The Skeleton because it means I can have it do the boring shit I learn to do with The Eye.

The Succubus because I'm a thirsty virgin.

I agree with this anon. Eye and Skeleton to obtain new skills that the skeleton uses for me, and Succubus for someone to do while the skeleton works.

So it's not exactly a CYOA, yet, but I am working on some civilization generation tables, here's a few examples thus far:

"Race: Catgirls (East Asian)
Culture: Central European
Alignment: True Netural
Territory: Tropical (Savanna) / Hills
Government: Imperial
Domestic Priority: Scientific
International Priority: Unconventional (Balance of Power + Ideology: Liberalism)
National Perks: Colonial, Trade, Massed Infantry
Suit: Hearts

Race: Human (South Asian)
Culture: South Asian
Alignment: Neutral Good
Territory: Temperate (Mediterranean) / Flatlands
Government: Oligarchic
Domestic Priority: Industrial
International Priority: Esoteric (Grand Ritualism)
National Perks: Espionage, Elite Soldiers
Suit: Clubs

Race: Elf (Western/Northern European)
Culture: Eastern European
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Territory: Temperate (Highland) / Flatlands
Government: Dictatorial
Domestic Priority: Intelligence
International Priority: Imperialism (Economic Domination)
National Perks: Administrative, Industrious
Suit: Spades"

Thinking about turning this into a nation building CYOA, but at least it will be a rollable tool.
>>
>>52665358
Is there a question?

>rollable
Don't.
>>
>>52665314
Excellent premise but poor execution. Especially since it's almost unwinnable.
>>
>>52665563
I consider it like one of those challenge cyoa's. You're given tools but not the tools to succeed, just to help. its all on you as an individual to win or lose.
>>
>>52663635
I wonder what goes through an author's head when they completely wreck their own cyoa with a single option.
>>
>>52665586
I don't understand the people like you who randomly post shit ITT. At least you quoted the thing you're replying to but nobody knows what the fuck you're talking about.
>>
>>52665585
>take this spoon, fight a dragon

The "enemies" are basically extremely enhanced versions of your own allies in greater numbers. Your own powers are weak. Time is running.

For good measure there came 57 before you, so odds are against you in all ways.
>>
Is Zodiac anon here? Can you give the sauce artist from this pic?
Her smug face makes me feel weird in a lewd way
>>
>>52665619
You don't?

Abyssal Blood. Almost half your points, but you become an eldritch deity/monster/god after several millenia. So you either build a proper demiplane (almost no one did this) or pick abyssal blood, make yourself comfy, and wait for godhood.

That one option defeats the purpose of the cyoa.
>>
>>52665586
>>52665619
MAYBE the last option? No idea though, i mean, i've played that one multiple different ways before and opinion is fine but damn, wtf is he saying.

>>52665677
Bull shit, plenty of people made other damn builds.
>>
>>52665314
>Prissy
I'm not happy about it, but I'm not going on the frontlines, and extra companions will be necessary.
>Ma
Knowledge is power.
>Grandma
Having the government on our side will be invaluable.
>Olaf
I'll need at least one person who can fight if it comes to it.
>Blue blood
Diplomancers are always have stength in numbers, and being a good don would almost require this.

I assume that being a prissy would give me a chance to get 3 before getting their attention?
If I can get all 3 first, then good. If not, I'd go Grandma-Olaf-Ma.
>Vampires
The most dangerous with time to plan, and the other two probably wouldn't work together too well, since the dragons would likely want to eat the lesser god.
>>
>>52665686
It's objectively bad design for a single option in a cyoa to overshadow all others.

Imo the cyoa would be better without it, or as an ominous freebie (watch out you don't lose your sanity in this plane of yours, because that's how the mad gods come to be)

Can't be a trap and I never play a female, so I might as well enjoy the extra strength and ability to do frontline work... also, I opt out of old age.
>Yellow Blood
because supernatural luck to cover all the odds of misc plot/magic of Lesser Gods and Dragons while aiding in blitz attacks while doing frontline work.

>Purged Enemy - Vampires
Gotta clear up the government from being directly controlled by them... Dragons and Lesser Gods would be a problem, but the Lesser Gods are coming back any ways and maybe I can sick some Chthulean horrors on them.

The lack of direct intent or direction on a macro level should aid my "supernatural luck", to tap the chaos factor.

