where I get into melee with an opponent.
>>
>>52784638
-sigh-
This is why I hate the HQ tax, if I'll swap him out for a champion with the same wargear plus a plasma pistol and remove the melta bomb from the storm squad, he can go with a squad of breachers

>>52784685
only the sergeant can take an axe, but its a good idea, so I'll spaw pout his sword for it, theyre thye same points
>>
>>52784709
Oh, I didn't know that.

>>52784711
Legion recon squads with infiltrate, Sisters of Silence bolters (dont remember the name) can also have a vox and infiltrate IIRC.
>>
>>52784726
Doesn't even have to be a champion, a legatine axe centurion with a boarding shield is only about 80 points and fills your HQ needs, no point in spending the extra points for +1WS and master crafted.
>>
At low points, do you think marksman veterans wth asphyx shells (re-roll to wound) are worth running without plasma?
>>
>>52784797
yes, and its trvial to get re-roll wounds. brutal.
>>
>>52784822
Alright, guess I'll do that. I can't spare the points for combi-plasmas. So instead they'll be Divination vets (re-roll hit), with asphyx shells (shred/re-roll wounds), snipers (hit 6's precision, wound 6's ap2).
>>
>>52784756
Good point! I'll keep the plasma pistol just because that chaplain model looks amazing, makes him 95 points, I can use the extra points to give the storm squads and breachers melta bombs

Thanks anon!
>>
>>52784844
Honestly, a unit of 10 combi-plasmas are an extra 100 points, which is almost +50% on a unit of vets. i am not conviced they are so useful

Looking to make a 'my dudes'-type force of TS. I love the idea of a telepathy-based army, i.e. all of them under Athanean Cult Arcana. I'd imagine people that routinely handly these mental influence powers like mindcontrol and such would be at least somewhat bombastic megalomaniacs.
As a bonus, I'd get less accusations of Raptora and Corvidae bullshittery.
Could I include a squad of Sekhmet (who sadly can't get Athanean) sent as as a sort of watchdog unit to make sure the army does not step out of line? I have this box of Scarab Occult termies lying around...
Would that be at all viable? And not too awful lore-wise?

Calling someone a WAACfag cheese monger because they have a good squad isn't really fair.
>>
>>52785133

Also this pisses me off, the Sekhmet upgrade kit is only a torso and head (and a weapon), so we'll never get those sexy, sexy legs

>>
>>52785155
>who sadly can't get Athanean
They can, they just have to roll for powers rather than picking them. Yeah it would be nice and fluffy although I dislike the watchdog aspect of them, these are the Thousand Sons, a fair and respectable legion, not the World Eaters or Space Wolves.

Magistus Amon is top dog as far as this stuff is concerned and he is Magnus' teacher/father figure s probably had sufficient personal authority to order the Sekhmet about. He has a bunch of good gear and some nice special rules and a nice WL trait allowing him to outflank a unit on any turn you choose after the first (vindicator squad maybe?). He is also ML3 and only 170 points.
>>
>>52785261
To be fair, even a fair and respectable legion can have a whole bunch of assholes in it. And if anyone would be a jerk it'd be probably the guys that deal with mental subjugation and illusions.

I'll eat my hat if that is intended. Any sensible person reads that and concludes: "Yeah, these guys can pick between Pyromancy and Telekinesis." Only the worst WAAC assholes would ever decide that it means they get to pick their powers, as if TS needed more reason to be loathed by the rest of the playerbase.

As far as I can tell they don't have to roll. The next page with the sword dude have a different line that clearly indicates rolling for them. Why if it was roll on the terminator squad it would say " generate their powers from the telekinesis or pyromancy disciplines."
>>
>>52785371
The word Choose heavily implies just that though : that they can choose their powers.

Why else use a different word when other unit entries from the same book do use the word Generate instead ?

This is why most people come to the conclusion that Sekhmet can choose their powers.
>>
>>52785466
>Why else use a different word
Because Forge World and sensible wording are mutually exclusive? I mean, we *are* talking about Inferno here...

>>
>>52785466
>>52785491
>>52785510

Useing the word "choose" can only mean you Choose. This is made more clear by the use of the word "generate" elsewhere.
>>
>>52785491
Every other psyker in the book says generate, even Magnus, even the Space Wolves. The only exceptions to this are the Ammitara Cabel where it says 'rather than generating a psychic discipline nomally' and the Sekhmet where is says 'may choose'.

I'm not saying it isn't OP but it's pretty obvious that you can choose their powers.
>>
>>52784245
Same, although I play Luna wolves fluffed as terrans sent away to do low priority work since they were very against the warrior lodges and saw them as a secretive and subversive route to bypass the meritocratic systems that worked for the Luna wolves so well. They came back from their nomad-predation pattern mission.

