Pathfinder General /pfg/

Why aren't you using Spheres of Power's appendix and Permanent Undead to make non-evil skeletons and zombies, and then Summon Spirit to call a soul from the afterlife and let it inhabit the skeleton/zombie? All non-evil, all totally free, and all at CL 5!

Unified /pfg/ link repository: http://pastebin.com/hAfKSnWW

Newest DSP Playtest: Highlord: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i2wrIBB_sibYLbUHh_Dbh5Y0guEQgnYbFwjKnvS375w/edit#

Cuse Spheres of Power still feels kind of unbalanced
I mean come on, you get to both heal and raise the dead at level 1.

So what it comes down to is this:
Is the GM ever allowed to say no to a play or is the GM taking a stance on literally anything mean HE'S the entitled one?

Obviously fuck no it doesn't.

When's the last time you played an "evil" character who wasn't a complete and utter monster? Somebody who wasn't a monster- but was just a douchebag. Chad Thundercocks, Falafels, people who give children knives to play with, those all count
>>
>>52532974
Well, I played a benevolent tyrant once, who is still LE.
>>
>>52532974
I played once a card-carrying villain, LE Fiendbound Marauder Warder that the party had to tolerate because he was basically offering them their aid with their rebellion just for his share of the loot and was rather efficient.

Passtimes involved defiling temples of good deities with symbols of Asmodeus, using panic at a potential apocalypse to gain further converts, and killing/souldraining homeless men for healing in the middle of a siege (party had no healing).
>>
>>52532974
I played a CE human bard who was a womanizer that didn't tell them he got a case of the deep ones.
>>
>>52532974

The last evil character I played was a con artist; friendly guy, but he'd trick widows into their life savings or steal the priceless heirloom of a demented old man.

>>
>>52532974
Well my current evil character I play is a drow. Definitely the party bitch to the other PC's in the party (who are also evil) but not a complete monster.

I'd classify her as an ice princess. The pretentiousness and bitchiness my character was displaying got to a certain point that the other PC's got together and crafted a magical slave collar to shut her the fuck up, and disguised it as a periapt of health.

I reaped what I sowed x.x

When's the last time you played an evil character who wasn't a complete and utter wimp? Somebody who, while potentially not a monster or grimdark, was a genuine threat with a focus and a goal, ready to put these edgy fags in their place by showing how real villainy gets done.

Shezare Umboros, a Vishkanya spheres negotiator bard!

>Dragon-ish Princess in line with the throne
>but because she's got dark hair, no throne for you
>instead, her bratty youngest sister gets the throne
>which is great, she loves being a master manipulator instead of being the obvious boss and your darling sisters are great to make into powerhouses and you love them anyway
>wait, what do you mean dad had mom assassinated and intends to put her on the throne? And she's got to have her other sisters killed off?
>screw that, let's go bugger off into the Ways

I don't really like multi-apps! They really tend to throw party balance into disarray, and makes cliques inside a group, and if the quality of the apps are different the GM has to make tough choices!

Having said that, at least the quality is fortunately pretty solid from app to app, so that just leaves the other two problems.

Shezare seems to be the de facto leader of the FEARED LEGENDARY TRIPLE APP because her youngest sister is a brat and dumb and the middle sister is a person who thinks with her sword. This is going to be interesting to see how one can be a smoothtalking manipulator behind the scenes when you actually have to be the one to talk. Mechanically speaking, Shezare is going to have to put herself in the front line to do the speaking, so it isn't going to be quite the behind-the-scenes action in her personality.

Like her sister apps, Shezare's well put together. I don't think it quite fits the setting of small shard communities and putting in a noble's app at level 1 is something that raises an eyebrow. Still, none of the three have actually achieved anything of note, so it's probably just rubbing me the wrong way.

>Appeal 3/5 Manipulator that's got baggage of a bratty murderous loli and Ms sword. Might work better in a lewd game, but it doesn't seem right for Shardwalkers; "Some hold lofty goals to map out the Shardlands that man might get back on his feet and fight off the Dark, others care only for the coin their services can demand, and many just wish to escape the burdens of their old life and the responsibilities that come with it." The way it's been made seems to be much more drifters-like, and it seems that there's not enough wanderlust or need to go from place to place for these three. They can settle down and just build a powerbase if they want to get their home back.
>Backstory 3/5 It's well written and makes sense, but the scope of the shard being an entire kingdom is just.. well, doesn't seem to fit, as said. Being "stuck on a tiny rock in the night sky" is a lot different from "there's an entire kingdom with royalty and everything".
>Compatibility 2/5 T-T-TRIPLE APP is going to throw any sort of party balance out the window. Neutral/evil group is going to be able to bully their way into whatever they want, so it's just... less than ideal.