>Tirvaca, Voidling, Mage
Gonna need him for the Lesser Gods and maybe against the Dragons, or whatever minions they can summon.
Morally he is undesireable, but that might aid his zeal to purge the Lesser Gods and Dragons. Plus, help keep the criminal underworld "honest".
>Olaf, Minor God, Enforcer
definitely gonna need him for the Dragons... and as backup doing frontline work

The terrain cost doubling seems a little draconian, IMO. Maybe 'all choices after your first cost twice their listed score', but constant doubling is a bit depressing for something that's basically just aesthetic.

Anyway, I'll try it regardless.

Terrain (20):

Biomechanical (10)
Lake (10)

That gets me a pretty diverse and interesting world since lake comes with free wetland and Biomechanical can replicate a lot of other terrain features in a more alien way.

Estate (140):

Magical Focal Tower (20)
Hospital (10)
Settlement of 10,000 (20)
Planar Affinity (10)
Mages (15)
Automata (10)
AI Automated Workshop (25)
Portal (10)
College with Eldritch Studies (20)

Decent mixture of magic and technology, with an eye towards the long game: I can probably be taught magic at the college, the workshop combined with the automata will let me go more high tech in the future and gives me hope of repairing the portal if damaged. Eldritch studies isn't as immediate as cosmic knowledge, but is a lot cheaper and hopefully will come to the same thing eventually. Planar Affinity lets me slowly unlock all the other terrains to make the place way more diverse and fun eventually.

Gifts (90):

Immortality (10)
Charisma (15)
Mythical Steed (25)
Eldritch Bride (40)

Immortality is obligatory, and I'll trust in my magic studies to eventually let me replicate most of the other gifts since I have forever to study. Not really interested in a waifu with no free will, but I am interested in turning 40 points into 90.

Eldritch Bride (90):

Immortality (10)
Summoning, Greater (35)
Two Legendary Weapons (20)
Artificer Armour (25)

I'll not make her have to love me unconditionally, but since she's still perfect waifu and I have Charisma, odds are still strongly in my favour. I'll take her second legendary weapon, we can share armour (adjusting in workshop to fit), we can use Summoning to make pacts to get us other things as needed, especially if I need to pact to get magic potential.

>>
Aren't vehicles kinda big? I mean, an APC is half as big as a fighter.
>>
>>52666753
Trucks are kinda big I guess but it really depends on what "big" is. I wouldn't consider a regular car "big". I mean, have you seen horses?
>>
>>52666830
No, I mean, we have a jeep, then we have a boarding ship that is 3x as big and a dropship that is 4x as big and equal in size to a fighter.

I mean, being starcraft/starship trooper dropships is okay, but I kinda expected BattleTech.
>>
>>52663635
>Terrain
Caverns (240)
Lake (230)
Woodland (210)

I imagine a dense forest, with a lake in the middle. Beneath this lake, deep within the natural caverns, a path leads to an island in the middle of the lake. My estate exists partially on this island and stretches to the expansive caverns below. Without the coastline option, I'm not sure how far this Plane stretches. Endless forest, maybe? Maybe a rework would benefit from an "Edge of the World" category like The Village CYOA

>Estate
Settlement with electricity and plumbing (195)
Planar Affinity (185)
Tavern with Excellent Food (175)
Hi-Tech Hospital (150)
Harem (135)
Mages (120)
College with eldritch knowledge (100)
Library (90)
Automata (80)
Workshop (70)

My people live as I do. The homes surround my above ground estate and, like my estate, they exist both above and below. The caverns hold our secrets, a college of magic and eldritch lore serviced by a great library, a place of gathering, a hospital and workshop of great innovation, and automata who keep this all in good shape and maintain the strange power grid.

I wonder if we'd benefit from a Portal, allowing the the best and brightest in, as well as aiding my old world. But that may invite more problems than it solves. It's also a shame that the Cosmic Knowledge option for the library is so expensive, but maybe we'll be happier not knowing.

>Powers
Regeneration (50)
Charisma (35)
Immortality (25)
Super Strength (15)
Elemental Magic (0)

Survivability, versatility. I'd drop elemental magic if it mentioned mages/college can provide this ability, but in lieu of that I have to assume i have no magic ability unless a magic Power is taken.

Anybody know what the difference between versions 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 is?

Also I was thinking of a carrier build, but there's something I thought of that doesn't seem to have an answer in the CYOA itself. If I take ship weapon specialization, does that boost the weapons of those types on drones that my ship launches too, or only the main ship weapons?

