Any character works, as long as it's done correctly.

Also, Rick and Jack would work pretty well. After all, Rick has no problems being friendly with stoic philosophical people.

I'm not even sure how you would combine Rick and Jack. They're fundamentally different people.

There's more to a character than whether or not they're pessimistic.
