Alright kids, it's time to give your fellow anon some advice. I've been tinkering around building lists, and I've come up with these 3 for 3k. Which of them would you most like to see on the table, both in terms of a cool looking army as well as something that would be fun to play against in a semi-competitive setting? not gonna list every single piece of wargear just for ease of typing.

iron father, termie, hammer
Orth
plasma vet squad
flamer vet squad
2 apothecaries
7 man gorgon squad
2x rhino tacticals
2x vindi squadrons, 2 vindis each
Mastodon

Night Lords Horror Cult
Jump Pack paragon Praetor
Jump pack Chappy

So what are some predictions if Armageddon is more or less a beta test of 8th edition rules ? Resurgence of heavy bolters and auto-cannons thanks to the -3 armor modifier ? I could see that putting a damper on Tactical mobs.

Or could FW decide to stick to 7th edition rule set ?
>>
>>52542063
I was saying that we should ignore them. Not fucking argue this shit again. My Titan princeps and several of my characters are female and I do not give a shit. To each his own.

Now, what about those chainaxes? At least that shitstorm is 30k related.

Chain Axes are totally balanced and should be free to melee space marine armies.

Fuck you.
>>
>>52542087
Blood Angels will be cancerous if it uses those rules.

I'd be fine with either 7th or Armageddon. Although I doubt 8th will be here for a while. They are still debating core rules.

>>
>>52542169
Betrayer has Lhorke, the old Legion master of the World Eaters, and now a Contemptor. There's also Telemechrus from Know No Fear.
>>
>>52542087
Shadow wars is litterally 2nd edition. GW might be trying to field test it but if they really wanted opinions on the 2nd edition ruleset and what its flaws and strong points were they could just have used google and read some forums.
And I mean, they didn't even fix the issues of 2nd edition in Shadow Wars, sooooo .... yeah.
>>
>>52542087
Flamers with -2 armor save seem like they could do some damage now.

Also, I'm curious about power axes. They're listed as two handed but don't have a listed save modifier so their save modifier is strength dependent. Meaning +3 strength on a marine is a -4 save modifier... without unwieldy. Brutal.

Not really, I for one actually like them because of their willing embrace of Chaos, which is a whole lot more interesting then some of the other legions, who were victim of circumstance.

Its IMO the best thing BL ever did, to trigger the entire heresy by a psychological phenomenon that is well known and fairly common even today.

>>
>>52542648
He has to move at -1, but the boops (I use Vorax) can move at +1 so long as everyone stays in coherency. So if you need an 8" charge, roll a 7, you'll still be in because the Vorax can make it (ignoring the fact Scoria might be closest, but you get the idea) but Scoria can only move 6", which may mean Vorax #2 may have to stand in between him and Vorax #1 until pile-in to retain unit coherency. If you can't get to B2B contact while keeping the unit in coherency, charge fails. Most often it just means Scoria will be a little back from the front line so he's not in base to base round 1 but can still hit, so not a big deal, but it can fuck you up a little in fringe circumstances.

There was a 40k Admech vs. Tau game on Winters SEO's channel that showed the principle well - he had a Ruststalker pair and a Dominus in a unit (+3 charge for the former), rolled a 2 for a 5" charge and couldn't arrange his unit to stay in coherency because the Dominus lacked the +3", so he still failed the charge.

However, most times you will be able to use the+1 Boop Charge move to make charges, yes.

With Horus Heresy being a sort of fictional historical wargame how much of a purist are you ?

[ ] proper marks for all equipment, armour and vehicles, be it old metal GW or current FW
[ ] you can replace some things with modern equipment to save money, for example GW Rhinos
[ ] as long as it's GW or FW it's ok
[ ] even 3rd party is fine as long as it looks like HH and it's clear what is what

The TS player I saw last week had POTL and spammed sniper veterans with divination and asphyx shells, besides quad mortars and some other things.

How does the economy work in 30k/40k. Who pays for this 10 thousand year constant state of war? We know there isn't infinite money otherwise guard would have power armour and bolters, so where does the money come from? Even if the imperium defeats all its enemies it's gonna have some serious post war economic issues, I think ultimately the biggest threat is the economy not chaos.