Room cost reductions and a few other minor corrections.

Specialization says it only applies to the ship you're piloting; I would say it applies to drones you launch, but not fighters or frigates that have pilots of their own. I'm not SDA, though; I just like his world.

don't think it applies to drones. I think they're almost standalone units and don't have to be assigned to given ship, you just have to have enough room for them.

Also remember that bigger drones like brawlers get only 1 (one) free weapon, the rest costs money.

4 broadside torpedos
2 Point-defense Flak Cannons.

For mere 646 millions you can outfit your Carrier with 10 wasps that can bring down Mothership with ease
And for 40 extra millions they would be upgraded with Banshee command mod into "Autistic Screeching squadron" able to destroy any shield and pierce any armor

It says that you can do up to 2 or 3 jobs other than piloting yourself, but then in the gunner section it says you need at least one if you have any weapons installed, same with Digital Security room.

Can't you just do the gunning and cyber stuff by yourself?

Her waist isn't too skinny, her head's too large.
Her waist looks fine compared to the rest of her body.

It's a weird pattern with anime, like a cross between cartoons and pin-up.

yes, but you need to reach that medium range of enemy ship you want to zap with gun and since those ships are not equiped to last long (2 HA and 1-5 SS) they will die quickly

Prove that this isn't objectively the funniest destroyer tactic, you can't.

That said, I do wish it was possible to put extra hangar space on a frigate at the cost of navigation, so I could put my drones on a cheaper base ship. Rhino with 16 hangars, filled with 32 Scout Drones would be glorious./spoiler]

Regeneration, Rank 3 (16)
Holy Aura (18)

Pegasus (3)

Jousting Lance, Rank 3 weapon (5)
Air Belt, Rank 3 (11)
Crossbow, Rank 1 Ranged Weapon (12)

I be chatting up them sky ladies.

>>52667733
Only thing I'm thinking of changing is hull reduction mods. I don't think it's a good thing to have destroyers move as fast as fighters because holy shit that's game breaking in my eyes.

At the very worst, I may tweak defensive values but I'm comfortable with the gun hardpoints and hangar spaces they have now.

Cruisers And battleships are likely going to see a small buff to hangar spaces, but must enough to make more sense given their size.

I think people keep interpreting my needs for slight balance changes to be "aww man my ship is gonna be the worst in the CYOA now".

Trust in me, friends. Trust in SDA.

No, we just know you have a sadistic hardon for weak protagonists which means that no matter what happens, you won't stop updating Stardust until the average build is exceedingly humble and relies on the protection of your faction.

I guess it kind of is with CYOAs that have drawbacks, but even then you're usually still on the same power level but with more options.

Here each tier is head and shoulders better then the rest, but has increasingly more responsibility and less happiness.

Also nice build.

Reason: Protection/Conquest(if favorable)
Tank Type: Artillery-Class

Commander Skills: Morale + Strategy

Upgrades: Sniper + Camouflage + Phoenix Rounds
Operator: Pierre Locksley
Gunner: Marcelle Browing
Driver: Penny Hathway
Mechanic: Agnes Kagutsuchi

Mission: All of them.
>Stats:
Cannon: 5.5 (2[tank class] + 0.5[commander strategy] + 3[crew])
Armour: 5.5 (1[tank class] + 4[crew] )
Speed: 5 (5[crew])
Tactics: 6.5 (1[tank class] + 1.5[commander morale] + 1[commander strategy] + 3[crew])

The final stats ended up surprisingly balanced for what I was expecting. That said, frequently I would use Marcelle special skill so that canon get 6.5 stat and speed only 4. The idea is operate just like a sniper would (and with the sniper help), moving stealthy and fast if possible, and doing big damage from the distance. Tactics and Cannon would be the main stats, tactics because I may end up heavily dependent on the sniper. Because this is my intention of tactics for ALL missions, I guess the 25% increase in chance of success from Pierre would always be active, that’s why I choose him over Eleonore. The other characters were chosen just because they were the best in upgrading their function related stat.
I think it’s a solid build to most missions be fine, what most concern me is Skaldland Countryside, because killing enemy infantry in mass with Phoenix Rounds may be a problem because of civilians. I don’t fear tanks in general, only other infantry tanks with ablative armour may be a big problem, hopefully I can spot and destroy them before the reverse.

DLC:

Expanded Crew (Akeldama[canon])
Mission: All of them.

