Please explain.

Good god fuck off already anon. There's a note in every exalted jump we have that perfect defences are not literally perfect, and Anathema is a perk that explicitly bypasses perfect defenses. Jump-chan is L I T E R A L L Y omnipotent, so the perk shits on exalted. Now, can we finally move on?
>>
Unrelated note:

I recall we had a question posed a thread or three ago, as to what jumpers' themes were. What songs fit you or your travels, jumpers?

Anathema doesn't actually say anything about perfect effects or perfect defenses. Just that if you keep hitting supernatural defenses will fall apart eventually. You should use something else because it wouldn't help much at all against something like a perfect dodge and even if someone does block they can just pop another perfec.

That's why I think it wouldn't work. Not because perks somehow don't do as they say, or because exalted wank, but because that perk in particular isn't specced for that particular job..

Ah, your memes.
Those memes you've been writing.
We heard about those memes.
How excited you were about those memes.
How disappointing that you're losing your will to complete those memes we heard about and that you were excited about.
Memes.
Memes you've been working on.
Sure. Of course.
You've been working on MEMES.
MEMES of great importance!
MEMES that will change Memechain forever!
How could people be so selfish as to post things you don't like and discourage you from completing your MEMES of GREAT IMPORTANCE.
Absolutely.
I'm sure you're working very hard on your MEMES OF GREAT IMPORTANCE.
Don't let the thread get you down and discourage you from completing your MEMES OF GREAT IMPORTANCE.
How tragic it would be if we never got your MEMES. OF GREAT. IMPORTANCE.

Minor update to Titanfall to address a few issues that were bugging me.

>V2.4
>Oi! cost changed to free, down from 200cp.
>Krampus Was Waiting For Your Soul! cost raised to 200, from 100cp.
>This means that the total cost has been lowered from 300cp to 200cp, and you no longer have to pay 200 fucking cp to choose your own accent.

>Apex Beauty dropped to 50cp from 100cp.
>Frontier Art dropped to 50cp from 100cp and multiple purchases allowed.
>Both perks are still the same power, this is just so you have more 50cp filler options.

>Added a note to Energy Weapon's description that you get two of them with each purchase. They aren't goddamn special, that should've been in there from the beginning.

>Dropped Size Upgrade in Ship Customization to 50SP per purchase, from 100SP.
>While the concept of ships being giant fucking noodles is hilarious, I decided that was a bit too mean. So, half the price means you can get one in every direction for the price of the original purchase, which means you can maintain proportions on what you import.

>Added Carrier Deck and Titan Deck option.
>It occurred to me that people might want these! Also, more options that let you deal with that 50SP remainder.

>Added Speed is Life option.
VOODOO ONE. VIPER'S ON STATION.

YOUR JOURNEY ENDS HERE, PILOT. THE SKIES BELONG TO ME. NOWHERE TO RUN. NOWHERE TO HIDE.

ALL UNITS, TARGET THE ARSENAL BIRD.

>>
>>52715307
Dude, let's not pretend like we're the only ones participating in an argument, and don't throw proponents of your side of the argument under the bus just because you want to abandon the point and move the goal posts from 'Perfect Defenses are perfect and trump attacks that beat Perfect Defenses' on to 'there is no attack that can trump a Perfect Defense in the first place'.

How about fucking Apotheosis then?

>Chaos Gods cannot be defeated by any means
Except Genocide of everything.

>The Blind Eternities melt perks
Gaunlet has stated that is his opinion and he doesn't enforce it on us.

>Perfect Defenses trump perks
I have yet to see evidence of this.

>The Doctor is smarter than any jumper
Weirdly enough that was really early in my Jumps so yeah. Other Jumpers may vary.

>Avada Kedavra is the best instant-death ability in the chain
I think Gaunlet has a Combo for that actually.

>Scion is stronger than the Jumpers/Endbringers cannot be killed
Scoin can be persauded into suicide and the Endbringers have a weakness to dimensional attacks. (Second Magic from Fate/Stay Night or Reality Slash/World Breaker from Overlord should be able to do it)

>Ea's blast cannot be stopped
I don't know about this one because I've only seen the full blast when it was used in the Reality Marble, however Ea in general use has been defended against before. Please pardon the grammar there.

Honestly I just jumped in towards the end because it was getting too stupid that I had to try correcting things. If I've offended anybody I'm sorry. My B

>>52715351
After re reading that perk just to check I don't see why it wouldn't. The whole making absolutes not thing should be a viable path. You've changed the part of perfect defenses where they block things even if those things say they're unblockable so it should work. It's not like there are charms to defend a charm. At least I don't think there are.
I really don't think I need to defend bogus arguments from people that aren't me. If it looked like shifting goalposts I'm sorry, but that wasn't the intent. I'm was trying to explain things as best as possible and offer solutions. That's really it.

Whether objectively right or not, people fanwank differently about shit like this. It's not going to change because you screamed your opinion at them.
>>
>>52715397
You're just baiting at this point, aren't you? This has literally devolved to the point where you're wanting force your opinion on someone else who isn't making anyone do what he thinks, just expressing what he thinks.

The blind eternities eats full blown planeswalkers like it's going out of style, if they're there long enough. It'll eat just about any normal matter in there as well, and looks at magic like a small child looks at a delicious cheesecake. We are, at best, nascent planeswalkers, not even full blown ones. What exactly do you think is going to happen? You're going to build a house floating in the blind eternities and set up shop? Maybe have a white picket fence, wife, 2.4 kids and a golden retriever? Look out the window at dinner and say "oh, honey, the horrifying space between worlds looks lovely this evening"?

>>52715397
Something along the lines of that's how it works in canon. See there are things other than Planeswalkers that make the run through the blind eternities. All beings without Sparks melt during transit. Gods from various Planes, but more specifically Kamigawa, can make the transit but the blind eternities literally melts there divinity away to get at them, because the divinity is protecting the God from reprisial. At least I think that's Gaunlet's explination, he hasn't gone into gross detail about it and I'm trying to figure things out from inference alone here, and a visit to the Wiki.