The Imperium doesn't care about paying, it just request the resources it needs to fight the wars. Evey planet has to pay a tithe in the resources it can provide, like food and water, manpower, raw materials, things like that. In return the planets can call on the various Imperial military organisations if things go south.
>>

During the Great Crusade the Imperial Tithe was already in effect and squeezing recently-conquered planets pretty hard. Planets are assigned a governor to run things and they have to do the best they can with that tax siphoning wealth (and soldiers) off-world. Though in exchange, there's a chance that the Imperial Army/Guard and Space Marines will save them if they get invaded. Should work the same as any other society with a very high military budget.

>>
>>52543416
There is hope. It does say that the armour and weapons the Sanguinary Guard use in 40k are tradition going back to the Great Crusade, and they are described with those weapons in Fear t Tread. So here's hoping they're just a good AP3 marine mulching unit. Maybe perdition blade for a sergeant equivalent.

>>52543035
No, you are the only one.
>>
>>52542961
Why all the extra armour? Is it really worth it?
>>
>>52543270
Same. I also think too many weapons had armor penetration modifiers - even lasguns were -1!

imo, +/- 0 modifiers to hit or to penetrate armor should be the norm, and only special(ish) weapons should get modifiers. Okay, maybe they do need to give the bolter a -1 against armor, but it's a big decision because it effectively makes marines 4+.

>>52543497
How I think they should do the armour penetrations system :

For most parts exactly the same as it is now, except that if the AP value of the weapon is only 1 point lower than the target's armoursave, the targets recieves a -1 save modifier. Meaning AP 4 knocks down power armour to a 4+ for example. It would make things like heavy bolters a bit more of a consideration.
>>
>>52543555
The system already presented is dependent on both AP (now save modifiers) and strength.
Power swords utterly ignoring power armour yet mauls being a 50/50 chance is better than the current all or nothing system, yeah, but still not enough.
I don't have the rules in my phone and my lap is making a system restore, but strength+save modifiers do make sense.

The Sanguinary Guard existed during the Heresy. They guarded their Primarch (hence the name)

Just need to do touchups on the gold, highlight the spears, do the gems and plumes, and figure out what I'm going to do with the blades and spikes (the spikes are vexing me)... which sounds like a lot more than it really is, when I list it all out.

Proto-Death guard, or some other badass berserker unit. Then again, they could make them some sort of terminator unit. Since every other legion has one and Space Hulk.
>>
>>52543729
The problem with save modifiers in a system using only D6 is that it is hard to keep armour meaningfull and not have only a very limited pool of weapons with a save modifier.

And most people would rather not resolve 20+ wounds on terminators with 2D6 for every single save.

- 10 Custodian Guard w/ Vexilla & Sentinel Warblade: 560 points

- 10 Custodian Guard w/ Vexilla & Sentinel Warblade: 560 points

- 5 Sentinel Guard: 310 points

HEAVY SUPPORT

Leaving me 10 points short of 2500, so I have some wiggle room to drop a guy and slap on melta bombs, or teleporters, or whatever on a squad.

Ok, so I'm working on some jetbikes. This is the first time I have ever utilized plasticard, I know it doesn't look great but I'm working on it. That said, while I still think the idea is solid, I'm not sure this is the right implementation. I don't know if I should a) extend the card all the way out b) keep it the same length but cut the fins off of the end prongs c) cut off the prongs up to where the end of the plasticard is currently

Right now I think it looks rather insectoid and I don't really want that.

I think it would be cool to see a NL as a founding GK because even though Curze was insane, he was clearly very prophetic, and several NL have the gift as well. I could see a NL as a GK founder, but Servetar would need a pretty major character shift.

I could see it being Servetar if he saw the other legions fall to chaos and he hated the side he chose. He didn't help make the GKs to serve the emperor, but to kill daemons.

You need more anti-tank by a mile, even Meltabombs on a few units plus the Captain is much needed.

Also break up the ten man squads into squads of 5 for more mobility and less bullet magnetization.

Maybe toss in some Adrastite and Pyrithite Spears for more anti-tank capabilities besides Meltas. If you're set on the twin Dreads that's the way to go.