Next up, Brynhildr d'Ivrea.

So I'm working on a conversion of magic of Incarnum to Akashic mysteries rules. The first project is gonna be the classes: the Soulborn, Totemist, and Incarnate. Here's the rough outline of what each class will do when Pathfinderized. Any thoughts on this? Just leave a reply

>Soulborn
Now uses Daevic Veilweaving, drops Smite Opposition, Incarnum defense, and Share Incarnum Defense in favor of more customizability in "Convictions". The Soulborn must be any combination of Lawful/Chaotic and Good/Evil, no neutral allowed. Each alignment has two convictions associated with it, each with a list of thematic abilities like Revelations, which grants the Soulborn a thematic ability. He picks one from each component of his alignment (LG Soulborns pick one from Lawful and one from Good) and that determines his abilities. There's also a number of "Neutral" Convictions that are available to all Soulborn.

>Incarnate
Uses the Vizier's Veilweaving. Once again, customizability based on alignment- your alignment sets your abilities. Good protects their allies and buffs, Law has self-defense and battlefield control, Evil lands debuffs and damage, and Chaos has... Something thematic I guess

>Totemist
Not sure where to put this one. It uses the Guru's Veilweaving, of course. Maybe fold the Totem Rager PrC from 3.5e into it- you have a totem that defines your animal themed abilities, powers like rage powers, and the ability to enter an "Incarnum Rage" that boosts your akashic binding stuff. Maybe pull back the natural attack theme and make it the more utility-focused class.

Brynhildr d'Ivrea.

>Noble born
>dad's a dick, wants her to sit in the kitchen and do kitchen stuff
>she is smart and queries the philosophy about what old people said about the Dark, wonders about the world so decides to go off into the
>level 1 character start GO

First off, I am 100% sure that when porting 3.5 material to pathfinder, you shouldn't actually get 4 times the number of skillpoints at first level while also getting 3 points to trained skills. Player definitely needs to clarify with the GM if they get 8+int points at level start or (8+int) X 4. SERIOUSLY CHECK THIS.

Having said that, the app itself is a fun little thing. There's reason for her to be on adventure, she's a bit pompous because she's sharp as a pin, and she's got good potential.

>Appeal 4/5 smart girl who could be taken down a peg or two, or keep being a bossy know-it-all
>Backstory 4/5 Simple, adds some folks that could be used as a backstory or forgotten, gives a reason for journeying.
Compatibility 4/5 Initiator/mid-caster. Knowledge bank. Pretty handy all round.

I'd find a place with a full university a bit odd, but it's not entirely out there. Nothing much I'd change for this app.

>>52533320
I base the numbers on how likely it's going to look to the GM. All three really are well written apps, but that kind of story is needs a whole campaign based round it, not a game that looks like it's going to focus on episodic folks with wanderlust that Shardwalkers looks like.

It'd be fine if it were for a level 6 or even level 4 app, but at level 1? Nope, nope nope nope. There's no reason for her to adventure. There's no reason for her not to build an army up and try to get back her place that she knows has been stolen from her. It just doesn't fit the campaign. There are questions that probably need answers, but I'm not going to be the one to demand them.
>Appeal 2/5 A literal comic book hero who's somehow quiet but wears a cape.
>Backstory 2/5 The kindest thing I can say is that it makes chronological sense, and there's a vague reason for going out into the wild, but again, a caped defender could just as easily stay in one shard to fight injustice without ever having to wander.
>compatibility 2/5 He's capable of hitting people with +4 to hit and 1d6 damage, and that's about it. Sheet is incomplete. Best I can say is he's not going to actually actively mess up the party.

Picture unrelated because I can't even stand that. If I was to rewrite the app, I'd give a reason for the old man to teach him to stand up for justice, give him a cause to journey, and give him a defining event. But frankly it just looks terrible.

> It's a lot more balanced than traditional magic, and all of the "This spell changes how your world works." type effects are in their own section where it's explicitly stated that you need special permission to take them. Martials don't feel utterly useless in a mid- to high-level group with spherecasters.
> It lets you build a spellcaster that much more closely mimics fantasy spellcasters you see in media, like books and movies.
> If you want a more traditional "book" mage, they have options for spellbooks, spell creation, and even rituals.
> Casters have useful at-will abilities that prevent five-minute workdays, and their resources are a lot easier to fit into the world thematically... what the fuck even are spell slots anyway?
>It has amazing versatility, allowing you to build almost any type of caster you want by mixing and matching spheres, talents, and drawbacks.