Still it's just his opinion and he doesn't force it on us, so it's not really mattering in the long run what his opinions are on the subject.

What's weird about the perk melting thing to me is that there are perks and abilities for surviving in places like that.
Kingdom hearts has one for example. I don't get why a perk made for it would fail. Although maybe he just didn't know the perk exists?
I don't think regular durability would do much so I guess from that angle it makes sense.

Hmm. Would "I Live Here" from Kingdom Hearts jump protect you? Or any other similar "screw your hazardous environment, I brought s'mores" perks?
>>
>>52715551
I don't think it has anything to do with that actually. The perk say "you will survive in terrible envorenments" so the Blind Eternities errodes that perk before it gets to you. Kind of like how stacking defenses works in MtG the outermost layer isn't protected from eroding so it gets fucked.
>>
>>52715536
>WAAAAH! MUH JUMPERS CANT GET STRONGER THAN PLANET BUSTING BEFORE ENDJUMPING

Is this 2015?
>>
>>52715599
Why would the blind eternities erode perks? There's much more dangerous places in the chain.
>>
>>52715599
So the answer to that is 'no, even if you have perks that say you can survive, the blinding eternity destroys those perks and then kills you'.
>>
>>52715599
But there's nothing about the blind eternities that should be eroding perks in general. I can see a jumper getting torn apart for trying to walk through reality acid with just a lot of defense, but if I've got a perk that says I can take a stroll through reality acid I should be able to do it.
>>
>>52715599

What really gets me is the "perk erosion" thing. It doesn't even make sense. Why would it erode an ability explicitly designed to survive a setting like that. I just don't understand. Do planes walkers have "perks"? Do they do the whole jumpchain thing? Is such an event even cannon in that verse?

And more importantly does that mean jumpchain takes place in the MtG multiverse? Because fuckfaces keep talking like it is. Like that setting trumps literally everything else in the entire chain.

Not like perks necessarily have presence enough to be eroded. You can't touch them. And even if reality is breaking down anywhere else theres no indication that they'd stop working just because.

Like I can get that someone could have an opinion, but I just don't know where it came from.

Sorry the answers and impressions that I could give you weren't enough for you to make a decision on your own man. Gaunlet is kind of a neat dude usually, and he isn't enforcing his ideas on us so why is this important to you.

>And more importantly does that mean jumpchain takes place in the MtG multiverse?
It's slightly implied by our end all be all reward being an old style Planeswalker Spark, but that's up to the Jumper.

>>52715745
On the former argument, I personally see it like this: Perks are things, even magic breaks down in blind eternities, so the reality acid can break down anything up to a God's divinity and do so before destroying the Gods.

On the later argument, I've given you all the info I've got and every guess as well.

>>
>>52715814
Not the guy you were responding to, but I just find the idea of all the other multi and omniverses in the chain existing within Magic's multiverse to be very silly. Like, there are plenty of things where we see everything that exists in the multiverse and that there's nothing outside of it. Even things where everything is destroyed. Places that outmatch anything that can be found within Magic.

It just seems so illogical to have Magic the Gathering as what everything is a part of and inferior to, when the component parts are much bigger and much stronger then the Magic setting.

For god's sake we're getting a Dies Irae jump soon. Can you possibly imagine that setting being just a small part of Magic?
>>
>>52715844
With the fact that most Planes don't interact with each other, the fact that Planeswalkers are fairly rare, and the fact that Planes have never been given size limits and can even have different meta-physics I'd say it's not too unbelievable. But that's just me.
>>
>>52715876
But there are things like the blind eternities, which very definitely don't exist in some places where we do see the outside of the multiverse or the bits in between planes. That's like the one big constant and it being missing is damning.

No need to go at Dies Irae. Just use Marvel or DC as examples. Can you imagine Lucifer losing to an Eldrazi or an Oldwalker?

I think I was implying that all Jumps that don't interact with the MtG Multiverse/Omniverse in the theoretical thing we were speaking about were like closed circuits in relation to the various ones that did so. But this is all stuff that the Jumpmaker isn't enforcing and even worse is just an anon speculating. Perhaps you should ask Gaunlet next time you see him posting?

>>
>>52716614
Well, no. Not necessarily.

Firstly, you're assuming God is Perfect. If he's not, the thing falls apart.

But, if we assume he is Perfect, why does he need to be limited by our definitions of what is perfect or imperfect? What makes nonexistence imperfect? Is God necessarily limited to just existing or not existing? If he's Perfect, shouldn't he be capable of both and of more that we can't even conceptualise?

It's really more complicated then that.
>>
>>52716614

I'm a thief with a mask that lets me turn into a giant. That's pretty awesome. So is the staff that can split in two, shoot sleep darts, create smoke clouds, and act as a key to my warehouse.

The less awesome things are the gang of thieves that have stolen a bunch of my fancy tech and the giant robots that are constantly hiding wherever I go. They're really damn tough, the robots and the thieves alike, and even with my allies I end up needing to hire the Cooper Gang for a bit of a hand.

Sly seemed to take personal offense at the Clockwerk rip-off, understandable really, and was a big help in taking it down. Murray dealt the finishing blows to two of the crooks that stole my stuff. Bentley was the one who uncovered who was behind all the Giant Attack Robots - having had experience with one before that was also to be expected. And Carmelita was there too, mostly just arresting the bad guys we'd taken down.

I can also slide around like I'm wearing rocket skates. That's fun.

Also I can launch exploding silver daggers like a machine gun, which is pretty neat.

I do what I can to stay the ever-loving hell away from Alucard, but I'm pretty sure he knew I was around sometimes and just didn't feel like doing anything about me. Pretty impressive considering I'm a master thief who can sneak up on people with superhuman hearing and literally turn invisible.