We would have never had this problem if Games Workshop would just give writers free rein to create female Space Marines. What does it matter anyway, since its literally about 10,000 years before the current timeline and almost all the Space Marines die anyway?

Might as well write how a talented badass pilot manhandled all those dead Space Marines in her giant robot, or how an experienced battleship captain who doesn't have to deal with excessive testosterone affecting her brain ends up destroying Space Marine spaceships.

Sevatar makes a good choice in my opinion. He was already kind of relegated from his own legion in a way. He's dispassionate, extremely strong willed, intelligent, and is naturally psychic. Also, he's more or less Sigismund's equal in a fight... which no other astartes can claim. Combined with a trained and nurtured psychic talent, he could be the best astartes of all in a fight by quite a margin.

I think his being a founding member of the Grey Knights would be a cool twist and a well-fitting choice for the fluff.

I'm right here. That said, I play Blackshields; a mashup of equipment is essentially mandatory. HOWEVER, I make two exceptions, and both are replacing backpacks; I either use Mk4 backpacks with Mk3/Mk2 armor, or I use Anvil's Fusion packs. I just hate the look of the Mk3 backpack, it ruins otherwise good armor.
I'm working on 30 Marauders that all have unique mixes of Mk2-6 armor salvaged from the battlefield as well, so... There's that issue too.

Kharn never fought Sigismund to what amounted to a draw. He lost every fight with Sigismund. >>52546086
Yeah. The idea they presented is that if Kharn gave in 100% to his bloodlust he would beat Sigismund. The problem would be that Sigismund would be dead.
Kharn nerfs himself in every friendly duel he has except those with Siggy, because Siggy is just so fucking good that Kharn can let go up to like, 80, 90% and Sigismund can still fend him off and end the fight.

Then as mentioned, Sev took Sig to an effective draw. Sig beat everyone else.

>>

Conversions for some of my mechanicum because it's a slightly divergent forgeworld (Kiavahr stubbornly clings to some independance, and Corax helps them as long as XIXth gets access to the good toys)

as for what I enjoy fighting against, I really enjoy playing against lovingly converted stuff that is clear on what everything is and sticks to the appropriate sizes, but still has a unique spin to it. (stuff like magos crazyeyes or whoever was building the whale with an eye to size and clarity while still being biotech)

Another thought:

The great crusade should have lasted something like ~500 years. 200 is a little short for all the battles and legends and CONQUERING A NOT INSIGNIFICANT CHUNK OF THE GALAXY.

>>
>>52546444

I'd been thinking the Emp's Champion was a punishment, as in "go be his champ because you sure as hell ain't mine" and a sort of suicide mission that neither was hoping Siggy would return from.

That's if they go through with no forgiveness bit. Or they could do both and Dorn could forgive him after seeing all the stuff with Emps and losing Sanguinius too.

I just hope they reconcile. Currently it's a good narrative thread, but if they don't end well with each other it will be quite disappointing.
>>
>>52546555
Arrogance is kind of an EC thing.
Also, he was an up-and-coming line officer when the series kicked off. The idea is that he *is* good, he *knows* he's good, he just hasn't had all the opportunity to prove it because he's a newish guy to the scene...and his arrogance means he loses some fights.

The last time we saw him he was off on a quest to defeat all the legion champions, after all. Of course he immediately hit a brick wall when Ahriman stopped him killing Sanakht, and no doubt he'll be hanging with the Thousand Sons for a bit in Crimson King, so McNeil can write about someone he actually likes.

>>

The named characters in 40k either aren't worth taking at all or fucking annihilate the board. The arms race in 30k is much more balanced, but fielding multiple heroes is nevertheless an escalation of power.

I wonder, what army, going by just a standard FOC, could field the most special characters? Of the top of my head I'd say 5e IG.

>Creed and Kell in a company command squad
>Straken and Nork in another
>Margos as Elite
>Chenkov leading a platoon
>Al'Rahem leading another
>Harker leading a veteran squad
>Bastonne leading another
>Kamir leading a rough rider squad
>Pask leading a Russ squadron

11 named characters legally in one army.