There's a decent range in between "four score and 7 years ago..... and then finally <character name here> was born!" and "after leading wars from the front for fifteen years and individually personally slaying dragon after golem after mecha-godzilla again, she finally returned home to find her kingdom inexplicably missing, her armies scattered and the pet tarrasque she had tamed in her childhood kidnapped for ransom, and then she reached level 1".

I've made a couple of races. For example, my Half-Giant race.

Standard Racial Traits

Ability Score Racial Traits: Specialized +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, and -2 Intelligence. (1 RP)
Size: Half-giants are Large creatures. (7 RP)
Type: Half-giants are Humanoid creatures with both the human and giant subtypes. (0 RP)
Base Speed: Half-giants have a base speed of 30 feet. (0 RP)
Languages: Half-giants begin play speaking Common and Giant. Half-giants with high Intelligence scores can choose from the following: Aklo, Draconic, Dwarven, Goblin, Orc, and Terran. (0 RP)

Ability Score Racial Traits:
-Advanced Strength (+2) (4 RP)

Defense Racial Traits:

-Natural Armor: Half-giants have thick skin, granting them a +1 natural armor bonus. (2 RP)
-Improved Natural Armor: (+2) (2 RP)
-Rock Catching: Members of this race can catch Small, Medium, or Large rocks (or projectiles of similar shape). Once per round, a member of this race that would normally be hit by a rock can make a Reflex saving throw to catch it as a free action. The DC is 15 for a Small rock, 20 for a Medium rock, and 25 for a Large rock (if the projectile provides a magical bonus on attack rolls, the DC increases by that amount). The member of this race must be aware of the attack in order to make a rock catching attempt. (2 RP)

Feat and Skill Racial Traits

-Survivor: Half-giants gain a +2 racial bonus to Survival checks. This Increases to a +4 in Mountainous environments. (3 RP)
-Intimidating Build: Half-giants receive a +2 racial bonus on Intimidate checks due to their size. (2 RP)

Offense Racial Traits

-Reach: Members of this race have a reach of 10 feet. (1 RP)
-Rock Throwing (As core) (3 RP)

Senses Racial Traits

Low-Light Vision:: Half-giants can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light. See Vision and Light. (1 RP)

As an example of what this can do, consider a lowly, CR 2 ovinnik, a fey cat:

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/fey/house-spirit/ovinnik/

An ovinnik is already a house spirit accustomed to accepting offerings:
>A wise farmer placates resident ovinniks with frequent gifts of warm milk, pancakes, or dead roosters.

Now, give the ovinnik a luxurious home all for itself, in exchange for blessing any townsfolk or cityfolk who come asking it for a blessing.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/fey/house-spirit/ovinnik/
>Luck Touch (Su)
>With a claw attack or touch attack, an ovinnik can alter a creature’s luck. If the target fails a DC 14 Will save, it either gains a +4 bonus or takes a –4 penalty (the ovinnik’s choice) on its next three d20 rolls. The target can choose to automatically fail the saving throw, but must choose before it knows whether the touch will be beneficial or harmful. The save DC is Charisma-based.

Given that this ability is at-will, the town or city now has a reliable source of blessings for many of its endeavors.

Pathfinder's kami are no more suited to the concept described above as Pathfinder's other outsiders and fey.

A CR 2 shikigami kami certainly is not going to be as much of an asset to a town or a city as a CR 2 ovinnik, for example.

Now what if I DID re-use some character elements? Name, art, birthplace, major events. Not reusing all of those at the same time, but using a fair amount.
>>
>>52536749
I feel that's going too far.
Personally I think the most one should recycle is the build. But the history and personality, those should be written more appropriate to the new setting.

I find it quite noticeable when someone's just reworded a few words (like changing the village names)

>>
>>52536832
Quite a bit. They might have rumors about them in the country they're from, or be well known in the city they live in.

Level 7-10 is when people start leading organizations, so a level 6 would be pretty close to that.

High ranking Hellknight officers/leaders are anywhere from 6-9. The actual leaders of each Order are around 10.
>>
>>52536935

Time Freeze Talent. Fucking read.