I also got to fight zombie-nazi's, that was a blast. Surprisingly few people died in the majors attack: teleportation is one hell of an asset.

Despite the danger and the death around every corner we actually treated this like a bit of a holiday, or very long safari. My phase ability, Phase Pierce, lets me line up a shot while outside of normal space, then shoot through damn near anything to hit a target even through walls or armour. It kicks some major ass.

I can also make even better robots, and guns... so many guns. I remember the ads in my home world boasting how due to the different stats and parts guns were made from there were 'bazillions' of guns in Borderlands, and they weren't lying. Fire guns, electric guns, guns that shoot acid, laser guns, even guns that cover enemies in this purple gunk called slag that makes them take more damage. Heck, there are guns that shoot /more guns/.

There's a lot of guns on Pandora, is what I'm saying.

Also a lot of vaults, and even more out there in space. This is going to be a crazy ten years.

Intro:
>poor out from the Eye of Ugin
"pour" out.

I feel like the companion section is a little anemic, as is the items section (which is a little overpriced, imo). I'd take another look at the Equiment in the Zendikar blocks, and drop down to 50 CP anything that any adventurer in the world could get for cash.

Lands could eb a little bit clearer. I'm not sure if they follow a jumper or what. There's also some confusion with costs, as
>All locations cost 400cp
is immediately contradicted in the description of "Basics". Easily solved by moving the relevant description to below the "Basics" section, essentially making the split between basic and non-basic more obvious.
Also, "Wastes" needs an ": " after it, like the other have.
Property import, to give an element or mana nature to lands a jumper already has would be nice.
Honestly, you could simplify the Lands section by simply saying "choose some colors (50 CP per color) and whether or not there's an elemental in the Land (100 for yes)" which would additionally let people build custom lands.

To Appease The World:
>these to forces
two forces

Also, I'd personally prefer either rolling or being able to choose when the eldrazi show up.

Thank you for the jump, in any case!

So, half the price means you can get one in every direction for the price of the original purchase, which means you can maintain proportions on what you import.

YOU FOOL, THE BIGGUS DICKUS STRATEGY IS NOW GREATER THEN EVER WITH THE ABILITY TO PURCHASE TWICE THE AMOUNT OF SIZE INCREASES. WE PROBABLY CAN GET A SOLAR SYSTEM SIZED SHIP BY JUST INVESTING ALL OF OUR CP IN THE CONVERSION AND BUYING ALL OF THE SIZE INCREASES.

ok right splaining time i'm redoint the mtg supplement to explain shit like this. ok a you cant channel massive amounts of mana at a time its hard to do and has backlash if you fuck up. mana doesn't store on its own so without a way to store it like the dreamstone hedron your shit outta luck. mana bonds get progressively harder to form the more you have so getting lots is hard. jumpers can form mana bonds with lands in settings they travel to it just wont carry jump to jump or have effects. basics are there so if you go to say star wars and get stranded on tatooine you always have a way to get blue mana and you can just have tonnes of em.

>>52718481
ok just gonna make a note on mtg lore relating to the card summoning mtg style is making a copy of something from the aether dragged to wherever you are. also you wont be channeling that much out the gates though you could spam some fairly strong pyromancy with that many mountains. basicallyland s equal pool jumper is a bucket you can make the bucket bigger but your starting bucket isn't gonna fit emmy.

I'm with this Anon here. I got companions who do whatever it takes.

Specifically Cultists from Creepy Pasta and the Minions from Overlord (Game) who are totally willing to die for me. With Cultists and all 4 Types of Minions, I pretty much got all the disposable minions who blindly follow orders as needed. Plus they always come back so why not die for me?

For the other companions, there was a perk somewhere that let them cut themselves off from emotions and go pure logic when survival was needed, to the extend they sacrifice or willingly harm themselves to do so. Blue Arepeggio I think it was? I Am A Weapon or something like that.

>ok a you cant channel massive amounts of mana at a time its hard to do and has backlash if you fuck up
It's definitely possible to do if you have the training, even for a bog-standard mortal. See Jhoira (though maybe a bad example with him having all that time to train) or that mortal guy who glassed an entire continent with a single fire spell. And Jumpers aren't normal to begin with.

>mana bonds get progressively harder to form the more you have so getting lots is hard
Where in canon are you getting this from?

Oh, you just meant the starting point? My bad, I thought you were capping people there.

>I am either misremembering something from one of the old novels or its somewhere in urzas saga i think
Fair enough. Man, this would be a lot easier if modern writers actually acknowledged mana bonds as a thing. As it is now, they just seem to draw mana out to thin air around them unless it's convenient to the plot for them not to be able to.

Mount doom has portals to elemental planes built into it, it uses those portals to make more mana by mixing all the prime elements together along with living creatures to basically pump out massive amounts of mana. At its height the doomplex could supply more mana than a god would from his worshippers. Even moreso when the dooms were all linked. See there is not just 1 mount doom, by making more dooms the portal tooms link them in the story and all the mana flows from them to doom prime. Its a massive setup and takes a lot to pull off but it is fucking awesome.

Let's see what changed then...

Race: Kor [Free] Seems good.
Drop-In [Free] Let's just appear out of nowhere.
Cultist [Free] I'm totally on board with this 'gods' thing, and not at all planning to betray all of you at the earliest opportunity. Honest.
>perks:
Chill Of The Void [Free] Aliens! They took our jobs!
A Direction Without A Name [200] Cool. Mobility and suprise.
Lithomancy [600] Lithomancy is the best. Just the best.
Gleanings Of The Faithful [Free] Could be useful, if crude.
A Feast For The Gods [300] Oooh, summoning Eldrazi. Really damn fancy.
>items:
Traveler's Boots [Free] Seems good. Comfy.
Kor Hooks [Free] Well, I can't really call myself a Kor without these, now can I?
The Unreal Crown [Kor Stipend] Really nice. Wonder if this enhances Direction Without Name...
>lands:
Basic Lands 5x [300] Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, Forest. One of each. Zendikar lands are REALLY cool, with the floating rock formations and islands and hedrons....
Bountiful Forest [400] Damn cool of a place. Wonder what kind of beasties to introduce...
>drawbacks:
Leviathan Enthusiast [+100] They're cool. Sue me.
Directionless [+200] Welp. A little help, please?
Hedron Bound [+200] Hmmm. We'll think of something. I'm sure I can find the Heart or suitable Hedrons anyway.
A Demon's Interest [+300] Ob Nixilis. At least we have a reason to fight now.
>scenarios:
...Eh. Don't really want to fight Eldrazi, and the other one's a little weird with Drop-In.