Let's talk about the legion champions in an autistic manner, starting obviously with legion one
>DA
Formerly Alajos. Alajos was only ever beaten four times; once each by Astelan and Corswain in honour duels, the third time by Sevatar in an actual duel. The fourth defeat, which ended his career and life was also at the hands of Sevatar, who gave him the ol' Ferrus treatment.
Alajos once wielded an axe, which Leman Russ seized and used to duel with the Lion. The Space Wolves kept the axe afterwards, considering it a wyrd-weapon. It was given to the first SW aspirant born after the Heresy who made it to full wolf.
Alajos was replaced by Corswain, his second. Since taking the role Corswain has never technically been beaten, but like many of the named characters in serialized fiction, his fights end in draws. Corswain is particularly notable for losing his sword in Konrad Curze's back. Careless.
He was last seen commanding one half of the Lion's forces, hunting down the Death Guard fleet under Calas Typhon. Another sword believed to have belonged to Corswain is now a relic blade of the modern Dark Angels.

I don't like the DA all that, but I really think we need more swordfights with them in it, they're fucking space knights.
>>
>>52547418

I like this idea. Carry on anon.
>>
>>52547418

Space Knights at their best fighting Space Bandits.
>>
>>52547418
To add to the Alajos information, he once tried to provoke Sigismund to duel him, but Sig was on guard duty and told him to fuck off.
A technical defeat for the Dark Angels, there.
>>
>>52546710
The Raven so special that even Alpharius acknowledged how great he is. Imagine being that much of a sue

>EC
Strangely (or perhaps not if you think about it) for a legion of duellists, the EC don't really seem to have a named champion, though it's implied it's a role both Eidolon and Lucius see themselves as, leading to the rancour between them. Both think they can take the other, though they've never actually duelled as far as I know.

Eidolon, despite being consistently portrayed as a massive fuck-up, defeated Qin Xa, considered by many to be the White Scars champion, in single combat. Of course, Eidolon was by that point no longer an ordinary space marine. Haxx.

Lucius hardly needs any introduction, but here goes anyway. Renowned in his own legion to be unbeatable, though considering the command structure of the EC, it seems unlikely he fought anyone higher ranked than him. He took his first known defeat after taking on all of the Mournival of the Luna Wolves, one after the other. The last of them, Garviel Loken, defeated Lucius by punching him in the face at the onset of the duel. His complaints of no-fairsies were ignored and this counts as Lucius first defeat.
Lucius' broken nose didn't set correctly, in his eyes marring his perfect features. This chink in his self-image actually ended up contributing in a small way to his eventual moral downfall. Thanks, Loken.

Lucius didn't actually duel much after things went to shit, as it was so obvious he could beat everyone that he had no interest in going through the motions. Eventually he met Nykona Sharrowkyn of the Raven Guard and fell in love.
Lucius made the mistake of fucking around in their second duel (the first was inconclusive) and ended up getting his hearts broken.

After being returned to life...somehow...Lucius decided to go and kill all the Legion champions to make himself feel better. Like any bully, he decided to pick on the nerds first, and defeated Sanakht of the Thousand Sons in a no-fireballs fight. He didn't get to kill him however, as Ahriman intervened to stop the death-blow.

Kinda ironic that Space Teutons got archer-caverly special wargear (molecular acid shells) and Space Mongols got melee caverly special wargear (power glaive)

They had to duel the following day because the DA and IF had some kind of dispute that needed to be cleared.

The bitterboys don't seem to have really had a named champion, presumably because they don't believe in bringing knives to a gunfight.

It is worth noting, however, that Warsmith Kroeger was elevated to his ranking position from a line pleb after Pertuarbo noticed he was a superior close-range bloody brawler, and figured he might like one of those on his command staff. Kroeger almost immediately becomes tempted by Khorne and ultimately goes down that path during the Long War, so maybe you could say it was him? I mean, who else is gonna step forward if Pertuarbo wants one of his boys to smack a bitch up?
He was last seen with the others of the Trident aboard the Iron Blood.

If anyone actually knows who the Iron Warriors champion is, that would be neato.

