Well, we can safely theorize that Amonkhet was in its design stage back around the end of Theros. So, this Commander set was probably conceptualized sometimes during Tarkir, maybe Origins.

I know. MaRo has straight up said they are more likely to make an entirely new Japanese plane than revisit Kamigawa, but that would be confusing consider they still reference Kamigawa with Tamiyo, so that's not happening.

I think the best I could hope for is for them to reference Madara on Dominaria in some way, which would give us that Samurai aesthetic without the Kamigawa baggage, but even then MaRo has said they don't want to go back to Dominaria without giving it a consistent theme, so kinda S.O.L. there as well.

Also, is it just me or are zombies being spread out way too much among the colors? Golgari was the guild of zombies with black and green, Grixis was the shard of zombies with blue, black and red, Sultai was the clan of zombies with blue, black and green, Innistrad's zombies were blue and black and now we've got white and black zombies in Amonkhet? Zombie doesn't seem like a tribe we should have spread over five colors.

Werewolves were fucking GONE, the angels went from clueless to murderhappy, vampires were suddenly punching bags, everything was getting wrecked and it completely ruined the whole 'gothic horror plane' thing in a single set. They somehow managed to make a happy ending ruin something.
The fact that they wrote stuff to make it not as ruined afterwards doesn't change the fact that they ruined what was cool about the plane in the first place. They can write stuff after the fact for the other places we've been to to make them Not So Ruined for the same effect, after all.

In one of the recent stories they mentioned that the "Hour of Ascendance" is coming, and they won't need the protection of the Magic walls anymore, and that's about two days away.

My guess is in Hours of Devastation the Magic walls come down, Gatewatch loses, people of Amonkhet lose, Bolas wins and accomplishes whatever goal he was aiming for when he originally corrupted the plane.

It's gonna be a blowout loss for the Jacetice League.

Ninjas would not let them do anything with a masters set (since those need to be stuff that's been printed in standard) and there's 56 new cards TOTAL between the four decks, at least 9 of which are going to be commanders (two new for each of the other three decks, all three new for Ninjas because no multicolor ninjas).
In order to make one of them ninjas, most of those remaining 45 cards will have to be ninjas, meaning the other three decks get screwed out of having new cards. They aren't going to put 20 new cards in one deck and then 5 each in the other three. And that's not counting any artifacts/lands/other stuff that ends up in multiple decks.

A tribe of ten cards does not a tribal 100 card deck make. That only has TEN because two were printed in Planechase. Ninja is an anemic tribe and this is not the release that is going to help them out, due to the other demands going on.

I don't know what other tribes would excite me really. Ninjas or Wizards. I've wanted to make a Wizard EDH deck for a loooooong time but the only real option feels like Azami cheese and I don't want to do that.

I wouldn't put it past them to pint Azami Wizard-Counter tribal. The pallet for this will cost the same wether it's 5 or 4 boxes so the missing deck's EV should bled onto the remaining decks to continue being profitable for WPN clients.

Well, there's no hard evidence out there but at the same time, there's no reason why he wouldn't be corrupted.

He's a mana construct, just like the angels are. If the angels got twisted and corrupted so much that only Sigarda is left, there's no reason why the demons should have been able to resist. The only real outcome I can think of is Ormendahl becoming yet another tentacle horror.