Okay. First priority, keeping the Eldrazi in their fucking cages.

Second priority, demon-binding.

Third priority, go sight-seeing with Nahiri.

Fourth priority, get some source of mana to get this Hedron off me.

Fifth priority, mess with Jace.

...Wait, scratch that, messing with Jace is second priority.

Seems doable.

Or it's because you always get a flock of rancid donuts who shit on anything that isn't high power, because we need to kill Exalted or Worm even harder.
>>
...Huh. I missed a lot of Exalted arguing last thread.

Anyway, just to clarify (if anyone still cares)...

Fetichs created by the perk were intended to be able to channel all your powers, not just your charmset.

Still subject to the short duration and willpower costs of course, so it's not a thing they can do casually or for more than short periods at a time.

They also don't get energy pools from it, using their own essence pool or whatever to fuel them if there's a cost.

Akuma can learn your powers/perks essentially in the same manner in which they would learn Yozi charms, but perks aren't actually transformed into Charms (not sure how much the distinction matters, but yeah).

More powerful abilities do get broken up into multiple "purchases", and could have higher essence minimums though.

...Also, I was wrong when I was asked about how Akuma learn charms (and thus also your powers with the perk) a while ago. To learn your powers, they'd require you (or your 3rd Circle Demons) to teach them. Not sure how I missed that when I looked it up last time?

Low-power jumps are fun for writing your jumper interacting with your favorite character, but since most people have PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER, there is little more to discuss. The solution to a problem will always be "I use this perk to win" in those jumps, and thus not really inviting to discuss them.

You want to know what perk i wish I had had EARLY? Background Knowledge - Europa Universalis.

>Background knowledge-800 CP: Not the title you’d expect from a perk that costs 800 CP, eh? But background knowledge is quite lacking among your fellows. They will often spend years flailing about in misguided business ventures, bound to fail, never recognizing wealth that in many cases rests right beneath their feet. If only that wheat farmer knew that exotic spices could be grown where he lived! If only that quarry manage knew that there was gold so close to him! Ah, but you do know. In fact, for every area and location you gain knowledge of, you will also instantly gain knowledge of every resource that can be extracted or produced at that location, as well as their values.

SINGER (Which was JUMPER's class) wanted to kill Main Chain me. They tried to fix the Nasuverse. Didn't end well for them! They sacrificed all their companions in the Chamber of Sacrifice for raw power in doing it.

But Vash refused to step in. He didn't condone suicide. That was his personal rule.

SINGER flipped out and killed him, and only then did they realize how much they fucked up. Wasn't even successful. But hey. Throne of Heroes at the very least recorded them for posterity for their somewhat okay attempt. That's a nice consultation prize?

SINGER then, upon being summoned once more, decided to kill my Jumper to save the companions and as a form of suicide.

I managed to get through to them but instead of SINGER killing me, SINGER just went to the grail and blew themselves up in a blast of purifying light, purifying the Grail and destroying it at the same time. A shard of Angra Mainyu escaped, however, leaving me to deal with it.

My jumper didn't want SINGER dying, and tried to stop them. But SINGER put up a super, super strong barrier to keep the blast in, trapping my jumper out. I saw myself blow up, right in front of my eyes.

That can really freak someone out.

In one of my previous chains, the Jumper was a native to the Madoka Magica world, and ended up chasing after Madoka alongside Homura, because Madoka had been his partner and he had ended up with feelings for her. Of course, as we know from canon, this...didn't work out, due to her making her wish and becoming a god. Since this was before the Wraith Arc jump came out, there was no way to reunite with her aside from death or gaining a Spark. So the entire chain started just so they could reach Madoka, and save her from her fate.

I mean, I'm mostly sorry it turned into bait and shitstorming, but that's not something I have control over and would happen anyways. The reason I made the vast majority of my jumps is because I wanted to jump the setting in earnest or because I wanted to see if I could actually pull it off. Sometimes this worked (Disgaea, Metroid, Boktai, etc.) and sometimes it didn't (it is way beyond my ability to make a reasonable jump out of Umineko, and I could barely slog through DxD to make something presentable).

My logic was that people are going to complain no matter what camp I fall into, so I just made the jumps as best I could. This, um...worked for some better than others. Elfen Lied and the two Heisei jumps I made alone (except Ryuki, which I'm proud of) are still pretty lazy and in need of an update.

How's your experiment going, btw?

Companion!Nika sometimes regrets not taking Bazett along since they actually kind of liked her a little well, a lot. But Bazett liked Cu more. She really helped my jumper have confidence in themselves not to run away at the first opportunity and to fight foes head on.

So they wished for Cu to have a human body so Bazett could have him when they won the Grail. Benefactor didn't make it a post chain wish since it didn't benefit Nika directly (And for story reasons). Also the Doctor wants to have minimal companions. Nika took Archer along instead because they promised to take him away from Alaya at the end of their ten years here, and they felt closer to him than Bazett.

It's weird how mundane worlds can still sometimes surprise you. I mean, underground arena battles to settle business disputes isn't new, but champion furries is a fun twist. Also, the chinese noodle carts here are all slightly sweeter in a weird way. Maybe it has something to do with how grains evolved in this world? Or maybe it's just their unique form of genetic engineering and biological modification being reflected in what seeds corporations distribute.