>WS
The White Scars have had two known champions, Jubal Khan and Qin Xa.
Qin Xa, similar to Lucius, was thought of as unbeatable inside his legion. The Master of the Keshig (First Captain equivalent), he was one of Jagahatai Khan's oldest friends and a really chill guy.
Xa is kind of unusual in that he's one of those amazing fighters who uses Terminator armour sometimes, especially odd in the WS. I guess even meme about First Captains in Termie armour caught up with even the ordu of Jaghatai.
He bought it while fighting Eidolon during the White Scars' retreat to Terra, while cosplaying as the Khan. True to Eidolon's nature as a moron, he didn't notice the bad costume for ages.

Xa was replaced by Jubal Khan, the lord of summer lighting. Jubal refused to be Master of the Keshig, instead taking the title Master of the Hunt. This title still exists in the White Scars today.
Jubal is interesting in that he dueled Sigismund earlier in the narrative, before the Heresy. Though the duel wasn't a walk in the park for Sigismund, Jubal realised during it that he would not beat the Imperial Fist (nor make him laugh) and ceded victory. Jubal was away from the main WS fleet for much of later events and only came back in time for the Heresy to really kick off for the White Scars, so remains a bit of an unknown quantity. Which is fitting.

If there's no scene where Jubal makes Sigismund laugh during the Siege, I will be sad.

Youre thinking of Amit and Kharn. Amit beats Kharn (not a close fight, theyre both sprawled out on the ground and Amit is the first one to get up) and Kharn begs him for death but Amit refuses for a reason I cant remember.
>>
Ok, so I have a bunch of upgrade kits for my night lords. In total, I have 2 full terror squad kits (heads, torsos, shoulders) and 2 if the old silly bat helmet sets, which is 40 shoulders in all. >>52547962
>not a close fight
I meant a very close fight
>>
>>52547962
Why did Kharn want death?
>>
>>52548008
Khârn continues to batter me as we fall. He lands atop me, pinning my torso beneath his hips. I cover my face with my arms in a desperate guard. He bludgeons them with fists and elbows in a frenzied attempt to get at my skull. He lands a blow with every beat of my hearts. I roar in frustration, swallowing my every instinct, all of them demanding that I hit back. If I move my arms now, I am dead. He will smash my skull open upon the rock as surely as the suns will bake my blood dry.
I wait while Khârn strikes again and again.
His rage is not coordinated. Left does not follow right in an economy of motion. Right follows right follows right. The gap between strikes lengthens as the favoured limb tires.
Khârn attacks. I wait.
Another blow. More pain. I wait.
A slew of incoherent curses tears from Khârn’s throat. He strikes again. I wait.
He strikes.
I counter.
I hook my left arm over his right and pin it against his body, as I throw my weight up. We roll. This time, I’m on top of him. Khârn hasn’t registered the reversal I have a moment’s clear shot.
I hit him. The blow dents his cheek, breaks my fist, and leaves blood pooling under his skull on the rock. I drop my weight behind an elbow and collapse onto his face. Bone breaks. I ignore the pain in my ribs as he lands a series of wild punches, and grab his head with both hands. I growl, smashing it into the ground.
Khârn lies still. I slump away from him.
I hear the roar of my blood rolling and crashing like a distant wave. It begs me to rise. I cannot.
The words fall from my lips. ‘A draw.’
Cruel laughter rumbles in Khârn’s throat. ‘There can be… no such outcome. Our fight is… not over…’
‘It is for today.’
‘Finish it.’
I ignore him, and close my eyes. I see only Khârn, and the World Eater wears my face.

From the same book, the point of view of Azkaellon fighting Lucius

>I remove my helm and feel the rain on my skin. Within a moment my hair is soaked through, slicked to my scalp by the downpour.
‘Where are the rest of your warriors, Azkaellon?’ My opponent gestures to the five Sanguinary Guard that have accompanied me here. Lucius, the greatest blademaster of the III Legion. His features are noble, patrician. Even blasted by the storm, his hair lashing in the wind, he looks as though he had been born to stand there.
Yet any beauty he possesses is ruined by the sneer that stains his face.
‘I am in no need of an audience as grand as yours,’ I reply, indicating the thousand legionaries of the Emperor’s Children stood in serried rank at Lucius’s side of the platform.

Ends with Azkaellon realizing he cannot beat Lucius so instead he lunges at Lucius and knocks him off the dueling platform into the ocean below, losing the duel, but humiliating Lucius in front of his audience.