And the reason there isn't a lot of time stuff is because it's hard making time themed abilities not broken as fuck both in combat and narratively.
>>
>>52536937
>why can't I break action economy completely?
Makes me ponder.
>>
>>52536937
Time element for kineticist in Jolly's Porphyra book. One of the high level talent is at will time stop. You can only get it as early as level 16 though.
>>
>>52536672
It's fine, some autists here might screech about people refluffing their Molthune Knights submissions for BitF and the like, but who the fuck are they to decide what's right and wrong?
>>
>>52537000
Time Freeze is a fart that dazes in an aoe, except it's a bad daze. Also, the handbook is full of stuff that completely shitter-shatter both the combat and the narrative while somehow managing to be totally bland.

>>52537047
I'm not looking to have 5 standard actions per turn, I'm looking for actual flavorful time magic instead of changing a thing's speed or some bland buff that should be in the enhancement sphere. Give me something like that "lmao you can clone yourself now" talent from the handbook, but instead of literally doubling your fucking action economy it lets you take 1-2 extra turns once per week.

>>52537052

So what's the deal with Mivoni swordlords? Do they also share the name Aldori, or is Mivoni or something else? How dumb would it be to have a Mivoni born decide that "swords are dumb and gay, I like polearms" and want to start their own school for lances and shit. A lancelord if you will.
>>
>>52537091
Speaking of BitF, I'm surprised nobody's memed the applicants yet. It seems to happen to every /pfg/ game.
>>
Do the characters know their own levels and stats? Like does my kitsune look at herself and think "My chest is only this big because I have 11 in Cha."

Does my warlord look at his nodachi and think "Only two more level ups until I can dual wield nodachis. Arigato Obama-sama."
>>
>>52536977
So there we have it, A character that got into a high profile-game was a reused app from another high profile game

If this isn't proof that reusing apps is just fine, I don't know what the fuck is.
>>
>>52537116
>So what's the deal with Mivoni swordlords?

They're cheap imitations of Aldori Swordlords, knock-offs if you will. Every Mivonese Swordlord claims they're not like the others, retaining the purity of the Restov branch, but we all know it's hogwash.

>>
>>52536977
Even if we know about Wugu as a person, we won't necessarily know what his visions are for this particular campaign.

If you want a general advice, though, read through the other apps and think about what they are not doing and how to make your app stand out from theirs. A character that's just a greedy guy - even with a justifiable backstory - will probably get lost in a sea of greedy guys, but give your character something that no one else has, and you now have something that stands out to the DM amongst a sea of other apps.

A good GM will read your character and think "is there anything interesting that this person will add to the story?" Give that to them; don't just focus on single-gimmick jokes or memes, and you might have a better chance of getting in.

Then again, blingmaker might just be as silly in tone as HR that jokey characters are the best way to go, so take caution before accepting that advice.
>>
>>52537271
Because half the characters were just meme jokes at first, and then the 2hu controversy overshadowed anything else.

To be fair the Light handbook really fixed that up. It's a solid utility/battlefield control sphere now. Like, very solid, actually.

It's a shame the other handbooks can't be as well-written as Destruction and Light were.
I just checked out the Time handbook after reading that post and it really IS bland. You totally could rename and slightly refluff almost all the stuff it adds and just slot them into Enhancement or Fate or Life, etc. etc.
And then it has total bullshit like a talent that doubles your action economy, literal time travel at like level 5, etc.
What a shame.

Kami is just a Shintoistic concept for a natural spirit, often bound to an object or a location. If you're making a Shinto shrine then any spirit you bind to the shrine is the kami of the shrine, even if it's not an creature type Outsider (kami).

Crux-15 (Fighter 5/HK 10)-Graveknight, so effectively 2 levels higher
Scourge-16 (Rogue 2/Fighter 4/HK 10)
About half on 10-12, the other half on 13-16, although, interestingly, most of the strongest Lictors come from minor orders.

>>52537701

Here is the official stance on this, courtesy of Adam Meyers:
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/44264665/#44268357

The damage potential of the Destruction sphere is heavily GM-dependent, because it relies on:

1. Whether or not the GM allows the Sacred Blast advanced talent for Destruction.

2. Whether or not the GM allows a sorcerer focus sphere to stack with an incanter sphere specialization.

3. Whether or not the GM allows custom blast talents using the point-buy creation in the Destruction handbook.

4. Whether or not the GM allows the orc bloodline arcana to affect spherecasting.

5. Whether or not the GM allows the blood havoc sorcerer bloodline mutation.

The more of these the GM allows, the stronger Destruction will be.
>>
>>52537732
thanks 2hu
>>
>>52537714

1) For the price of 2 magic talents you gain the ability to force an enemy to make a will save or become dazed.