Anyway, I'm involved in a lot of weird fights, but I think it's mostly because i can't get a word in edgewise. It's all long-winded explanations and it'd be rude to interrupt and by the time they're finished I'm already on a boat to somewhere new to fight over rights to catfish farming or settling a tort over the use of the word "mismanage" in an otherwise glowing review.

They've learned better than to send me to deal with unsavory business. Motherfucker, I'm a giraffe. As the high-minded of all flightless animals I will not put up with this bullshit.

Yeah, I'm not fond of the current Touhou jump either, but it's serviceable and the creator left a long time ago so there's no way to get a redux approval without just more thread tug-of-war.

How would a remake even work, anyways? Enough people use the powers in it that it'd just make a fuss if they were axed. Just try to make powers their own section and add more character/flavor to the base jump?

>>
>>52721928
Powers would be in their own section, while perks would instead be based off of the actual character's personalities and actions. You could have one for cultivating a frightening and mysterious personal image, like what Remilia is trying (and mostly failing) to do, for example.
>>
>>52721994
Well, that depends on what sort of kaiju you want to be, really. There are lots. What does it mean to you, to be the strange beast?
>>
>>52721928
I think the powers bit would have worked better as a thing that you customize one of through some kind of extensive table.
It's not like many people in 2hu even have more than one and the one. That would be a bad plan a remake, but for a totally seperate attempt I think it would be good.

I think perks could be related to things that happen and the ways characters behave instead of just powers. Perhaps even perks that are references to popular fanon if you wanted to be a spicy memelord.

I would have also liked a more extensive youkai racial selection as well since as is it's pretty barren.

Godzilla the Series has a kaiju power that allows you to use any kaiju that doesn't completely outclass Godzilla as a base, gaining all their powers along with their form. I don't think the power section should even have copies of canon abilities on it.
It should be something fresh. Like the Iji jump ended up being.
>>
>>52721994
I don't know about Kaiju abominations, but the best abomination combo I can think of involves becoming a Shoggoth in Lovecraft, then going to Godzilla to get it giant-sized.
Two hundred thousand tons of iridescent, slimy black fun.

Alternately you could check out Pacific Rim and NGE. The first has an option to get a Kaiju alt-form, the second has a giant, non-'Euclidean' monster origin.
They're both pretty metal.

And on top of this, be sure to mix this all up with This Is, In Fact, My Final Form from SAO.
So you can be a non-'Euclidean', nuke-resistant metal skinned monster made of shapeshifting black slime on the inside, and can make weapons out of your body on the fly.

I don't think a replacement is in order because the jump really is servicable and people use the perks far to much for a remake to not ruin everything. If there was a fanfiction or alternate canon or basically whatever someone wanted to do a jump for I'd be pretty happy though.
>>
>>52722115
>just give me the abilities of canon characters outright
>>
>>52722087
It's no different from why people get mad when you use nonexistent jumps, because this entire discussion revolves around the what if question of whether another jump shows up to replace touhou, and I'm guessing given what some people are saying that more than a couple people know that Dirge is making suzunaan.

>>

>>52722115
2hu style powers are pretty easy to make seem like they could be canon. There's pretentious garbage and then there's a way to not be a gestalt clone of a bunch of other characters. I'd prefer the latter if at all possible.
>>
>>52722118
Who the fuck actually uses something the got out of touhou? I've never felt like it was appropriate to use any of those perks because of how much of a blatant powergrab that jump is. I don't know how someone could tolerate it.
>>
>>52722124
The closest analogue to Touhou, where everyone is a different kind of being with their own unique power, is the superhero genre. And basically every superhero jump we have gives out copies of canon powers instead of OC ones.

If someone wants to make a replacement jump, they should do it for extremely shitty jumps that we already have permission to replace, like Code Geass and Familiar of Zero, rather than one that's pretty good but not top tier.

>>
>>52722187
There's so much wrong with this statement that I could rant for an hour about how fucking stupid you are, but I'm just going to point out that basically every jump in jumpchain provides original powers or perks that aren't straight rips from canon characters, but are still thematically appropriate and aligned with what's showcased in canon.

You don't have to have straight OC either, just make an open ended thematic power perk with a supplement for effects and modifiers.
>>
>>52722215
/jc/ doesn't like true OC, it's fine with some random OC. We had an anon that made his own homebrew OC world with plant based level superpowers and shit, he got shot down really hard when he asked whether to make a jump out of it.
>>
>>52722254
This would be absolute chaos, where we'd have a dozen jumps for popular settings while a bunch of more unique ones get ignored. Plus, whenever anyone posted about any of them, there'd be a shitstorm over which version of the jump they used.
>>
>>52722263
The Modern Age is post-Crisis, but before Rebirth and New52.
>>
>>52722215
It really depends. OC stuff is good if it fits the setting and doesn't overwhealm the jump, and if it's used as a filler thing. I mean, the energy conserving staff in Sailor Moon has no basis in canon but I included that because Villains didn't get a lot of items in Sailor Moon.

And like...Starseed Awakening was blatantly pulled out of my ass but everyone else was getting more than one capstone in it, so I had to think of SOMETHING for Drop-In.
>>
>>52722254
But the thing is we already do have multiple jumps of the same setting.
Superman and Batman TAS for example. It's not even a different universe.
Not to mention the exalted jumps.
It works sometimes so I wouldn't say that it's a no fly zone.
>>
>>52722254

>>
>>52722291
>This would be absolute chaos, where we'd have a dozen jumps for popular settings while a bunch of more unique ones get ignored.
This already happens. Compare how much discussion Exalted gets compared to Kekkai Sensen. The situation wouldn't get any worse, because just having more jumps doesn't mean there's more people to discuss it. We're not going to see some magical growth in the amount of posters just because there's suddenly 10 more Exalted jumps.
>Plus, whenever anyone posted about any of them, there'd be a shitstorm over which version of the jump they used.
That's also no different from the status quo. Just look at our nonexistent jumps and WIPs.
>>
>>52722324
Exalted is divided by splat. It doesn't have several different jumps covering the same thing. What that anon was suggesting was that you could have five different Exalted: Infernals jumps to choose from.
>>
>>52722215

OC is fine.