I see through you, Lucius.’ His face hardens at my words. A ripple of anger ruins the corners of his eyes. ‘Your nonchalance is nothing more than a blade wrapped in silk. You remind me of my brother, Amit. His aggression runs as deep as yours. Though he at least has the courage to embrace it.’
‘The Flesh Tearer?’ Lucius barks. ‘I am nothing like him!’
I ignore Lucius’s protestation. Courage. It surprises me to have given voice to such a thing where Amit’s temper is concerned. Yet my brother would not have suffered this dance. It is my turn to smile as I imagine him fighting this duel, bludgeoning Lucius’s face. I can almost hear the crack of his skull as Amit’s armoured gauntlet batters it. The hammerblows ring out in my mind until my hearts quicken in echo…

>SW
The Wolves also don't seem to go in for an actual named champion, likely as their pack and top dog mentality don't seem suited to it. Added to this, the whole Russ / Lion duel started the tradition where members of those legions must duel when their forces meet. While the DA send their unit champion, the SW almost always seem to send their unit commander as their man in the ring. Again, top dog mentality. The leader is expected to be the best fighter, and vice versa.

Gunnar Gunnhilt, the Lord Gunn, was their First Captain, and so presumably their best fighter, at least for a time. He died sacrficing himself at Alaxxes so the Rout could escape, his loss considered a bitter blow for the doggies.

However, we really have to mention Bjorn here. While never shown to be a duelist, his elevation from line pleb to the personal confidante of the Russ, being brought along to meetings where he really shouldn't be, and ultimately effectively named Russ' successor, would indicate that we should probably think of ol' grumpy as the SW champion in another way; he best represents what Russ thinks of as the ideal SW values. Bjorn is the soul of the Space Wolves, and so is their champion in more ways than just being good with a blade.
Not that he's a bad fighter. After losing his pack, Bjorn goes lone wolf for a while and becomes a bit of a daemon killer. He even continues the examples of his pappy in another way and duels Magnus the motherfucking Red. While being a dreadnought. Though he was given a plasma cannon for this fight as apparently rending assault cannons had been lost to time even by M32.
Bjorn is also notable for hitting on chicks even while a corpse in a robot suit, being so legendary Grey Knights kneel in his presence, and having the intelligence not to tell the modern Space Wolves that they're a fucking joke.
Rumours that he wants to get gifted to the Blood Ravens are not true dammit.

Not just a Legion champion, but *the* Legion Champion. The Black Knight 31,000, Sigismund.

Officially undefeated (at least as far as we care in HH), Sigismund took on all comers and sent them home crying. Already we've seen itt that he defeated Alajos, Lucius, and Jubal Khan, and those hits to other legions will keep coming. Name a renowned fighter from another legion and if Sigismund fought him, he beat him...apart from Sevatar, but that's considered a draw (Sev disqualified himself).

There being no-one in the Fists who could stand against the Living Wall, he regularly took vacations to the dueling pits of the World Eaters to find some half-decent opposition, but where he still beat literally everyone. There, he picked up the habit of chaining his weapon to his arm from his main bro Kharn, which would end up being a ritual in the Black Templars still practiced today.

Sigismund's status was when he got made Emperor's Champion and spent the Siege murdering every motherfucker who got in his way. While the numbers of plebs he killed are uncountable, he's reckoned to have defeated two dozen legion champions in combat during the battle. It's notable that he was actively looking for Abaddon during this time, but was never able to find him. Either he got unlucky or Ezekyle knew his ass would be grass and spent the campaign hiding. That's right, the future ooga-booga of the whole setting ran and hid from like a little bitch.

That tale has a presumably sad ending however, as Sigismund and Abaddon would eventually meet a thousand years later, and while we don't know what happens yet, Abaddon is still alive and no-one's seen Sig after it. Of course by this time Sigismund would have been at least 1200 years old, and Abaddon only chose to fight him after getting powered up in the warp and probably getting his fucking daemon sword that's able to kill the Emperor. I guess if you wanted to fight Sig, you'd best get hold of a blade that could kill a god.

Drizzt, Wolverine, every fanfic character made by a 14 year old rolled into one, it's 'Don't call me Jago' Jago Sevatarion.