>Final Stats:
Cannon: 7
Armour: 5.5
Speed: 5
Tactics: 6.5

In practice, again, cannon most of the time will have stat 8 and speed 4. I guess with 8 cannon I should be able to one-shot most things and enemies with ablative armour won’t be that much more of a problem. I guess the Phoenix Rounds also probably will one shot the zombies, so Lumiere Rounds won’t be so much important.

H O P E

Just started on this one. Needs a lot of work, but...

My dear, dear friend. My dearest of all friends. The one friend I never got to meet while I was breathing...

If this missive comes as a shock, I am not surprised. Our conversations have always been brief and glib, but I sensed in you a kindred spirit unlike any other. And since you will, in time, understand why I have done this - and that it is due to affection, and not loathing or worse - I leave you my curse.

Take heart - you will be able to choose the manner in which the curse manifests (one of many things I have negotiated, for lack of a better term, during my time as its host) and my estate will be able to leave you with a few boons to make your new duties easier.

Good luck. May health remain with you as long as you have breath, and may you ever escape the gaze of She Who Waits.

-(ILLEGIBLE SIGNATURE.)

PS: I know I still owe you a Coke. That's being taken care of as well.

=========

MANIFESTATIONS - Choose two.

=Shadow=
Your shadow has a life of its own. When it is dormant, it will flicker and move in ways that are unnerving and unnatural, but hard to pin down. When it awakens, you will be able to hear its whisperings, malevolent and muted, as it plots to take what it can never have - your body. Take care. Your shadow is older than you, older than any of us, and it has seen things that no one alive could know of.

=Skin=
The replacement of your epidermal layer will be painless, although it will itch for the first year or so. It will not stand to see you injured, unless it is especially angry at you, but it transmits what it wants you to know via touch, not everything there is to know. If anyone asks about the change in your complexion, assure them that the lawsuit against the skin cream company is ongoing.

navigation for big ships can be nerfed only four ways:
1.different cap than 25 -crude way, but does it's job
2. lower their standard speed - worst way, punishes even those that don't won't sanic speed
3. Less afterburner stacks - so for bigger ship maximum upgrades would be 2 or 3, cuts min-maxers where it will hurts? Could be changed to +% navigation so slower the ship worse the addition
4. Hull reduction change, as right now it's free +2 navigation for those who doesn't need so many extra rooms

I don't see any other ways of changing speed question
>>
>>52669266
=Blood=
Your blood boils inside you. It drives you onward, eternally furious, eternally restless. Sleep is a memory, the very notion of rest a fevered hallucination. Both are for the weak. Your duty drives you, and anything that would stand in your way is meaningless.

=Boils=
The sores are never visible; they typically manifest in the throat and mouth. During lulls in the infection, they will present with a quiet, throbbing ache - no more, no less. When they flare, however, eating will become agonizing (at best) and you will be unable to speak intelligibly - unless you're talking to someone with a working knowledge of Sumerian.

=Hand=
Your left hand is now useless from the wrist down. You can hold a pen in it if you focus, but nothing else. The fingers will not respond, and you cannot feel any sensory input but an occasional phantom pain. Take heed when it does decide to move - it knows nothing of subtlety, and will try to complete its tasks in the most brutally direct way possible.

=Bone=
You know things, deep down inside - more literally than anyone can know. The neural tissue growing in packets inside your bones will eventually give you, in effect, a second mind - one subservient to the first, but one that interfaces oddly. It does not process things in a way that is easily understood - and pray you do not break an arm. A seizure is bad enough with one brain to worry about...

=Dread=
Oh dear.
Well, I suppose you made your choice. The lack of a visible hindrance may be a boon to you for some years, but... well, I'd use those years well. You will have less time to master your curse than I did. And I suppose there is something to knowing that you will never know the all-erasing silence of oblivion.
>>
>>52669222
Yeah. It wouldn't make sense, unless you write it so it does.

But like I said, it's up to your interpretation. Maybe some else has a different idea, so long as it works.