Generic Virtual World was neat, and mostly OC.

Masters of Red is OC, probably.

You could follow its example and simply pretend it's not OC - just say its based on an obscure Vietnamese progressive science-fiction novella, which had one print run before the novelist and publishing house mysteriously vanished.

>>52722271
>And shitposting aside, I'm not sure if I want to, just because I have the sneaking suspicion folks don't so much want a new Touhou jump as more reasons to bait and shitpost.

The opinions, feelings and existence of shitposters are irrelevant. They matter less than the flower petals falling from the trees, soon to blow away.
>>
I think people are jumping to the conclusion that just because people would be allowed to make multiple jumps that they actually would.

We have something like fifty to sixty jumps on offer for replacement right now, and only two or three out of those were actually replaced. As easy as it is to say that people can make perfect jumps in a couple hours, it doesn't seem like anyone is actually doing it.

>>
>>52722215
The problem with OC is just that you need to make your own backbone to support things on. With a known franchise there's generally a wiki or a data dump to pull information from, but with OC you need to do the heavy lifting yourself and work out the details to have it actually make sense.

It's not that hard to make a jump if you have all of the information on hand, but making a jump from your own OC is no different from showing your friends the worldbuilding that you've been doing for fifteen years and trying to get them to understand it on a workable level. You'd have better luck actually writing a novel and publishing it before you make a jump out of it.

And so there we were. On... magic New Zealand? Dread Cthulhu's cousins lay dreaming beneath us and we would need to deal with them to continue our journey. However, first I needed to deal with the damn rock in my head. Despite her own mastery of the art, Nahiri found herself unable to break the bindings it placed on me. But she did know a way of doing so: plugging me directly into the hedron network, allowing all of the mana to pass through my being, destroying the hedron... and hopefully not quite destroying /me/.

Nahiri herself had mixed feelings about returning to her old home. She felt ecstatic about being back, seeing the land and the people after a millenia of being sealed away with no one but demons and myself to keep her company. But she also felt sad and she felt the regret of trying to destroy Innistrad in her madness. But she was determined to make up for it now, because this time we were going to deal with the Eldrazi permanently.

"Ready?," She asked as she finished the last of the adjustments necessary to plug me into the network. "It's going to sting a bit, you know?"

"Yeah well, no sense in standing around worrying about it," I replied, lowering my own defenses that could interfere with the process. "Hit the switch."

Power flowed through me. BURNED through me. The raw mana was overwhelming, exhilarating. Painful and pleasurable beyond words. But there was something else, something old and incomprehensible. My mind brushed against a slumbering Titan and my soul reeled. Then, as soon as it had begun, it was over. I felt the hedron shatter, vaguely heard Nahiri's voice, and then fell into darkness.

I awoke most of an hour later to Priscilla's face staring down at me, her healing magic flowing through me in place of the mana the hedrons directed through me from the wild mana of the world. Dante and Alucard both made some remark that I'm sure they thought was hilarious. I rolled over and conjured a blanket over my head. "Five more minutes.

If he finishes Suzunaan I guess Ibarakasen and Sangetsusei are technically up for grabs. From what I've seen he's focusing largely on the human village aspect for Suzunaan which does make sense, so that leaves Ibarakasen for the more youkai focused parts and Sangetsusei for purely slice of life?

We'd still have to find someone willing to do it though.

For the next order of business, I went to talk to a demon. He wasn't that hard to find, all things considered. For an ancient Planeswalker, he didn't do much to ward against scrying. I found him skulking in a cave, deep a swamp, appropriately enough.

I stood at the mouth of his cave, ready for any traps or ambushes. "Nixilis! I've come to bargain!" I spoke loudly into the cave. For several minutes, there was no reply. Then he melted out of the shadows, walking to the edge of the cave. His glowing yellow eyes pierced into mine and his mouth twisted into a cruel smirk.

"Oh?," He spoke in a voice that was perfectly fitting for his twisted form. "You have my curiosity."

"Good, because I know a few things that may interest you," I returned his smile. "I know what you are. What you were. I know what that Kor did to you, all those years ago. And most of all, I know how to set you free."

His face was neutral now. I could feel him searching my words for deceit or trickery. Apparently finding none, he smiled again and twisted his head to the side. "And I suppose you're doing this for free?"

"Sorry friend, but it doesn't work that way. I will require compensation... but it will be something inconsequential to you."

"And what, pray tell, would that be?"

"Nothing, at the moment," I shifted to lean against the tree behind me. "I will set you free, return your power and glory to you. And you will owe me no loyalties or favors. But someday you will fall in battle, as most of your kind do. And when you do, all of your powers will become mine." I stretched out my hand.

I saw him contemplate it. Saw him search my words for truth and find it. Then he smiled again, a predator's smile, and took my offered hand. "Very well then."

The deal was struck. The power shifted around us. I tapped his hedron, this one not protected against my powers, and it shattered. Wings unfolded from his back and I felt the power unfurl from his soul. The demon laughed triumphantly.

"I'm sorry, am I interrupting anything?" Nahiri asked as she steeped through the stone of the cave wall behind the demon.

"You!" The demon spun around to face her, his triumphant satisfaction turning to rage. "You were-"

"I was," She said and snapped her fingers. A ring of hedrons floating around the cave thrummed with power as the circle closes. No one was leaving here until Nahiri was ready or dead. "But not anymore."

The demon returned to face me. "Treachery. Of course. I was a fool to agree to your terms."