2) For the price of 4 magic talents you gain the ability to force an enemy to make a fortitude save or become entangled for 3 rounds.
>>
>>52537749
All of these come from the same book, though. Also, of the minor orders, Pike is explicitly Lawful Good and so is Torrent. Crux's Lictor's was already a statted out enemy a while before.
Vidoc of the Scourge is LN, seemingly leaning good from his bio, in one of the less cruel orders.
Rack's Lictor is new, there was another lictor before Path of the Hellknight. (Also, she's somehow LN when her idea is to 'purge the filthy mudblood wizards, sorcerers only')

Any third level feat (extra spell points is a good option)

Magical signs, Somatic Casting, Verbal Casting, two of which are going towards overcharge because we're "haha that megumeme"

SP= level x 2 + CAM + drawbacks + soulfire
Assume soulfire to 8 con since we're K.O.ing ourselves with overcharge anyway.

using the 20 int and 14 con
SP = 4 x 2 + 5 + 1 + 3 = 17

That's with 0 wbl investment, any FCB/race stuff. Also we could have used maximize here as well, or time shifted a single target half cr blast, more so if we did take extra sp feat or more drawbacks.

Result: three orbs totaling 21d6 or 73.5 average, though DCs are a thing so it'll be lower. But it's over an area so yeah.

Ok so a player brings this to a game, does this round 1, and boom it's now a thing that happens in a game.
>>
>>52538773

I think so; a well-built fighter's heavy, consistent damage is considered sustained, due to requiring no particular expenditure of resources or special ability. Whereas a "nova" is basically what happens when you decide to go all-in on someone's ass.
>>
>>52538773
Yes because Nova implies using a limited resource. That's the "Nova".

Just doing damage is not "Nova" no matter how much damage it is if that damage can be sustained.
>>
>>52538809
Are you retarded.
>>
>>52538755
Incanter, then take Amateur Spiritualism and Extra Spirit.
>>
>>52538808
The real novaing character is the Paladin, who can 1shot people starting even at low levels, but has a very low number of times he can do it.
>>
>>52538822
I just don't understand what you want from me. I proved that you could do it, said it was a bad idea and to not do it, and you're still getting on my case about "but what about real games" when nothing that was proved here is impossible to do in a "real game" and doesn't even rely on odd rulings like the ones 2hu mentioned.

What more do you want me to do?
>>
>>52538855
Ehh..
To an extent?
Paladins are super specialized though.

How come all the cool, flavorful spherecasting classes are mid or even low-casters, and all the high-casters are super lame?

Is it too much to ask for a high-caster that has class features other than "get more talent" and "get more feat"?

Hedgewitch (font of inspiration, spiritualism) 1/incanter 1/wizard (sphere) 1/oracle (sphere) 1/sorcerer (sphere) 1/witch (sphere) 1/hedgewitch +X should serve you fairly well.

Ensure that any spheres you do *not* possess have drawbacks applied to them in such a way that when you use your hedgewitch spiritualism tradition, you can immediately access a wide menu of talents from those spheres.

Is it just me or are most, if not all, the 3-point Sphere Specializations for Incanter kind of bad? It's like, you get a CL bonus, but the abilities are so... whatever. I'd rather get more feats or a bloodline and a domain, I think. Am I missing something?

>First anon says "that doesn't apply to real games" and dismisses it
>confusedanimegirl.jpg
We never said it did apply to real games, that was never in question, nor was a the build ever stated to be non-retarded. I mean for god's sake, it's based around a character who is perceived as retarded for doing so. Because they /are/ the munchkin who brought it to the game. We clarified that the thought-process-meme-build can be done earlier than 7th, but unlike the earlier claims, doesn't do 200 damage.

The most competent high casters to take single-classed from levels 1 to 20 are:

• A cleric (sphere), for many talents and 3/4 BAB.
• A druid (sphere), to make the most of Alteration and 3/4 BAB.
• An oracle (sphere), gifted with many a spell point, a fair number of talents, revelations, and 3/4 BAB.
• A fey adept (gutter mage), which is an Intelligence-based fey adept with an inspiration pool, and which preserves the exceedingly flexible ability that is create reality: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZpYcen07aavj1COqtEF-Ai9zv0ls2w_JxIr0xJ68P-M/edit
• A hedgewitch (spiritualism, triple goddess), for the ultimate in spherecasting flexibility on top of being a high caster for Death, Fate, and Life. This also has 6 base skill points, 3/4 BAB, and the option to be Intelligence- or Wisdom-based.