Sev's main claim to fame is that he dueled with Sigismund for TWENTY HOURS before getting bored and throwing the fight. I couldn't even sleep for that long much less fight a swordsman with a chainglaive. That chainglaive, by the way, has a teleport homer built into it, because even the best NL single-combat fighter likes stacking the deck.

Sig has the Dark Angel champion's head to his name, as well as other cringe bullshit like being the guy who came up with Death to the False Emperor. Sigismund inventing There is Only War shows who really won that battle.

Like Sig, apart from that draw, Sev has an undefeated record...where dueling is concerned. He ultimately lost to his own primarch, when, for some reason, he decided to go back up Curze when the Night Haunter launched a suicidal teleport attack on the DA flagship. Missing the teleport jump, Sev arrived to the party by surfing over on the back of a void fighter. Because of course he did. Despite being the second-best legion champion and fighting back to back with a Primarch, Sev ended up captured by the Dark Angels. Maybe he got bored again.

Abandoned in Dark Angel gaol, Sevatar was finally truly defeated by a little girl.

These guys are interesting, in that they legit have like 3 (or 4) effective legion champs.

Azkaellon is the Primarch's bodyguard and equerry rolled into one, like Alajos and Corswain for the DA. He's even kind of an organizer, like Forrix of the IW. Truly, Blood Angels are Renaissance Men. As shown earlier, Az took on Lucius and did a semi-Loken, losing the duel but making Lucius feel like a dickhead. Respect.
Az is so baller he drew on the Lion and engaged Curze, but found himself harmlessly defeated by the Night Haunter.

Amit is the opposite of Az, being a Kharn/Kroeger style brawler, with a bit of Sev in him as well. Starting out in the fiction as just the angry 5th Captain who foreshadowed the Flesh Tearers, he became a bit of a pet under big Andy Smilie and his status as a champion was established when Sang was considering who was his best son. Turns out the BA have a final level boss fight version of the Blood Games, at which Az and Amit always draw. Bored of the same result, Sang ordered them to go and git gud. This led to Amit fighting Kharn in the above romantic fiction. While Kharn habitually threw his duels in order to not murderize his opponent like an animal (including with Sig), Amit actually fought the Assault Captain to a legitimate draw by tanking him until the perfect moment. Respect.

The last champion is the Sanguinor. A member of Azkaellon's posse who gets Deathshrouded, this is a new development and we haven't seen him fight anyone yet. However, as Sanguinius' literal proxy, the Sanguinor has to be counted as a technical champion, and the future legacy of that role makes it clear that some shit is going to go down.

While we haven't really seen the BA do some wicked cool dueling shit, it's hard to believe they don't have it in them.

Another championless legion, as far as we know. I guess they think dueling is a waste of time?

Gabriel Santar was the First Captain and leader of their elite unit, and he got effortlessly BTFO by Julius Kaesoron, who was maaaybe the 3rd best Emperor's Children.

In the Bjorn-mold of champion, we should recognize Shadrak bloody Meduson, who is doing his best to keep the fires of the Iron Hands burning, by being a right bloody pain in the arse to the Sons of Horus. He organized a decapitation strike on the traitor leadership that came a ballhair away from taking out 3 primarchs, so while we've drifted completely away from single combat here, he's still worth mentioning.

Of course, it turned out Meduson was actually quite tasty in single combat because he was Alpharius.

So here's a thing. By several standards the World Eater champion could be said to be Delvarus.
Undefeated in the gladiator pits (by other WE), he once took on like 40 dudes in a row, who were doing a World Eater marine corps hazing equivalent, and put them all on their asses. Leader of the Triarii (the WE anti-boarding troops), he had a bad habit of leaving the ship he was supposed to be protecting because fuck waiting to be bloody boarded. Achieved fame itt by being the guy some woman shoots at. A woman. Must've been on the rag amirite?

Of course, we all know the real champion is Kharn. Unexpectedly revealed to be a clever, urbane man of good taste, who made friends easily and homoerotic relationships even easier, Kharn has a terrible record in his legion's duels and only has mad respect because he's literally the only the guy Angron listens to. Yeah. Guy. As in man. Like, Angron also listens to That Woman. What the fuck is that about hey my bros?