"I know, right?" I laughed a little, drawing rage from the monster. "You'd think a demon would know what happens when you make a deal with the devil."

Nahiri plunged her hand into the stone of the wall as easily as in a pool of water and withdrew a master-crafted blade, still cherry red and dripping slag.

most jumps nowadays either make it explicit or assume it implicitly. If you bought a CP item, you have a CP item. If it gets lost or destroyed, you STILL have a CP item.

The Incredibles costumes explicitly talks about making changes to the costumes in the jump, IIRC. Remember there is a costume designer background there, and costume improvements comes up in the movie itself. Costumes being improved is a explicit part of the setting.

No, Quicksilver made an explicit ruling about Companions coming back to life if killed. The idea that all items respawn, even if the jump doesn't mention it, is just a near universal change to the original rules, just like ignoring diminishing returns.

Nahiri is an angry motherfucker due to her plane getting screwed over because of negligence.
She held Sorin responsible for the mess since he didn't stop it and so she got back at him by wrecking his stuff too.

Also a jump supplement, so you are getting it from a jump by spending CP. Ditto blue flowers.

>Also, some transformation magics.
If something like a animal/pet gains human intelligence they get left behind UNLESS the uplift was done by you or a companion and you consider that makes you their parent according to your jump rules. Whether children are companions is left to the individual jumper. But in that case, yeah, I would spend some CP on them pronto to make sure they have CP protections.

I don't plan on doing much interesting with it. I just plan on purchasing Team Suits and doing some basic upgrading across the board. I think he was trying to make names without using some sort of root origin or any linguistic association, so not many of the names come from immediately recognizable families.

On the scale of conlanging names it's actually not that bad. Not that intricate, but also not that bad. The main problem generally isn't so much the name as it is the function of the person, which some of those people mentioned do suffer from.
>>
>>52723095
In the past, another two Planeswalkera were supposed to come help her reseal the Eldrazi when they woke up. They didn't come. One because Bolas had killed him and the other because he got busy setting up defenses on his own Plane that prevented her signal from reaching him.

She sealed them and then went to check on him because she thought he must be dead or in danger. But when she showed up, he was like "nope, just forgot. lul". So she got super pissed off and almost killed Avacyn, who the other Planeswalker bad just made. So he sealed her away in an inescapable magic prison for a millennia that was slowly filled up with demons. Understandably, she was more than a little unhinged when the prison eventually blew up and she escaped.

But one scenario in Innistrad seals you inside the prison with her and if you can talk her down after you get out, she becomes a companion. And, well, when you're sealed in darkness with someone for a thousand years with no one but that person and a bunch of assumed demons for company, you end up getting pretty close with them.

Kill Jack Slash and then convince Scion to fuck off to another galaxy and kill himself.
>>
>>52723423
Also, find a way to remove the endbringers, because they'll destroy humanity on their own eventually if Eidolon doesn't die.
>>
>>52723394
Get Scion to live with purpose or to kill himself with perfect communication skills early and the entire apocalypse gets shut down before it even starts.
You don't even need to fight anyone. Although if you can remove Jack Slash things get better.
>>
>>52723373
This is part of what becomes a problem when you're trying to turn OC into a jump or having somebody else do it, because the original direction and purpose came from you, and transferring that over isn't something that your bunch of pastebins does very well.

The group of pastebins transfers over a shell of a setting pretty well, but the parts that need work come from your worldbuilding foundation, and this isn't really the thread to give you advice on that.
>>
>>52723423
All I know about Scion is "he's da bestest"
And Jack slash is a psycho with cut good powers how the hell does the second end the world?
>>
>>52723394
First, kill Jack Slash. Not hard if you have some way to spoof the information his shard sends him about your intentions. This will prevent him from setting Scion off early.

Next, go to Cauldron. Convince them of the truth of your nature as a jumper, then offer to solve the Scion for them a decade from now if they're willing to hold off on starting Golden Morning early. They actually want the apocalypse to come sooner, because they believe that with the Endbringers' actions, humanity will be too weak by the point Scion would naturally start killing everyone. Should the theory that Eidolon is responsible for awakening and subconsciuously guiding the Endbringers be true (it's not actually confirmed, though heavily implied), finding a way for him to shut them off will help the negotiations significantly.

Now the world won't end until a couple years after the jump does, so you've got time. You can either return after you've gotten your spark (hopefully with some time manipulation so you can go right back to the moment you left, otherwise you'll have to make it your first jump) or use those ten years coming up with a way to stop Scion. Diplomacy may work, Scion is kind of an idiot savant and easily convinced if you can actually get his attention for a conversation. He's also horribly depressed, he eventually starts killing people just because helping people wasn't making him feel any better, so why not try the opposite? Playing on that emotional vulnerability is likely your best bet.

Jack Slash talks Scion into ending the world. He doesn't just have a cutting power, he also has the communication power that Entities use to talk to each other. That's the source of his plot armor, he can read the thoughts of any Entity-based being (including parahumans) as well as subtly influence them. That's how he talks Scion into starting his rampage, he knows exactly what to say to set him off.

As for what Scion does, he only has a few powers. The first is that Scion himself is in another dimension, the thing you see flying around is just a projection. As such, it's essentially invulnerable, he can always just send it more energy and matter to replace whatever it loses. He has a finite amount, but it's a huge finite amount, planets worth. His pocket dimension is shielded against intrusion, too, it's not impossible to get there but it is difficult. The most reliable way is actually to shoot the projection with an attack that works by warping space, that will widen the channel he uses to reinforce it. The trandimensional nature also means he can make it travel between dimensions, he's just shifting the coordinates of where it is.