Super aggressive everything takes place within 12" with outflanking reserves and a ton of deep striking.

Speed, surprise, aggression... it's how modern special forces units operate.

I really don't like using dice to represent remaining wounds and hull points and am thinking of magnetising something to the model to display this, maybe purity seals/oaths of moment or other bits and pieces. Has anyone done anything similar or have any ideas about what I could use to represent wounds?
>>
>>52785589

The counterpoint, using that same evidence, is that the Sekhmet lacks the phrase 'rather than generating a psychic discipline normally...'

I think that in the end this will be one of those ones we chalk up to the appalling quality control throughout Inferno. However, for lack of any FAQ on the subject I'd agree that they should be able to choose their powers. Only from those disciplines though - no rolling on a different one.

What about magnetising the pauldrons, and having a set of pristine and battle-damaged ones for each model? So on a 3-wound character:
>both pauldrons pristine: 3 wounds left
>one pauldron battle-damaged: 2 wounds left
>both pauldrons battle-damaged: 1 wound left
Has the added bonus that the model is getting visibly more damaged as it takes more damage.

To put another idea out there for mechanicum players: with my 40k tyranids I use individual rippers on the base as wound counters. Something like that might work for the big robots, have servo-skulls or something on the base each representing a single wound.

Anyone with experience with massed havoc launchers? I've been squeezing for points and have enough to equip my rhinos with them. 45 points for mini artillery squadron sounds nice but should I invest in them?

They are an after thought for most people. Spending 45 points on havoc launchers could be 45 points of more useful gear spent elsewhere, 45 points if an apothecary. Also they aren't particularly good, a S5 small blast isn't all that great.

Do you already have voxes, vexillas, augury scanners, dozer blades etc where you need them? If so then you might as well get the havoc launchers.

It's way too blue, for one thing. And your metallics are sloppy, they aren't covering the blue along the edges. It shouldn't be hard to do those, and then you come back with a dark brown wash and it will help hide that transition if it isn't perfect.

Don't worry too much about coat thickness, it's a matter of practice. Ideally you prime, paint a thin coat that doesn't cover all the way, let it dry, then do another. Though greens and blues are more likely to work in one pass. Just thin it a little more next time.

For this guy, tidy up the trim, do that dark brown wash along recesses (Nuln Oil is the usual wash but I think a warm-colored wash works well on cool-colored minis), then try an edge highlight. It should be wider than the chipping you've done (which works well, imo).

Thanks for the feedback! The 'blue'ness is from bad lighting actually, the dread got based in Mechanicus Standardard grey with a Incubi darkness added ontop of that so in reality its much greener than the picture gives off. Writing down some notes on things to improve on it and going to try what you and a few other people have suggested. Gonna order some new brushes and some washes to go with it! :)

Would your legion OC ever do the opposite of what his legion stereotype indicates? Like a White Scar being forced to siege a position (seen in HH3), an IW doing an infiltration mission [redacted] or the UMs pursuing and boarding an alien species (seen in HH5)?
How much do you limit your dudes with the "it's not fluffy" argument, HHG?

They can take either armor. I like Tartaros (using the plastic 40k kit I guess...) if you're taking the cult that increases your invulnerable save. Improving Cataphractii armor's save really drives home how undercosted they are. Improving Tartaros' save to Cataphractii levels doesn't bother people as much even though you can now run and sweep.

That looks like a fucking awesome Arlatax Battle-automata. Slightly taller than the basic Domitar chassis, but no big deal for them since they don't shoot much, if anything it's a slight disadvantage so noone would be fussed. One small gun, a giant claw and a larger sweeping weapon. That's literally perfect, would be the precise profile if you swapped or converted the back-braziers into a jet engine or something. Even as is, it's as close a match as I've seen, maybe paint the scythe electricy to show it's Haywire and done.

Where did you get it? I've been looking for good conversion fodder for one for ages. They're really good spearhead robots, they'll rip up other elite units easily with I5 and laugh in binary at power weapons.

That's cute and all, but literally anything minces MEQs, that's not some great accomplishment. I get that they are not awful by any means, but the guy it's mounted on will have to mulch a huge amount of marines to earn his keep. And if there's a specialist melee unit in artificer or terminator armor things suddenly look pretty sour.
Nevermind the whole melee vs shooting debacle.
>>
>>52793317
Too many players put hard units up against their opponents hard units when it comes to assault. F that. I send my hard units to massacre multiple units of easier units and take down their hard units with shooting.

Alpha legion tartaros terminators with combi plasma/melta, power swords, and bane strike ammo. They mince meqs. In shooting and assault, which is what I point them at. Anything they can't take on in combat I blast with plasma and melta.

Same goes for my praetor. I don't aim him at their Death Star, but rather their support squads and other things he can wreck.