>>52669240
There's always hope.
>>
>>52669266
Is this going to have a happy ending or is it just going to confirm my belief to NEVER BEFRIEND, TRUST OR TALK TO ANYONE BECAUSE THEY WILL GET YOU WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT!
>>
>>52669134
Let's say I took a destroyer and crammed as many scout, combat, brawler, and even bomber drones in it as I could fit with max hangar space upgrades. Then I took the Rogue Drones contract up to Tier 4. How deadly would my drones be? Also, could a Combat Repair Drone repair other drones, could a Shield drone protect them, and do command mods that benefit allied ships (PI Control V6, BH Command VR, MI520 "Visage") affect drones? In short, if I took a destroyer, capped out the hangar space at the highest possible (either the Wolf or the PI Vd3), and filled it with drones, how badly could I fuck people up without ever fighting them in person?
>>
>>52669301
Looks like you might need to update the crew archetype numbers depending on the descriptions on the 1st page, and I'm not talking about the cost.
>>
>>52668726
No, the tweaks and buffs to bigger ships probably won't come till next week when SDA will have a bit if free time.
>>
>>52669292
DUTIES - Choose one.

=The Ill=
The hospital has not been updated in thirty years. The basic equipment has, yes, but the facade and the administrative machinery... and the advanced diagnostic equipment... have all been frozen as they are, so as to better serve their patients. They are not like us, though you are kin, in a manner of speaking. It will be your duty to ensure that they are cared for, and that the disease does not spread. I regret to inform you, however, that your staff will only scratch double-digits for individuals on duty at any given time. They are well-trained, but to them, it is not duty - just a job.

=The Forgotten=
To be written. Library that holds things man has forgotten. Will attract seekers of Serene Knowledge.

=The Apostate=
Those that learned the truth about the Gods. Followers of the New Path. Heretics.

=The Wretched=
Victims of the First Conspiracy. Nameless, non-entities. The underclass of the underclass. Criminals with no other path.

=The Delirious=
Enlightened beyond enlightenment. Aware of the existence of All. Gibbering, unintelligible but for spurts. Must be watched carefully. Especially when they escape.

=The Fitful=
Possessed. They that contain things that can never be let out. Living containment vessels. They will last longer than you.

BOONS - Choose two - haven't written these yet.

BANES - You must choose one - no man is touched this way without notice. For each Bane after the first, you may choose another Boon.

>Legend.
I always want the farthest reaching adventures. There's a time and a place for the local, the personal and the more intimate antics, but at the end of the day I love the idea of working toward goals that are earth-shaking in their nature even if no one ever knows of them. A hunter of the grand, glorious and terrible yet keeps a low profile because most of my actual quarry are outside-context problems for most people.

>Dragoon
Small creatures can still turn the tide of events, and size is one of many ways to be powerful and dangerous. Besides, flying around through the air sounds like it'll be a blast to practice with.

Precision I (Dragoon)
Sentient Sympathy (3/30)
Magic 4 (Light) (16/30)
Endurance 3 (26/30)
Improved Lung 2 (28/30)
Regeneration I (29/30)
Strength I (30/30)

Kraken King Companion (4/5)

Air Belt III (Dragoon+3/8)
Weapon III: One-handed short-spear.

The Kraken and I have gotten along pretty well since our initial rocky start. Grasping tentacles weren't able to catch me warping around in illumination, while I was hard-pressed to get a real good jab in and had to focus my magic defensively. The commotion caught the attention of some big sea-serpent that we both turned on and, a bit of a fight and a meal later we started establishing communication; gestures, light patterns, color-patterns on its skin, etc.; King's pretty smart. Since I'd managed to befriend the thing, I got moved almost immediately to aquatic transit protection. Suits me just fine, traveling the world and so forth. Good gig, helping people get where they're going safely, and occasionally deviating to go see if we can catch some island-sized shark or giant enemy crab, or some other freaky fish thing down in the depths that comes up under the moonlight.

And then She came along. Really going to hope I can convince the handlers that her reputation is well earned and worth a bit of a shuffle on assets. Hope I can sell them on the idea of an unstoppable duo.

Tier: Legend
Specialization: Assassin

Powers (30 tokens):

Strength: Second Rank (4)
Precision: Second Rank (5)
Magic: Second Rank, Air (5)
Regeneration: Third Rank (5)
Endurance: First Rank (2)
Stealth: Third Rank (4)
Improved Lung: First Rank (1)
Beast Eye: First Rank (1)
Beastmaster (3)

Companions (10 tokens):

Horse (0)
Raven (0)
Dragon Whelp (2)
Phoenix (3)
Roc (5)

Equipment (20 tokens):
Weight Belt: Air, Rank 2 (3)
Weapons: Rank 3 non-elemental longsword (5)
Ranged Weapons: Rank 1 longbow (1)
Stealth Satchel: Rank 4 (7)
Heavy Armor: Laminar Entwood (4)

Challenge:
Mega-Yandere

I'm superbly well-suited to the position of Assassin, with abilities that let me fight on par with pretty much anyone. My attacking strength is good but not top-tier, but my absolute regeneration makes me pretty much impossible to stop. I can also effectively fly with my magic and air belt combined, which is nice. I'm actually a shockingly good Titan slayer for an assassin thanks to my maxed-out poison, which I can direct with my air manipulation.