>>52539100

I personally prefer to take Knowledge (Memory) over Healing (Restoration) for the sake of Knowledge skill checks, unless you intend on abusing the Overcharge boon to fatigue yourself and immediately cure that fatigue.

>>52539109

I prefer the Fate specialization for prescience, which can help safeguard many a d20 roll.

A Mivoni might decide to do that, and he even could call himself a Swordlord if he wanted (but that'd be silly, since he's not using a sword). The truth of the matter is, the Aldori Swordlords aren't an organized group with rules and their Mivoni counterparts are even less so. There's nobody certifying your expertise or verifying you earned your title- though being an Aldori Swordlord means you can expect to be challenged by other Aldori Swordlords and you might find yourself publicly disgraced if you're found to be lacking. Mivoni Swordlords are very similar, and being recognized as a Mivoni Swordlord is simply a matter of calling yourself as much and being strong enough to back up the claim if somebody calls you out. Most Mivoni Swordlords are just mercenaries or thugs, something your typical Aldori Swordlord respects themselves and their martial tradition too much to stoop to. >>52537143 pretty much hits the nail on the head. Someone who actually takes pride in their swordsmanship and has real talent as a swordlord down in Mivoni might not even call themselves a Mivoni Swordlord at all, not wanting the reputation that can bring, and just let their talent speak for itself whenever it's time to fight.

I'm fine giving reviews over Discord or Roll20 PMs, and my handle in the /pfg/ Discord is Wubu. Personally, I think I give shit reviews, but I do at least know what I'm looking for and try to give useful feedback. I was considering doing reviews in the /pfg/ threads since it entertains and educates, but the general response I got was that it would be better for me to do them privately- though if any reviewanon wants to pick that up, they're welcome to it.

I probably won't be able to get a lot of reviewing done this week though because I'm becoming a productive member of society starting tomorrow and will be busy moving to a new place. Still, anyone can message me if they want and I'll get to them as soon as I can.

>the Aldori Swordlords aren't an organized group with rules

I'm sorry Wubu, but that's factually incorrect. The Swordlords are in fact an organized group with rules that expect them to uphold Rostlandic justice and defend the hallowed traditions of their region. You don't change your last name to "Aldori" and become a certified nobleman from an organization with no organization.

Isn't there a rule that a Swordlord is expected to provide their hearth and home to another Swordlord?

There's two ways to combat the early anime threads, the first is to start posting non-bait threads before page 6, the other is ignoring them and posting a real general on page 8 or later.

Anime threads are way more cancerous than dueling threads anyways since they're regularly deleted full slate by the janitors making any discussion that went on there null and void.

No, dueling threads are maximum cancer, don't do that shit

I only know what I know from having done my best to read up on them, and from the information presented in Kingmaker's article on Brevoy as well as what the Pathfinder Wiki has to say about Aldori Swordlords, I really didn't get the impression that there's a formal organization. The closest I've seen to something that would suggest that is that there are schools dedicated to teaching the style in Restov, primarily the Aldori Academy. But I've seen nothing about a formal organization, nothing about rules for such an organization or conduct for its members like the one you mention (besides the rule of taking on the Aldori name), and nothing about who the leaders of such an organization are. The "Swordlords of Restov" are referenced by the charter the PCs receive, but that reads to me as something more like some individual, respected swordlords in Restov combining their financial and political muscle to get permission from the local Lord Mayor to grant authority for such a job than as some kind of council of leaders.

The Aldori Swordlords also aren't official nobility near as I can tell, so much as very respected representatives of Rostland's historic traditions and culture. How could they have existed as certified nobility in a country that they quite openly feel should be split? House Rogarvia kept them around since Brevoy's birth to placate Rostland, I feel, but it wouldn't have made sense for them to be granted official rank and status by the crown.

I'm just working off the presented lore for Brevoy and the Aldori Swordlords and making what I think are reasonable assumptions to fill in the gaps. But if you have a source of lore about them that I've missed, please do share. I want to present a telling representation of Brevoy so that applicants for the game have solid setting material to work with, instead of just forcing them to go do research on their own if they want to try and fit into the setting.