Kharn has an interesting foible where he basically chooses to lose most of his duels in the pits. Two reasons given: He doesn't take them seriously as they aren't real, and he's also aware that he already berserker rages out and is liable to kill his opponent if he actually fights properly. So, defeating Kharn in a duel is actually no sign of being good. Unless you're Sigismund or Amit, for earlier shown reasons. Loken manages to score a win on him, but by doing a Loken; Kharn is actually beaten by a Rhino's dozer blade.

The one time he took the pits seriously, Kharn defeated Erebus quicker than Erebus sunk that dagger into Argel Tal's back. Like, it was such a blow out it wasn't even embarrassing, it was just sad.

Kharn would achieve lasting immortality by reputedly being the first man over the walls of the Imperial Palace, and for killing so, so many people that Khorne wouldn't stand for him dying. This is the mortal representative of the god of killing we're now talking about here.
Heck of a guy.

I love the idea of Hoplites in Space
So to differentiate my paragon blade + shield companions from the other custards a bit my plan is to have them armed with shield and spear and cut off the bolters
If this is just retardation let me know

Probably the MOST LOYAL legion. Lion really hates Curze.
>>
>>52549466
I'll lean him forward a bit tomorow.

>>52549457
It is. I'd originally planned on spacing out the legs more, but everything got squashed up when i was sticking him on the base. I'll have to take another crack at it later.

May the blood god give you patience, give it some time and you'll probably be able to fix it

Btw, were the companions wearing black at this point or was that later? Because I remember seeing black custoses in inferno

Also Sev as a GK founder hints are all over the place. ADB says the first captain of the VIII brotherhood (NL are the VIII Legion ffs) is called Khyron which is a close aproximation to Chiroptera, which is the scientific name of fucking BATS. And also he uses a power glaive and this is written under his statue:

"Already, you exalt me for my triumphs,
When I ask only that you remember me for my treacheries.
Victory is nothing more than survival.
It carries no weight of honor or worth beyond what we ascribe to it.
If you wish to grow wise, learn why brothers betray brothers."

I mean, come on!

The three main BA guys should all get rules.

Raldoron should be a mediocre combat character but with amazing buffs, think a Ld10 Centurion with a power sword but provides army wide +1 LD and can pick a WL trait or something.

Azkaelon is a straight up challenge monster, WS7 or I6 with a master crafted Blade of Perdition, preferred enemy in a challenge or something.

Amit's only defining characteristic is a shit load of attacks, rage/rampage, furious charge, maybe some special rule called 'Flesh Tearer' where he gets an extra attack for every successful wound.

Aww, thanks. To be fair, I kind of cheat, since the Mechanicum has so much random shit hanging around I just have to vaguely match dimensions, and we have way less lore to restrict my ideas. I can't even remember one Genetor/Biologis character who actually did shit. Also at the scale the whale project is I can easily fudge some details since it's not like people will struggle to draw LoS to the 50cm giant floating whale.
May have to make do with a smaller model and do some big smoke plumes coming out of the tail engines to make up size, though, unless someone knows a way to make a cardboard model into something actually usable.

Also got kind of sidetracked by Shadow War: Armageddon so I'll be back to it once my magnetized Skitarii squad for that is done. Never played old Necromunda, but this is great fun.

Also, WOW the number of magnets you need inflates fast. 10 for a basic guy, 2 or 3 for each extra weapon option, one for each head and four for the Arquebus guy switching bases, and for every grenade or similar going on the belts.

Is this too much for 30k? I never know.
>>
>>52545343
Just before the thread dies:

- The Reaping gives every model Move Through Cover, so drop your dozer blades

- Mortarion believed a well-equipped Space Marine was the most dangerous weapon in the galaxy, drop a quad mortar and give the tactical blobs bolters and CCW

- You're really thin on anti tank. Majorly thin. You've got more than enough anti personnel fire in there, consider giving some guys something heavier than an autocannon and sticking the Siege Breaker with them for tank hunting, or giving one of your Vindicators an LDA
>>
>>52551235
Yeah the wings are too much, consider a regular jump pack.
>>
>>52551257

I wasn't even planning on using them as a jump pack for 30k but rather just decoration. However, totally a jump pack lord for 40k.