If possible I want to actually hide my powers and live as a Great Hunter, which I think should be doable given my perfect stealth ability and flexibility allowing me to replicate the skills of pretty much any specialisation. I'll hide my control over the Roc and Phoenix.

This is especially handy with Mega-Yandere, since it means I can follow her to other cities without too much trouble and avert a large-scale crisis. If I really can't pretend to be a Great Hunter for some arbitrary reason, I'm fine going rogue. Both of us are unkillable, she's already immortal and will make me immortal, and we can use our stealth powers to pretend to be ordinary and spend time in cities whenever we get tired of living as outsiders. This is also really good because being immortal means that one day my Dragon whelp will reach full ancient form, giving me an awesome ally who's presumably way more friendly to me than the standard ancient dragon.

>>
>>52671747
Gib a sec. Might be able to find you a torrentless crack. You'll need a moderately decent conection, though. Expect it to take upwards of an hour otherwise. Although depends on what CS you need. If it's CS5, I got the crack on my comp still. Could just up to Dropbox or MAB. If you prefer any other CS, I'll need to look for the crack.
>>
How do you feel about players giving themselves things they didn't pick the options for in-cyoa?

Example; not picking fortified walls in a castle cyoa and saying you'll make it your first priority to build fortified walls, OR not picking the magic library but stating you're going to shop for magic tomes anyway.
>>
>>52668048
Thats basically what drawbacks are in normal CYOAs.
>>
>>52671781
No, drawbacks are free points.
>>
>>52671779
If it makes sense that they could build walls, or whatever option it may be, sure. I mean, it's not like it's impossible to build fortified walls if you don't pick it, is it? It really depends on the choice.
>>
>>52671775
As long as it runs fine, I don't care which CS it is. My connection is decent on this computer, and even if it does take an hour, I'm not in that much of a rush; I'll spend an hour here, rather than going out and sitting for an hour somewhere else. Dropboxing would work well.
>>
>>52671779
I think it depends on how it's done for me. If people off-handedly just say 'I'll get magic some other way' or something similar, then I'd consider it cheating. If they put some thought into working out how to actually do it, or it's something that realistically should be doable like fortified walls, then it seems fair enough. Extra sympathy if the CYOA is excessively stingy with points.

That said I don't really care either way, since ultimately it doesn't affect me at all.
>>
>>52671779
>How do you feel about players giving themselves things they didn't pick the options for in-cyoa?
It shouldn't be possible. You fucked up if it is. It's bad but you as the author should make it impossible.

I am a regenerating immortal physical beast of a hunter that can trade blows with titans, my companion is an ancient dragon, and I have the strongest person in the world (the mega yandere) by my side. Also, my power cannot be sensed by others thanks to my assassin perks.

I choose to give the middle finger to my "responsibilities". If the government turns on me, then I will revolt against the government. Between me, my companion, and my mega-yandere girlfriend I think we have enough power to defeat the lot of them.

If you take regeneration and endurance 3, and you manage to get really deep underwater and drown, do you revive instantly and start drowning again?
>>
>>52671779
It depends on if it's justified. If they just include, very specifically, "self-repairing walls" without paying the points, yeah that's fucked up.

But if they write a little bit about how they'll put their workers on creating the walls and have a team of dedicated mages putting together an enchantment to make them self-repairing, "oh by the way this could take months", then I'm fine with it.

That's actually the reason I chose to spend points on a magical power, despite having a bunch of mages in an unograded college with an expansive library. Logically, I could utilize those resources over time to learn magic or other tricks. But it seemed like a cheap out, so I didn't do it.

You could also view the CYOA as a "starting point". All the points you spend on a build encompass your characters resources at the beggining of the adventure and do not necessarily preclude the ability or circumstance to acquire more. I believe Traveller works that way, as it's set up so your points are essentially for a requisition order when you're first inducted. I would not consider this approach possible in Battlemage, which has a very clear Quest and progression system. Although, with Battlemage, I like to imagine the spells and companions are learned/met on the battlefield, as opposed to allotted afterwards. Makes more sense to me that you develop your powers through adversity than someone giving you shiny green things after you did your job
>>
>>52671925
You did it. You won.