He only has two other powers, but they're doozies. The first is "stilling", the ability to neutralize any form of energy or matter by dampening its wavelength. That gives him a lot of powers: disintegration blasts, gravity nullification, energy shields, etc. He can dial the effect down from precise enough to excise the cancer from a person or large enough to destroy continents. The second power he has is perfection. He has something like Contessa's "Path to Victory" power, but he's much more stingy with the energy costs. So he can, for brief periods, chart a perfect path to whatever goal he desires, and follow along it. Fortunately, there's a free perk in the jump that makes you immune to it. He can still make hypothetical models of what you might do, but given how uncreative he is that's not a big problem.

When you make a setting from scratch, deciding on a nomenclature system is important, because the choice of a name ties in to what the character is supposed to do. If you're writing for an audience, you don't want names that are completely alien to that audience which would make it even harder for the audience to relate. The choice of a name makes a large impact in terms of expectations or the lack thereof.

But on top of that when you're making a cast list from scratch, the role that each character is supposed to have is more important than the name alone. The author tells a lot about some of the characters, like Yhatt and Sei, but telling your audience is different from showing your audience. Saying that Sei is a major character doesn't make much of a difference when that character doesn't seem fleshed out enough to be a major character. The pastebin is like a barely fleshed out dossier, it doesn't give a very good idea of how these characters interact with one another, it only hints at the potential conflicts that they have, and the two of these factors combined together makes putting a narrative together difficult.

Different worldbuilders have different approaches to this, but it normally overlaps with how authors would make their characters. In the case of the scenario pastebin, because the information is so sparse and there's a very jargon heavy foundation without much support, the addition of the characters comes off as weak, because they don't have a very well defined connection.
>>

Well, it was literally all prep work anyway. It wasn't even ready to be made into a wip yet because I didn't even have items or misc. perks fully fleshed out. The actual scenarios were to be done last, after everything else was finished.

It's not like I don't realize it's not fully fleshed out; it was never finished in any sense. It's still useful, valuable critique, but it would have been more valuable had I heard it a year ago when I was still working on it.
>>
>>52723662
>>52723954
I already brought up Sei as an example of where the author falls into the problem of telling too much but revealing too little, but the other major characters aren't exempt from this either.

Beiryl for instance, we're told is the first Gardener, but his entire dossier only gives you a look at two, three major achievements in his past, before jumping immediately to his character perspective. This doesn't give much for a second writer (the jumper writer) to work with, because sure he's supposed to be an outgoing guy and takes things easy, but we have no clue what he's like aside from that. There's nothing to help establish why he is the way he is, or how his past came into play outside of going rogue. We don't know if him collapsing society had to do with his attitude, or if his attitude was a result of him collapsing society. He could be extremely dangerous due to his status as first Gardener, or he could just be a retired nobody now (aside from the author saying he's a major character). It's even harder to write Beiryl as a character given the information we have because there's so little go on.

Sham, despite being a main character, feels like a niche character who is only propped up by his Leaf Maximum title, because the entirety of his dossier focuses exclusively on one character trait - his sneakiness and affinity for subterfuge. We're told how he would react to a situation, we're never told how he actually involves himself into a situation, despite being apparently a leader.

Elsen, Iempheros, and Rema all end up feeling like the stereotypical faction heads, not exactly worthy of being major entities, even if they're big players, but that's because the material which the author gave us set up a world with a very ambiguous scale to begin with. Without more information to really pin down where the key action is and who it involves in addition to satellite action, these three and their sparse descriptions feel rather replaceable.

>>
>>52724057
I think I commented on this way back when you first pitched the idea, though you were more focused on how powers would work back then.

The fact of the matter is that you would have been much better served working on this on /wbg/ and not here. It isn't a matter of expertise but just interest, what you need to be doing is building a solid foundation for your world, because at the end of the day a jump is an approximation, a generalization. If what you have is already a generalization, making a jump of it will only result in something extremely vague without enough concrete material to fall back on.

But that's the whole reason behind why there's the meme that worldbuilders build ten years for a single game, because you need some much of that extra information to account for the questions that your players will have, even if over 90% of what you make will never be used.

You actually just need immunity to precognition. His power isn't actually splitting timelines, it's actually a precognitive ability mixed with a simulation of what would have happened in a timeline where things went differently. Be immune to precognition (beyond the baseline shard precognition-immunity that the OCP perk grants you) and you'd be a blind spot in his simulations.

As for why he wasn't running the country, mostly because he started in a very disadvantageous position and even with his powers helping him was extremely cautious about making his moves. He's only got two "timelines" running at once, so he can only have insurance for one choice at a time. So if he splits the timeline to see if his bank robbery scheme works, he has to wait before he's done checking that one out before he can try his blackmail scheme.

Honestly though, you're right, I didn't do the best job building up the conflict, characters, and I hadn't really put as much though into a plot as I probably should have.

The thing is though, I feel like I failed to communicate something almost fundamental about the themes of the setting, which was supposed to be exemplified b most of the characters; that nobody has any control over anything, or really even understands what or why they're doing the things they do as they're doing them. Every other character's role relative to a jumper would be someone else trapped somehow by their circumstances.

Everyone in the entire world if helpless to forces beyond them, and are inevitably victims of their own nature and creatures of habit. They are who they are because they were grown that way, and their faults are inherent to their very existence.

The T.E. network is constantly fucking with Leaf's and Vein's minds, compelling them to do seemingly innocuous things which advances it's agenda step by step. Working Errors are so fucked up I hardly need to justify them doing something crazy, they universally perceive the world in a way completely alien from the way humans to, and it's an irreconcilable difference inherent to who they are.

Beiryl almost destroyed the world when he becomes the first Gardener, and he didn't even know what the hell he was doing until after it had happened. It was a complete accident, but after it happened he realized that with that the world as it was, he couldn't return even if he wasn't imprisoned in the Garden.

Sei wouldn't even be a person until more than halfway through the jump, at which point she slowly transitioned from an incoherent mass of instincts into a retarded puppy, and eventually developing far enough mentally to start resembling a person. She is as rooted to the T.E. Field as anything else, ultimately trapped by is as any Gardener.