I'm surprised more people don't realize that one legend and the most powerful being on the planet would be able to pull that considering that the divided nature f civilization and that there are only enough legends to have one per massive city. As the earlier Assassin who preferred to go into hiding, the thought did occur to me. Mine traded pure power for versatility, but still packs enough of a punch and has enough tricks to conceivably pull it off given how overpowered the yandere is.

Ultimately I decided against it because I thought it just wouldn't be as fun being an edgy dark lord embroiled in what promises to be a very long war (assuming that other Legends have taken regeneration 3 too). Going into hiding and using Stealth 3 to live a normal life amongst humans whenever you want is all of the waifu and freedom with a lot less grimdark and hassle.

I'm the author of that one.

I went to do another one (I'm a huge lovecraft fan, and noticed that the same can be said for most of /tg/), but it was shortly after Fleshweavers, and ended up being waaaay to similar.

Plus, Windows 10 updated midway though, and I forgot to save.

Lack of inspiration. I am an artist (as autistic as that sounds) to the core. Fickle as hell. If nothing catches my attention, or I think an idea sounds too stupid, I'm liable to completely give up.

There was an idea I was working on for a bit, (see pic related) that would've been like that secret world one with a bit of that one where you pick a God to worship, where you pick an organization and stuff, but with a magic/equipment system and a number of companions. I ended up giving that one up before I even finished all the faction logos. I'm no graphic designer.

It's the reason I haven't written in about 2 months.

But you don't ignore the points because that would defeat the point of minmaxing.
The whole thing is like a meta game between author and players, where the author is trying to create balance and the player is trying to find imbalance.
Or at least it was before the cancer that is wish fulfilment moved in and made itself at home.
>>
>>52672064
True, there's no way they would would be stopped.

>>52672096
Think about what would be required to stop the pair of rogue legends.

The government would need a combat specced legend of their own to equal the rogue legend they are trying to apprehend. They'd need at least two more legends to equal the legendary mega-yandere because she's a fucking cheater. They'd need one or two greater hunters to equal the ancient dragon.

Altogether, they'd need 3-4 legends and 1-2 greater hunters just to be on par with the rogues. They'd need even more to have the advantage.

The government is likely terrified of legends, because they might decide to just take over one day. That's likely one of the reasons why the government keeps one legend per big city. They don't want them to get together and talk with each other. The sheer size of the group of legends that would be required to hunt the rogues down would probably terrify the government more than the rogue legends themselves.

Not to mention, with a maximum of one legend per big city, they would need to pull their defenses away from several big cities just to create the squad that is necessary to bring the rogues down, which would leave those cities vulnerable to titans for an extended period of time as finding two rogue legends with stealth skills would be difficult.

There's also the chance that if their hunter squad fails, the pissed off rogue legends might return to take revenge.

Honestly, I think the government would back down from that one.

>>
>>52673392
I think the problem is that if they back down, they spread the message that they're the Legends' bitches. Which they totally are, but they're not going down without a fight.

My bet is that we get a Civil War between yandere, you and other anarchic legends, and the rest of the legends. You guys start off losing, and the world becomes a miserable place, but as the war makes things worse for everyone, opinion goes against the government and the Legends who were least associated with the war take over and let you guys go. You can also take over if you don't mind being hated.

Honestly I think the two other legend assassins who decided to go into hiding from this thread probably had the best solution.

Certain things are like that. It's a big reason I like D&D 3.5 way more than 5e. And if the CYOA author feels that way, that yeah, it makes sense to play it like that.

I really like the theme of those curses. One part I find a bit weird is the Forgers wisdom. It seems out of place in terms of power level, since it has to compete with something like getting an entire additional companion, rather than getting 3 more stats. Especially if you keep in mind that you gain 4 extra stats for each of the equipment pieces anyway.
>>
>>52673495
Yeah I bet the treads were better when players were trying to minnax the shit out of everything and think the author is working against the players. Because obviously the DM wants to do everything in his power to make a shitty game. Because obviously the players want to ruin the game the DM prepared.

Holy fuck. Fuck. I thought threads were bad now but I see the light.
>>
>>52673510
If people want to compare builds, they'd better have a damn good reason as to why they're the admiral of the entire Federation Navy fleet when the next person is a modest cargo hauler flying a tiny frigate.

I'd be cool with it if they both accept it as "oh cool I can do my hauling under the safe protection of your huge ass armada patroling the space" as opposed to "lol my dread can obliterate your hauler," but let's be honest, only a few people have that level of decency here.
>>
>>52673586
That's a fair point actually. People who go around trying to minmax to lord over less optimized builds are being assholes, definitely. I was kinda looking at the group of people who minmax as separate to the ones who minmax to be dicks, since I hope that the latter is only a small portion of the former.

At least, I have some minmax tendencies and I definitely think that your latter scenario is just being stupid.

>>
Not that the opinion of a newcomer CYOAutist matters, but what I try to do is provide a, hopefully, interesting setting that lets people immerse on it. If you wanna have 240 Cast or 150 Spd, do. If you wanna tame the Primal Dragon, do. Why'd I care? As long as you're following the basic rules and not pulling shit out of your ass, why'd I care? Just fucking enjoy yourself.
Minmaxing ain't gonna make me like you more, but I don't got no right to stop you.
>>
>>52673657
Fair enough. I can't help but wonder if it might be worth having some kind of 'teamwork' bonus system in CYOAs where that kind of competition and minmaxing would be possible to encourage friendlier interactions.

But I think that's asking a lot of authors, which is unfair since they aren't the problem.
>>
>>52673574
Players trying to obtain magic items aren't screwing over the DM and a DM creating appropiate encounters isn't creating a shitty game.
The nature of the game is that one proposes a challenge and the other does their best to succeed. Not that one hands out candy and the other passively accepts it.
You're abusing that poor metaphor to justify your own shitty attitude.

But if you boost Cruiser firepower and nerf Destroyer speed there's no reason to fly one, they're too slow and too underpowered to use.
>>
>>52669069
>20 for destroyers
So too slow? You have to realize that when you have a small ship, speed is everything you have. If Destroyers are underpowered speed wise and offensively (And your suggestion puts their speed extremely close to Cruisers), then they aren't good for anything.

A battleship should cost TWICE the amount of credits, weapons and mods included, compared to cruiser, and the same should be true for cruisers and destroyers. And they also should be about 1.8 as powerful in direct combat. Frigates should be able to tank with speed and attack where it hurts with strike weapons like torpedoes. Destroyers should be slower that frigates, but should be better offensively, and should honestly include more spinal mounts for direct damage, allowing to equip both strike weapons for anti-capital combat and assault weapons for battle against foes of their own size. Cruisers should be a staple of combat fleets and should be able to kill destroyers 1v1 in most cases, but should be weak to combined fleets. Battleships should be big-ass hard-ass ships for planetary defence/bombardment/mass fleet fights.

Most tasks in-universe should be doable on frigates, destroyers and cruisers. Frigates and destroyers should be a staple of civilian economy and private military. Only wealthy and powerful should afford cruisers at all, and even have any use for them (although the CYOA lacks the dedicated hauler ship class tbqh).

Players who want to roleplay like cool dudes they are should be limited to cruisers. Buying a standalone battleship should mean that you're in some military organization that pays for you, and is gonna use your ship in different missions.

Prove me wrong. You can't, because in your heart you know this should be true.

Dreadnoughts shouldn't be available to players at all. The appearance of dreadnoughts should mean that there's a fuckhueg fleet to support them, and someone is about to get raped in a strategic system. Instead of making dreadnoughts big battleships that you can't even properly equip (besides that one namefag autist who did), the CYOA should feature missions that would include dreadnoughts where players should be able to participate either in large-scale warfare or in reconnaissance/sabotage. "Owning" a dreadnought is something a person who watches shitty anime would think of. People who watch good anime like LoGH would never think of something silly like that.
>>
>>52674998
That one namefag autist who did, twice.

Don't forget that part.
>>
>>52674908
If Destroyers are slower than frigates and weaker than cruisers then they aren't any good. A battle isn't anywhere for a 'balanced' approach. Either you're fast enough to dodge or you're not, or you're powerful enough to blow a hole in their shield/armor or not. Trying to make a Destroyer the 'mediocre at everything' class means that they're good at nothing.
>>
>>52674908
Cruisers are ships that require thousands of crew and tons of escort ships to protect their slow asses. They're not good solo ships.
